The writing style has changed from a shortish to multi-paragraph one, plotting/already existing circles are relied on more than earlier, aesthetics in promos/replies are used more (and some assume them to be a thing & are elitist af) and specific RPCs are as dead as Maya Amano at the end of P2: IS.

I'm not that surprised on all changes but I do wish that accessibility & readability of your replies & theme could be considered more by the aesthetics-heavy people. Thank God I haven't ran into those people yet.

This kind of situation wasn't that unusual in the Shirogane twin household, considering that both had a somber approach for things. Naoto would either say or do something too direct and she'd get a nonverbal reminder why - and in the lucky scenario a constructive comment -

"If you have any other critique in how I should have approached a Junes hater who said that I was a hypocrite since I helped them out on a request of a close aqcuintance, I am all ears. They were idiots and in my opinion needed to hear how ridiculous their claims were." Had they never seen her use mainly Shiroku Store or assumed she'd be a boring wallflower to follow trends like a sheep?

Too much focus on how the fandom is your safe space 24/7 isn’t 100 % good for you if you ask me. It can work and it’s a positive thing that you have something what sparks joy, but if the said areas become either inaccessible or uncomfy to be in, you lost your entire support web and can fall in blind hatred. Too much hate for no reason is just pointless. If you dislike that fandom focuses too much on topic X and doesn’t seem to get your point, take a break and re-evaluate if you want to hang out there as much as you used to.

People have lives offline and separated from their favorite series/online identity for a fuckin’ reason. Even though some may only have online friends, it doesn’t mean that they sometimes don’t log off and take breaks from an intense fandom spaces.

My opinion on most ships during P4 is really ambivalent since in general I don’t ship Yu with anyone during the in-game events. It’s sth I don’t see being a thing as a person who requires a fuckton of trust & sees P4 anime!Yu as the definitive Yu in my eyes instead of game!Yu. (Like ya’ll can have your own perfect protags but mine is anime!Yu. He is bf goals and deserves a hug and a good support web in his life.)

But there IS some ships in P4 involving Naoto & IT cast what I can’t stand. Kannao is teetering on the line since the more intense fans have ruined that ship for me & all interest I had for it isn’t coming back. It’s the closest thing for her in P4 cast (And in general I don’t ship Naoto with anyone during her 1st year nor advocate for immediate ships. The only fuckin’ case I have is one yunao, and even that was her first with the only Yu she is biased towards.)

In the case of Yu, I dislike ships what are in-your-face and almost... pressured at you. They exist for the sake of a social sim option and don’t feel fluent to me AT ALL + are awkward as Hell. The list includes all SLs with Yu x insert female peer here such as Yu x Culture Club girls and Yu x Ai. If it was written a bit differently THEN I’d consider it but as it is now in the Social Link... my God. How about no.

Most IT SLs are fluent enough but oof some feel shoehorned af.

There is a difference between compelling romance for teens and rushed romance for teens, and P4 has the former for so many SLs (and P3, don’t even get me started on that.) it’s a shame bc the world deserves better teen romances leading to a potential long distance relationship.

I don’t think that most in-game P4 ships for IT would reaaaallly work during the main events. Maybe after the game and/or spinoffs, but during the biggest event chains and the resolution of Good Ending is just uncanny to me. It does exist in there due to the gameplay loop and the nature of new gen Persona games (social sim + SL split to platonic and romantic.), but it sounds too rushed and like a recepy for disaster when ONLY focusing on the storywriting and plot. 

Since the whole squad during Persona 4 is stupid teenagers solving a serial kidnapping case (yes, I’m counting Naoto in it) there’s internal crises of their own, high school to worry about and a murderer on the loose. In my opinion it’s most likely not in their biggest interest or focus at that moment.

At least if I were in that position, even though there would be some emotions I’d set them aside to focus on the bigger issue and only after that probably panic my guts out on how to deal with that emotional shitshow.

The earliest I think it’d make sense for anyone to focus on more nonchalant things for a normal teenager after Adachi is captured and Yameno-Sagiri defeated for good. This doesn’t count Izanami because she is intended to be like a plot twist/gut punch to show you that there was a higher being pulling the strings and causing the fog to settle in.

I’m throwing the yunao drabble to Read More bc I wrote more than I assumed (and now have feels for these two. Hlep.)

Naoto should’ve expected this outcome to happen. She had been hanging out with Yu like usually while both were doing homework simultaneously with snacks and had plans to maybe watch a movie with him and Nanako. She had assumed that he’d listened for the whole time on the timeline of Detective Conan and what movies she had seen so either her information dump was slow while both had taken a break on the sofa on his room.

When had he even fallen asleep? It must’ve been before the recap of second movie and during or after the third movie and how she’d personally disagreed some of the changes to animation style or execution of the plot ideas. 

Now that she thought on this more, she hadn’t ever taken a closer look on how Yu looked when he wasn’t stressed or putting up an act for pothers. Yu had improved in that but she could still sense how he wasn’t as vulnerable with most people at IT as she was with her. She supposed it was a badge of honor she’d earnt, but still… she couldn’t lie on being concerned on his sanity. The concern she had on him did shift to focusing on not moving an inch to make sure her shoulder, acting as a rough pillow, didn’t move too much.

Since when was her boyfriend so adorable? The haircut he had fit him really well and while the eyelashes were the usual length for an average male, that combined with the face and the eye color it was almost perfect. Emphasis on almost perfect because she knew that a perfect human on aesthetical standpoint could never exist, but in her point of view Yu was one of the most stunning people to ever exist.

No wonder she’d fallen for him without realizing that, especially after his personality and willingness to see her as a person and not categorize her as a girly girl immediately. It’d been a risk to start a relationship at the same year but the risk in question had been one of the best decisions in her life. They were two not ideal people, yes, but they somehow were a good match and there hadn’t been too harsh arguments yet. She really hoped that if there was, they’d be able to sort them out without any crisis.

First relationships were already fragile since both parties were inexperienced and likely to fuck up, and that would have huge consequences for both. She didn’t know Yu had anxiety on their success as a couple like she did, but it was on her mind on a regular basis and something she should address if it started to bug her more.

The lax pacing on Yu’s breathing halted her train of thought and brought her focus back to her boyfriend. Naoto only smiled at the whole moment and combed through his hair with her hand while hoping this moment would last for longer than only five minutes. After all, she was trusted enough for this honor and she liked to think it was proof on how they’d last for longer than an average teenager couple at Yaso High. It’d be more than an one-week fling, what they had was stable and long term.

Hell yes. The dynamic between our girls in this AU has so much potential, especially when it's on mutual recovery and how both get sth from the friendship. I can see that both being a good influence to each other in how maybe revenge isn't an option, strong emotions like anger can easily be used against you & that law and people you may idolise have the ugly side she's never seen earlier.

(In hindsight it should be obvious as Hell but she hasn't worked in that many PDs at that point and she hasn't experienced the incompetence of the police force/unfair treatment as directly as Kotone had.)

There's a reason she lets her rationality go during The Answer.

Most of the pieces of canon I disagree with are related to her SL and the game!Naoto and the OOC outfit choices what exist in the game. The two main examples I have is that I don’t see Naoto to be a primarily dog person or to like billiards / agree to wear some of the agregious outfit choices she’d be uncomfy with. I still don’t understand why the Halloween outfit exists for Naoto since it’s sth Rise would wear and refuse to claim my girl would be fine w/ that existing. Try to get her to wear a Cat Girl Outfit or anything too feminine and you’re getting a clear “No, I refuse to do that” and her being resentful for a bit bc she’s questioning if the trust was even worth the effort.

Naoto’s viewpoint and opinion on pets and owning them. I think that I’ve said at some point that in my opinion Naoto is neither a car ot dog person but I haven’t gone to full details on it.

That, or more on Naoto’s willingness to tell about her most obscure cases.

The thing I adore in Naoto is how she’s not afraid to be honest even though she’s loyal to people she trusts. The fact how she’ll call out BS of anyone is sth I appreciate (even though she won’t be too rash about it). The aspect what I dislike in her is how she’s stubborn to a fault and capable to pull an all-nighter to finish a case & risk her health as a result + take risks in her job what aren’t that smart.

Hmm... I’m proud how I fleshed out how Naoto is more tnan a perfect person and am not hiding how she can be at times impatient. Even though the game gives an impression that she’s the Detective Prince and perfect, professional, suave and everything you’d want for a celebrity detective the reality is a polar opposite. 

Instead of the assumption she’s a person who has simultaneous superior and inferior complex depending on the people/target in focus. Naoto is a teenager with an IQ of 1000, who was forced to grow up too quickly and as a result she’s isolated and rude & frankly put values people who appear as ones who “don’t waste her time”. On one hand she wants to be like people of her age but doesn’t know how or if people accept her as a normal person who is pretty bad at social skills and isn’t as good as people assume her to be.

I don’t know how other Naoto muns than I know write her negative sides, but I personally think that claiming that Naoto is perfect and ignoring her downsides is giving a wrong impression and ignoring why I started to like Naoto to begin with. She was a rude person for no reason and grew up to be more civil and cooperate more with her peers and colleagues and to not show her distaste to them as clearly as she’d done earlier. We’re ignoring that she uses the :/ expression and even voice tone as the ultimate weapon to fool people at work. The personal growth and the change you can see in her having an actual close aqcuintance/friend group and more social skills is really inspiring to see and a point of her character.

She was and is still a mess, but she is a mess who I love more than any other Persona character.

The way you’ve managed to nail down Chie’s energy and personality is really excellent & you get Naoto. You get how she’s an awkward, depressed and intelligent mess who isn’t perfect but is still gifted at her job. Based on what I’ve seen at P5 you also are great at writing Makoto and it’s a joy to see.
