Happy Valentines Day Shana!! 💕💕 Sybok and Jim contiuation? I wanna see more of Sybok teasing the shit out of Spock for his oblivious crush
a continuation of 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
It's rude to speak in a language not everyone present speaks, however Sybok became immune to social niceties around the time his father stopped bringing him to official functions. He switches to High Vulcan to say, "We can tell her I picked you up off an Orion slave ship."
Uhura's right eye twitches.
"She can understand you," Jimmy says. "She's a xenolinguist."
Bones's eyes narrow. He's so much more indignant in person than in the background of Jimmy's video calls. "What are you going on about now? I hate when you do this. I always feel like you're planning how to dispose of my body."
Jimmy had told him that Bones had started studying Vulcan. He'd also told him that he was incredibly bad at it, but not everyone can be Jimmy, which was realistically probably for the best.
He drops down to standard Vulcan to say, "Ah, so you have a talented tongue," since there's really no way to say that in High Vulcan that's a double entendre. It doesn't help that most of their potentially risque phrases are hand rather than mouth oriented, but he's learned to make do.
Spock turns an unhealthy shade of pale as his eyes widen the tiniest amount in abject horror.
Uhura raises her eyebrow in a way that reminds him of his brother. "To master a language is the study of a lifetime. I would be most appreciative if you were to give me a hand in achieving this endeavor."
Spock's skin flushes and he looks around like he's seriously considering running away from this conversation.
Sybok is delighted.
"Uhurua!" Jimmy shouts, hands on his hips. "Come on! I say that to you and you don't even let me buy you a drink, but you'll just proposition Sybok in the middle of the hallway?"
"She did what?" Bones hisses.
That is one possible interpretation of her words.
"I might have gotten around to propositioning you too," she says, "if you hadn't gotten your ass beat."
"Okay, I think I did okay, actually," Jimmy argues while Bones's face morphs into an expression eerily similar to Spock's.
He loves Earth.

Thinking about Jim, do you think he also gets this good cop good father protection because of Barbara Gordon's admiration of him? Reading it from Barbara's perspective like all her stories have Jim Gordon as the best dad and her wanting to be a cop or as a child being the gcpd little cheerleader. Like trying to tie that with her role as Oracle but then even thinking of like The Hill where Jim shot and killed a teenager and his response to the mother was that the kid was armed like... it is hard to think that she would have that blind admiration of him. I also think she is more willing to work with morally questionable characters since she has a history of working with those types of characters. What do you think DC needs to do with Barbara Gordon to get actual interest in her again?
the solution for babs is simple — she needs to be oracle again.
no ifs whens or buts — babs being batgirl again is such a spectacular downgrade from her time as oracle it’s almost unreal. babs as a character, her growth after being shot, her rediscovery and pursuit of her own autonomy, her vindictiveness, her need for control, her relationships with the birds and wendy and cass and steph, make her an infinitely richer and more interesting character than when she wears the cowl. that’s even ignoring the ableist rhetoric behind her “reclaiming” her power by getting an implant and leaving her chair, which like, vom, because it’s a whole other can of worms.
unlike batwoman where there’s a completely different identity and mantle that’s seperate from bruce, batgirl is unequivocally the subordinate to batman. the girl denotes her lack of authority. cass and helena come the closest to shaking this off, but it’s still a very deliberate character dynamic that dc upholds. batgirl 2009 also successfully orients the mantle around babs and steph, but a large part of that is that bruce isn’t present in the story.
babs was at least two years older than dick in the original canon. she was a librarian who had a life outside of the community. she was a support for other disabled women. she’d tell bruce to shut the fuck up to his face. she was singularly the most important resource to the league and all other hero teams. she was a complicated person with a lot of trauma, not the cool girlfriend archetype. i also dislike that she’s dating dick while he’s nightwing and she’s still batgirl. imagine if they made dick robin again and had him date babs as oracle. it’d be so weird!
wrt jim gordon— a lot of babs’s unequivocal support of him comes from dc’s general inability to admit that he’s a deeply flawed human being in a position of power. the narrative rarely actually criticises him over his decisions. however, i also think people forget that like…. a lot of babs’s politics is tied up with the police. she’s essentially a one woman surveillance state, and she historically struggles with boundaries around the people she loves. she does work with people that the other bats wouldn’t — isley, waller, etc, but i don’t think that necessarily separates her from the police because often the police or armed forces do the same thing. her modus operandi is also very similar to bruce in a lot of ways too.
in saying that tho, i do appreciate that she’s willing to just say fuck it, full throttle and getting a god damned law degree to bust bruce out of a murder charge. she’s an icon. let her be cunty again!!

I am a kelvin spirk fan- i support all spirk but i don't think anything can replace the 2009 casting for me, especially the chemistry between chris/zach.
as exciting as snw seems, it breaks my heart because it feels like the kelvin timeline will be forgotten. i'm just sad
I know exactly how you feel about AOS, because I feel the same.
A little backstory, if you don't mind. I used to watch TOS with my father when I was a child, but I was too young to ship Spock and Kirk. I understood they were close friends - and I loved Spock so much, with all the excited and tender love a child can have for a fictional character.
When the Kelvin timeline started in 2009, I was reluctant at first. I couldn't see another actor than Leonard Nimoy play Spock. But I was hooked - the chemistry between Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine was off the charts 💙
I could go on and on about what makes this particular couple work. I love how they share that same restlessness, the brashness of youth, even though Spock's is more contained and operates within regulations. "Kelvin Spirk" was my sole hyperfixation for years on end in my early twenties.
I started watching Discovery when it came out - and stopped as soon as I learned Spock would make an appearance. I still wasn't over Leonard Nimoy's death, and while Zach Quinto had the privilege of having his guidance to play this iconic character, Ethan Peck wouldn't.
A few weeks ago I decided to give Strange New Worlds a chance, but to me Peck's Spock is an entirely different character. He isn't Spock, the character I grew up loving and who then became one half of my favorite ship ever - he's just another Vulcan named Spock.
He's good, and SNW is good in others ways TOS and AOS were good. We all have a favorite series, and for me it will always be the Kelvin timeline. I will never stop loving them.
Chris Pine and Zach Quinto have a chemistry that resonates with me. I love them as a ship - and to me they represent a part of my young adult life, getting involved into fandom more seriously.
William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy 💔 are my childhood, and I love their love like a child loves their parents' love.
But I'm ready to give Ethan Peck and Paul Wesley a chance. From the little I've seen so far, I don't feel any particular chemistry - but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy seeing them interact. I probably won't be shipping them, but that's okay.
Live long and prosper, my anonymous friend. Please know that your ask made my day, I deeply enjoyed answering it while sipping my morning coffee 💙

steve harrington's kinklist (top 5) ✨
i figured similarly to this post about murray, i'd rank steve's favourite kinks..ur welcome
Tumblr media
faceriding~
now this doesn't necessarily exclude straight up oral, but this boy def enjoys being ridden. his dick? yes, ofc. but even better than that, having his partner sat atop his face, grinding down onto his awaiting tongue is his vibe. like, he's gotten off to that fantasy many a time.
he's a big fan of the opportunity it gives him to grope and squeeze your thighs and tummy too, bc despite being on top, you are kinda at his mercy here. he'll caress and squish every patch of skin available, and esp loves giving the occasional spank (esp when you start to buck into his mouth, and give the tell-tale squeal of getting close).
masochism~
despite liking being in charge, i do think his personality lends itself to giving and exchanging power (as we'll see below); he's def a dom!switch, or even straight up a bratty!switch. getting him to turn over that leaf sometimes can be tricky, as he's so used to girls expecting him to take the lead; hence why he's a bit of a painbaby. steve's 100% a sucker for a bit of masochism.
he's not too big on sadism or inflicting pain, but receiving it is his jam. pushing him up against a wall mid-makeout, groping his forearms and/or thighs and putting all ur weight on him when you ride/sit in his lap just makes him extra hard. he's also def a whore for the cliche romcom wrist-grabbing too - like, do u have a place you want to take him? don't ask, or lead, just grab him by the wrist and drag him places, he loves it
quickies~
he's got a job (ice cream), and another job (perpetual nanny of 6), and also another job (defeating monsters)...so, he takes it where can get it. you want him here, now? he's down. this applies to everything too - not just the occasional hand or blowjob, but straight up fucking.
despite now being a mom of 6, he was once a horny idiot teenager, so he knows all the secret screwing areas, and will most def be up for some games when ur watching the new star wars or driving to his place in the car. slip a hand in his pants, start tugging at his hardened length, and he won't stop you, ngl
hair pulling~
as discussed, he's a slut. but also a slut for pain. grab this boy's locks and he'll groan extra loud for you; he keeps that head of hair well-maintained not just for the aesthetics, but bc they go through a lot of pulling and groping when he's getting to it, i mean-
it's great, it's multipurpose. great for steering his pretty mouth to wherever you need it, or pulling him close to you to give a sloppy open-mouthed kiss behind the ice cream counter, or push him down onto the pillow so you can just ride your orgasm away all over his face, like, he rlly appreciates when his hair is tugged (and head massages too, likely)
power play~
as discussed, he's a dom!switch or brat!switch depending on the day; the baseline in your relationship is that ultimately it goes back to him being in charge. buuut that doesn't mean you can't play games - bc he loves a game. not a challenge like billy, nor a battle of wits like hopper, but a fun sexually-charged ping-pong match, if you will.
some flirty remarks here, a couple gropes and kisses there, and maybe some "no!"s or blatantly ignoring his commands or rules. trying to fight back on a punishment you were given for last time's fiasco is a great example of this, bc ultimately he's a simpy whore who'll let you get what you want. def representative of playing the game not for the kill, but the chase (but the kill fuck is a lovely bonus ofc).
there u go, i hope that satiated ur kinky needs :)
feel like requesting? they're open, so give me some ideas!
also some more tags bc i figure y'all would like this: @enamorededdie @spicedchaiandromeda @stargirlfics @anythingjimhopper @goodboyriddler @spideyheartsmaryjane-blog @anisbaby @princesssmimi @thedanoriddler @lost-in-sokovia @killerlookz @kelsiejayy @mypoisonedvine @creme-bruhlee @spilledkauffie @kaylawritesfics @inklore @babybugwrites @littlepadika @underratedcharactersimagines @becca-e-barnes @callsign-rogueone @wishilovedyouinthe80s @jaiheats @freshfleshandblood @axen-gers @wingedjellyfishrebel @interplanetarytraveler

In honor of StrickLake month, what are your favorite headcannons about their relationship from the show?
Okay. I was working on answering this, but it all got deleted. 😭
Anyway. I do have loads of HC's about Stricklake. But I'll keep them short, anyone else is welcome to add on their own headcanons, I like to see them!
I am a firm believer that the only reason Barbara allowed Strickler back into her life was because he didn't come back to win her favour again, he came back to help in whatever way was needed. And he apologised. (I refuse to think he didn't apologise to Barbara off screen).
This doesn't probably need saying but Barbara was the first to fall in love. For Walter it took a while to realise his feelings were true and by then he thought at the time he was too late.
Barbara and Strickler's relationship was firmly based on friendship first. That strong bond was more important to Barbara than their romantic relationship, and that is probably why they ended up together again.
Walter has a lot of insecurities around his troll form, and it took a while for Barbara to convice him she loved him for who he really was, not what he was pretending to be. After a few months, Strickler began to truly be comfortable in his actual skin.
For a long time in the early days of their relationship, Strickler thought it was taking Barbara out and showering her in gifts that made a relationship. Only after the Eternal night did he realise it was small, domestic things that actually mattered. Cooking Barbara breakfast, cleaning the house, caring for the familiars, caring for JIM.

Wed Bed Befriend: FMA Edition! Roy, Jean, Sig
Oh no this is actually really tough
I think it’s gotta be befriend Sig not because the other two are inherently more husband material (they’re not lmao) but because he and Izumi are a pair that shan’t be separated by anything, like they love each other so much I could never
Bed Roy this man is unequivocally not husband material, but it’d be a fun night bc he’s literally drowning in sisters who are sex workers it’s not possible he doesn’t know what he’s doing
And wed Jean I’m sure he’d be a very sweet considerate spouse and he’d make me laugh. Sure, I’d wife him.

The fact that Jim canonically is over dramatic to medical staff is pretty funny
It's one of my favorite things about him, honestly.
I do love the idea that he's only like this with a select few he's comfortable with. Like, he's still a little reactive with the staff in general just because he's kind of known for that, but I do so love the idea that he's only Like That with Bones and Chapel because he feels most safe with them.

Star Trek please!! Happy Halloween
a continuation of 1 2 3 4 5 6
Admiral Archer is unwilling to take his rescission at face value and demands a more complete explanation. To Spock's relief, and the gathered students' disappointment, he's willing to hear it in his private office.
Captain Pike slips in behind them, which gets him an irritated scowl but the admiral allows it. Spock is only marginally surprised by this. Admiral Archer and Captain Pike are known to be on good terms and James Kirk had entered the academy on Captain Pike's recommendation.
"Explain," Admiral Archer demands.
Spock hesitates.
Starfleet is of course aware of the events that took place on Tarsus IV and so they must be equally aware of James Kirk's role in it. While Admiral Archer certainly has the clearance to know the particulars, it does not mean that he does, and Spock is loathe to reveal these particulars, even to someone who could find them out himself. Additionally, Captain Pike does not have the necessary clearance, and while he does not think that James Kirk would allow his presence if he did not wish him to know, or had not already told him, Spock cannot be certain and there is no way for him to ask.
"Commander," Admiral Archer snaps. "Is this a joke to you?"
"No, sir," he answers. He doesn't find any of this funny at all.
James Kirk steps up next to him and rests a hand on his shoulder. Spock resists the urge to flinch and shoots him a disapproving look. The contact is not skin on skin, but any casual contact is discouraged. James Kirk is very well aware of Vulcan customs.
Then again, his point of contact for Vulcan culture is Sybok. His brother had been significantly more... affectionate after Tarsus IV. Spock wonders if that's something he picked up from his association with James Kirk.
"It's alright," James Kirk says warmly. "Spock, tell Admiral Archer whatever you want him to know."
He doesn't remove his hand. Human's run hot, their physiology not perfectly calibrated to survive in the deep heat of the desert, but even still James Kirk's hand feels unusually warm.
"I was unaware of Cadet Kirk's background with facing impossible odds when I made my accusation," he says. "Having been made aware of it, my perspective has shifted. Cadet Kirk does not allow rules or the constraints of logic prevent him from doing what he believes must be done. This was what he was demonstrating by bypassing and reprogramming my system."
He can feel James Kirk staring at him but he doesn't take his eyes of Admiral Archer.
Admiral Archer frowns. "You didn't know he was on Tarsus IV with your brother?"
That he already knows is a source of relief. The incredulity is less.
"Spock had exams the time I went to Vulcan," James Kirk says. "Sybok loves an excuse to go off-planet, so we usually meet up on Earth. Spock and I have never met before." He turns to him with a grin that Spock is distinctly uncomfortable having aimed in his direction. "I should have known the second I saw you. You look a lot like your mother."
Being compared to one's mother on Vulcan is a high compliment. Or it's supposed to be. Spock's had those same words hurled at him before, but it was with cruelty, as a way to demean him rather than honor the woman who bore him.
James Kirk say the words easily, exactly as they are intended to be spoken.
"You're driving me to drink," Admiral Archer says.
Spock has no idea how to appropriately respond to that.
"What about me? You're driving me to drink," James Kirk says, "which is driving Bones to as of yet unknown heights of nagging. The stress isn't good for him but he keeps threatening me with hypos when I tell him that. Can't I just be concerned for my friend?"
That is not an appropriate response on top of being incomprehensible.
Admiral Archer rubs his forehead. "Chris."
"Sir," Captain Pike returns, grabs the back of James Kirk's jacket, and hauls him out of there like grabbing a wayward kitten by the scruff of its neck.
Spock stands there, unsure, until Admiral Archer glances up and says, "You too, Commander. I'll consider this matter closed."
He nods, "Thank you, Sir," and steps outside to an empty hall. Captain Pike and James Kirk are nowhere to be seen.
Once he returns to his quarters, he video calls his brother.
He doesn't pick up.
Typical.

Do you mind elaborating what you mean by the cool girlfriend archetype in your Barbara Gordon post? What do you feel about James Gordon (Barbara’s brother)? Do you think he was a good addition or not a good addition to that family? When you think about the Gordons they really would be a very dysfunctional family but admittedly I kind of wish he wasn’t portrayed as some serial killer. I know Jim had sons before the creation of Barbara and then later Barbara had an older brother and then it kept changing, but I would have liked to have seen the Gordon have a much bigger family especially since the Gordons play a part within Gotham. Barbara just having a lot of brothers and comics centered around their dynamic.
i actually disagree — babs is surrounded by enough men in her life, and i don’t think having a lot of brothers would be helpful in her development as a character. her smaller immediate family is a good point of comparison to bruce’s family. additionally, having a lot of brothers immediately encourages a specific character beat, being the tomboy who’s a competent physical fighter “because i have x number of older brothers,’ etc, which is not babs at all. she’s entrenched enough with the bats, and i greatly prefer that most of her significant relationships are with women. id also say that she has very powerful only child energy, imo.
that also ties into what i was talking about with the cool girl thing — babs as she’s often portrayed in current comics (especially nightwing) reminds me a lot of amy’s monologue from gone girl. babs pre-2011 was a very difficult person for a lot of reasons. she was very loving, very opinionated, and very controlling. i actually really enjoy their relationship from this period, but only because there was equilibrium and they were both allowed to be themselves. in the new comics, tom taylor doesn’t give babs her personality, and as a result she’s a sassy, flat, hot woman for dick to date. she’s just very tepid, and the fact that she’s still batgirl just makes it worse.
for ur other question, when ur looking at the gordons as a unit, it’s important to remember why they arent a big family. jim gordon cheated on his first wife with sarah wesson in batman year one, just before his son is born. in post-crisis continuity, babs also isn’t jim gordon’s bio daughter, she’s actually his niece (although their relationship is clearly that of a parent + child). honestly, i like their dynamic as a father and daughter duo, and i don’t think adding more kids would improve it. i do also really enjoy black mirror, but jim jr being a serial killer can be lazy writing, although i also like his dynamic with both dick and babs and his dad. he could be an interesting angle for jim gordon to examine his own violence, and how jim justifies the actions he’s taken in his life, but i don’t have much hope of that happening.
