Impression now:

He's a grizzly bear who takes no sh*t but does no harm. He's an emotional rock, entire family would be completely lost without him. He's sensitive, kind, emotional and loving. He's the surrogate mother figure for his brothers.

Love him. I love how he isn't your typical buff jock bro stereotype.

Favourite moment:

It's gotta be that first scene in Ring of Fire where T2 dramatically emerges from the clouds and Virg pulls off that balloon rescue with an epic orchestral track.

Idea for a story:

Oh no. I'm really bad at these.

I'd said before that one of my headcanons was his bros getting him a novelty apron with Mama Bear printed on the front, he wears it whenever he's helping out with dinner because he knows how much it amuses his brothers.

So I think maybe my idea for a story would be either the nickname's origin or the apron's origin story.

Favourite relationship:

I love fishtank team ups, they know and love eachother so much, they're so close.

I like Virg and Cass McCready platonically, I feel like they would become really good friends and he'd become "Cool Uncle Virg" who comes over to babysit Cass' kiddos sometimes.

Favourite headcanon:

I like the idea that Virgil was close to his Grandpa and had adopted all sorts of values and morals from him. Like his work ethic, keeping a cool head when under pressure and showing kindness even to the most horrible people.

today i am thinking about the entire mayor of hypixel skyblock incident with technoblade because i still like to imagine, since it happened during one of the big dsmp story gaps, that he was like "oh i'm going to head off for a bit phil don't worry about it" and phil's like "bye mate" and ranboo is like "i wonder what he's doing. probably intense training or something. he's so cool."

meanwhile techno is yelling at an entirely unruly crowd about anarchy and being made mayor while beating up like, it was a weird giant slime if i remember right? and he has a whole "bond of rivals" moment with squidkid, like, they have this whole "there's no one i could trust to have my back more... than you... my most favored enemy" thing going on in that video it's SO funny.

all of this with the world's most absurd numbers outputs because hypixel skyblock is an endgame mmo. just COMICAL levels of firepower. like, everyone is an end-of-series shonen character. this place is like the naruto world was after it had jumped the shark a bit and there was a moon goddess attacking. about like that.

and then he's like. my work here is done. thanks for electing me mayor. i don't see this is contradictory to my anarchy at all btw it's like, a symbolic thing, on account of me beating up the old dictator mayor. and just dips again, presumably to be forever seen as a weird potato-themed legend around those parts.

i like to imagine he gets home and phil is like "hi mate" and techno's like "sorry i had things to handle at home" and ranboo is imagining like, WILD battles and what technoblade's home must even be like. and whatever he's imagining doesn't really compare to "technoblade's home is an end-game mmo no wonder he constantly assumes he's weak here he can only do earlygame levels of damage, forever".

and technoblade, being technoblade, says nothing about being mayor of hypixel now, until like, after the finale or something when squidkid just sort of swings by to ask how they're all doing after that nuke thing, huh. and everyone loses their shit.

do you have any tips about coming up with "fantasy disorders," or disorders for fictional species that affect parts of their biology we don't have?

in my case, i have some original characters based on the splatoon games - where the main species are squids and octopi that have evolved to be very similar to humans. some of the major things that set them apart from humans are their ability to produce ink and the ability to switch between their humanoid forms and a smaller, stealthier "squid/octopus form" at will. i was thinking of giving one of my main characters a disability that affects these unique features (and ofc side characters and a lot of other characters in the world would have these kinds of disabilities too), ex. some kind of ink deficiency or ink over-efficiency, or a disability that can sometimes prevent the character from changing between their two forms.

do you have any tips on how to get started researching for this kind of thing? obviously it wouldn't be a good idea to just make up a disability from nothing, but i'm not even sure where to begin, considering nothing like this exists in real life.

For the ink disability, you should think of what the ink is used for. Is it purely defensive? Does it aid with switching forms? Does it have any other role within the body or culturally? In real life mucus production is tied to ink production in squids, and while humans do make mucus you can also decide if a squidKid would have mucus act similarly to another bodily fluid. In marine animals mucus is used to gather food and lubricate the body, among other things, so something similar in humans might be sweat, saliva, tear glands or other water production. Real life examples of these glands being over/under active exist, so I’d look into those! You don’t have to copy them, but it’s a great place to start.

For the changing form disability, you need to decide why they can’t shift forms. Is it due to stiffness or paralysis? Are they too exhausted or weak? Is changing too painful or tiering to do for them? Is it because of an issue with their ink production (I haven’t played splatoon myself but I believe those are tied in game)? And if they’re unable to transform, does that affect their transportation (not sure if the ink transportation is just in battle or also used day to day, sorry). Once you decide what makes shifting form difficult then you can research similar issues in the real world.

Basically decide how it affects them, where it affects them, what is the closest real life equivalent, and research from there.

Splatoon 3 Fashion Challenge - Week 41: Drizzle Season 2023 Sendoff Special!

Only a week remains of Drizzle Season 2023, which introduced us to the Dread Wringer, the Heavy Edit Splatling, gear adjustment, and two of the best new stages in the game. It was a bit light on new gear, in part because it is the first season to not reintroduce any gear from the previous games, but we've still got plenty to work with, as such, the theme for this challenge is to build an outfit around any single piece of new gear introduced in the season. There was some confusion around this in the last season's final challenge, so to make it clear, only one of your items have to be brand new, but it has to be the centerpiece of the outfit. What that mean, however, I will leave up to you.

What happened after Yon ran away from Rodeo?

Well-! Yon moved into Inkopolis! And the events of Splatoon 2 happened! But more than that- she sorta realized how. unprepared she was. for how chill inkopolis society was.

Squidkids hardly going to classes- money easily made from turfwar and salmon run- she came to this halting realization that she whole ass did not need to be the person all her family and all her town wanted her to be and had prepared her to be for so many years.

It left her stumbling, her entire childhood lost to a useless preparation- but luckily Marie was there to catch her. And big sister-ed the fuck out of this disaster squid.

She got her bearings after a while, moved into her own apartment all by herself and currently is a pro turf player with the occasional visit to Grizzco!

When Hachi (who was only vaguely acquainted with her at the time) asked to move in with her, Yon agreed and became close friends with her. Hachi is close enough to know about Yon's very stressful past and they bonded over it.

So when Rodeo came waltzing into the city and up to Yon with all these old expectations- Yon has to be the one to keep Hachi from scaring him off. ("HACHI NO HE'S MY FRIEND" "hrm.")

Judging by the little cheeky emoticon I think you already know what my answer is going to be lmao.

An oversized, nautical style hoodie with dark ashy blue, white stripes and white drawstrings. I drew Gordon in this hoodie a couple of times last year so I let him borrow it again for this image.

A little update on this piece of clothing, it's still my favourite despite gaining some wear and tear. I had quite a few people ask me last time I posted about it where they could find one and I still haven't seen anything else like it, I think the design was discontinued looong before I got mine.

I've been thinking about Technoblade a lot lately. I miss him.

I have a few things I've been thinking about written below

One of the things that hit me after the news was how hard it was to explain the impact he had. My parent's reaction was basically "a youtuber died? Oh, wait you're crying, I'm sorry it's making you so sad." When I heard the news, I was working on a piece of art that I planned on being the first thing I posted where he would see it. I haven't finished it still. I never got to share the impact he had on me, or the fact that he was the reason I'm making art again in the first place.

What is hard to explain to others is that it wasn't the youtube part that made it sad. I wasn't grieving for a youtube channel, I was/am grieving for the person behind it.

Technoblade had a skill and dedication that I had never seen before in minecraft youtube and doubt I ever will again. There's something mesmerizing about watching his videos and seeing movements in his character that seem natural and expressive, and a skill that makes the most talented player run. Like technodad said, sometimes you would question if the other players could even see him. But most people who watch his videos know there's so much more than that.

Technoblade is probably one of the best people I will ever know, even if I only knew him from videos. Some of the stories we only learned after. Like Techno checking in on friends who were struggling, or calling sick friends every day, or creating lore for a dying server. But there's so much more that we knew already.

For a man with a reputation of selling out and asking for money, I have never seen a man give more. His siblings can go to college, if they want. I cry every time I think about it. He raised so much for the sarcoma foundation, but even before then he was giving so much. His fans were over a third of the UHC donations, that's over a third of the donations from one person's fans in a 200-person international event that he wasn't even planning on joining. In MCC pride they added a bell because he asked, so that they would get more donations.

Even not considering charitable donations, we know he was helping so many of his friends. I remember hearing from mcc channels about his intro videos for his teammates. I remember mccs of him sending raids to smaller channels. I remember animators thanking him for being the only one to respond when they asked for audio files to use.

He always encourages his fans to be a good community and it showed. I remember the potato wars, and him calling out fans for being rude and encouraging respect and support for squidkid, and supporting him instead of dragging him down. I remember mcc games where fans were angry, and Techno was telling his team that they did well and reminding the chat to thank the crew for their time and effort organizing. I remember him emphasizing that no one should be pressured to be perfect, and that the tournament should be fun. I remember his dsmp character changing to be more accurate to what he said instead of sensationalizing, and a story line that changed to include more people. I remember a dry humor that made the dark plot of the dsmp accessible to the people that wouldn't have been able to watch otherwise. I remember chat requests for callouts to lgbt groups that were always instantly answered with acceptance. I remember skywars videos titled just so that they sounded better for colleges, but techno teaching us anyways. I remember fans responding to hate by making a charity raffle for coral conservation, responding to sadness by donating to cancer research. I remember a man who told us his odds were better than they truly were so that he didn't make us sad, who made jokes about his surgeries, and made merch about his death, giving us something to laugh at even as we cried.

I remember chats filled with thousands of people asking Technoblade for a story and listening for hours as he shared his stories with us.

I miss him. I miss the good and acceptance and joy he brought to a community of millions. But the community is still here, and I will forever be glad for that.
