Astielle is a free webnovel about the Starlight Hero (Minnow), her nemesis the Moonlight Monster (King Karzarul), and his nemesis the Sunlight Heir (Prince Leonas). It is an endless reincarnation cycle enemies-to-lovers speedrun and slow burn about trying to avoid the main quest by doing every possible sidequest instead. It's about trying to get your friend away from his shitty family and into your polycule instead. It is over 200k words, and almost 40k of them are a flashback to completely different characters thousands of years before the main story. A lot of readers tell me it is very funny, or that it made them cry. It was supposed to be PWP. It is a hot fucking mess in progress.

"If she wants to eat a rock," Leonas said, "there is nothing on this or any other plane of existence that I can do to stop her from eating the fucking rock."

Here's my attempt at a cover for Astielle by @unpretty, featuring Minnow and Karazul. The full cover with Leonas and how I made it can be found under the cut.

As suggested in an ask a while back, the front cover looks like a fairly standard romance except on closer inspection the male lead is a centaur. Then when you open it up, there's Leonas leaning against Karazul's lower half and staring off into space while he and Minnow have a moment.

This was made by compositing together a bunch of smaller images generated with Stable Diffusion. For the composition I started with "A Reclining Centaur and a Satyress in a Landscape" by Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo, sketching on top of that to block out the colors I wanted.

Because Stable Diffusion struggles to keep track when multiple people or objects are described at a time, I generated the landscape, sword, and each of the characters separately, copying in parts of the others to get them to line up correctly. Karazul had to be made in two parts for his upper and lower halves, because asking for a centaur just made horse heads appear everywhere. Leonas' witchmarks and jewelery and Minnow's hair streaks were added manually, as details like those are also challenging for current models.

i'm thinking i'm going to be making some changes to how memberships work on my site, specifically:

finally gonna upgrade my setup so i can enable coupon codes so that anyone who donates to my ko-fi or patreon gets site access, i should have done this ages ago but... i didn't.

i'll also see about giving coupons to anyone who sends me a tip through tumblr in case some people find that easier for some reason.

i'm going to up the monthly subscription cost to $2 a month because way too fucking much of $1 a month gets lost to fees. i get 57 cents of that. getting a notification from stripe that there's 57 cents on the way to my bank account is too fucking sad. i like having a minimal paywall but it just doesn't make any goddamn sense for me to be losing 43% of my income to fees before taxes.

annual subscriptions are going up to $15 a year for year one and once you renew it will only be $12. i still won't enable auto-renew by default because i still think that's scummy but maybe that's enough of a discount to incentivize not letting it lapse. i've lost a quarter of my subscribers since last year which makes sense because i haven't written shit but it's still depressing.

S5E19 “Hammer of the Gods” - I remember hearing J/ared P/adalecki was sick during this episode and you can sort of hear it in his voice. It’s subtle tho.

****S5E21 “Two Minutes to Midnight” - episode opens with Sam and Dean hunting for Pestilence, the fourth horseman of the apocalypse. As they get nearer to him they get sick, feeling faint, phlegmy coughing, etc. It’s honestly wild. But also (tw emeto other characters, not them)

S10E5 “Fan Fiction” - NOT a sick episode but I love this one. 10/10 recommend.
