one could only dream || ᵏᵃᵏᵘᶜʰᵒ
he told you he'd protect you. so why is he the one threatening your life right now?
pairing: kakucho hitto x fem!reader
context: szn three spoilers, angst (no comfort), character death, violence and guns, definitely some grammar/spelling mistakes
note: i quite literally forgot the name of this timeline but it was the timeline where kakucho kills takemichi and naoto yk yk
Tumblr media
growing up, you and kakucho were inseparable.
ever since the day you met him at the convenience store, you knew he was going to be your other half. despite you being a big figure in toman and him being tenjiku's second in command, both of you still figured out a way to be together.
now that you two were older, your relationship had taken the next step. you officially moved in with him and left all the gang stuff behind, wanting to live a nice and quiet life.
kakucho still stayed in a gang, but you didn't mind it. he knew how to separate his work and personal life, which you were grateful for. you were also thankful he didn't bring up his best friend, izana, because you absolutely despised him. you still hadn't forgiven him for plotting emma's death.
but somehow you could forgive kakucho and you didn't know why.
maybe it was the way he kissed you so gently and held you so warmly. maybe it was the way he told you he loved you every single day. maybe it was the way he put your safety first, promising to protect you from anything and anyone.
so why was he pointing a gun at you right now?
you thought he cared about you- he loved you. he told you he'd protect you.
one could only dream.
Tumblr media
two hours earlier
"when are you and your man going to get married? i swear, you guys are attached at the hip at this point."
you and your friend were currently hanging out at a cafe, the coffee in your hands still steaming hot.
you chuckled, "to be honest, i think he's hiding something from me."
your friend gasped, "no way! do you think he's hiding a ring?"
"maybe! i don't know! i don't wanna get my hopes up," you smiled thinking about how kakucho had been oddly suspicious lately.
"girl, trust me, that man is head over heels for you. what has he been doing that makes you so suspicious of him?"
you pursed your lips, "well, he's been a lot more nervous around me recently. i don't know why!"
"it's definitely cause he's scared to propose."
"kaku's always been nervous about things like that. it took him all his courage to ask me to be his girlfriend."
"okay, say he proposes tomorrow. are you ready for marriage?"
marriage?
you've been with kakucho for years. you know he could be an amazing husband, with his caring nature and loving aspects.
"yeah," you smiled, "i'd love for him to be my husband."
"it won't be long before kids start coming too."
you spit out the coffee you were drinking, "okay that's a little too far into the future!"
she laughed at your reaction, but you couldn't help but think of having a family with kakucho. him taking care of the kids and taking them to school. you could get used to a life like that.
one could only dream.
Tumblr media
after coming back from the cafe, you entered your and kakucho's house.
you should've known something was wrong when you saw izana's shoes on the doorstep.
"kaku? i saw your car out, are you home?" your voice rang out through the house.
no answer.
you exhaled and called out kakucho's name again, but he still didn't answer. from the window, you saw small droplets of water drip down the clear glass.
"hm, it's raining."
looking away from the window, you glanced over at the living room to see if there was any evidence of him being there.
that was when you saw it.
your white couch, stained with something red. it wasn't a lot of blood, just a smidge of it.
something was wrong.
"kaku?" you called out as you ran upstairs, trying to find him.
that was when you heard a grunt coming from your master bedroom.
you swallowed the lump in your throat and pushed open the door to see your boyfriend, bloodied and beaten up. izana was right next to him, smiling at the kakucho while whispering sayings to him.
"kaku?" you called out and ran to him, "oh my god, kaku what happened?"
ignoring the white-haired man beside you, you cupped kakucho's face and examined his injuries. "who did this to you? oh my gosh, you have bruises everywhere, what happened?"
you didn't notice that kakucho didn't give you a single glance when you came into the room. when he finally looked at you, his eyes were blank. it looked like the life had been sucked out of them.
you had no choice but to get answers from the male next to you, "kurokawa, what happened?"
the white-haired man just shrugged and smiled, "he seemed to forget what his priorities in life were. i had to reteach them to him."
"you did this to him?"
izana nodded, causing your hand to fly up and slap him across the face. you clenched your jaw, raising your hand to do it again when someone grabbed your wrist to stop you.
kakucho did.
"kaku, let go! he hurt you!" you wriggled in his grip, but he was too strong.
"stop, y/n, he's right. i have forgotten what's important in this world."
"baby, what are you talking about?"
he let go of your wrist and glared at you. there was a certain look in his eyes, a look you knew was dangerous.
you were scared.
"you," he started, "are a problem."
"don't problems need to be taken care of?"
"what?" was the only thing you could muster out.
"he met takemitchy the other day," izana said from behind you, "it was a real eye-opener for him."
kakucho spoke, "takemichi is an obstacle and only causes problems, so-"
"i killed him."
you stared at kakucho, tears starting to build up in your eyes, "k-kaku, i thought you said you didn't kill."
he ignored what you said, "you- you are causing problems because you are distracting. you distract me from izana's real goal. you distract me from izana. i am loyal to only izana."
it sounded like he was trying to convince himself of that too.
you were panicking. this wasn't your kakucho. your kakucho wouldn't look at you like that. your kakucho wouldn't say these things.
"kaku-"
there's a gun. he pulled it out of his pocket. you didn't even notice he had one on him.
he's pointing it at you. his finger is on the trigger.
"did kurokawa say something to you? is that why you're like this?"
"i only told him what was right. it seemed like he was living some fairytale with you, so i told him to get rid of you," izana smiled, "kakucho, do it."
you saw kakucho's lips go into a fine line, then replied, "yes, izana."
you didn't feel it at first. you didn't know why but you just didn't. it wasn't until a few seconds later that you felt your breathing intensify and red liquid trickle onto your skin. you dropped to the ground, small and quick breaths escaping your mouth.
kakucho crouched near you, watching as the life slowly left you eyes.
"k-kaku," you mustered out, tears running down your face, "i loved you. i always l-loved you. how could you do this?"
he let out a heavy sigh, "i'm sorry, y/n."
"i w-wanted to marry you," you choked and saw your vision get blurry.
he sighed, "one could only dream, y/n."
he shut your eyes after seeing you breathe out your last breath and stood back up.
"one could only dream,” he repeated softly, not knowing if he was saying it to you or to himself this time.

Tumblr media
pairing: Keisuke Baji x f!reader
warning(s): angst no comfort, breakup, mention of character death
A/N: Heyo! Sooo…yeah. As you can see, this is another angst story. Long story short, Baji pulls a Takemichi and breaks up with the reader to protect them. But, just listen to the song while reading this! I swear, this shit made me cry while typing 😭 enjoy!
Tumblr media
“Meet me outside after school. I need to talk to you…”
Those were the words Baji had said to you for the first time in a week. Usually, he’d greet you with a warm smile and a small kiss to the forehead. But, that wasn’t the case. Baji had been acting weird the past few days and would avoid you everyday, even outside of school. You tried to look for Chifuyu to ask him what was Baji’s deal, but even he refused to talk to you or give any closure on the situation.
The minute school was out, you quickly began to pack your belongings and meet Baji outside. You found him at the back of the school, leaning against the wall with his hair down and his hands shoved into his pockets. He then glanced at you, but wore a serious expression, which made you anxious as to what he wanted to talk to you about.
“What is it that you wanted to talk about, Keisuke?” You asked nervously. Baji pushed himself off the wall and walked towards you.
“I’m breaking up with you.”
You felt your heart sink to your stomach as you stared at him in disbelief. He wore the same stoic expression on his face whilst you felt tears prick your eyes.
“W-what..?” You meekly said.
“Did you not hear me, Y/N? I want to break up. I don’t like you anymore. We’re done.”
His sharp words dug into you like daggers as the tears in your eyes fell freely down your face.
“Kei…you can’t be serious…”
“What does it matter? I don’t like you! Never fucking did! I only asked you out because I hated being teased by our class for being single when I was never interested in the first place! And you also happened to be one of the school’s hottest bitches, so I guess I got lucky! You were nothing but an annoying little shit and all you did was whine the whole damn time! You’re just another fucking nuisance I didn’t need in my life!”
You stood there in silence as Baji yelled in your face. So, all that time he treated you like you were his top priority, from the cute cafe dates and late night motorcycle rides, to study sessions for future tests and spending nights at his house. All his declarations of his love to you and dorky pickup lines and promises of marrying you. All of it…
Was for nothing.
More tears spilled from your eyes and you chuckled dryly at his hurtful words.
“I see…I’m sure you’ll be relieved once I leave, then. I wouldn’t want to cause you any more trouble that I already did the past year.” You said, turning on your heel to walk away. Before you did, you turn your head one last time to look at the ravenette with a sad smile.
“Goodbye…Baji.”
With that, you walk away, leaving the boy standing there. Little did you know, the moment you were out of sight, Baji couldn’t help but repeatedly punch the wall in front of him and scream at the top of his lungs as tears stained his face.
Tumblr media
A week had passed since Baji broke up with you. But ever since the incident, you refused to leave your home and locked yourself up in your room. Your mother and father grew more and more worried about you as the days passed. It was Halloween night and your friends blew your phone up trying to invite you to hang out with them, but none of their texts and calls were returned.
For what seemed like eternity, you then heard the doorbell ring. You heard muffled voices from downstairs and recognized one of them aside from your mother’s. It was Mikey. After that, you heard your front door shut, and then heard footsteps from down the hall walking towards your room.
“Y/N, it’s mom. Your friends stopped by a bit ago and wanted me to tell you something.” Your mom paused for a second, letting out a small sigh before continuing.
“Keisuke passed away.”
As those words left your mother’s lips, the hole in your chest sunk deeper and deeper as your eyes widened at the news.
“It was just this afternoon. A fight broke out at an old junkyard and he was involved. He was stabbed from behind in the process…and then stabbed himself…I’m sorry, sweetheart.”
Mustering up the energy you had left, you pushed yourself out of bed and opened your door, revealing your mother’s tear stained face. She held a small box in her hands and handed it to you.
“Your friend, Mikey, told me to give this to you. It’s from Keisuke.”
You looked down at the box and hesitantly took it out of her hands. Your mom then reached for your face and gently caressed your cheek before taking her leave without another word. As you shut your door, you sat down on your bed, eyeing the small blue box in your hand. After staring at it for a bit, you finally decided to open it. Inside it was a beautiful silver ring with a blue heart in the middle of it. On each side of the heart, was both his and your name engraved into the ring. Underneath the ring was a small piece of paper with the words “to Y/N” written on the front. You took the paper out of the box and unfolded it to read it. As you did, your eyes welled up with tears and quietly sobbed, reading every word.
Y/N, my love
By the time you read this, I’m most likely dead already. But, I want you to know that what I said to you was never true. You were never a nuisance and you were never annoying. You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and I never want you to forget that. I don’t regret asking you out one bit. I love you so damn much, sometimes I can’t even help myself. No one could ever hold a candle to you. What I did to you, I did because I wanted to protect you, and I know I can never take back the words I said and the pain I caused you. I wish I could’ve told you the truth sooner, but I was certain I was being watched. You’ll always and forever be the most important person in my life. Please don’t ever forget that. Wear this ring with pride, and I’ll always be with you even when I’m not physically there. Protect everyone for me, and take care of yourself.
I love you,
Always and forever
Taking the ring out of the box, you see something engraved inside the band, making you sob even harder and your love for Baji grow even stronger.

DRUNKEN STATE [PART 1 TO TRAITOR]
your boyfriend's drunken words and actions were all it took for you to know the truth
Tumblr media
𖦹 Ken Ryuuguji x Fem! Reader
𖦹 warning/s : angst, cursing/use of profanity, Draken is using Reader, mentions of alcohol consumption, an au where in no one dies, everyone is aged up to 18+, betrayal, Toman lowkey being stupid, more angst, hurt/comfort <3, cheating, arguing
𖦹 I have to write this at some point in time 🤨🤚 also I'm on a Doraken x Reader brainrot so here's more for him
Tumblr media
"Hey guys, have you seen Draken?"
the sound of your voice made Chifuyu and Takemichi jump "H— Hey! Y/n-chan what brings you here?" you raised a brow "I'm part of Toman 'fuyu"
"right right! uhm would you like some drinks? I'd get you some. what would you like? tequila, vodka— anything!"
"yeah uhh thanks have you seen Draken?"
the duo shook their heads almost immediately "oh him? no no we uhh we haven't seen him"
"you two look rather nervous. what's going on? did something happen to him? OH! look there he is" you made your way to the booth Draken was in
"wait wait wait— Y/n don't go in ther—" too late. before they could stop you, you were already inside the booth sitting beside Draken
"Love? hey are you alright?" you leaned in to press a kiss on his lips but he pushed you away making you confused
"stop it! Emma's going to think I'm cheating on her!"
you froze "what?"
"I said stop! Emma's going to—" before he could finish his sentence you slapped him. hard. you could see your hand print forming on his cheek but you could care less.
everyone's attention turned to you two, immediately running towards the booth to see the scene unfold
"how long?" confusion painted Draken's face "how long have you been with her?!"
"6 months. why?" a scoff left your lips
"did you guys know about this?" you asked the others without looking at them but they knew your question was directed at them
they exchanged looks, nodding at each other in agreement "y— yes"
"you knew and you never told me?"
"we never told you because we wanted to protect you a— and we knew your reaction would be bad. we don't want to hurt y—"
"YOU DON'T WANT TO HURT ME?! DO I LOOK LIKE I'M NOT HURTING?! I THOUGHT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HELP EACH OTHER?! BE THERE FOR EACH OTHER!"
"WE WANTED YOU TO—"
"OH FUCK THE EXPLANATION MIKEY! I BET YOU DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO STOP THEM!"
"I DIDN'T STOP THEM BECAUSE I KNEW THEY WOULDN'T LISTEN"
"NO! YOU DIDN'T STOP THEM BECAUSE DRAKEN IS YOUR BEST FRIEND AND EMMA IS YOUR SISTER! YOU COULD'VE TOLD ME BUT NO— YOU DIDN'T!"
silence filled the room when they heard you sobbing "you're so selfish Mikey. all of you are so selfish"
"Y/n-chan we're—" you raised a hand cutting Takemichi's sentence off "stop. I now know why you two were so nervous a while ago and why you didn't want me to go the damn booth"
"Mikey" the said boy turned to you "I'm leaving Toman"
"what?" everyone stood there in shock "didn't you hear me? I said I'm leaving Toman. if the reason's still not clear to you then maybe because I don't want to be in a gang filled with traitors"
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*    *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
and that happened a few weeks ago.
so here they were standing in shock as they stared at you who's now wearing a Valhalla jacket as you stood next to Hanma as if you're never a part of Toman

Toman's protective "big sister" is their first call for every problem (Part 2)
Characters — Tokyo Manji Gang (Toman)
FEMALE READER
MANGA SPOILERS
Masterlist
Tumblr media
TOMAN’S BIG SIS
✰ (name) was 19 and running around with a bunch of middle schoolers, kicking ass - and no, she wasn’t embarrassed to say it
✰ toman quickly became her family and, as the oldest member, she established the role of ‘big sister’ - every single member used the nickname ‘big sis’ when addressing her
✰ you had randomly decided to join the gang one day after you picked mikey up and lifted him over a delinquent who was charging at him with the intent to hit him (it would’ve failed regardless)
✰ definitely made mikey laugh, and draken lowkey got angry with you for picking his short friend up without even asking
✰ boom, mikey dubbed you his big sis and asked you to carry him around - how could you deny those puppy dog eyes??
✰ this was when mikey was twelve, and you were sixteen - and you’ve been stuck with them ever since
✰ you looked after all of the boys when they were younger; they all seemed to lack a stable, consistent parental figure in their lives so you became that role model
✰ you definitely dragged baji around by his ear because he kept getting into fights, and then you’d do the same to kazutora for joining in (they’d get really pouty and teary eyed about it, so you’d hug them afterwards)
✰ pah would probably have really ‘tradiontal’ views of women until you showed up - and now he respects women wholeheartedly and would never dream of reverting to his old ways of thinking
✰ you also picked them up from school - literally walked school-to-school to pick them up and make sure they had a good day
✰ didn’t have a good day? here, have a lollipop
✰ mitsuya learned a lot about how to keep the toman members in check when she wasn’t around - he’d struggle had it not been for her wise advice
✰ you definitely get calls at 3am from smiley and baji - screaming that the cops were tailing them because they ‘accidentally’ set fire to a car
✰ all three of you know it wasn’t an accident
✰ you have to bail them out of the situation by doing something worse than arson... double arson :)
✰ you adore, and i mean a d o r e, takemichi and chifuyu - they’re two of the youngest members in toman, and that made you absolutely soft for them
✰ they got away with everything, no questions asked
✰ everyone else lowkey manipulates them into doing bad things for them - but you always figure it out and tell the real perpetrators off sternly
✰ by “perpetrators” you actually mean just mikey and baji (sneaky bastards)
✰ hakkai and angry are your babies too, you coddle them a lot (cue jealous mitsuya and smiley)
✰ draken and mitsuya are the “older kids” you leave in charge regularly - even though you’re not even toman’s leader you still exert control it’s so funny lolol
✰ you are their emergency contact - even at school
✰ “is this miss. (last name)?” “yes, how can i help you?” “ah, manjiro fell over and hit his head today - could you come and pick him up?” “... yeah, i’ll be there in ten minutes”
✰ mikey definitely used the fact you were his emergency contact to his advantage
✰ yeah, you hate kisaki - get that pig faced ugly mf out of your face; the founding members are in shock at your verbal distaste of the boy, because you’re usually the type to give people a chance
✰ lowkey has something to do with the way he glared at you as he made his presence known
✰ you might just be on his kill list though (oops)
✰ the moment baji decided to nope the fuck outta toman, you literally collared him and hit him - yeah, if you existed in the tr universe you were not gonna let him leave unless he spoke to you
✰ tells you he thinks kisaki is the leader of valhalla - and that kazutora is there too
✰ you’re on board, but you make him agree not to do stupid shit
✰ you can’t save kazutora from juvie, but you tell him you love him and will visit soon - he cries
✰ spoiler alert - HE DOES DUMB SHIT
✰ they’ve probably never seen you so panicked in your life - you literally tear your shirt up and press them to his wounds to stop the bleeding
✰ big sis saves the day bc he lives <33 (we all wish)
✰ your plan didn’t work out because he has no evidence against kisaki - but he asks mikey to give first division over to chifuyu, who then hands it off to takemichi
✰ overall, you are probably toman’s biggest strength and biggest weakness
✰ with you; they’re stronger and more united because they all want to repay you by protecting you (even tho you’re kickass and can defend yourself)
✰ without you; they’re a lot weaker, especially if you’re being used against them
✰ oh also, protective lil’ brothers alert - they have literally beaten up your exes for not being good enough for you-
✰ which, tbf, was true - but you laugh your ass off everytime
✰ now you’re dating ran haitani but they aren’t allowed to know that
✰ when you all adopt inui and koko into your little family, you can bet that they’re suddenly coddled - and they aren’t used to it
✰ you lend koko money constantly and he’s like?? why?? and you just say because you love him and you know he loves money
✰ you go shoe shopping with inui for new heels (he gets all blushy when you hype him up, and beat mfs up if they start insulting him)
✰ THEY ARE YOUR TRAUMATISED SONS
✰ also, yes, you kicked the living shit out of taiju - hakkai was lowkey scared of you for a week, you didn’t even break a sweat-
✰ hinata, emma and yuzuha are also attached to you; you’re their big sister too, and they try and get you involved in more “girly” things (you’re really not interested, but you humour them)

HARD COVER BREAKS
mitsuya takashi !
Tumblr media
SUMMARY; You took a hit that was meant for another and this was the first time everyone saw Mitsuya break.
FORMAT; Fic
READER; Female
RELATIONSHIP; Romantic
WARNING; Fic and notes below will contain manga spoilers, canon divergence
NOTES; Yes I’m not over Emma’s death. Yes this is a coping mechanism. And I just really want to write about Mitsuya losing his cool for a moment 🤷‍♀️
WORD COUNT; 1103
Tumblr media
It happened in an instant and, like always, Takemichi blamed himself first for being late, every time.
He was crying, Emma was crying, even Mikey had tears well up in his eyes as he carries your form on his back, legs barely supporting himself while taking heavy steps.
Your skull was fractured, blood travels down your once healthy skin that was now slowly losing its color as each second passed.
Takemichi saw it in a split second, how you rushed towards the other female, yelling her name with so much fear laced in your voice before tackling and pushing her in your embrace, allowing the carried bat that was coming at lighting speed to hit you instead of her. He saw it all, he watched it happen in front of him, unable to do anything.
I’m worthless. Takemichi couldn’t help but scold himself internally, as much as he was concerned about you at the moment, he couldn’t stop those two words running around his mind while Mikey tried his best to help you stay awake. I’m worthless. I’m worthless. I’m worthless.
Emma was in an even worse state, having had to take a moment to process what exactly happened with wide, horrified eyes before bursting into tears, shaking your limp body above hers frantically.
“Hey...Y/N, you know how—” Mikey forced down a choke. “—how scary Mitsuya can get when he’s angry. I don’t- d-don’t want to see him get— mad.”
It was heartbreaking, listening to Mikey’s strangled voice, trembling lips, tight grip at your legs that wrapped limply around his torso, as if doing that would stop you from slipping away forever— if you ever decided to do so.
“Ken-chin too, he won’t accept this...” He swallowed, along with the tears that were about to spill. “I won’t accept this.”
Mikey pleaded, voice small and weak.
Tumblr media
“What happened?”
Takemichi tensed up at the question. No one dared to look at the lost boy, he was forced to meet the terrified eyes of your lover when his name was called out.
“Takemitchy, what happened?” Mitsuya added more weight to his words this time, fists clenching and nails dug into sweaty skin.
The boy barely choked out an apology, rambling on and on about what he couldn’t do, how useless he was for not being able to protect you, how fast things escalated, how it happened right in front of him and yet—
“I’m not asking about you, I’m asking about Y/N and what exactly happened that lead to her in that room.”
He flinched at the harshness of his voice, how cold it sounded and how close he was to losing all sense of rationality. No one has heard Mitsuya like this.
“A bike came,” Takemichi let out a shaky breath. “It was Kisaki and another person driving, he was holding a bat.”
“He was supposed to hit me.”
Emma’s voice came in, causing Mitsuya to turn to her. “How do you know that?”
The poor girl who just managed to stop the tears a few moments ago could feel them well up again, acid rising up in her throat.
“The bat was aimed at me. Y/N wasn’t even near me at that time but then—” She let out a whimper, shrinking into her seat as she pursed her lips in a poor attempt to push down the sobs. “I’m sorry.” She croaked out.
Draken, who listened in to all these silently had to lean against the hospital walls, he feared his knees would betray him.
Mikey’s eyes were empty, colors flat as he held his head in hands, unable to move a muscle. He didn’t have the same hard front he put up with during the time when another dear friend of his was in the hospital. It was becoming too much and he was tired. The only one left standing upright was Mitsuya.
“It’s okay.” And everyone looked at him as if he lost his mind. “Y/N will be alright.”
As much as everyone hoped to believe in those words, there’s this heavy fear gnawing at them at the side, prodding and never giving them space to breath. Those were the only words spoken before silence fell upon them, waiting in agony.
Tumblr media
Mitsuya could feel his pulse race rapidly in his veins, heart thumping loud and hard, almost leaping out its cage every time it beats as the clock ticked away.
He has never felt this way before. This— this ugly feeling of fear and uncertainty. Even during dangerous, important fights with gangs, he always had things under control and made sure his vision was clear, unbothered, unfazed, but all he could see now was red, it was frightening, and then some black spots, he could pass out right now.
Why did this happen?
It only took a confirmation from the doctor for everyone standing in the hospital hallway to breath out a big sigh of relief, body no longer tense as they let loose, collapsing on chairs or leaning against walls. You were alright, you were saved, you’ll live.
Mitsuya didn’t forget to thank the people who operated the surgery, doing it from the bottom of his heart and giving a deep bow.
Mitsuya-kun’s amazing. Takemichi thought to himself, he truly was. Not a single sign of weakness or a drop of tear spilled, what an admirable person.
“Let’s go, Mitsuya. We can’t visit her until tomorrow and I bet the first thing she’d do is scold you if you don’t take care of yourself.” Draken wrapped an arm around his friend’s shoulders, pulling him in a tight side hug and giving him a pat, he himself barely stopped his own shaking.
“Yeah.” Mitsuya’s voice was small and distant, like a whisper, then all five of them started taking steps out of the building, Mikey supporting his emotional sister.
Draken released his hold, and Mitsuya barely took a step before he crumbled, making him drop to the ground with a loud thud and gave everyone a shock.
“Mitsuya...!” Draken rushed to his side and attempted to help him up, only to falter as he saw the droplets of tears rolling down his friend’s cheeks, a hand covering himself as he sobbed.
“Thank God...” Mitsuya cried out.
It was only now that they realized how selfish they were being, hanging on ugly and pathetic faces, forcing Mitsuya to be the mature, calm and cool-headed one—like how he always is—in such a situation just so they could weep themselves, not even realizing how anxious and worried he was during those long hours.
Like fragile glass, Mitsuya’s composure shattered.

tags, medic reader!!! reader has established place in toman. violence, mikey is out of character but that’s the point. all of the vice captains and captains are there (except for takemichi and 5th div of course) takes place in bonten timeline. but like reeeeaally early on. like a few months after take goes back to the future.
SPOILERS FOR CH 188!!!
draken says that mikey made them all resent and hate them. he pushed all of them away to protect them in the future. well what exactly happened ? how did he make them hate and resent their former leader?
blood.
blood.
so much blood.
“you all are so weak.”
she heaved in and out. her mind scrambling to comprehend her surrounding. bike riding from her stomach as she shook her head.
“mikey! what the hell are you doing?”
she heard draken yell. peh is lying in ground. she thinks he’s unconscious. she drops to her knees next to him and mind numbingly get her hands to work. like she’d always done.
like she’s always done.
“mikey, you’re lucky you never get hurt when i have to patch everyone else up!”
“i’m just that strong!”
she’s choking back tears at what’s happening.
actually…
what is happening?
she had known mikey had been getting a little distant for the past few weeks. she herself reached out to him more than once to invite him to hang out with the guys.
(she couldn’t say gang anymore.)
draken was also confused as mikey did not force him to stay at his side every second anymore. not buy him dorayaki everyday.
when draken told them this, they had just guessed it was mikey trying to adjust after toman was disbanded. after all, their former leader didn’t have anything but the gang for a while.
(not after emma, baji, and shinichiro……)
so they let him have his space. takemichi also pulled back from the guys a bit. the boy seeming confused when draken said that toman disbanded.
(which was weird because he there. standing next to mikey when it was disbanded. but whatever. this was takemichi we’re talking about.)
(and draken having a certain look when he said it didn’t help either.)
but he had recover in an instant with a smile and an hesitant, “ah yeah sorry… i forgot.” he mostly stuck next to his middle school friends and hina. when questioned, he said he didn’t know what was up with mikey either.
so when it was approaching summer, the anniversary of their time capsule was almost here. and mikey called all of the former captains and vice captains except takemichi to their old meeting place for toman.
it was dark, almost dusk she guessed. everyone came quickly, riding on their non gang bikes. herself being picked up by draken as she did not have one.
“do you know what’s up with mikey?”
she yelled over the roar of the engine. her skirt being slightly picked up by the wind but she was wearing shorts so it was fine. draken shook his head as he revved up his bike.
“i have no idea. this is the first time he’s called in weeks.”
she grimaced and leaned back in the bike. holding tightly onto the handle behind her.
what was up with mikey?
well she found out when they arrived at the site. greeted with smiling faces and lazy waves. she cocked her head at the sight though as she walked up to the group.
“where is he?”
she asked. to the response of shrugs before the boy walked out from the shadows. he stood above them on the steps. they all greeted him happily.
he had looked worse, she had to admit. he was skinnier, even though he’s always been on the lean side. his eyes had light bags but he smiled at them.
tiredly.
like he had a duty in put on his shoulders.
he was wearing all black and she was reminded at how little he wore other clothes other than his toman trench coat. now emma wasn’t here to help him shop.
the girl smiled, determined. mikey was still that little boy she had met all those years ago. a boy, that emma said, still needed a ratty old blanket to sleep.
she would definitely force mikey to hang out with all of them. maybe eat a little more.
(he looked really tired. she could guess from a week or two of not sleeping with sporadic naps inbetween)
“hey, mikey where’s takemitchy?”
chifuyu asked the blonde boy. to which they all saw his smile dropped. he all turned to them with a certain dead eye look that none of them had seen before.
(not seen until baji….. and not seen again until emma….)
draken walked forward quickly, making sure to keep his space. in case mikey was serious in that look of this.
“where have you been man? we’ve all been worried.”
as the words left draken, all of them nodded. but mikey stared with him with dead eyes as he shoved his hands in his pockets. he waited a moment as the light blew his long hair.
“why didn’t you save emma?”
a tight atmosphere now suffocated everyone. the cicadas buzzing loudly, the sun slowly going down. they were all only illuminated by the nearby light pole.
draken’s hands started to shake. but he refused to let tears come to his eyes. he smiled wryly at the boy.
“i ask myself that everyday, mikey.”
everyone held their breaths as draken paused.
“but it wasn’t anyone’s fault but that damn bastard kisaki. you know this.”
“but you said you’d protect my sister. you said you loved her.” the boy muttered under his breath. but the silence made his words clear as day. draken’s hands started shaking wildly at his sides. she had timidly stepped forward and put a hand to his back.
which looked a bit funny, considering she was shorter than mikey.
peh stepped forward, seeming to have something knocking around in that head of his. peh pointed a finger at mikey, his face annoyed.
“hey mikey! we know she was your sister but goin blaming all of it on draken ain’t right-“
“then why did you betray toman.”
mikey shot back at he stared at his sandals. the sandals looked cheap but new. she wondered why he even bothered getting them.
she wondered why he was digging back up all of these old demons.
“oi mikey! peh apologized and repented for that! i’ll kill ya, if ya keep bringing back all of this shit from the past.” smiley cracked his fingers and stepped forward. angry stepped forward also, both of them coming into line with draken.
“i have to agree with my brother. mikey, what’s wrong?” angry grunted out.
“oh nothing, just thinking that if you all were stronger, that my sister or izana wouldn’t have died.”
“stop that mikey! you’re not getting anywhere if you keep blaming all of this on us!”
chifuyu yelled as he stepped forward also. mikey brought his head up and stared at the the former 1st division vice captain. chifuyu stiffened under his gate gaze but stood up to him nonetheless.
“then why didn’t you save baji.”
chifuyu then stiffened. his eyes widening. tears immediately filling them. all of them stood in even more shock as mikey went on.
“you could’ve brought him back. you were the 1st division’s vice captain weren’t you?”
chifuyu’s fists clenched as he stared down at the concrete. his lip trembling, unable to look at the dark eyes boring into him from above.
“you’re wrong. i did everything i could’ve-“
“no you didn’t.“
chifuyu shook his head wildly and pulled on his hair. the girl quickly ran over to the former vice captain, her arms wrapping around the boy. his voice was watery and muffled as he yelled into the warm suffocating air.
tears soaking into her dress and snot dripping down his face. she felt her own tears spring from the name of her old friend.
but…
but it wasn’t his fault.
“yes i did mikey-“
“if you did, then baji would still be alive.”
“enough! mikey! why are you doing this?!” hakkai yelled from the back. mitsuya nodding behind him. they could all only hear the strangled cries of the boy as he fell to the ground. the girl being brought down with him.
“and why did you lie about protecting yuzuha and ruining our peace with the black dragons.”
hakkai took a step back before storming up to the line of his friends. the line of people who were already verbally abused. mitsuya had to hold him back from storming up the stairs and punching the guy in the mouth.
“i did it to protect her! you know this! i already explained myself!”
“you still did it. i had to come save you all. takemitchy was already half dead and your sister was beaten.”
hakkai gulped before looking down at his feet. not knowing how to respond. mitsuya held a warm hand on his friend’s back.
“i broke the truce. i fought taiju. stop blaming hakkai for all of that.”
“taka-chan….”
mitsuya flashed a smile at the younger boy before bringing his eyes back up to the boy who stared down at all of them.
“why mikey?”
“don’t ask that when you didn’t even fight at the tenjiuku battle. you and smiley could’ve helped. then izana wouldn’t have.“
“we were incapacitated! don’t you remember?!”
“or maybe you could’ve helped baji when he was lying dead in the ground and i was pinned by kazutora huh?”
mitsuya’s lips zipped as he averted his eyes.
all of them.
silent.
“stop blaming their deaths on all of them mikey!“
the girl yelled out. she looked around at all of the shocked, angry, tearful faces of the group. the guilt filling them all. her fists shook.
some of them couldn’t even hear her, too stuck in their own grief to hear her. some of them stared incredulously at her. she looked up at her former captain.
she left chifuyu’s arms and slowly approached the stairs.
“cmon mikey! none of it was anyone’s fault here!”
one step. he was silent. eyes staring at the night sky. she felt her knees shake.
“emma’s death… was because kisaki hit her over the head with hanma.”
second step. she felt her knees growing weak already.
“baji’s death was because he didn’t want kazutora to be the killer. takemitchy showed all of us that right?“
third step. mikey didn’t say a word. her resolve was running thin but she needed to make him see.
as she kept climbing the steps she countered each reason he had to blame all of them. hakkai and yuzuha were being abused, it’s the only way he knew to protect her. peh only wanted to protect pah. angry and smiley could only do so much for toman at the tenjiuku fight.
she reached the last step.
she smiled.
“and it wasn’t your fault either mikey. just talk to us. what’s wrong?”
her knees shaking, tears threatening to fall but she kept her composure. she held her arms out, if she could hug the boy.
he just needed someone to tell him it wasn’t his fault. it wasn’t anyone’s fault except for kisaki that those people were dead.
he had no one.
but that was alright.
because he had them.
“yeah it wasn’t my fault.”
she sighed, relieved.
“exactly-“
“it was yours.”
her eyes snapped up at him.
“huh?”
his dark black eyes bored into hers. her arms were stuck out, like a scarecrow. she couldn’t move. trapped.
he stared down at her, bringing his face closer to hers.
“you could’ve fixed baji up. you’re our medic.”
“wh-what?“
“you could’ve helped emma when she was hit over the head, why didn’t you? you’re our medic.”
“that wasn’t…”
“you could’ve helped izana but you didn’t.”
“but it…”
“it wasn’t your fault?”
she brought her head down.
no it wasn’t. it wasn’t her fault. baji’s injuries were too dire. it was a matter of emma’s brain being wracked with the extreme force, how was she supposed to help? izana had three bullet holes in vital organs. she can’t just…..
“i hate everyone here for what happened….” he whispered in her ear. the voice she loved, looked up to, respected.
“but you’re the one i blame the most.” the voice dripping in hate and disgust.
she bit her lip. feeling bile rise in her stomach.
it was all her fault it was all her fault it was all her fault it was all her fault
he whispered all of the reasons why it was her fault. like it was a secret. that it was too disgusting to let the rest of them know.
he was sneaking around her neck. his words dealing a blow to her vitals. she couldn’t breathe. she couldn’t think.
it’s all your fault.
no it’s not!
it’s all my fault.
everyone died and it’s all her fault.
even when she was about to fall, mikey held her shoulders and kept her upright. tears streamed down her face as the snot dripped down her chin.
he smiled at her. leaned back so he could look her in the face.
“you killed all of them.”
all of the memories mixed around in her head of baji and emma. izana’s smile as she deperately tried wrapping his wounds. because no one- even him- deserves to die.
“mikey! none of this was her fault either! get the fuck down here if you’re just gonna keep torturing her!”
draken quickly walked up the stairs and dragged the girl back down. handing her off to mitsuya, who tried to placate her.
her eyes were blurry. seeing nothing but all of her mistakes. whispers of her fault left her lips as mitsuya tried to comfort her. hakkai standing robotically off to the side but running his fingers through her hair.
something he did with yuzuha sometimes.
smiley smiled widely before joining next to draken. his brother hurrying over to the sobbing girl. the blue haired boy hugged her from behind as she conceded her face with her hands.
“yeah, why are ya goin blaming everything on us anyway? it’s not fuckin cool!”
draken grimaced, readying his fists. mikey came at draken first, his kick hitting his face. smiley skidded to the side as he tried pummel his former captain.
everyone tried to go after him. all of them failing. peh was incapacitated. chifuyu breathed heavily from his tears and the bruises marring his face.
it was mitsuya and hakkai’s death wish next as they went toe to toe with their former leader. she crawled over the peh, ripping her dress to try and wipe some of the blood off. her hands about make contact with his face.
though she stopped halfway.
chifuyu limped over and put a hand on her shoulder. he had dry sticky tears stuck on his face and everything hurt but he knew….
this was more than she could handle.
“what’s wrong, are you okay?”
she brought her head down as she started trembling. staring at peh’s face. his grip on her shoulder tightened. she wasn’t here right now.
“i-i-i-“
she heaved out deep breaths. tears falling down her face again. it was like she wasn’t seeing peh there. like she was seeing someone else.
“i cant save anyone. what’s the point?”
“it’s the same either way.”
chifuyu’s grip on her became deathly as he tried to control his anger. he turned back around to try and have another go at mikey after that. her tearful face filling his mind as he got kicked in the head.
(mikey had to remember. that she could set all of their broken bones no problem. that she fixed takemichty’s broken nose. that she bandaged all of their wounds all the time.)
she did everything she could. all the time.
once everyone was heaving on the ground, tired and beaten black and blue. smiley laughed wryly. hakkai groaned and mitsuya muttering curses.
she was still shaking, holding cloth from her dress. she looked around at all of her friends. everything felt like it wasn’t real.
this wasn’t real.
mikey above all of them with a crazed smile. like he was waiting for this.
she didn’t know what she was doing.
“why …. why are you doing this?”
mikey hummed in her direction. her eyes turned around as she shakily stood up.
“why is this happening ….”
in and out. in and out. why was he doing this? doing this to them? her brain wracked for why.
he didn’t have a scratch on him. draken was staring up at him but letting his gaze go to her. he seemed to be telling her to stop. don’t come closer.
she started running towards the boy and grabbed his shoulders. shaking them wildly.
“why why why why why?!”
she asked the question over and over again. why? why them? weren’t they his friends? why would he do this?
why mikey?
she couldn’t gone on forever in asking the question but something stopped her.
something sweeping under her feet, and her falling into the concrete. she vaguely heard draken yell out her name. she then felt something hard collide with her face.
when she opened her eyes, she saw mikey staring up at her with a bloody fist. a sickening crack was heard as he brought his fist to punch her face again.
“MIKEY WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!”
draken yelled out as he tried to move over to her. everyone was too hurt to move, all of them having something either broken or sprained. forced to listen to the cries of a girl that was once tokyo manji’s medic.
she felt a kick come to her stomach that made her roll onto her side. she let out a scream. feeling multiple kicks come to the same spot as she cried for him to stop.
all of them were stunned by the screams. never hearing her be in danger. never hearing her cry out from pain.
because that wasn’t her job.
they were supposed to yell out from pain when they got hurt.
she…
she wasn’t supposed to get hurt at all.
and now she was being hurt by the boy they all looked up to.
draken crawled over to the girl, he moved her hair to see the damage to her face. blood was dripping out of her nose. a black eye was blooming. tears streaming down as whimpers escaped her busted lip.
her hand on her stomach as she didn’t hide her cries of pain. it made draken’s heart practically crumble.
he didn’t know what was worse.
her injuries?
or the fact that it happened to her at all.
he looked back over at mikey. the boy starting to laugh loudly. like the funniest joke was just told. like this was funny. like hurting her was funny.
“like i’d ever hit a girl.”
mikey left soon after, a sound of an engine roaring away.
it was dark and the air was full of betrayal.
the air was full of a helpless girl whimpering in tears and pain.
a girl who never learned how to fight or defend herself.
a girl who claimed she didn’t need it because her friends and gang were strong enough to protect her.
boys groaning at their new bruises. boys crying at betrayal and guilt.
“i can’t believe he hit her.” mitsuya seethed under his breath. trying to crawl over to the girl lying in the fetal position. chifuyu let out a watery laugh as he pointedly avoided looking at the girl. lest he wanted to cry more.
“there’s a lot of thing i cant believe right now honestly.”
hakkai dragged over peh, the boy starting to regain consciousness. they all crowded around the girl lying in draken’s lap. her murmurs of everything being her fault. her haunted eyes.
it was no use.
mikey had sealed her damage and put a little bow on top.
as draken looked into her eyes and her frail form, he’s suddenly reminded of emma’s last words.
“please take care of mikey.”
he doesn’t know if he can.

Rindou watches over an unconscious Ran after he gets knocked out by Hakkai, Takemichi tries to take responsibility for his team’s actions
warnings: major injury, hospitalisation, canon compliant
rated: pg
The sound of the heart monitor beeped incentively. Rindou’s bones hurt somewhat. The fight had been bloody and cruel, and if it hadn’t been for Ran’s fractured skull, Rindou wouldn’t had left the battlefield without smashing that Hakkai’s face in.
He found it somewhat hard to do much, to be responsive in any sense, not with his brother wrapped up like some cartoonish caricature of a patient.
“What is he like?”
Takemichi asks, leaning against the wall, in the far corner of the room.
The battle hadn’t ended, no, it had been more of a temporary ceasefire after someone had called the cops.
Toman second gen, or whatever they called themselves, had helped haul his brother away, some Mitsuya guy’s words having touched that tall douchebag into helping them as if he hadn’t maimed Ran in the first place.
“What do you think?” Rindou spits, he’s undoing those braids then, because he can’t imagine them being comfortable to sleep in.
“He took a hit for you…” Takemichi trails off, fiddling with the end of his shirt. “I guess he must be a good brother.”
“Huh…” Rindou huffs, he hovers above the bed for a bit, frown deeply etched into his face. He pushes one of Ran’s eyelids open with his thumb, watches the unmoving pupil, frowns. “I hate him, sometimes. He thinks he’s great, pulling that stuff.”
“Rindou—“ Takemichi intervenes, frowns, because the glare he receives is crippling. “Toman is willing to guard this room.”
Rindou laughs, itchy fingers thirsty for blood. “I don’t need anyone to protect him for me.” He plops down on his chair again, deflates, undoes his own bun. “It’s my turn.”
“How did you end up—“
“In jail?” Rindou offers, brow cocked. He wishes for his glasses, it would make judging Takemichi’s silly expression easier. “Controlling the entirety of Roppongi all by ourselves?”
“No.” Takemichi shrugs. “I mean… why did you join a gang?”
“Join?” He rolled his eyes, leaning his chin into his hand. “Need. Me and Ran had been alone for a while. He’s kind of stubborn, but he’s good at providing. Izana asked me once whether I hate being in his shadow— but it never felt like that.”
Rindou is blabbering, he knows. He isn’t sure where this need to let it all out stems from. “When we were in prison, to me, it was a walk in the park. He took— takes, the role of the big brother very seriously.”
“Took my beatings, did my dirty jobs, payed for my protection. I never knew anything about it, either, not until we got out and Izana snitched. Lots of good that did.”
“He will recover.” Takemichi sparks with hope.
Rindou snorts.
“Your gorilla cracked his head open.” He glances at the rise and fall of his brother’s chest. “I don’t hate your Toman.” He supplies. “But if I see that bastard, I’ll kill him.”
“Hakkai isn’t a bad guy.” Takemichi begs, but Rindou seems fed up.
“It’s going to be a miracle if he wakes up and still has control of his body.” He tenses and flexes his fingers. “Your friend was wrong for getting the level headed one.”
“Rindou…”
Rindou grits his teeth. “Get out.”
Takemichi falters, fists his hands by his sides, steels his resolve. He nods. “I will be back.”
“Don’t bother.” Rindou leans back into his chair, goes back to mentally babysitting his bedridden brother, waits for the door to click shut. Waits a few more minutes, for good measure.
“Hey, Ran,” he whispers. “Does it hurt? Are you in pain right now?”
He doesn’t expect an answer, but he can’t shoulder the silence all by himself, either. “Wake up fast, so we can eat fried rice.”

Tumblr media
“it’s late.”
you know. but you still wanted to hear the sound of his voice before bed.
“mm… i missed ya’, is that a crime?” your voice echos through the receiver, the sound of your duvet crinkling in the background as you shift in place. sano manjiro was a busy man. always has been, always will be. being the leader of a biker gang was never easy—let alone some “new age” criminal organization.
you didn’t understand why manjiro persisted to play this game of russian roulette with his life. but it was never your place to overstep, especially since this was his life. it was all he knew, all he understood. you’re not sure what he’s doing, or if he’s even allowed to talk on the phone at this hour, but you still wanted to hear him. just so you know he’s alive and well.
you hear him chuckle, the sound of his feet scurrying against whatever floor his sandals were clacking against. the background noise that accompanied him earlier has dissipated; you realized he probably went outside to hear you better.
“your crime is loving a fool like me way too much. don’t think you’re sane.” he’s right. you’re actually crazy for even pursuing him. there was a lot of push and shove in the beginning, both parties scared of being hurt and getting hurt. but you were always there, even when manjiro went through whatever darkness was eating at his soul.
“crazy for you.”
“corny.”
“you love me.”
a pause. eerie enough to send shivers down your spine. why wasn’t he responding? did something happen? did you smother him too much? is he regretting—
“marry me.”
… not what you were expecting. especially not over the phone.
“sano manjiro, did you just propose over the phone? what kind of shitty rom-com are we in?”
“is that a no?”
“... never said that.” you wanted to marry him. but you wanted him to put that lifestyle behind, for the sake of the family you might have in the future. kids, dogs, cats, etcetera. you wanted him to be in, one hundred percent. but you knew he was too deep into this world to run now—especially since he’s so well-known as the ‘invincible mikey.’ you still longed for a happy home with manjiro, and a normal life.
“maybe you’re right. it’s not my style to ask you this over the phone.”
“try again later. when you’re really ready.”
the gag is, he is ready.
Tumblr media
manjiro hurries home, blond locks hidden underneath a thin, black hoodie. he’s shaking, like a pomeranian in the presence of fireworks. his hand meets the left side of his chest, back pressed up against the grey colored wall of your shared apartment as he slides down to sit on the floor. it was four in the morning, and manjiro was about to shit himself.
he gulps, eyes peering around for you, double checking that you were fast asleep before he makes a phone call. his fingers tapped the back of his iphone, impatiently waiting for the other caller to answer. though it was the crack of dawn, he still needed some moral support.
“mikey? fuck you callin’ for at this hour? haven’t heard from you in mo—”
“ken-chin. i’m proposing.”
a loud ‘flop’ rang through the receiver, accompanied by the bedsheets seemingly slipping underneath draken’s feet. it was a huge bomb to drop, especially when the duo has been separated for months on end. manjiro hears more shuffling, followed by a few curses. “you’re fucking lying. the one you’ve been one since—?”
“yeah. i’m crazy as hell. but i love them. head over heels. i’m a goddamn simp.”
“why the hell am i the first to know, man?”
“you’re m’best friend, even if i need to stay away from you. and, also… you’re not the first to know. i asked them already.”
“you WHAT? don’t fuckin’ tell me you did it some dumb way like over the pho— you did. you’re impulsive enough to do it like that, too.” regardless of how long it’s been, draken still knows and understands manjiro like nothing ever happened.
“yeah… not romantic. but i can’t see myself with anyone else. i trust no one else. but i… am…”
“scared? man, you’re the head of a criminal organization. ‘course you’re scared. you don’t want the love of your life… to get hurt…” his voice trails off and manjiro’s heart tenses even more. the memories of the past still felt fresh. all the people they lost in tokyo manji… could never be replaced. not in a million years.
but the living must live.
“i love y/n. never felt like this before. i’d quit everything. but i would have to make sure they’re safe and whatever future we have together is secure. i know i promised takemichi that i’d protect everyone and that future he worked so hard to save… but what about mine?”
manjiro really did sacrifice everything for his friends. being the type of person who carries everyone else’s burdens takes a toll on his mental. he felt selfish for wanting to leave it all behind. but maybe being selfish was beneficial once in a while.
“listen—”
“do you think i’m stupid?”
“mikey. you’re not stupid,” draken sighs, shuffling again in place. “you just want to love someone and be loved in return. nothin’ stupid about that. what is stupid though, is you proposing over the damn phone.”
he’s not wrong. it was a spur of the moment decision that could drastically change his life forever. but with you, he doesn’t care. as long as you’re his, forever.
“how do you think i should do it?”
“well. i guess, tell me some sappy shit. how do you feel about them, and whatnot.”
“i don’t think i could ever imagine me with anyone else. a lot of people have tried to grab my attention but i only have eyes for y/n. sometimes when shit gets real hard…” manjiro takes a deep sigh, fingers threading through his hair, tilting back the hood to let it fall onto his back. “i think of y/n and i remember that even in this shit world, someone is here for me. someone cares about me. they make me feel like i’m not alone anymore.
i have dreams ‘bout us, y’know? me and y/n… kids running around. a little mikey clone. pissin’ them off because we want little flags on our meals. going to the park and letting kids be kids. maybe i’ll teach ‘em at a dojo like gramps did for me and my siblings. maybe i’ll teach ‘em about bikes—with your help, of course.”
draken laughs, letting his friend continue his little speech as he gets comfortable in bed again. don’t think i’ve ever seen mikey like this, ever, draken muses.
“man, we can own a whole zoo if we wanted. chifuyu could hook us up, in secret, of course. still have to protect everyone,” manjiro is grinning from ear to ear, head resting against the wall. “i wanna grow old with them. honestly, i didn’t think i’d make it to my twenties. more so, i didn’t want to live past twenty-something. but now… things are different. wanna be old and gray. see grandkids terrorize our children. die together.”
the tension in manjiro’s chest has faded away, only left with warmth that only you could bring him. his free hand reaches into his pocket to fumble with a small box, snapping it open to reveal the engagement ring his grandfather handed down to him.
he wasn’t the marrying type. but for you, he was.
“that all? you sound good like that, man. make an exception and let us come to the wedding.”
manjiro wants that more than anything. his friends, you... all safe. all happy. but again, the fear creeps up. he doesn’t know what to do with himself if any of you get hurt.
“... how do i tell y/n that?”
“you already have.” your voice makes him jump, knocking the velvet box out of his fingers and onto the hardwood floor. his face pales, followed by a huge lump forming at his throat when he sees your figure emerge from your shared bedroom.
“i-uh… i thought you were a-asleep.” manjiro mumbles, earning a huge laugh from draken on the other side. he hears him say something along the lines of ‘my cue to leave. good luck. send me an invite.’
“i was waiting for you.”
he’s sweating now, a small bead forming at the base of his neck. his phone is now at his side, the screen flashing from draken’s caller id to the lockscreen photo of you on your first date together, a few years back. your eyes zone into the box, though.
“i was going to do this… better. god, i fucked up, huh?”
you’re laughing now, rubbing your tired eyes before you join him near the wall, picking up the box. “what makes you think that, dummy?”
now he’s confused. you wanted him to ask when he was serious, but in his head, serious meant rose petals, candles, someone singing celine dion in the distance.
without a word, you slip the ring onto its appropriate finger, holding up to the small rays of sunlight that peaked through the window from the approaching sunrise. manjiro’s hands fly up to your face, holding his whole world in his hands. his eyes are shiny, on the brink of tears. you nudge your noses together, foreheads connecting tenderly. your hands hooked onto the hem of his hoodie, bringing his frame closer as you whisper a soft ‘yes.’
“yes?”
“yes, i’ll marry you.”
manjiro’s lips curl up into the silliest grin you’ve ever seen him sport, before he presses a soft kiss to your lips. now he’s kissing you quite desperately. as if he’s trying to make sure you’re real, that this isn’t a dream. you feel his words vibrate against your lips, “gonna make you so happy, i promise. i love you. i love you so, so much.”
“forevermore.”
“forever yours.”

Adventures in the Kawata twins
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: This takes place during the present when they're all adults. This isn't an x reader persay but reader is mentioned.
Synopsis: Takemichi & Chifuyu are stuck taking care of the drunk Kawata twins. It can't be that hard they'd assumed. Though they fail to understand that the twins are dumped on them for good reason.
☆☆
"Takemichi, you plan on being a designated driver?" Draken asks as Takemichi plops into the seat next to him at their shared table.
"Yeah, I don't feel like drinking tonight." He explained with a shrug.
"Great!" Mikey exclaimed allowing his straw to slip back into the something red he'd been sucking down. "Then you can take care of the Kawata brothers." He pointed to the end of the bar where both brothers sat. Smiley swiveling back in forth in his chair while Angry just glared at all the people. Their eyes lazily hovering over the thick crowd of people.
"They're barely sipping their drinks." Takemichi scoffed
Draken snorted with a deep laugh, "For now." Though he stopped talking when Mikey elbowed him.
"Yeah ok I'll take them home later." Takemichi replied.
"Not just take them home." Mikey grunted, poking his finger out at Takemichi. "You gotta watch them!" He gestured first to Takemichi then back to the two boys at the bar.
"Ok ok sure."
How bad could they possibly get after all? They were never apart as far as Takemichi could see. Even now they were calmly sipping their drinks, Angry's feet swaying back and forth against the side of the bar stool, his face full of frustration as he played with the straw between his lips. Meanwhile Smiley began talking about something random that barely caught his brother's attention his warm smile stretched tightly against his face.
They were calm. This was gonna be fine....
An hour later~
"Where'd they go!!" Takemichi clung to Chifuyu's shoulders like they were his life support shaking the poor man like a doll.
"Well where's the last place you had them?!" Chifuyu screamed back, head darting up over the crowd trying to locate at least one of the missing twins.
"They're not lost remotes!!" Takemichi grunted
A sudden burst of clapping across the bar made Takemichi and Chifuyu whip around. A rhythm slowly forming as drunk onlookers turned to face the same direction. Suddenly a big blue tuff peaked its way over the crowd followed by a fist raising in the air and Angry's full face coming into view.
"Shit." Chifuyu cursed
Takemichi lead the rush through the crowd, Chifuyu right behind him as the two of them made their way closer to one of the rickety tables near the back corner of the bar where Angry was now pointing out into the crowd. A smile almost as big as his brother's plastered onto his face. But it had a much gentler feel to it, almost as if he did it everyday.
"You! You got what I need! Everybody!" Angry belted as he sung into an invisible mic. "But you say he's just a friend!! Now the ladies!"
"And you say he's just a friend!" Reciprocated the crowd.
"Oh God who's he singing about? Name?" Chifuyu scoffed as he held onto Takemichi's hoodie for fear of getting swept away in the crowd.
"Wait? Angry likes, Name?!"
"You must be the most oblivious person in the world to not have noticed. Even I noticed!" Chifuyu yelled over the crowd.
Takemichi sighed reaching out for the wobbly table working to keep it steady as Chifuyu went around the other side tugging at Angry's pant leg.
"And you say he's just a friend, oh baby, you-" Angry continued until Chifuyu finally managed to catch his attention. "Takemichi! Chifuyu! Hi!" He bounced on the table almost causing it to tip.
"Angry come on, let's go find your brother!"
"Ooo yeah!" He giggled like a child.
"Holy shit I didn't even know he was capable of laughing, let alone smiling." Chifuyu blinked shaking his head.
"Catch me ok!" Angry beamed
"Wait Angry!-"
Takemichi's legs folded beneath him as Angry laid on top of him. Surprisingly he wasn't that heavy, though his body weight came out of nowhere and all at once. It left Takemichi with zero breath in his lungs as an uncharacteristic Angry laid on top of him, Chifuyu's smug grin just above him.
"Thanks for the support!" Takemichi groaned in pain. With both hands Chifuyu pulled Takemichi up, helping him support Angry's weight as he wrapped the younger twins legs around his waist.
"Why-" Chifuyu gestured to the current display.
"It'll just be easier."
Angry clung to Takemichi's hoodie like a curious toddler, sticking his fingers beneath the back to play with the tag.
"Come on, we're gonna go find your brother." Takemichi soothingly rubbed Angry's back before turning to Chifuyu.
"And how do you plan on doing that?" Chifuyu asked
The sound of glass shattering a short distance away and the sounds of loud screams and grunts called the attention of almost everyone in the bar. Aside from those too busy making out or puking to see.
"I'd say follow the screaming."
They'd barely arrived on the scene but the crunches of glass underneath their shoes spoke volumes. Smiley's fists repeatedly slamming into a now completely shattered glass mirror. Blood seeping through his damaged knuckles like a punctured water bottle.
Chifuyu immediately slipped his arms under Smiley's armpits. Shaken a bit by the stoned face that stared down at the shattered mirror beneath them.
"Come on Angry we gotta go!"
"That's Smiley! This is Angry!" Takemichi yelped, shifting a distracted Angry around to look at Chifuyu.
"At this point can you blame me?! It's like we fell into an alternate dimension." Chifuyu groaned "Wait is that possible right now?"
"I don't think so!"
"Get off! This cunt is asking for it!" Smiley reached for the only part of the mirror still even slightly assembled. But before he could punch it in Chifuyu slipped an arm around his waist.
"Let's just get out of here before the cops show up!"
Even in disarray Takemichi was pleased at how much easier it had been getting the twins out of the bar then it had been finding them.
"You can still drive a bike right?" Takemichi asked as he reached into Angry's pocket for his keys. He placed a disoriented Angry on the back, trying to push his leg over the side.
"God, your knuckles are wrecked!" Chifuyu gasped astonished. Some of the glass had chipped off while some stayed wedged inside his closed fist.
"It's fine we can remove it when we get them home."
"Hey do you think Name likes that song?" Angry nodded his head, snapping his fingers to an imaginary beat. "I like the bartender, yeah if you're looking for me I'm at the bar with her!" He sung
"I'm sure it'd be just as uncomfortable for Name as it currently is for us." Chifuyu sighed "Come on get on back." He explained to Smiley.
"Fuck you."
Angry fidgeted around behind Takemichi only holding onto his waist when Takemichi physically slid his hands there. His smile deepening as he grinned along to the music he hadn't stopped singing.
After a bit more pleading Smiley plopped onto the back with his arms crossed over his chest. "Ok, now all we need to do is get them home right?" Chifuyu called over the roar of the engine and the sound of Angry still harmonizing with inaudible music.
"Actually.. I told Mikey I'd look after them for the night.."
"I hate you."
"Chifuyu, please! I can't do this without you! Once we put them to bed the rest should be easy right?"
They pulled up to a red light and for the first time tonight Takemichi could hear himself think. Yeah ok, the rest of the night really shouldn't be too difficult. The hard part was getting them out of the bar right?
"Fuck are you looking at shit stain?!" Smiley screamed to a man casually minding his business across the street.
"Angry!" Takemichi screeched
"See you did it too!" Chifuyu pointed
"Shit, I mean-"
"Huh?!" The man called turning to make eye contact with the four people in front of him.
"Can't this light change any fucking faster?!" Chifuyu yelled
"You wanna go bitch!" Smiley called
~~~~
"Smiley, please shut up!" Chifuyu was practically withering. Smiley nearly left off the bike when the man came charging forward.
In that split second the light turned green and Chifuyu sped off with Takemichi trailing just behind. A flood of nervous tears beginning to stain his face.
"You know Mikey set you up right?" Chifuyu grunted as he hauled an agitated Smiley into his and his brother's shared flat.
"I figured after looking up to see them both gone." Takemichi gasped and heaved, shutting the door behind him and Angry.
"I'm making ramen." Smiley announced, staggering off to the living room.
"No no no what you need to do is lay down. This night has been a nightmare." Chifuyu said
"You wanna go fucker." Smiley spat
"Smiley please-" Takemichi tried
"Takemichi, Michi! Look look at my Tiktok dance! You gotta watch!" Angry tugged on Takemichi's jacket sleeve with kid like hops trying to get his attention.
"Just.. I can't right now please we-"
"Why?!" Angry's outburst immediately brought quiet to the flat, the beginnings of tears brimming in the corners of his eyes.
"Shit, don't let him cry!" Chifuyu exclaimed
"Ok! Ok do the dance!"
Angry straightened, smile reappearing fully. He patted the tops of his chest, shaking his hips to nonexistent music. "You need a woman's touch in your place, just protect her and keep her safe." His arm juts out to the words he's singing, "Baby, worship my hips in ways, so feminine with grace."
Takemichi and Chifuyu blink, mouths hung in a small 'O' as they watched the awkward drunk assembly of movements matching terribly with the surprisingly on key singing. Without warning Angry clutched his knees, bile spilling from his body like a sprinkler system.
"You're in charge of Angry then." Chifuyu patted Takemichi's back as Angry continued to unleash on the once clean living room floor. Coughs escaping his drunken body. "I'll take care of.. ah shit! Where'd he go now?!"
"Maybe that's enough dancing for one night." Tiptoeing around the undigested waste Takemichi reached for Angry's arm. "Want some water?" He asked pulling a staggering Angry into the kitchen.
"There's-" Takemichi managed to get him there just in time. Angry's fingers clutching the edges of the kitchen sink as he leaned forward emptying everything in his stomach down the drain with a loud heave.
"Take your time it'll be-"
"Smiley no!" Chifuyu's voice rang across the flat. As well as the sound of multiple fragile items breaking.
What would soon follow in the next minute and a half were, a hard thud, harsh obscenities spewed one after another, and more things breaking only a couple doors away from where Takemichi was massaging Angry's head.
"Chifuyu, what's going on?!"
Chifuyu clattered out of the bathroom stumbling back and forth between both feet. "He punched me in the jaw." His thumb grazed over his jaw inspecting his hands for any sign of blood. "Do the twins have duct tape in here?"
Takemichi grabbed a paper towel dampening it before patting the sides of Angry's lips and the base of his chin where a small amount of his puke was currently leaking down.
"What do you need duct tape for?"
"Don't worry about that."
Chifuyu disappeared with the tape too quickly for further questions to be asked. Angry's smile was barely visible at this point the alcohol potentially flooding out of his system.
"Will you wash my hair Michi?" Angry pleaded with a tiny whimper.
"You should probably rest." Takemichi replied, he turned to fill a glass of water in the sink before handing it to Angry.
"Can I rest in the bathtub?"
"Why're you so violent when you drink?!" Chifuyu yelled
"Here just go to the couch!" Takemichi gestured, pushing a confused Angry back into the living room before bolting down the hall.
"What the- omg!"
"Get me some rope or some shit!" Chifuyu grunted, pulling both of Smiley's hands together.
Smiley laid beneath Chifuyu on his stomach duct tape wrapped around his mouth. His legs kicking around aimlessly as muffled noises slipped from his mouth. The shower curtain covered in blood and laid in a ball on the floor and the pole now bent in the bathtub. The window in the corner smashed in from the inside, pieces of glass littering the white tile.
I'm pretty sure this isn't what Mikey meant when he said take care of the Kawata twins!"
"Well he won't stop struggling! What else am I supposed to do?" Chifuyu gripped the duct tape, pulling it around Smiley's balled fists before ripping it with his teeth.
The sound of glass shattering in the living room brought Takemichi back down to reality. "Ok fine, just don't hurt him and clean his wounds!"
Takemichi rushed back into the living room tripping over his own two feet. His thoughts immediately scattering as he looked over the new situation. Angry's once full cup of water mixed with his vomit on the floor as the glass was now shattered in the growing mess.
"I want water.." Angry said, reaching out to Takemichi.
"Lay still on the couch and I'll bring you a new cup." He sighed
Takemichi dug around for a few seconds in the cupboard grabbing a new glass from the middle shelf. He hadn't noticed before but the Kawata twins had a gorgeous flat. That was slightly more wrecked right now. But it was clean and gorgeous almost to the point where it looked brand new.
He reached for the faucet, positioning it to fill the glass with hot water before turning it upside down to empty the glass. The water splashed against his disheveled black hoodie dampening it a little more than the sweat of this night already had. When he refilled the glass it was with cold water turning the sink top off and walking back over to Angry's kid like wonder stare on the edge of the couch.
"This house has big ceilings." Angry pointed, mouth agape.
"Yup, here." Takemichi transferred the water to Angry's open hands. He got down on one knee untying Angry's shoelaces, slipping his shoes off his feet before placing them next to the head of the couch.
"Wish I lived here." Angry nodded softly, kicking his socked feet as he sipped the cool water in the glass that had been placed in his hands.
"Lay back ok."
A deep "oof" caught Takemichi's attention as he looked to a staggering Chifuyu, pulling Smiley along like a police officer arresting a perp.
"Ok, from this point on I need to be paid." He grunted
"What happened to your face?" Takemichi gestured to the gushing bruise on Chifuyu's forehead. Blood beginning to leak down the sides of his face.
"What do you think happened? He fucking headbutted me." Chifuyu rubbed the blemish with one hand.
For the first time all night Smiley finally tapped out. Collapsing onto the floor in a small ball. One shoe kicked off God knows when. Hair a disorganized tumbleweed atop his head.
"What do you think Name would think of this song?" Angry bounced in his seat spilling water into his lap.
"Oh God please no more singing!" Chifuyu huffed in exasperation.
Takemichi can already see the crease of Angry's eyebrows and the quiver of his bottom lip. "What he means is we'll hear it tomorrow because you need sleep."
A folded blanket laid on the top of the couch and Takemichi reached for it. He shook it out before placing it over Angry's descending shoulders. Slowly the comfort of falling asleep began to rise on Angry's face. Eyelids heavy and face falling into warm ease.
"You promise?" He questioned as he laid his head on the arm rest.
"Yes bright and early tomorrow."
"Night." He whispered and less than a minute later he was fast asleep just like his brother.
For the next couple minutes Takemichi worked to clean the blood off Chifuyu's face, arms and a couple other places.
"Geez he did a number on you."
"On me, on the bathroom, on that mirror in the bar." Chifuyu listed off as Takemichi walked back to the living room leaving him to pat his bruise.
"But you did do a great job bandaging his hands."
"Uh huh."
Takemichi reached up to his face squeezing the bridge of his nose and the lids of his eyes. Chifuyu came up to his side as the blonde gestured to Smiley. "You're not gonna leave him like that are you?"
"You're right we should put a blanket on him." Chifuyu nodded, shaking his finger in front of Takemichi.
"I meant untie him!" Takemichi followed as Chifuyu went into the first available bedroom.
"Fine, once we get them both pills and clean up we can leave."
"Are you insane! Did you forget my bruises? If he wakes up at anytime before the sun and attacks it's your problem." Chifuyu snagged a blanket off the top of the bed slinging it over his shoulder.
"Why didn't we just put them in their beds?" Takemichi groaned
"It's too late they're already asleep just let it go." Chifuyu huffed
Takemichi followed Chifuyu back into the living room. With both hands he opened the blanket fully before letting it lay flat over Smiley's now relaxed figure.
"One you're insane if you think I'm going home. It's almost three am and watching these two for one night has given me nice horror stories to tell Mitsuya next time he talks about his sisters. Two I was dead serious about needing payment especially now if I'm gonna be spending hours cleaning."
~~~~
Morning came sooner than Takemichi would've liked. The sun blared through the window like the worst alarm. He squinted covering his eyes with one hand before shifting on the floor with the blanket he'd pulled from Souya's closet.
Before he could reexperience restful slumber a couple faint knocks had him tossing aside the blanket entirely. Yanking the door open with a low 'what' from the depths of his fatigue.
"Morning to you too." Draken's voice brought him back.
"Heyo Takemichy." Mikey grinned proudly
"How was last night?" Draken asked as Mikey entered the flat ahead of him.
Though the question really didn't need to be verbally answered as the image of Smiley laying on the ground with duct tape over his mouth and a half kicked away blanket revealing his taped up arms. The smell of puke still slightly thick in the hot apartment and the blood all over Chifuyu's jacket spoke louder than words.
Even with sleep still in the midst of Chifuyu's eyes he turned to Mikey and Draken standing behind him.
"Never a fucking gain." He pointed aimlessly, eyelids dashing over his eyes to properly bring the beauty of sight back to him.
Smiley rolled over, or half way over immediately awakening when he realized he was tied up. His head jerked towards Chifuyu with mumbled questions.
"Hold on."
"FUCK!" Smiley's grin was back full force. The edges of his eyebrows twitching, voice echoing through the flat. The unnecessary roughness at which Chifuyu had ripped away the tape showed off some prominent reddening just below his nose.
"Ah!" Angry nearly flew off the couch with the way he sat up immediately falling back into the pillow behind him. Clutching his head with both arms. "Who's being loud." He groaned
"We figured we owed you guys breakfast for taking care of the twins last night." Draken remarked amusement creeping onto his face.
"And this is way less than I was expecting. No cops or anything." Mikey nodded
"What happened to my fists!" Smiley grinned crazily
"Everyone stop talking!" Angry grit
"Take the twins out." Chifuyu said "I'm going home to sleep."
"Ditto to that." Takemichi yawned

Tumblr media
you and shinichiro have known each other since high school and now your siblings hang out so you see him quite often. seeing him frequently your high school crush has flourished again. feeling them grow each joke he's told to you or watching him care for his siblings and yours. mickey's birthday approaching fast he sent birthday invitations out to his close friends. after getting his gift, getting your brother ready, packing his overnight bag, and yourself ready, you're at the newly opened arcade.
when opening the doors a group of small boys ran up to you and your brother in greeting. after giving them all a hug and wishing mickey a happy birthday you shoo them away to play. setting your stuff down at the table and putting your gift with all the others it's shinichiros turn to greet you.
“hey glad you could make it” he says smiling and giving you a friendly hug.
“well i definitely couldn't miss this” you say returning the hug as you both sit down at the table watching the kids scurry around.
“i just got done putting the numbers in for the laser tag. hope you plan on playing because i already added you” he says laughing, scoffing at him.
“are you sure that's a good idea i wouldn't want to embarrass mickeys brother on his birthday” you say confidently as he shakes his head.
“yeah whatever don't worry if you need a shoulder to cry on when you lose i'll happily lend mine.”
after strapping yourself and helping everyone you find your teams out. on your team you have mickey, kazutora, baji and takemichi. and on shinichiros emma, draken, mitsuya, and pah-chin.
“im going after you first bro!” mickey shouts as you all enter. as everyone shouts upon entering, getting quiet.
“y/n we are going to protect you” baji says as he walks carefully in front of you as they all start forming a circle around you nodding in agreement.
“yeah especially from that geezer shinichiro” mickey says behind you.
“i think it's time we attack them we've been too careful” you say crouching down, “i'll take the back while you guys attack so its like youre all still protecting me” they all nod at your words.
“y/n youre so smart” kazutora says smiling big laughing as they all agree.
“thanks guys i trust you” you say getting up following them, slowing down so youre not seen by anyone.
getting pulled and pushed onto a dark wall you gasp searching for who's holding you. relaxing a bit when you see shinichiro, he leans on the wall behind you and whispers in your ear.
“sorry didn't mean to scare you”
“yeah right that smile of yours says otherwise” you say hitting him lightly.
“okay maybe i was expecting to scare you” he says moving the hand that was above your mouth to your chin lifting it up grazing his lips. looking at him with curious eyes as you impatiently wait for his next move. “can i?” he asks against you, whispering a dry ‘yeah’ he kisses you. the slow soft kiss was interrupted by your vest making a noise and showing red. “might wanna catch up, your team's losing” he says smirking as he lets go disappearing in the dark maze.
stepping off the wall trying to find your team, baji being the first to notice you. as they run up to you they go back to their earlier formation questioning you.
“shinichiro was the one who pulled me and shot me. lets get him first” you say, smiling darkly, ready to get your revenge.

(And everyone is aged up and if you can, can there be a jealous Emma to I love her but I also love draken😭)
Hi, sweety, your request first in my blog and I'm so glad that this story was so unusual and interested experience ✨✨✨ I hope I have understand your idea and you will like this ♡
Warnings: clumsy english text
Tumblr media
Should not hide the fact that you have been communicating with the Draken for quite a long time. He was always an attentive companion, sweet and kind. When you needed help, he helped you. When you were sad, he supported you. At some point, you began to understand each other's feelings and emotions. He had a busy life, since adolescence he was a participant in serious conflicts, and the older, the more difficult. You didn't come here because you wanted to, either. Over time, both of you sank lower and lower, but everyone began to change random events.
"Why the fuck should I pay such money for such a stupid whore?!", - a thick-set man was shouting at the top of his voice in the hall. His face was bright red with anger, while you were standing, covered with a sheet and with your head down. All the waiting visitors looked out to find out what was going on.
"Describe briefly what did not suit you, so that we would assess the situation and return the money to you", - the man behind the counter was not affected by his screams and enraged state, he remained calm and was indifferent to the situation as a whole, which further enraged his interlocutor.
"I don't fucking have to explain how this girl provided services, come on, ask her yourself", - roughly grabbing your wrist, the fat guy pulled you on himself, - "Let's ask, well", - he looked at you with angry eyes, - "What did you do??"
"I would ask more politely…"
"SHUT YOUR MOUTH", - interrupting the man, he began to squeeze and shake your hand painfully, - "Come on, answer, slut...though...you know what, if I didn't get the service, then I don't have to pay and other people need to see the defective product from afar..."
The fat guy raised his hand to strike, which you just squinted at because he held you too tightly for you to get out and stand up for yourself. But you didn't feel the impact. When you opened your eyes, you saw how Draken intercepted his hand, then twisted it behind his back.
"Should I break your hands so that you don't raise them on girls, you bastard?"
This memory has remained as vivid to this day. Then you started communicating even more, and you didn't realize that you were developing feelings for him. It was becoming increasingly difficult to serve clients. You felt disgusted when you provided services to various ugly types. But one day you realized that you were representing Draken instead of all these people. You saw his focused face, how his hair falls over his shoulders, and how perfect his cock is for you.
"Hey, [Y/N], what are you thinking about?"
"I just remembered something", - you smiled at your memories, now it was nice to realize that he is always near.
You were walking through the evening streets of Shibuya. A warm breeze pleasantly blew over your face, illuminated by the rays of the setting sun. You took his hand in a desire to be even closer to him. Draken smiled gently, hiding behind his smile a slight blush that appeared on his cheeks.
"Draken-kun!!", - your idyll was interrupted by a familiar voice, to which you both turned, - "Unexpectedly to meet you here", - Takemichi smiled at you with his brightest smile, that after this it is simply impossible to be angry with him.
"Oh, are you with Hina and Emma? Shopping? "
"Something like that...", - the guy showed you a bunch of shopping bags that he had to drag.
"Yes, and we decided to introduce Emma to someone", - Hinata intervened in your conversation, laughing playfully, although she noticed that her friend wasn't laughing, - "Emma?"
"Oh, no, it's alright", - the blonde forced a smile, apparently still tormented by old feelings.
"In that case, do you mind if we..." - the next step for Takemichi turned out to be fatal. Tripping over the uneven asphalt, which he did not notice because of the large number of packages, the guy with a grimace of horror and confusion flew straight at you. All the bags flew out of his hands with a crash when he tried to somehow soften his fall, but everything turned out to be useless. All you felt next was pain. However, you were smarter and managed to land without injury.
But…
It doesn't matter what happened in the past between Takemichi and Draken, but he's not going to tolerate this. It was enough for him that you met in a brothel. A tight vein appeared on his temple, and his fists clenched by themselves.
Your chest ached from the received blow, as you understood, with Takemichi's forehead, plus, he convulsively tried to apologize to you, because of which he buried his knee in your crotch and, even more embarrassed, in an attempt to correct the situation and justify himself to the Draken, touched your boobs, after which he experienced the whole spectrum of horror.
Grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and lifting him off you like a kitten in one movement, Draken pushed the guy away from him and swung for a blow, but…
"Ken, wait!!"
"Eh?", - he looked at you in bewilderment but did not injure Takemichi.
"Stop it, it's too much", - you looked at the frightened poor thing, who was barely holding back his sobs, here they are, the consequences of a hopeless situation, - "Nothing terrible happened, so you shouldn't apologize", - you smiled your sweetest smile to defuse the situation and took Draken by the hand, - "You don't need to be so aggressive, honey."
"Tts", - Emma, who was happy about the situation, suddenly drooped and threw a dissatisfied look at you.
"So you are...dating?" - Hinata covered her mouth with her hand in surprise and smiled, - You look very cute together, don't you, Em ... ma...?
"A great couple, considering that it was possible to choose..."
"That's it, we went, Takemichi, right?" - the girl began to push her friend to continue the evening shopping and not create even more ridiculous situations.
"Uh ... but.."
"Come on, Takemichi!!"
You two just stood there, holding hands and looking after the people who were leaving.
"They are, of course, funny, but was it just my imagination or Emma is jealous?", - you looked into Draken's eyes, excitement crept into your heart, because once upon a time you saw photos of Emma in his room, - "Do you think she...?"
"No", - the guy interrupted you, - "But even if so, everything is long in the past, and now..." - Draken leaned over to you and pressed his forehead to yours, - "...now I love only you", - followed by a long, filled with his love, kiss.

Chapter 11
Tumblr media
Masterlist
The days following the funeral had been extremely lonely for Kaksi. While she knew she wasn’t the only one who was suffering from losing Baji, she felt like she shouldn’t bother anyone, attempting to overcome her own grief by herself. Eventually, she decided to pay a visit to her best friend despite the fact that she hadn’t called or texted ever since the ceremony.
But that had only worsened things, adding to the loneliness and sadness as she returned to her place after learning that Kumi had left Tokyo just a few days prior. Part of Kaksi was hurt that she hadn’t given her any notice, not even bothering to say goodbye, but another part of her knew that it was for the best and could only wish her a good recovery.
She felt useless being unable to help her but she figured that if she couldn’t be there for Kumi she would be there for anyone else that needed her. One of those people happened to be Chifuyu - while none of them wanted to address their feelings outright, they found each other’s company comforting. Kaksi could never replace Baji, the Toman member remembered painfully when he was with her, but they would still share a laugh together from time to time.
It had always been evident to Kaksi that Chifuyu’s feelings for Baji went beyond friendship and she wondered if the first division captain had been aware. She hoped he did not, keeping Chifuyu so close yet so far seemed cruel to her, especially when Kumi had entered the picture. But that was none of her business and she didn’t exactly want to broach the subject of romance with her friend even if he did seem to want to be involved with that side of her life.
“Are you going to see Kazutora soon?”
Kaksi let out a sigh, knowing she would regret it if she didn’t.
“I guess so.”
“He’d be happy to see you,” Chifuyu reassured with a little smile. “Heard Takemichi and Draken are going to see him soon too.”
Takemichi.
Kaksi couldn’t figure why but it still bothered her that he was always so involved in everything that was related to the gang. While she had nothing personal against him (at least she thought so), she couldn’t help feeling strange about his role in all of this.
“Why is he everywhere?”
“Who?” Chifuyu asked, confused. “Takemichi?”
Kaksi nodded.
“He says he wants to be Toman’s leader,” he explained.
“What the fuck?”
Chifuyu laughed at Kaksi’s evident confusion.
“I know. He’s insane.”
“Why does he want to become Toman’s leader?” she asked. “He was a nobody months ago.”
“I don’t know,” Chifuyu admitted. “But he’s pretty damn determined to achieve his goal. Besides, Baji trusts him.”
Kaksi smiled at his last words but that wouldn’t be enough to convince her that Takemichi’s motivations and behaviour were normal.
“So you trust him?”
Chifuyu nodded.
“He’s weird,” Kaksi pointed out. “Don’t know if I do.”
Kaksi had good intuitions and she had learned in the past to always trust them. She needed to talk to Takemichi, there was clearly something she was missing in all this chaos. If someone was to be Toman’s leader after Mikey it certainly would not be Takemichi, she was convinced and even if it was, why would he want that?
As Kaksi wondered about that she was reminded of her previous conversation with him. Something didn’t add up once again - why would Baji trust Takemichi? They barely knew each other. While she knew Baji was as, if not more, intuitive and perceptive than her, there must have been more than linked them. Maybe there was something Chifuyu was unaware of? No, that didn’t make sense; she remembered Takemichi coming to Kumi and her looking for intel about Kazutora and Baji, as the Valhalla conflict had been brewing.
Takemichi really was a nobody and despite suddenly appearing in their lives, he somehow played a key role in the gang. Kaksi didn’t know why she felt the need to investigate him and thinking about it now, she realised that all the people she held dear were related to him. Perhaps it was out of desperation for something to distract her, but for her peace of mind, she needed to know more about him.
---
Takemichi had been surprised to see Kaksi, still in her school uniform, standing by his school’s entrance. His blue eyes widened as he caught her brown ones. Her face wore a neutral expression as usual and he couldn’t help feeling intimidated as she walked over to him. She didn’t smile or wave at him but she greeted him and quickly asked if she could have a few words with him.
Takemichi agreed and awkwardly, he and the taller girl walked together for a little while. They didn’t have a specific destination in mind but he figured they could just sit at the playground right around the corner and talk. He hadn’t seen her since Baji’s funeral and he couldn’t tell how she felt, finding Kaksi rather unreadable. He did however note that she looked more tired than he had usually seen her.
“What exactly are your motivations, Takemichi?” she asked suddenly, catching him off-guard.
He stayed silent for a moment, wondering what a good answer would be to that question.
“What do you mean?”
“A few months ago I had no idea who you were,” she explained. “Then suddenly you became the most talked-about person among my friends for some reason.”
It was true that Takemichi’s involvement with Toman had evolved very quickly and he felt himself sink deeper into its core every day. So Kaksi’s confusion was founded as someone who had watched most things unfold on the sidelines.
“And now I’m told you want to become Toman’s number one?” she continued, a frown on her face. “What is it that you know that you are not telling us?”
Kaksi’s voice wasn’t threatening in the slightest, but Takemichi couldn’t help getting nervous. There were so many things that he knew that he wasn’t telling anyone and the burden of his secret was getting harder to carry every day. Part of Takemichi carried the guilt of Baji’s death and while he had prevented Mikey from killing Kazutora, he had still failed his original mission.
It didn’t matter that Baji technically killed himself, Kazutora had inflicted to him fatal injuries that Takemichi failed to anticipate despite knowing more about the events that were meant to unfold than anyone else. He stayed silent. What would Kaksi think if she knew the truth? Would she hate him for failing to save Baji?
“What do you want, Takemichi?” she asked, filling the silence once again as Takemichi found himself unable to answer.
“I just want to save everyone.”
It felt good to say it but seeing the look on Kaksi’s face he realised that he had only confused her more.
“How?”
Takemichi didn’t know. He wasn’t smart, he wasn’t strong, and he was breaking too. Tears filled his eyes and he realized that the pressure was unbearable under Kaksi’s gaze.
“I don’t know, Kaksi,” he replied, tears rolling down his cheeks. “I have no idea.”
The girl could feel her vision blur as Takemichi started to sob.
“I wish I could save everyone too.”
Her voice cracked and she was happy no one was there to witness them.
“I wish I could have done something,” she continued, frustrated and tears falling uncontrollably. “I knew Kazutora was unstable but I didn’t know what to do. I should have insisted and talked to him the moment I knew what he was preparing. Baji…”
Kaksi, finding it hard to speak, paused for a moment. It was sickening to watch her like this, Takemichi thought, the guilt he felt amplified.
“Fuck I didn’t even talk to Baji. I just let him push me away like everyone else.”
“Please don’t blame yourself,” Takemichi begged her. “I’m the one who failed to protect Baji.”
Kaksi shook her head. Takemichi couldn’t have known how far Kazutora could go. But Kaksi did, as much as she loved him, she knew that Kazutora was never only the boy who gently kissed her knuckles. No, she knew there was a much more violent and aggressive side to her love. She had believed that it was under control, that she could keep him under control but she had failed.
“You didn’t know.”
Takemichi cried louder at those words. He wanted to scream and he did, unable to contain his feelings.
“I did,” he admitted, the words barely making it out. “I knew Kazutora would stab Baji and I couldn’t stop him. I couldn’t save Baji.”
He slammed his fist on the table they were sitting on and kept weeping. Kaksi’s eyes widened slightly, surprised by the sudden movement but more importantly by what he said.
“What do you mean you knew Kazutora would stab Baji?” she asked in horror and confusion.
“Forgive me, Kaksi.”
That was all Takemichi said for a moment along with repeated apologies. Kaksi asked him again, feeling her heartbeat increase. What did he mean?
“I knew Baji was going to die,” he started confessing.
But all Kaksi could do was cry harder as she listened to Takemichi’s secrets. He did not think anymore, telling her everything from the day he was meant to die, to Naoto, to Hina, to all the events he was able to change, to the guilt that crushed him and to his helplessness regarding Baji’s death.
By the end of his explanation, both of them sat quietly. Takemichi felt good for having gotten this all out of his chest but now he had to deal with how this could possibly affect Kaksi. Despite her initial shock, Kaksi figured this was way too serious for Takemichi to lie and it did explain how he had climbed Toman’s ranks so quickly and why he was so persistent. She felt a little guilty for thinking that his intentions could have been bad before they had talked.
So she apologised to him and reassured him that Baji’s death was in no way his fault and acknowledged that the weight of the responsibility he held was crushing.
“What are you going to do now?” Kaksi asked, having dried her tears.
“I’m going to go back to twelve years in the future.”
“Do you think the future will be fixed this time?”
“I hope so,” he said with a little smile.
Kaksi stayed silent for a moment.
“I don’t want anything bad to happen to him anymore,” she said, eyes filling with tears again. “I’ll help you protect Mikey.”
Mikey who she hadn’t talked to in weeks. How terrible she felt, the memory of their fight still fresh in her mind. Takemichi smiled at her, the love Kaksi held for Mikey was always so evident to him but was it as evident to her and Mikey? He couldn’t tell but he hoped he could offer them the happiness they deserved.
Takemichi kept the girl company for a while longer and she promised his secret was safe with her before bidding him goodbye. They weren’t sure they would see each other again before Takemichi next time leapt, so she told him she would be meeting Kazutora and watch out for Mikey as much as she could.
This definitely wasn’t the motivation she had expected Takemichi to have but maybe she had been wrong about him. Takemichi was strong in his own way and a lot of people counted on him. She hoped he would be fine.
---
As days passed, Mikey remained on Kaksi’s mind, but he was usually quickly joined by Kazutora. What was even meant to happen to him? As much as Kaksi wanted to be angry with him, she couldn’t. She missed him already and she knew this was only the start of their troubles but what even was left of their relationship? She was unsure.
Chifuyu said he would be happy to see her and he had also told her about the rage and renewed energy that had taken over Kazutora when Mikey had hit her. She knew he still cared and she did too, so very much. Kaksi’s feelings for Kazutora never faded but she worried if he would ever believe that. All he seemed to think about was Mikey.
Kaksi didn’t know what to expect, making her way to the detention centre. She could feel tears blurring her vision at the thought of Kazutora and her being separated again as well as the reason why. He carried so much guilt that she was worried about how this would affect his fragile mental health more than anything.
She followed the police officers leading her to face her ex-boyfriend nervously. As soon as she saw him behind glass windows she couldn’t prevent her tears from falling. Kazutora watched her quietly, his own eyes filling with tears at the sight of her pain. They didn’t have that unfamiliar glimmer she was scared of and they displayed sadness more than anything else.
What could he ever say to make all this better? He didn’t think there was anything that would.
All Kazutora felt was guilt and regret. He had killed one of the most precious people to him and hurt the dearest to his heart. Kaksi was too kind to visit him especially after what he had done and accused her of. He hadn’t expected her to visit him, he hadn’t expected anyone. He had already felt like he had used all his luck when Draken had delivered Mikey’s message to him, therefore seeing the face of the girl he loved truly felt like one last blessing before his punishment started.
“Kaksi,” he started. “I’m so sorry.”
She didn’t say anything, drying her tears instead as Kazutora’s fell down his cheeks.
“I won’t ask for your forgiveness. You have every right to hate me.”
“You know I could never hate you, Kazutora,” she said with a sad smile.
He didn’t say anything for a moment, then murmured, “You should.”
At that moment Kazutora wished that Kaksi had moved on with Mikey. He didn’t want to be a burden to her anymore, she didn’t deserve any of that.
“How long are they expecting your sentence to be?” she asked, nervously.
“Ten years.”
Kaksi clenched her teeth at the thought, the words repeating in her head. She wanted to scream in frustration but this was probably the best outcome, she was aware. So she decided to hide her distress, not wanting to worry Kazutora.
“It will be lonely without you,” she said. “But I’ll wait.”
Kazutora’s eyes widened in shock.
“What?”
It was as crazy as it sounded. Kaksi would wait for him again.
“I’ll wait for you,” she repeated. “I can do it.”
Kazutora wondered if those words were meant to convince him or herself.
“Kaksi,” he begged. “Don’t do this. I don’t want you to wait for me.”
Those words hurt her.
“What am I supposed to do then?” she asked, voice breaking and tears blurring her vision again.
Kaksi was tired of everything she had ever known falling apart. Baji was dead, Kumi was gone and despite her promise to Takemichi, she didn’t even know if she could fix things with Mikey. She didn’t think she could handle Kazutora leaving her too. Ten years would be torture without him but the idea of one day reuniting with her boyfriend was enough right now to comfort her.
He didn’t know what to tell her. Kazutora had already harmed her so much he wondered if having a proper breakup now wouldn’t be best for her. But seeing her cry despite trying to stay strong he couldn’t afford to break her heart a second time.
“Kaksi, I don’t want you to waste any more time for me,” he explained. “Ten years is a long time. You can’t wait that long, especially not for me.”
The girl took a moment before answering.
“I’m not giving up on you, Kazutora,” she said, a new wave of determination overtaking her. “You said you wouldn’t ask me to forgive you but why? Because you don’t think you deserve my forgiveness or because you don’t want to earn it?”
Kazutora’s sandy eyes widened. Of course he wanted to earn Kaksi’s forgiveness. He would do anything for her.
“Because I don’t think I deserve it.”
“Well that’s up to me to decide, Kazutora,” she replied, her voice colder.
Despite wanting to argue, Kazutora stayed silent.
“If you feel guilty, then fix your mistakes,” she told him. “Get proper rehabilitation and let me help you once you’re out.”
Kazutora gave her a sad smile.
“I will.”
It was a promise that he couldn’t break, he thought. Kazutora hoped that despite her words, Kaksi would move on. He hoped she stayed away from Toman, made new friends, fell in love and pursued the career she wanted to. Whether she was there to welcome him or not when he would come out didn’t matter. Her feelings would fade; they had to. The idea of her moving on with Mikey felt like knives in his stomach but he would not blame her for any decisions she would make without him this time.
“Promise you’ll be happy for the next ten years,” Kazutora demanded.
Kaksi couldn’t guarantee that.
“I’ll try my best, Kazutora,” she said with a little smile.
He smiled back at her before leaving, their meeting ending.
---
Kaksi couldn’t tell if she was satisfied with their conversation or not but she would be welcoming Kazutora back into her life in ten years, that was a promise to herself. She wondered what other promises she was going to have to make and if she would be able to keep all of them.
The most urgent one was probably watching out for Mikey but in order to do that she needed to mend their relationship. Having been kept busy with school, she was struggling to find the right moment to talk to Mikey and the fact he wouldn’t answer her texts only made her more anxious. What if it was too late? What if he just didn’t want to see her again?
This would not be surprising after their last interaction. She hated that she would rather run away from her problems than confront them head-on. Still, she found some free time on a Saturday afternoon to pay a visit to Mikey.
He beat her to it, however, and it was with confusion that she had found him on his CB250T waiting for her not too far from her apartment block, a Thursday afternoon as Kaksi came back from school alone. She made her way over to him, rather nervously despite it not being visible on her features. Mikey’s deep black eyes didn’t leave her and while he realized he had missed her terribly, this was not what he came to tell her.
They greeted each other more awkwardly than two friends should, but a lot of things had changed since their last interaction.
“I wanted to apologize for what happened at the junkyard,” Mikey said, bowing in front of Kaksi. “I’m sorry I hurt you while you tried to protect Kazutora.”
Kaksi’s brown eyes widened.
“I know you didn’t mean it,” she reassured him. “It was an accident.”
“It doesn’t matter. I hit you.”
She watched as Mikey remained in the same position.
“I forgive you, Mikey,” she told him, not wanting him to feel guilty about it anymore.
He stood straight again, his face expressionless before walking back to his bike. Despite sincerely feeling awful for what he had done to Kaksi he couldn’t help remaining angry. The day Baji died, Mikey would have had to kill Kaksi if he had wanted to kill Kazutora - this was how much she loved Kazutora and not him. This was a selfish thought considering everything that had happened but that realisation hurt Mikey.
Kaksi watched him, even more, confused by his behaviour than when he had first appeared.
“Mikey, wait!” she exclaimed as he started his engine.
She quickly walked over to him, not wanting the conversation to end here.
“I’m sorry for what I said the last time we had lunch together,” she told him. “I di-”
“There’s no need for you to apologise,” he cut her off, coldly. “I know you only care about Kazutora.”
Kaksi looked at him in shock. This was far from true and it angered her to think Mikey believed that.
“This is false,” she protested. “How could you say this?”
Mikey took a moment before answering. He didn’t want to argue with her but this was probably the best way to make sure she would never talk to him again. While it was true that Mikey’s feelings had been hurt, this wasn’t the only thing that drove him to cut Kaksi out of his life so abruptly. Things were getting far too dangerous these days and even he was unsure about Toman’s future. For her safety, he needed to push her away even if it hurt both of them.
“What am I to you, Kaksi?” Mikey asked.
What was she supposed to answer? She didn’t have a clear answer other than her friend but before she could say anything, Mikey spoke again.
“I don’t want to be Kazutora’s placeholder.”
“This is not what you are, Mikey!” she replied, growing frustrated. “You were never Kazutora’s placeholder! You are my friend.”
“Then I don’t think I want to be friends anymore,” he said, the pain he felt was imperceptible at surface level but palpable at his very core.
Kaksi stood in silence and Mikey decided he didn’t have anything else to tell her. So he left, the noise from his engine filling the girl’s ears as he drove away, accelerating as if that would make it all go away. Maybe Kaksi loved him as he loved her, maybe she didn’t. No matter the answer though, Mikey knew he had to keep her safe and that could only be possible by exiting her life, as heartbreaking as it was.
Mikey didn’t drive back home, instead, he kept wandering the streets with his older brother and his childhood friend in his thoughts. What would they think of this?
There wasn’t any other solution, was there?
---
Heartbroken over Mikey, Kaksi realised that it was one by one that she was losing her friends. The wound Baji had left her was still too fresh and she wondered if loneliness wouldn’t be better, after all. She had spent the following days visiting Kazutora while she still could but his trial had ended quickly and his sentence had already started now.
After that, it felt like everything had started to slow down. Despite spending most of her time studying, Kaksi’s days seemed endless. She didn’t talk to any remaining Toman members except for Chifuyu but she had the feeling that eventually, they would be parting ways too very soon. She assumed Takemichi had time leapt since the last time she had seen him he hadn’t even returned her smile.
She also noticed Chifuyu avoided mentioning the gang at all around her and it became obvious that something was wrong. Kaksi wondered for some time, maybe too long, if she should investigate by herself or not. Eventually, she had decided to talk to Mitsuya, one of the most reasonable people she knew and although he welcomed her warmly and didn’t hold it against her that she hadn’t talked to him in a long time, he only gave her a warning.
Like Chifuyu he looked too exhausted for a middle schooler and it appeared to her that he had matured even faster if it was even possible for someone in his predicament. All he was able to tell her was that Toman was changing and he was confused as to where all of this was heading. She tried to get some answers to her question but Mitsuya told her frankly that she would be better off without knowing.
So it was Yamagishi that she had recognised on her way to cram school that had given her more details about what she wanted to know. As expected the few rumours she had heard were true. Toman had gotten bigger and that involved more trouble, Kisaki was now one of the most influential members and all that mattered now was blood and money.
Kaksi had tried to know what all of this meant exactly but Yamagishi told her that his position didn’t allow him to disclose more information. He had given her a warning too but with new irritation, she had cut him off and left. She didn’t know what to do. Was there anything she could do? In a few months what used to be a kid's playground had turned into one of the most dangerous and feared gangs of Tokyo.
As much as Kaksi still cared for some of its members, she knew when to give up on a pointless battle but before doing that she had to try one last time to spare those she loved.
“Chifuyu, you should leave Toman.”
The boy stayed silent for a moment.
“It’s not that easy,” he told her.
“But it will be harder if you wait.”
“Don’t worry about me, Kaksi,” Chifuyu reassured.
He should know that was impossible.
“Well, I can’t do that. I know you won’t talk about it but Toman changed,” she replied, voice louder as her frustration built up. “These are not people you want to be involved with.”
“I’m aware but I know what I’m doing.”
Chifuyu remained calm but this wasn’t how he felt. He appreciated that Kaksi looked out for him but he could never leave Toman. This was Baji’s legacy and if it wasn’t him, then who would fight for its sake?
Kaksi chuckled, but it was bitterness and pain that had her speaking this time.
“This is what Baji thought too before fucking dying.”
Chifuyu clenched his fists, his patience running thin.
“What do you think you are going to achieve by yourself?” she asked, her words pointed.
Chifuyu’s jaw tensed even further.
“More than you ever will, Kaksi.”
She wasn’t hurt by those words. Chifuyu was right, all Kaksi could do was run away. But some things weren’t worth fighting for.
“I know what all this meant to Baji,” she said with teary eyes. “But he is dead, as painful as it is and you will end up joining him if you’re not careful, Chifuyu.”
This hurt but Chifuyu didn’t expect Kaksi to understand.
“Well then I hope I do,” he replied, coldly. “I’d rather die trying too hard than not trying at all.”
Kaksi chuckled again, a sardonic, almost soulless sound.
“Living then dying for someone that could never return what you gave to them looks painful.”
There was a pause as Chifuyu let those words sink in, and considered exactly how much Baji may have understood his feelings.
“If this is what you think this is then you should leave,” Chifuyu finally answered, angry and hurt.
The girl stayed quiet and decided she had said what she had to. Maybe she had been too harsh, maybe she hadn’t been harsh enough but this was as hard as she would try. She liked to think she was devoted to the ones she loved but she figured she had been wrong. If Chifuyu wanted to live for the ghost of his past then so be it, but this was something Kaksi refused to do.
Still, there was something she was afraid of and that was regrets. Walking away from Chifuyu after warning him was something but giving up without trying was something else which was why abandoning Mikey for good felt different. While he was the one who had ended their relationship, Kaksi thought that maybe she hadn’t been insistent enough. So it wouldn’t be without having him hear her out that she would put Toman behind her for good.
---
Waiting for Mikey to open the door of his home felt like the last goodbye. How stupid Kaksi felt for having told Takemichi that she would help him protect Mikey. Who was she kidding? She was never a hero. Maybe loneliness, grief and sadness killed her empathy or maybe she was just tired, she wasn’t sure.
When Mikey finally opened the door she was afraid he would immediately close it again but he didn’t; his deep black eyes studied her instead. He looked different, to say the least, while his features hadn’t changed, like Kazutora, there was something unfamiliar and slightly frightening about him now. Kaksi had anticipated this, however. She wondered if it was really a stranger she faced now?
“Can we talk, Mikey?” she asked, in a neutral voice, hiding her uneasiness.
“We have nothing to talk about.”
As straightforward as ever, Mikey was ready to close his front door but Kaksi stopped him, blocking the door with her hand and foot, begging him to listen, for once.
“I thought I was clear, last time,” he warned. “Get out of my sight.”
“What the fuck is wrong with you, Mikey?”
She didn’t expect an answer, she just needed to get her frustration out.
“What are you even doing? Quit pushing me away!” she barked at him. “I just want to help you.”
“I don’t need your help. I don’t need you.”
Mikey’s tone was icy and he remained unimpressed by Kaksi’s outburst. This was so unlike her, he thought still. She was always so calm and composed but he figured that too many things had been testing her patience lately, one of them being him. Her expression remained unchanged at those words and he wondered if it was defeat that he saw in her eyes.
“What a fucking joke Toman is,” she told him, a bitter smile on her lips. “A new age for delinquents? A gang that’s all for one, and one for all? What happened to that? Did it just die with Baji?”
Mikey’s eyes widened slightly but it was almost imperceptible. With one swift movement, he pushed away Kaksi’s arm and had her stumble back.
“Don’t talk about things you don’t understand,” he snapped at her. “And mind your own fucking business.”
“Fuck you,” Kaksi yelled at Mikey, using all her strength to push him away from her before walking away.
She didn’t want to cry, she was too furious to allow that. Kaksi had so many things to say but she figured it was better to run. Clearly, there was no reasoning with any of her friends.
She did what she could, she would never try again.
