I've written a little bit about this before, although the new anime has rendered some of my headcanon null and void, so I need to update it a bit.

The best way to describe the Ishida household is opulent but bland. It's clear from the anime that Ryuken and Uryuu are currently residing in the old Ishida family home (I'd headcanoned before that they didn't) but I still feel that personalisation and making the house homey, wouldn't be high on Ryuken's agenda. He keeps the place clean (although there's always going to be a pervading smell of tabacco smoke throughout. Even though Ryuken smokes outside that scent lingers.) and he enjoys good furnishings (he's kept a lot of the fancier art and stuff his parents had) but there's no real personality to it. It's what I like to call, rich person generic - the kind of thing you'd see in good housekeeping and clearly cost a fortune, but with no personal touches. Even the colours of the walls are kind of meh, the anime clearly shows there's a lot of beige, brown and cream going on there. You could walk into that house and have no clue who it actually belonged to.

The only exception to this are the bedrooms. This is where the real personality comes out. Ryuken prefers cold colours (blues, whites, purples) and colours his personal space accordingly. He also keeps most of his photos and other mementos here. He has a wardrobe with photo albums and Uryuu's baby book in a box shoved at the back of it. His wedding album is in this box as well as a few older photos inherited from his parents. He has a couple of posed family portraits on the walls in his bedroom, and it's also where he keeps his personal books (think fiction and other books that interest him beyond his career) and other small trinkets. It's probably his favourite space in the house.

He also has a home office but that's more geared towards work and shares a lot of the same generic traits as the rest of the house but does have some small personalizations. He has a photo of Kanae on the desk and, again, the books here are more personal than the ones kept in the library. The furniture here is also a little shabbier than in the rest of the house and chosen for comfort in mind. The desk is ornate but the chair behind it old and losing some of its leather. It sure is comfortable though.

So, circling back to the question, I guess he does flaunt his wealth in way, but it's not in a conspicuous way and he'd be insulted if you suggested that he did.

6. Does this chapter/fic have any twists that you’re proud of?

I'm answering for the fic instead of the chapter, but there is a scene in the Black Emporium that I think will be a little unexpected, but I'm really (really really) proud of it. I don't think there are many twists in this fic in general, because it's really about the kind of slow healing that must be done after a deep hurt. Recovery has its ups and downs, but it's not necessarily as plot twisty as other types of plot.

9. What is your favorite dialogue you’ve written so far?

hehehe well, I love writing a good argument, so here's this from the most recent chapter:

“And you,” he snapped at last, unable to bear the silence, “Would you rather let yourself be pummeled than allow me to do my job and block the blow?”

“What?” Elowen said, turning toward him, and Cullen looked at her at last, “But you—”

“You stood between me and that—that thing. You—and you do not even have a shield! Why would you—”

“You’re too important to lose, Cullen,” she said, frowning, “Of course I stepped between you. No shield? I had a barrier on the whole time, or I’d be a bloody smear on the floor by now.”

That was not reassuring. Cullen scoffed and looked away again, hands tightening on the reins. 

“I am too important to—can you hear yourself? You’re the Inquisitor. I am only the—”

“I don’t know why you’re angry with me. I was only—”

“Only showing a potent disregard for your own safety,” Cullen snapped, “When I’d read the field reports I thought they must surely be exaggerating. You said you wanted to know how to protect yourself better in close combat—I thought you intended to do so in the way it was meant to be done, with ample protection and forethought. I did not think you would be throwing yourself bodily at threats instead of—”

“Instead of what?” she snapped, angry at last; Cullen did not think he had ever heard her properly angry before, save perhaps when she’d raised her voice to him in Haven over the message from her clan. 

“Instead of allowing you to be exposed to a substance when we don’t know what it might do to you?” she said, “Instead of—watching someone I care for be beaten to a bloody pulp?”

“You are supposed to let me—”

“Let you stand between me and danger? Cullen, despite the way you’re acting right now, I am not one of your charges. Either you have faith in what you taught me or you don’t, but I won’t apologize for taking a blow meant for you, and I won’t take it back. I do this every day when I’m not at Skyhold; I know how to handle myself, no matter what you seem to think.” 

Cullen sat back in the saddle. His horse, alert to his every motion, began to slow immediately. Elowen didn’t stop; she looked at him over her shoulder when she finished speaking, and face was fixed in an uncharacteristic frown. 

“Be angry with me if you have to; I’ll be here when you’re actually  ready to talk.”

You were stuck between a wall and a woman that was twice your size in both height and width. Her eyes bore a hole through the top of your skull as you try to find a way out of this situation.

Her knee was firmly against your groin, not grinding, not as a means to cause you pain but to keep you locked in place. The bigger Twin's intimidating presence was more than enough to dissuade any attempts you might make to break free.

Your heart was pounding in your ears. Your shoulder was grabbed by a strong hand and you swallowed as you were sure that she was about to wring your neck. She squeezed you until you winced from the pain. When the killer began to lean towards you, you began to painic.

W-What is she doing?!

What is happening?!

Oh GOD-!!!

You were split between the possibility of the killer either ripping your face off with her bare teeth or her actually kissing you. You couldn't decide which was worse and you screwed your eyes shut as you wait for the inevitable.

But you weren't expecting to feel her other arm wrap around your body and the hand on your shoulder to pull you into an embrace. ...or you think it's an embrace. Your feet are nearly off the ground and you aren't reciprocating in the slightest but the killer doesn't let you go.

Oh.

Um-

You don't move for fear of upsetting the larger Twin. Where is a teammate with a flashlight when you need one?! Ragged breathing and a shriek has your body tensing further as you catch a glimpse of the smaller Twin staring at you, glaring at you from a few feet away. When you still don't reciprocate the killer's hug, she seems almost taken aback, pulling her head away from your shoulder as she looked over your blank, frozen face. She drops you, to your relief.

And allows her brother to rip your face off.

He wants to be remembered as, if not a good man, then at least one who cared. He wants them to know that he tried, that he loved his country and his family with everything he could, even if it wasn't enough. He fears that the last days of his country are the only ones that will be remembered. They destroyed the history books with his home, after all.

💛: From whom do they most want to hear the phrase “I’m proud of you?”

It kills him to say it, to even think it, but for some godforsaken reason it's always going to be Schlatt. Maybe it's just because he's the only one Tubbo can't get it from, but he knows that it's deeper than that. There was just something about Schlatt, something in the little between moments, where his voice lost it's mocking lilt and it's laugh, where he smiled just right and ruffled your hair, where he taught you something new and you did it on the first try, where his approval would make you feel on top of the world. The first time Tubbo rolls a cigarette, Schlatt laughs, and pushes him a little on the shoulder, and says "First try! You're good at this, kid." and Tubbo felt, in that moment, although the bruise on his face from their last talk in this office still hadn't faded, on top of the world. He thinks he has been chasing that feeling for a long time.

❤️: What little thing their partner does makes them fall even deeper in love every time they do it?

Quackity is a very quality time and subtle acts of care type of affectionate. Some of it is just how he is, some of it is trauma from his relationship with Schlatt, but every time Sapnap remembers his favourite food or buys the shampoo he likes he feels a little softer. (Maybe that's why it hurts so much when Karl forgets.)

I know it's a few fandoms behind, but I've been thinking about the okverse, more specifically the AU from the ask where Aradia got helmed. What would happen to that Aradia? The haunting would only get more noticeable over time, and claiming that's just what happens when you helm a necropath might lead to "oops, just cull her". Would the fear of her death "powering up ghosts" be enough for her to be taken out of the helm (if possible?) or swapped with LF so the Bureau could "manage the issue"?

I think probably the first resort is the other necropaths would have a talk with Aradia about subtlety. Maybe they can… make the haunting less noticeable? At least some of the time, so it just looks like it's recurring?

—I'm not sure Aradia would object to a culling at this point, actually, after she sees the kinds of stuff ghost necropaths can get up to. The ghost necropaths might be pretty twitchy about the possibility, though.

I'm not sure what the most likely outcome would be.

I don't think there was any nepotism involved in Ryuken's decision to go into medicine. I've just double checked the wiki, but we don't actually get any info about what Soken Ishida does for a living (or did, he's old enough to be retired in canon. It also must have paid well considering the family's living situation), and I've always seen Ryuken as very separate from his family after he turns his back on the quincy and that includes his career choices. I can't see Soken being in a position to pull strings, and Ryuken would have resented him for it if he had. It would have been too much for his pride to take.

I see Ryuken's desire to go into medicine as a practical response to his views on the quincy after everything but the rain. Although I think the phrase 'Ryuken Ishida is not fit to protect the quincy' is more teenage angst with some contraryism thrown in there for good measure, I have still always seen this moment as a fundamental shift in how Ryuken views his upbringing and the quincy ideology. I don't think distanced himself from that moment onwards. I also don't think he distanced himself as much as he claims or has as much loathing for the ideology he likes to state (you don't build a underground training room or keep hold of tons of quincy artificats if you hate it that much) but it did get him thinking. I see his decision to enter medicine as his answer to what can I do that's directly in contrast to everything the quincy has taught me - saving the living is very different to saving the dead even if it wouldn't piss his family off in the way a teenaged Ryuken would have probably liked. I imagine he went to med school far away from Karakura town and only returned once Uryuu was born, possibly not until Katagiri's death.

As for becoming medical director, I think that was more a case of being good at what he does and knowing how to network. He might be solitary and not the best socially, but he does know how to say the right thing where it counts and is smart enough to know the right people to talk to. It's also been confirmed that he's canonically a heart surgeon, a position with a lot of prestige anyway, and would have been a good place to hone the kind of leadership skills you need for a directorship position. (I've just been googling, but I'm also pretty sure there's some kind of statistic which shows that surgeons are more likely to wind up in management. Wasn't able to find it, but let me know if I'm right). Throw in a ton of overtime as a less than healthy way of coping with Katagiri's death and you wind up with a dr who's likely going to catch the eye of the higher ups.

23. What’s your absolute favourite trope to write?

My favourite trope would have to be 'forgotten lovers' (if that's even a thing?) since I did Loki/Thomas Sharpe x reader and I absolutely loved incorporating Thomas Sharpe into Loki! If I could only write those kinds of fics forever, I fucking would! I also did Will Ransome with Loki but I doubt I would do any of Tom Hiddleston's other characters because it would be repetitive and I might lose readers because of it! But I do love that trope!

24. What’s a trope that you’d like to never hear about as long as you live, let alone write?

Baby fics. Like when reader is a grown adult and they get the mentality of a baby? Sorry but I avoid those kinds of fics even if it incorporates Wanda or Loki, it puts me off and gives me the creeps. Sure, reader is a consenting adult but it doesn't feel right for me.

oh my god okay. there are several but the absolute Most c!Tubbo mountain goats song of all time HAS to be until olympius returns. it fits new lmanburg tubbo the best, but honestly can be reinterpreted for every arc with him its so good. specifically the vibe of being in charge, of being responsible for the people around you and worrying constantly over them, of pleasing tyrants and vouching for every member of the team, but ultimately feeling like you are just holding a spot until the gods come back. i could go full seven paragraphs of analysis, and i might, but tbh i already made an edit like a year ago so i'll just give you that instead. art by late august, obviously.
