Queer rights may be about our right to be normal- to be normal couples, to live normal trans lives, to be normal people. But queer rights are also about our autonomy to be odd. We are QUEER, after all- weird, odd, not normal. And that is something that was originally imposed upon us, but we have taken it. It is ours now. Because lgbt rights are about our right to be normal, yes, but it is also about bodily autonomy! It is about our right to live our lives with odd genders and weird relationship structures and queer bodies. Assimilation might sound like a fine way to escape prejudice- but quite frankly, it doesn't matter. Because we are not just fighting for our rights to live like cishet people, we are also fighting for our right to live without having to worry about putting a toe out of line. We are queer, and we always will be. We won't really be free until we can live our lives as odd, as strange, as queer as we want.

honestly when I see someone with a gender/sexuality label I don't understand, I treat it like seeing a mutual post about a show I don't watch. like I understand that it's important to them even if I have no idea what's going on and I respect that. it would be weird to complain about a show being confusing when you've never watched it or even read a synopsis, and it's weird to complain about an identity being confusing when you don't identify with it.

Steve being Eddie’s bi or gay awakening whatever. Eddie thinks he’s just so grateful for Steve—I mean the man literally carried him in his arms out of hell like some mythological hero and then basically struck the fear of god on the medical staff who refused to help—so of course he’s obsessed with him, he owes him his life! Of course Eddie wants to know about his day even if Steve thinks it’s boring, of course he brings him lunch to work and maybe adds the little treats he’s seen Steve enjoys like Reese’s cups, of course he’s been listening to Pink Floyd and Dire Straits just because those are Steve’s favorites to gather inspiration. It’s only natural he’s sat Lucas down and demanded he explain the rules of basketball to him so Eddie can at least understand what’s going on when Wayne invites Steve over to watch the game. It’s not weird at all that he asked Jonathan to make a copy of that one cute picture he snapped of Steve roughhousing with Dustin when he develops the film. It’s not strange that he’s read Alice in Wonderland three times just because that’s Steve’s favorite novel. Of course he takes Steve to the movies and he buys him all the snacks he wants. It’s a given that they drive together on a weekend trip Chicago to see a show Steve’s been dying to see. The man saved his life! Eddie’s just grateful, that’s all. That’s why he’s so surprised when Robin confronts him about his “crush”, what crush?? Eddie likes girls! And yes, Steve is an attractive guy, half the town agrees, that’s not a controversial opinion. Who cares that Eddie thinks Steve could be a Hollywood heartthrob if he put his mind and talents to it. He doesn’t have a crush, that’s ridiculous. But Eddie is Eddie and he can’t just leave something be so of course he ends up cornering Nancy of all people to ask her how did she know she liked Steve back in junior year. To his absolute surprise she laughs in his face and tells him not to worry, she’s not interested, and she won’t stand in the way. She also says she’s happy for them, that she always knew Steve “played for both teams” and she’s happy he’s with someone who takes care of him. After that ridiculous conversation Nancy leaves, and Eddie is even more confused than before, because apparently Steve likes guys too, but Eddie doesn’t! Doesn’t he? Nancy is right that he likes taking care of Steve but thats because… well he’s running out of excuses isn’t he?

Aujourd’hui, j’ai ecris ecrit quelque chose avec de nouvelle vocabulaire j’ai apprendu appris avec le livre par assimil pour apprendre le francais.

La petite histoire j’ai ecris... Je n’ai pas un (keyboard) francais et je sais que il y a meme des fautes :P

J’ai ouvert les placards dans la cuisine ce matin et ils etaient tous vides! Donc Je suis alle au supermarche pour faire les courses. J’ai achete des poissons, de viande, un kilo de pommes tres fraiches et une livre de cerises. Je devais acheter de la farine de quelque part. Il n'y avait plus de farine. J'ai pense que peut-etre je peux chercher à un autre marché. Quand j'ai arrive, j'ai senti une odeur merveilleuse. C'etait la boulangerie. La madame la bas etait tres sympa. Elle m'a donne un gateau et a dit - Allez-y! C'est bio, goutez-le! Ne hesitez pas ma fille. Je l'ai essaye et je l'ai adore. J'ai pose la madame le gateau est a combien, et a mon surprise, il n'etait pas cher. Donc, j'ai achete un pour moi et un autre pour mon frere. Apres, elle m'a donne la monnaie, je suis alle a acheter de la farine pour preparer une quiche au poisson. Malheureusement, il semble que il n'y a pas de farine partout actuellement. Peut-etre il y a encore un probleme avec la chaine d'approvisionnement. Donc, j'ai decide marcher au cafe a la place. J'ai commande une tartine avec un cafe. J'ai laisse le cafe devenir froid pendant j'ai regarde les gens marchent et les batiments dans la lumiere du soleil. Il n'y a rien a la banlieue comme la ville. C'est mon endroit prefere. La ville est chaotique mais j'adore les moments a la paix comme ca. Quand j'ai termine mon repas, je suis alle au grand magasin en face. J'ai fait d’images de mon endroit. Je ne pouvais pas acheter tout que je voulais, mais je me suis régalé aujourd'hui. C'est-a-dire, c'etait une bonne journee productive.

thinking about the women who passed down kabbalah to their children while witches burned in the next village over. how many mothers kept literal magic alive.

thinking about how every single person that lived before me, every branch of my family tree, had to choose to survive. living has always been in the present progressive for Jews; every breath they took was a choice to fight just a little longer.

i come from people who survived the spanish inquisition, the soviet union, the Shoah, the judeo-roman wars, ottoman imperialism, the rise and fall of so many empires i cannot name them all, and the only uniting factor is them. they taught their toddlers the sh’ma and lit candles and read books and sewed clothes and spun linen and cured meat and davened and smiled and laughed and they did that for two thousand years. ten years ago i became the first bat mitzvah in my family line. the first woman in my family to read from the torah.

i hope they’re proud. i hope i was worth it for them.
