ABOUT ME
Hello! I’m Skylar if you’re new to my page and I got my diploma in astrology from Kepler College (the #1 best astrology school in the world)
I’ve been studying astrology for over a decade now as well and these are the books I recommend
Tumblr media
☆ BEGINNER BOOKS ☆
The Only Astrology Book You’ll Ever Need by Joanna Woolfolk
Goes over all the basic information for beginners and has interpretations written in as well. In the beginning of the book it focuses a lot on Sun Signs but gives more insight on other placements later in the book don’t worry
Astrology for the Soul by Jan Spiller
Another great book for beginners. I like the interpretations
The Inner Sky by Steven Forrest
Written by a very renowned astrologer. He goes over signs, aspects, etc and breaks them all down really well
You were born for this by Chani Nicholas
I love how this book goes over how to use astrology in your daily life and isn’t just cookie cutter definitions of placements like many other books. It’s also interactive and you can write in some pages which is always fun. It’s one of my favorite books for beginners
Aspects in astrology by Sue Tompkins
This is a great book for people curious about what each aspect means and how they can manifest into your life
☆ INTERMEDIATE BOOKS ☆
Predictive Astrology by Michele Adler
This book is definitely worth the price. It gives lots of information on techniques you can use to make predictions in astrology. It’s based on Western Astrology
The Art of Predictive Astrology by Carol Rushmam
Another great predictive astro book that talks about how to make predictions based on transits in your chart
Medical Astrology by Judith Hill
This is a great book with information on body part astrology and medical information. Although I do want to note when reading this do not be afraid if you share one of the transits that the public figures mentioned had during their health issues arising as astrology is a polarity. Meaning you can take on positive traits rather than the challenging ones often
☆ ADVANCED BOOKS ☆
Asteroid Goddesses by Demetra George
Goes over all the major asteroids in astrology. This can help you a lot if you’re interested in learning basic information on asteroids
Planets in Composite by Robert Hand
There are not many books out there on Composite compatibility so out of all of them this is my favorite even though it’s very basic it’s still a good read if you’re learning about Composite charts
The Psychology of Astrocartography by Jim Lewis
This is the best book about astrocartography I’ve found so far and very informative. The only bad thing I have to say about this book is that the print is really small. It’s amazing other than that though
☆ OLD AGE ASTRO BOOKS ☆
Mastering Traditional Astrology by Mychal A. Brian
If you’re more interested in old age astrology then this is an amazing read. You can purchase it on Amazon
Astrology of the Tree by David Frawley
This is great for beginners in vedic astrology and goes over all the basics. Really anything by David Frolly is great if you want to learn about vedic
The Nakshatras; the Lunar Mansions of Vedic Astrology by Dennis Harness
It’s a short read and goes over all the meanings of all the nakshatras
Light on Relationships by Hart De
A very comprehensive read that goes over synastry in Indian astrology. It gives lots of interesting techniques that can give insight on future marriages as well
Mayan Calender Astrology by Kenneth Johnson
This is extremely hard to comprehend so don’t purchase if you’re new to astrology. Even I had to read it a few times to fully get it. It discusses the astrology that the egyptians wrote in their hieroglyphics
☆ BOOKS I STUDIED FOR MY DIPLOMA ☆ [these aren’t all of them just some of my faves]
Sky and Psyche; the relationship between cosmos and consciousness by Nicholas Campion and Patrick Curry
This is an extremely underrated book and one of my favorites by far. This book goes over not just meanings of the planets, houses, synastry aspects, etc but also why the planets manifest in certain ways
The planetarization of consciousness by Dane Rudhyar
This one isn’t a basic overview like the other books I’ve mentioned it’s more psychological type astrology which I found really interesting
History of western astrology volume 1 & 2 by Nicholas Campion
This goes over how astrology has been used throughout history and why it was used in the past
☆ OTHER ASTRO BOOKS ☆
Moonology by Yasmin Boland
This is a manifestation astrology book. It gives an amazing story about the authors life before using astrology and manifestation and how it impacted them. Great for learning how to manifest using the moon cycles and astrology
The Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes by Theodora Lau and Laura Lau
My favorite Chinese astrology book. There isn’t many good ones out there
Birth Time Rectification by Paul Manley
There are some things I would’ve added to this book that weren’t mentioned but other than that it’s pretty good in helping find the right birth times using vedic astrology

Hi!! I’ve been taking a break from social media! I’m back to share more astrology wiz with everyone.
But before I even get into anything, I’m gonna add some books and resources that have shaped my philosophy as an astrologer (and hopefully I can pin this to the top of my page because I’ve been getting so many messages in my absence about where I’ve learned my doctrine)
Tumblr media
1. Hellenistic astrology: The study of fate and fortune” by chris Brennan. This book will take you on a historical dive within astrology. You will learn some very useful and yet obscure ancient astrology techniques that kinda temporarily got shoved into oblivion by pop astrology.
2. On the heavenly spheres by Helena Avalar. Reading this book is what really convinced me to throw modern astrology out the window and helped me to see how “not helpful” it was. You will see how much pop astrology kind of alleviates the truth. Only get this book if you’re interested in why I have such a distain for some very questionable mainstream modern astrology information.
3. Astrology and the authentic self by Demetria George. I wanna say that this book was the very first one I read and it doesn’t prioritize the meanings of the signs. When you first get into traditional astrology you’re gonna think it’s so boring because you quickly realize that the signs get their meanings from the planets and not just from themselves. You’ll read things like “Aquarius: enemy of the sun, preferred domicile of saturn” etc. Something to take into consideration is also the amount of daylight and nighttime and that goes on during that signs time of the year, Hellenistic astrologers as I know now take meanings from that as well.
4. Ancient astrology in Theory and Practice: a manual l of traditional techniques. This book is volume one and 2.
5. The house, temples of the sky by Deborah houlding. I wanna say that this woman is my TEACHER and I LOVE this book because this book will introduce you to an ancient perspective of the houses, the very first interpretation of the houses. This book does NOT associate any of the signs with the houses as none of the ancient astrologers did and especially not the valens.
6. The astrology podcast. Go to to YouTube and search up “the astrology podcast planets” and just start writing things down. You can also type in “3 misconceptions of (insert any sign)” and Adam elenbaas will pop up, he is a certified Hellenistic astrology so prepare to learn things about your sign you never knew.
6. The most expensive resource would be to go to astrology school which is 1300$ dollars at nightlightastrology.com and is a whole course. After you get the certificate you can call yourself a “certified Hellenistic astrologer.” if this is your passion and something you wanna be doing in the long term I highly recommend.
Tumblr media
I wanna close this post out by saying that Hellenistic astrology is the oldest form of horoscopic astrology, it is the source, the OG and it is where everything we know about astrology today came from. Anything that was taken and misconstrued LITERALLY came from Hellenistic astrology.
Hope this helps xx

Where I Get (free) Astrology Books
The main go-to site for any book ever is u1lib.org
I have downloaded tons of books from here, and they are great. The only downside to free pdfs is navigation (you can't rely on the page numbers the book gives you). The site itself has a limit of 10 downloads daily with an account, but you can easily space these downloads out. There isn't much astrology content as I would like on this site, but it's still a great site. You can convert epub files (aka kindle files) to pdfs on the site which is necessary for accessing them on your computer. You can always use sites that convert epub to pdf too.
Likewise, looking up "Astrology books pdf" will yield some results. Another site I like is pdfdrive.com.
The biggest disclaimer I can make about these books is the age of the books. Bias is a real issue in everything, so astrology can't avoid this. For example, the book "Karmic Astrology: The Moon's Nodes and Reincarnation" by Martin Schulman insinuates that people with a Sagittarius south node were previously primitive people who need to assemble with society because they are uncouth. This book is from the 1970s, so he uses outdated terms like "Indian" when meaning "Native American".
Other than that, enjoy your time searching for books :)

Have you ever done a “top astrology books/blogs/sources” recommendation? If not, this is me kindly asking ❤️✨
You know, I tried to write this a while ago and I have a hard time recommending astrology resources because most of the really good ones are dated in certain ways and every author is problematic in the end...
So I want to trigger warning every single book which gets complicated and it overwhelms my ADHD brain so that I can't start.
But also:
What do you want to learn about astrology? It's a huge topic and depending on where you are on your journey, different books will be helpful or overwhelming. So be aware that I am not vetting these resources currently for being up to date on language, gender issues, etc.
If you are at the very beginning of your journey and need to know the most basic things: what are the signs, what are the aspects, what are the houses etc. you can't go wrong with The Only Astrology Book That You Will Ever Need by Joanna Martine Woolfolk. It's definitely NOT the only astrology book that you will ever need (lol) but it does break down the basics of creating a natal birth chart very well.
If you're a little bit more advanced and know the basics of birth charts but want to know what it all means, I'd check out Stephen Arroyo's Chart Interpretation Handbook.
Bonus books for learning about the difference in the individual signs include Sexual Astrology by Martine though I wouldn't recommend that to anybody who is sex or kink repulsed in any fashion. Also, keep in mind that most astrology books still focus on the male/female binary which people who are more genderqueer may find troubling.
Inner Planets: Building Blocks of Personal Reality by Liz Greene and Howard Sasportas is okaayyyyyy....I was personally pretty offended by Liz Greene's take on Venus energy (she seems obsessed with the Electra complex with is just a bit vom to me). The rest is really good though - especially the section on Mercury.
If you are ready to look into Synastry, you can move on to Person-to-Person Astrology: Energy Factors in Love, Sex, and Compatability by Stephen Arroyo which is A++++++.
From there astrology books start to get very specialized. I could recommend a bunch but it would be very dependent on your wanting to deep dive on something super specific.
Feel free to reach out and specify if I didn't cover what you were looking for. As for blogs or other things, I mostly don't follow those anymore so I can't recommend much for you there.

Book Launch | Real Life Astrology: The Planets in Signs
'Real Life Astrology: the Planets in Signs', is a comprehensive guide to the planets in each zodiac sign. I'm so pleased to have completed this major project! Now available in all good bookstores.
Real Life Astrology: The Planets in Signs is now published – and I am so happy about that. I started writing this book, what seems like an age ago – and it was an age ago. For most of the writing period, I had Saturn in the third house of my solar return chart – and yes, it does turn any ‘literary project’ into a long and arduous task. My aim of having it published last year slipped by the…

Back To Astrology Studies!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today I’m annotating the Scorpio chapter of “The Only Astrology Book You’ll Ever Need” by Joanna Martine Woolfolk. I love how she describes Scorpios as not a “specific set of consistent traits, but rather as beings of polarity and contradiction itself!” As a Scorpio, I can confirm this is true. -Velvet Rose 🌹

I seem to have written an astrology book?! ♐
Tumblr media
You know what’s awesome? Writing a book and getting it published.
Know what’s awesome-er? Getting the opportunity to write a book with one of your mentors.
I’ve had to hold in my squee about this for many months, but I’m super excited to finally tell you that I’m the second author on Sagittarius Witch, one of twelve books of the Witch’s Sun Sign Series written by Ivo Dominguez, Jr. and published by Llewellyn over the next year. The first few volumes are available now, and the Sagittarius volume will be released in April 2024.
Here’s the official description of the Sagittarius book:
Travel off the beaten path in both your daily life and magical practice with this book on maximizing the power of your Sun sign. Sharing numerous spells, exercises, recipes, and stories, Ivo Dominguez, Jr. and Enfys J. Book show you how to make your witchcraft greater than ever with Sagittarius energy. This book offers many ways to channel your natural tendencies into stronger magic, including Sagittarius correspondences, cleansing and shielding methods, self-care routines, and divination techniques.
When people ask what I wrote for the book, I basically sum it up as “Ivo wrote all the crunchy astrology bits, and I wrote several blog-style pieces about the lived experience of being a Sagittarius witch.” (Also, no pressure, but Ivo himself is a Sagittarius. So that wasn’t intimidating at all!)
About the Witch’s Sun Sign Series
The Witch’s Sun Sign Series, the brainchild of brilliant Llewellyn editor Elysia Gallo, is a unique and exciting project to be part of. Each book in the series is jointly written by Ivo Dominguez, Jr. and a witch of that particular sun sign, and includes several additional contributions from other witches of that sun sign. The Sagittarius volume includes contributions from Mama Gina, Donyelle Headington, Devin Hunter, Cosette Paneque, Michael G. Smith, Natalie Zaman, Dawn Aurora Hunt, and Sandra Kynes.
And these books are so pretty, too. The cover and interior design of each volume is lush, vibrant, and gorgeous, thanks to Llewellyn Art Director Shira Atakpu (who was also the cover designer for Queer Qabala!). Each book is accessibly-priced and presented in a friendly, giftable size. Consider getting one of these highly-personalized and extremely useful books for each of your witchy friends!
[Video description: A flip through “Aries Witch,” the first published volume in the Witch’s Sun Sign Series, showing its gorgeous cover and page design.]
I had a wonderful experience collaborating with Ivo and Elysia on this book, and am deeply honored to have been part of the project.
The book is available for pre-order, along with most of the other books in the series. Links are below!

Announcement
hi lovelies, so i’ve put together a guidebook, that can help you better understand how to navigate through each season, by working with the zodiac energies. we are all influenced by the movements and energies of the celestial bodies and once we are aware of how it influences our lives, we can live a life of balance and ease instead of struggling. I wrote ‘It’s YOUR Szn’ to inform you on how to move through life in harmony with the divine pattern, instead of against the tide.

Guys I always tell u to read astrology books and not get ur information from Tiktok and that is TRUE however, also be careful that you’re reading books from reliable astrologers and not just random people who don’t have any type of degree or certificate in astrology
A popular book that has lots of incorrect information and was not written by a real astrologer is “The Rulership Book” by Rex E. Bills. Please do not trust sources like this.
It says that Venus represents youth (it doesn’t mercury does), Uranus rules manipulation (when pluto does), Saturn rules over hair (when venus/libra do), the 12H represents obsessions (when the 8H does however the 12H can represent escapism with alcohol/drugs just not direct obsessions to people, obsessive tendencies, etc), and all sorts of other incorrect info
I’ve seen multiple Tumblr and Tiktok astrologers refer to it now so I wanted to clear this up

5 things that don't suck about Scorpio
5 things that don’t suck about Scorpio
Published in the Haven With Scorpio season a part of the past, I’m realizing there’s more to the fixed water sign than all that sucky brooding, pessimism, vengeance and possessiveness we often hear about. I mean, would you say Scorpios Pablo Picasso or Whoopi Goldberg suck? Uh, no. Picasso is a painting genius and Whoopi was in Sister Act (an Oscar-worthy movie, IMO). Still, artistry and…

elminx rambles #45798: astrology transits and life being very lifey
I am slowly working my way through A Lantern in the Dark: Navigating Life's Crossroads with Story, Ritual, & Sacred Astrology by Danielle Blackwood. The premise of the book is that through knowledge and ritual, an individual can learn to navigate the highly activating outer planetary aspects of life with (more) ease. It's something that aligns strongly with my personal life philosophies (stay aware and carry your light preserver) and my understanding of astrology.
The first part of the book is about the Saturn return which I lived through a long time ago but the second section is about the midlife aspects that can happen anywhere from years 36-48 depending on the movement of the planets. They are the Pluto square, the Neptune square, the Uranus opposition, and the Saturn opposition (as they are written in the book).
And...I am apparently going through three of them as we speak. Pluto square, Neptune square, and Uranus opposition.
Lol.
This is to say that even astrologers miss pretty big things when they are looking at charts. I was aware that I am approaching my Uranus opposition though mostly because I am approaching a conjunction between my Sun and Uranus. (I was born with a Sun-Uranus opposition in my chart) But the other two were completely under my radar.
And it explains a lot. I have been going through a MAJOR revelation of self, spirit, understanding of the universe and pretty much...everything...since 2017. This means that I'm actually handling these transits pretty well - this is what should be happening.
But anyways, yikes.
