“So this is Jake's fault, right?” Randy asked.
Danny made a noise of agreement as they continued running down the hallway, red flashing against their eyes and alarms ringing through the air.
And okay, it wasn't really Jake's fault they were being chased by a killer robot after breaking out of some holding cells.
Ever since Jake had turned 16, he'd been getting more duties outside of New York, really stepping up into his role as the American Dragon. NYC was still his home, his main area of protection, and the main capital of the magical community; he wasn't leaving anytime soon.
But occasionally a smaller community would reach out, asking for help with bigger problems they couldn't handle and he couldn't answer over the phone or e-mail. So Jake began traveling (through mundane or magical means), and solving the problems in person.
And occasionally dragging his out-of-town friends along with him.
Which is how the four of them ended up here: in an off-the-books government facility in Horrible, Arkansas, and made up of the same branch as the GIW.
(Danny had groaned out loud in his and Rand's cell, thunking his head against the bars when he heard that.
The agent that was interrogating them gave him a weird look.
“He's from Amity Park.” Randy said solemnly, patting Danny’s shoulder.
The agent went white so fast Randy honestly thought he was about to pass out before fleeing the room.
“Wow,” Randy said, “Y'all's city really is a curse.”)
The four of them had literally stumbled onto the grounds, got searched and had most of their stuff taken away, and thrown into holding cells where agents would periodically come to interrogate them on how they found the place and who else knows about it.
Danny had phased them through the back wall as soon as they were left alone, and accidently ran directly into a wall of weapons that fell on top of them both. Randy only got a sore shoulder, but something zapped Danny and he hadn't been able to transform since.
Which was when the alarms went off.
And when they discovered that the facility used killer robots as security and were all too happy to shoot a couple of teenagers.
Now they were running for their lives trying to find their stuff and their friends without getting shot by the robots or the agents.
They skidded around another corner, and Danny grabbed open the nearest door, throwing it open to check for their stuff.
Instead they were met with two startled agents in the middle of grabbing their weapons.
Randy didn't waste the chance and spun around Danny, landing a kick in the first man's diaphragm and then bringing his knee up just as the man bent over to gasp for air.
(The ninja suit let him be faster, stronger, more bouncy, and protected him from hard hits. The lessons and training of 800 years worth of ninjas were pressed into the fabric enabling him to fight when he had never done it before. He still had training though. He spent hours in the Nomicon practicing the moves and katas his brain knew but his body didn't. Following the footsteps and marks the Nomicon drew out around him, mirroring the poses the illustrated samurai and dragons went though. And lately, following along next to the First Ninja as he performed the moves next to him, occasionally fixing his posture, as Plop Plop chattered nearby.
Being the Ninja wasn't all cool flips and awesome weapons. Even without the mask, Randy was still a ninja.)
Danny took the chance to leap onto the other agent's back trying to get his weapon, throwing the man off balance right as he tried to shoot Randy.
The shot went wide and hit the wall, leaving a faint scorch mark on the white plaster. Randy dived under the shot, rolling forward right past the agent. He kicked his leg out, catching him in the back of the knee, right as Danny yanked the weapon out of his grasp and leapt off the agent's back. Between the teenager using him as a springboard and his leg giving out on him, the agent hit the floor hard. Danny didn't give him the chance to get his bearings and swung the weapon, clocking him over the head.
He swayed for a minute before hitting the ground. He wasn't unconscious but he wasn't getting off the floor anytime soon.
Randy and Danny high-fived before fleeing back out the door.
“Randy, that was awesome!” Danny exclaimed as they checked the other doors for their stuff. “I didn't know you could do that!”
“I know, I know, I'm the Bruce McCheese. Hold your applause,” Randy bragged as he opened the last door in the hallway to reveal yet another supply closet. Running past Danny, he punched him in the shoulder, “I'm still a ninja without the mask Casper.”
“What was that? I couldn't hear you over your ego getting in the way!” Danny laughed as he turned the corner, only to catch a metal leg in his stomach. His back hit the wall and his stolen weapon went flying away from him.
“DANNY!” Randy screeched, knowing he wouldn't get there in time as the security bot charged up to fire.
His feet and hands moved before he could think about it.
‘Separate - Gather - Free’
Randy could feel the energy pool through him, starting with his feet (“Your stance grounds you,” First Ninja said, “It centers you. It's the most important part of using the spells.") and surging upwards through his body in a way he's never felt while in the suit. Randy could feel the air thicken in his palms and he thrust out his hands just as the energy hit his palms and the top of his head.
“Ninja AIR-FIST!”
He could see the ninja magic hit the security robot and smash it into the wall. All the energy that had surged through him faded out, leaving Randy feeling like he just played Grave Puncher for two days straight.
He swayed for a moment, exhaustion hitting him like a brick, before he stumbled over to a gob-smacked Danny.
“Since when could you do that?” Danny asked as he scrambled to his feet.
Randy braced himself against the wall, “Uhhhhhhhhh……now I guess?”
Danny looked at the dented wall, then back at Randy. “Can you do it again?”
“Nngh….think I'll pass out if I did.”
“Alright, last resort then. And I still can't go ghost.”
Randy groaned. “Man we are shoobed.”
“We just need to find the others…..and our stuff.” Danny crouched down in front of Randy. “Alright hop on. You look like you're about to pass out now.”
“Pretty sure it'd just slow us down.” Randy said, even as he wrapped his arms around Danny's neck.
“Dude it's like I'm holding a couple of grapes. What are you, 80 pounds soaking wet?”
“Screw you too.” He dug his heel into Danny's thigh, “Giddee up. I think I hear the others breaking things up ahead.”
Jake and Adrien were indeed in the next hallway over, both transformed and absolutely wrecking anything they came across.
“Hey guys!” Chat grinned at them, impaling the last security bot with his staff. “We were looking for you!”
“Yo Ribbons! What happened to you?” Jake flew over to hand them their backpacks.
“Turns out Mister Ninja over here can use his ninja magic out of the mask.”
Jake blinked at them, “You can do that?”
“Apparently,” Randy said as he slid off Danny's back, “if I want to feel like I went ten rounds with a hoard of robo-apes.”
“Oof.” Jake shook his backpack at them as Randy pulled on his mask. “Well we found the main computer room, stole a bunch of hard drives that I'm going to give to Spud and Tucker, and Chat broke like, everything in there with a Cataclysm so no need to worry about cameras.”
“And we found out what they are called.” Adrien chimed in, “Beings Under Government Surveillance. They had a sign.”
“Bugs?”
“B.U.G.S.!”
“No wonder the GIW are such pests!” Danny and Adrien said together, high fiving. Randy snickered at the pun.
“Yeah, you're all comedians, can we go? The missing fairies are running loose and I've got to figure out if they need to move, or if they'd be fine with some more magic barriers around their town.”
“And I really gotta talk to the Nomicon. It's wack they didn't warn me about this.”
~~~~
Later in the Nomicon:
First Ninja stared at him in disbelief, “You did what.”
Donnie and Leo meeting the twins from American Dragon.
Tumblr media
you are very right! I enjoyed this far more than i should have lol. Sara and Leo are just excited to meet someone who sees the bad stuff but hasn't let it overwhelm them. While Kara and Donnie are getting validation that it's alright not to like seeing just the good stuff. In an awkward teen, "i don't want to talk about feelings" way lol.
Thank you!
This is something I came up with ages ago. Completely forgot about it until I saw that picture you drew. So I thought you would like this stupid au:
‘This time kinda a crossover. Tengu randy. Basically instead of a ninja randy is a tengu, and Jake (the American dragon) must find and protect him.’
Tumblr media
Dude, I like this!!! It is super cool and i like the idea!!!
This Is asome!
I just noticed the Huntsman was in this group and I have to say, he so shouldn't be there. Not because he's an old villain, but because, as I've mentioned before, he's WAY too lame and all those other villains are much more interesting characters.
Tumblr media
If Andrias can get in on technicality despite a redemption arc, then a big bad like Huntsman can get in too despite how lame he is.
For the ask game, American Dragon Jake Long?
Tumblr media
We’re you tortured as a child? | That was Dog s*** | Yea… no, just no | It doesn’t hold up | Never saw it, can’t judge it | It’s watchable | Overrated but not hated | Underrated and needs more love | Solid wave of nostalgia| It still lives up to the hype. | Master piece | This changed my life.
You know that measure for kid hero shows that is The Life and Times of Juniper Lee? American Dragon Jake Long gets, like, an A+ for doing such a good job.
Jake is just irresponsible enough to get into hijinks while being such a Good Boy that you're definitely on his side in things. His mentor is his grandpa, so there's genuine caring moments between them in between them dispensing wise teachings. Fu Dog is a riot and a half. Haley is such an endearing little no-it-all, but you fully get why Jake finds her so unbearable at times.
They even have the same magical vs normal worlds set up as Juniper Lee. The main difference is that they have more followup to things introduced in the stories, which is visible in how they chose to approach the supporting cast. Jake's friends know about his magic hijinks, so they have commentary and help to offer, Jake has a love interest, who's destined to be his mortal enemy and the show's approach to this is absolutely phenomenal (the two constantly leaving their date to go fight each other's alter egos is my favorite "double date" setup ever). One of Jake's teachers is a conspiracy nut so there's a genuine tension of him maybe discovering something with the actual continuity in the show.
I also love the villains. There's a nice collection of funnier small-time villains, recurring annoyances and even some arc villains with a genuinely threatening presence. The Huntsman is my favorite Shredder clone he gets a gold star, and you can tell that the crew had ideas for the Dark Dragon that they never got to actualize, which is tragic. This show just really had a touch for character writing so it's a shame we never got to see the Dark Dragon plans come to fruition.
Not a fan of the art style change, though, but I think that's everyone's opinion.
American Dragon: Jake Long
Tumblr media
I think I was 10-11 when I started watching
We’re you tortured as a child? | That was Dog s*** | Yea… no, just no | It doesn’t hold up | Never saw it, can’t judge it | It’s watchable | Overrated but not hated | Underrated and needs more love | Solid wave of nostalgia| It still lives up to the hype. | Master piece | This changed my life.
I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THE STYLE CHANGE
The first style of animation was so great.
And this is solid Voice work from Dante Basco
I loved American Dragon as a kid.
But MAN did I hate the style change they did. The writing wasn’t changed but the change in animation style was so… bleh!
Also G was a G.
Fu dog was also a superior Fu.
Viste Jake Long no es asi?? bien entonces cuales son tus episodios y personajes favoritos?? vas a incluir algun concepto, personaje, tu en tu historia??
Perdón, otra vez, contesto en inglés porque es demasiado para traducir.
(Transl.)
Q: You watched Jake Long didn't you?? okay then what are your favorite episodes and characters?? are you gonna include any concept, character, in your story??
A: Sorry, again, answering in english because it's too much to translate.
I actually really liked the finale, and generally the episodes where you have a bit of actual stakes when they play around with Rose and Jake's identities. I was pretty disappointed by the Dark Dragon, tbh, though I have some ideas to fix things for the Kverse (and yes, I've already mentioned I plan to include Jake Long eventually). The Huntsclan was cool until they bizarrely decided they needed tween dumbasses in their ranks (definitely some weird choices in this show).
I'd say my favorite characters were Rose and Grandpa Lao Shi (I liked him better in S1 admittedly, he became kind of a joke in S2). I like Jake, too, but he makes bafflingly stupid choices sometimes. I found Trixie and Spud acceptable in small doses, but more often than not they annoyed me too much to like them. I only like Fu Dog when isn't being misogynistic, which...isn't as often as you'd think (??? wtf was that choice about ???). Haley was also really grating usually (but I have a really fun idea for her!). Jake's dad was fun when he didn't outstay his welcome. Jake's mom was...barely there (and I actually don't like that the dragon powers "skipped her generation", they do absolutely nothing with that). And yeah, despite the stereotype, I did actually enjoy Rotwood (the VA's line delivery just really sold it for me and I freakin' loved when he finally proved Jake was a dragon).
As I've mentioned before, I'm going to be adapting the Jake Long lore into the established magical world of the Kverse. This does mean a few important changes, but I've tried to keep the important stuff intact. You'll have to wait and see how that develops!
Hi there! Any new SQ content? Been down a rabbit hole of then again haha and I always love your work!
I wrote this just for you because it's been ages since I wrote these boys and turns out I have really missed it.
(Do not ask me anything about Miraculous, I have not watched it since season mid-season 3 and have no plans to. I get all my info from tumblr memes and a single person in the SQ discord who doesn't mind giving loose spark notes.)
.....
"So that's what's been up with me lately, how about you guys?"
Adrien gave a bright grin.
The other three boys stared at him in concern and confused horror for a few moments.
"Dude." Randy said empathetically.
Adrien let his head thunk on the table, "I know."
"And I thought my thing was a lot." Danny said, mostly to himself.
Jake leaned towards him, "Yeah, I actually got to talk to you about your thing. Cause it's starting to affect my whole deal."
Danny waved him off, "Later, we're helping Adrien deal with his mental breakdown right now."
"I'm not having a mental breakdown," Adrien mumbled into the wood.
"Buttercup, I think you need to have one." Randy said.
Adrien tilted to the side until he was laying more on Randy than the table, "I don't want to talk about my thing anymore. Let's talk about Danny and Jake's thing."
Jake threw his hands in the air, "It's Danny’s thing that's affecting me!"
"Look it's not the first time all of reality had to get rewritten so that everybody would forget my secret so I don't know why it's affecting you this time."
Now Jake looked like the one who should be having a mental breakdown. "I was talking about your self-appointed Title!"
"My what?"
"You heard the capitals in that too, right?" Randy whispered to Adrien, who just nodded his head.
"What do you mean reality got rewritten?! Danny did you BREAK REALITY?!?!?!"
"No! Vlad did! I fixed it! Can we go back to the titles thing cause that sounded kinda important. Like proper capitalization important."
"Danny I swear on my ancestors-"
"So like chapter titles or movie titles?" Randy asked.
Jake turned to stare at him incredulously and Randy could feel Adrien shaking from giggling.
He opened and closed his mouth a few times in response, before waving his hands in front of him like he was trying to ward off all of Randy's General personality. "Randy please, I can't deal with you and Danny at the same time."
"Hey!" Danny said in offense. Randy just nodded in understanding.
Jake groaned into his hands for a moment, before straightening up and pointing at Danny. "Phantom has been officially Titled as the Liminal Bridge. No one knows how that happened and are miffed about it. And now I have a bunch of restless spirits that keep bothering me because they somehow figured out I actually know you and they don't know how to reach you."
Danny looked confused, "No one has ever called me that. Why are you saying it like it's a big deal?"
"Because it is a big deal." Jake stressed. "In the magical community, things like that are big deals. I don't just call myself the American Dragon for fun. It's an official Title. And it comes with responsibilities only I can do, problems that only I have the authority to solve. These aren't things you can just give yourself either. It's usually done by someone with higher authority over you, it's passed down from previous holders, some very old and powerful mythical beings can bestow one on you, and sometimes the right magical artifact can if it's sentient and impressed enough. You can't just call yourself a bridge and be like "That's a thing that everybody has to call me now!"."
Danny was looking at him wide-eyed, "I uh….I mean that's kinda what happened?"
Jake's head hit the table with a 'thunk'.
"Man I've just been fighting McFist bots this entire time, y’all’s lives are wonk." "Thanks Randy." The other three chorused.
Aight so it's very obvious I've been on a bend lately, and I'm kinda looking for ideas to write up. I've had some of my own, but I'm interested in the ideas of others. Or even just chatting (my asks are open)
So fellow Nigel enthusiasts (if there are any others), I am very open to ideas, chats, etc.
After hearing about Gabriel being arrested, Jake and Rose make a trip to Paris, in part so she and Adrien can commiserate about Terrible Parental Figures.
Jake would no doubt claim dragon business to head on that trip--whether or not the French Dragon has actually been replaced in the years since. (Time would presumably have passed if Rose is able to get away so easily to accompany him, so they'd probably be out of high school.)
Rose would be familiar with the pressures Adrien was under from her memories as Huntsgirl, but she spent considerably more time with the Huntsmaster than Adrien ever did with his father. It wasn't a good relationship, exactly, but that relationship existed, and it was far more tangible than the one Adrien had with Gabriel.
Rose also got a second chance with her birth family, something Adrien won't get--because there isn't a what-if where Gabriel wasn't Hawk Moth or Emilie wasn't lost to their family. There is no reality-changing wish (even though the possibility is there) or cosmic undo button on that scale. Even if Sass used his powers uncontained by the Miraculous, even if Adrien risked it, chances are good he doesn't have enough information to prevent everything, and if he could, how much is he willing to lose?
(He might be tempted to ask Bunnyx to help him do something. She won't entertain that idea, and Jake would back her up on it after the hourglass debacle. Some things are too risky.)
The visit would a nice distraction for Adrien, after everything, and it would no doubt be good to get out some bitter words about the whole thing, but there's too much to do in the immediate aftermath for him to spent much time with them right now. The world might not know he was Chat Noir, but they know he's Adrien Agreste, son of Gabriel Agreste, son of Hawk Moth, and that's already too much.
Paris Dragon au: any information you can share about max?
As stated before, the only people in Dupont that have met Max are Kim, Marinette, and Nino.
Max was the one who built and coded Markov.
Miss Bustier's class knows the most about Max due to Kim mentioning him every time something in Max's expertise comes up. Anyone outside the class only knows second-hand.
Kim always keeps a picture of Max on hand as well as a keepsake necklace that he got from Max.
The majority of Dupont has tried to get the Magic Trio to bring Max to a school event so they can meet him, but there was always an excuse as to why Max can't attend.
Felix ended up with a black eye after telling Kim to grow up and stop going on about this "imaginary boyfriend". Markov wasn't thrilled with this but assured Felix that Max was real.
The only person in Dupont who seems to know what's going on is Alix, but she's not saying anything to anyone and always seems a little sad when Kim brings Max up.
(I already have The Max Plotline all planned out, I just need to start writing Paris Dragon: Marinette Dupain-Cheng).
🩸 Jake and Rose for the ask game please
🩸 Patching up a wound so warning for blood and injuries
"Stop! Wait, stop!"
Jake laughed and wrapped his arms around Rose's waist. "Don't tell me your scared."
She flipped her hair over her shoulder but wouldn't look him in the eye as she said, "Don't be ridiculous. I don't get scared."
Jake didn't believe her but he nudged the skateboard closer to her again. "Then get back on."
He was trying not to break out into a grin as Rose hesitantly stood on the skateboard, rearranging her feet to get them in the exact position that Jake had shown her. For all over her ninja skills, she was nervous on a skateboard and he found it adorable. She put on her helmet.
"I'm ready."
Jake took her hands and pulled her along with him. She seemed steady though she kept looking down at the ground.
"Ready to do it on your own?"
"Yes. No. Wait."
Jake made the decision for her and let her hands go. Rose shrieked but kept going, putting her foot down and pushing herself along. She looked like she was really getting it - and was even starting to smile - when her wheel caught on something and she went flying. Jake was by her side in a second. Rose sat up and stared down at her torn hands and skinned knees.
"I look like a child."
"You do not." Jake kissed her forehead. "Let's go get you cleaned up."
He helped her limp inside of his house, abandoning his skateboards by the front door where his mother would yell at him for it later, and he lifted her onto the edge of his bathroom sink.
"I can clean myself up."
"But you shouldn't have to."
Jake took his time, holding her hands as much as rinsing them. She splashed water at him when his fingers started to wander up the inside of her arms and across her sensitive skin. He splashed her back and then took one of her long legs into his hands. He wasn't squeamish about the blood and was more focused caressing her muscles. holding his hand against the back of her thigh.
"To help stabilize you," he murmured when she teased him. "Don't tell me you don't like it."
Rose offered him her other leg. "I didn't say that."
He dried her off with a towel, carefully applying thick and bulky bandages to her knees and hands.
"So, what now?" Jake asked, already leaning into kiss her.
"Now, we get back on the skateboards!"
Rose ducked under his arm and danced away from him. Jake laughed and took off after her. That was his girl.
Send me some more!
