The Nine Greek Muses

CALLIOPE

The Muse of Eloquence & Epic Poetry. Can also be spelled Kalliope. In the chart signifies a poet, a talented writer, a beautiful voice or someone good at delivering speeches. Can show someone who uses their voice to get what they want or to seduce, especially when conjunct Venus. She is the oldest of the nine muses & considered the leader of the muses.

The Muse of History. Can also be spelled ”Klio” Can show an interest in history. Can also show someone who ”makes history” In the natal chart its a fame indicator and an indicator of being interested in history. Can make you unforgettable. Ive seen this in the 11th house of a person who was involved in a scandal on the internet and since then her name has been linked to that.

Her name means: "To make famous" or "celebrate." from the Greek verb kleô.

URANIA

The Muse of Astronomy & Astrology. Back then astrology and astronomy was considered the same. She was also considered Muse of mathematics. In the chart she indicates talent and strong interest in astrology, astronomy, the stars, mathematics and metaphysics in general.

Her name means: ”Heavenly" or "of heaven"

THALIA

Muse of Comedy & Idyllic Poetry. In the chart it shows a comedic talent. Conjunct the Ascendant can be someone who are good at funny expressions. Shows someone who naturally have comedic timing since timing is everything when it comes to humour. Harsh aspects can shows someone who tries too hard to be funny or someone whos humour is not appreciated.

Her name means: "Rich festivity" or "blooming."

MELPOMENE

Muse of Tragedy. In the chart it can show where we experience tragedy, grief or loss and what makes us experience these things. In the chart of an actor it indicates a talent in playing tragic and sad roles. If it conjuncts Venus the person might experience a lot of tragedy in love. If conjunct asteroid talent it indicates a talent with these topics and for example work as a psychiatrist.

Her name means: "To celebrate with dance and song."from the Greek verb melpô or melpomai

POLYHYMNIA

The Muse of Hymns & Meditation. In the chart can make someone calm, peaceful and collected. Definitely an introvert indicator and can show someone who doesnt not talk a lot. She is often depicted holding a finger to her mouth.

Her name means: "Praise" or "hymn." from the Greek words poly- "many" and hymnos

ERATO

The Muse of Erotic Poetry & Mimic Imitation. In astrology shows someone who acts as a muse for erotic art. Prominent in the chart of sex symbols & adult movie stars. If conjunct the Ascendant or Midheaven shows someone who awakes erotic imaginations in others.

Her name means: "Lovely" or "beloved" from the Greek word eratos.

EUTERPE

The Muse of Music. In the chart it shows musical talent. Singing and songwriting. Also prominent in the charts of DJs since they know what the public wants to hear. Can also show what you make music about. Ive seen this conjunct Venus in the chart of a woman who dated a musician who made songs about her.

Her name means: "Giver of much delight." from the Greek words eu- and terpô.

TERPSICHORE

The Muse of Dancing. In the chart she gives talent in dancing & choreography. The legendary balet dancer Vaslav Nijinsk has Terpsichore conjunct Venus and Anna Pavlova have it conjunct her Part of Fortune. They both helped establish the Russian Ballet. Both of them household names because of their dance talent.

Her name means: "Delighting in Dance" from the Greek words terpsis "to delight" and khoros "dance".

Astrology Quick-List + Informal Survey: The Muses

Researched for my use, compiled and posted for public reference. Disclaimer is in my bio.

Below is a list of the asteroids for the nine muses and a very brief description of what they rule over or are associated with. Under the description I've listed some musicians with notable conjunctions to each respective asteroid. (If I listed every aspect, the post would be a million miles long, and other aspects are as a rule less relevant than tight conjunctions anyway, particularly for asteroids.)

KALLIOPE [22]

Kalliope is the eldest of the muses. She began as the goddess of eloquence, but since the arts were divided into separate domains, is the muse of epic poetry. Her name is translated, roughly, to “beautiful-voiced”.

Astrology for writers

Moon - jup conj in the chart will help you derive inspiration from your emotions while writing . You wanna cry write it down you're raged write it downnn you'll be happy later trust me .

Mercury - jup and asteroid Hermes prominence shows that you should just start writing the inspiration will follow , these are the people who realise after writing how good they have done 😭✨

Moon, mercury, jup , Venus in 3rd house is for courage and motivational writing . Venus also indicates the love genre .

Ketu , Jupiter, in 5th , ketu past life talent for writing , Jupiter being naturally talented with creation, is great with all forms of arts .

Mercury in 5 th are the young teen writers who become great eventually, don't tell me you didn't have a Wattpad phase ( that also applies for Mercury in 3rd )

Saraswati yoga ( Venus and Mercury occupy Lagna, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th and 11th either jointly or independently, Jupiter being in its own, exaltation or friendly sign) gives talent for writing.

Pluto - mercury, Pluto - moon aspects , speaks about writing in dangerous and difficult subjects , activism as well . Thriller , ghost stories , gore etc.

Neptune - mercury aspects , has vivid imagination and writing about fantasy related subjects .

Punarvasu mercury for poetry .

Krittika, hasta , punarvasu, ardra , mrigashira, Swati , shatabhisha, purva phalguni, purva ashadha, Uttara bhadrapada as moon nakshatra or sun nakshatra might give you fame as well in this sector.

Asteroid Kalliope , Erato , Eutrepe prominent in your chart shows that your inspiration in writing is divine and check the asteroid chart mercury to find the source of it .

If you really like a writer and take inspiration from them look if they have an asteroid named after them and look for the prominence in your chart for eg : 3453 dostoevsky . Look for various writer asteroids and the prominence in your chart , that would help you find more inspiration .

Tip : write in the hour of mercury on the day your moon is transiting for divine inspiration. Making a sigil in this hour in your notebook will also do great .

💥asteroid vasari-neptune people are very creative. I’ve found this aspect in charts of artists, specifically people that draw/paint with a lot of precision, like detailed art. This is especially emphasised if vasari is in the 5h or 3h.

💥asteroid medusa-venus people attract jealous people. Specifically people are jealous of their beauty or artistic abilities. Or the more difficult aspects could find themselves being jealous of other people’s beauty.

💥people with asteroid sominium-neptune dream frequently. They can lucid dream often or their dreams can be very consuming. These are the people that wake up more tired because they feel like they didn’t sleep.

💥people with asteroid diana in the 10h or 6h don’t want to work a 9-5. They want independence and they want endless freedom. They don’t want to feel tied down to boring routine or repetitiveness. This is even more emphasised if there’s prominent uranus in their chart too.

💥people with aphrodite in the 1h are simply stunning. I’ve seen this placement in so many attractive people’s charts. It’s just the staple of beauty. Simply said.

💥people with asteroid juno-uranus can’t really imagine themselves settling down or getting married. I think this is mainly because they worry about getting bored or feeling confined.

💥people with asteroid fama-ascendant have an it factor. They just seem like they’re destined to be famous or known. People can feel they have some sort of dazzling purpose. These are the people that always feel like they’ve been destined for the spotlight.

💥people with chiron-uranus heal wounds by expressing their authentic self. Suppressing their authenticity is probably the worst thing they could do. Individuality is a big theme within this placement.

💥people with 11h sappho usually form bonds more easily with women or feminine figures. They tend to attract more women or more femininity towards them.

💥asteroid hygeia-mars people are very health orientated. They usually excercise consistently or they’re wary of what they eat. They often think about their general wellbeing and ways to be more healthy. This could also apply to hygeia in the 6h.

💥people with asteroid erato-ascendant are CHARMERS. If they have a libra rising it’s even more emphasised. But regardless, these people are very persuasive and they have a way of convincing people to do certain things. It can be used in a more manipulative way, so be careful to use this charm in a positive way. Their words are VERY powerful.

Asteroids - The Nine Muses

Hello everyone!

We are back today with an introductory post to our next series: The asteroids associated with the nine muses in Greek Mythology!

We wanted to give a little background on these by talking about their mythology overall, and make this a little landing page for these asteroids. Each of the muses is associated with a talent or gift of some sort, usually in the fine arts, and their asteroids are associated with the same gifts. Each muse is going to have a different post where we talk about the mythology behind the asteroid, as well as what it affects or indicates in someone's individual birth chart.

Mythology:

The nine muses are the beautiful daughters of Zeus, the ruler of the gods, and Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory. The story is that Zeus found Mnemosyne very attractive, and disguised himself as a human shepherd in order to lure her into sleeping with him. They slept together for nine consecutive nights, and each night they conceived one of the muses. They were all born in Pieria at the foot of Mount Olympus. It is said that Mnemosyne gave the babies to Apollo and a nymph named Eufime. Apollo raised them on Mount Parnassus, Helicon, or Elikonas. (It's debated where they actually resided between these three places). He taught them to express their talents in the arts, as he himself was a god who loved fine arts and music. They grew up to perform for, and entertian, the gods residing on Mount Olympus. In doing so they also were the ones who encouraged inspiration and imagination for many artists and scientists.

In other myths: The Muses are sometimes referred to as water nymphs, and there are some accounts of them having been born from the four sacred springs on Mount Helicon that appeared when Pegasus stomped his foot on the ground there.

The muses are known as the inspirational goddesses of literature, sciences, and the arts (including art, music, dancing, etc.) The etymology of the word "muse" has a meaning of desire, wish, or inspiration, and this word is also where we get the modern day "museum" from. (Which honestly makes sense you know...because museums have art and science in them.) Muses are seen, even today, as inspiration for artistic creation. That's why we have the term "my muse." They are also inspiration for the creation of many instruments, languages, and different types of writing and poetry.

The Nine Muses

Each of the muses was known for specific talents or gifts. The following is a really quick breakdown of each, but it doesn't include everything they are known for. (That info will be in each muse's individual asteroid post!)

The Boeotian Muses are the original muses in ancient Greece: Mneme (memory), Melete (thought, meditation), and Aoede (voice, song). Unfortunately, I could find only one asteroid named after them, Melete.

วิธีการอ่านโพสท์นี้คือ เราจะใส่ชื่อ Asteroid และตามด้วยรหัสของ Asteroid นั้นๆข้างหลัง ซึ่งสามารถนำไปใส่ในหมวด Additional Objects ของ Entended Chart Selection ของ Astro.com เพื่อหาตำแหน่งของ asteroid นั้นๆในพื้นดวงค่ะ

หลักการใช้ Asteroid

Asteroid จะมีผลมากที่สุดเมื่อทำมุมกุม (conjunction) ในระยะ 0 - 3 องศา ซึ่งจะแคบกว่าการทำมุมกุมโดยทั่วไปที่จะมีผลได้ถึงระยะ 0 - 8 องศาค่ะ แต่แน่นอนว่ายิ่งใกล้ก็ยิ่งเห็นผลกว่าค่ะ

สำหรับมุมอื่นๆ เช่น เล็ง(opposition) โยค(sextile) ตรีโกณ(trine) ฉาก (square) บางที่จะไม่นับมาคำนวณด้วยเลยค่ะเพราะถือว่าพลังงานน้อย ส่วนตัวเรายังให้อยู่นะคะ แต่ต้องอยู่ที่ระยะไม่เกิน 3 องศาเหมือนกัน ส่วนมุมยิบย่อยอื่นๆยิ่งไม่นับเลยค่ะ

ส่วนตัวแล้วเราคิดว่าพลังหรือผลลัพธ์ของ Asteroid นั้นจะเข้มข้นที่สุดหากทำมุมกุมกับ Sun, Moon, Ascendant, MC นะคะ ส่วน Personal Placement อื่นๆก็ไม่ใช่ว่าจะไม่ส่งผลเลย แต่อาจจะไม่เท่า Big 3 + MC ค่ะ ทำไมเราจึงให้ MC ด้วย เพราะ MC หรือ Midheaven หรือจุดกลางฟ้านี้ เป็นจุดที่คนอื่นจะสังเกตเห็นและจดจำเรา เป็นชื่อเสียง เป็นภาพจำ เป็นจุดที่เปิดเผยที่สุดใน natal chart พลังของ Asteroid ที่มาทำมุมด้วยจึงจะยิ่งเห็นได้ชัดค่ะ

Asteroid เป็น Cherry on top เป็นน้ำจิ้มที่ทำให้การอ่านชาร์ทสนุกและมีสีสันขึ้นนะคะ อย่างไรแล้วก็ควรต้องดูชาร์ทหลักดั้งเดิมเป็นหลักก่อนด้วย เพราะคนเราก็คงไม่ได้กินแค่น้ำจิ้มอย่��งเดียวเป็นอาหารหลักใช่ไหมคะ ฉันใดก็ฉันนั้นค่ะ
