CONTINUATION OF 'SOMETHING GOOD COMING'

Jon was browsing the horoscope app again.

"You don't really believe that stuff, right?" Marinette questioned.

"Yes." Jon answered.

"Why?" Damian asked.

"Sagittarius are sometimes opinionated, impatient, and detached, but they can also be passionate and inspiring." Jon spoke, "Doesn't that sound like Damian?"

"Actually, it does." Marinette stated.

Damian huffed, "What about yours?"

"My what?" Mari asked.

"What is your sign?" Jon questioned.

"I don't know." Marinette answered, "I've only followed the Chinese zodiac."

"When is your birthday?" Jon prodded.

"Late July." she stated.

"It says here, that you are a Leo." Jon continued.

"Is that a good thing?" she asked, looking confused to Damian.

"Well, your romance options are better than his." Jon chuckled.

"Explain." Damian growled.

Jon winced, "It says your crushes usually end up falling for your friends."

"I don't have friends." Damian replied, "I have people I tolerate." making Mari giggled.

"For Marinette," the half-alien continued, "it says lots of people have crushes on you."

Mari shrugged, "Except the people I like."

"What?" The Wayne heir asked, confused.

"There was Nathaniel, a guy who flirts with puns, a musician, two girls, and my own crushes' cousin." the designer sighed.

The boys just sat there in shock.

"Did you date any of them?" Jon asked.

"The musician for a month." she answered.

"Did he do something?" Damian pushed.

"No." Mari replied, "He was very sweet, but I was always busy."

Jon quickly changed the subject, sensing Mari become uncomfortable, "It says here, Damian wouldn't date because his mother said no."

"You have met my mother." Damian spoke, "You wanna go against her?"

"No." Jon declared.

"Then, it's not a lie." the ex-assassin stated.

Marinette giggled.

"She is the strictest woman I have ever met." Damian spoke.

Jon continued, "It says, here, that you fall for confidence."

Mari nodded, "I can sorta see that."

"What does mine say?" Damian questioned.

"It says you fall for cute smiles." Jon answered, gleefully.

"Well, that's bullshit." the Wayne heir declared, "I see a bunch of harpies smiling at men every time I go to galas."

Marinette patted his shoulder, hoping to comfort him. The bell rang, ending lunch. Mari stood up, waving at them, and left the table.

Jon leaned close to his best friend, "Were any of them cute? Did any of them make you think of their smile again, later?"

"No." Damian answered.

"Then it wasn't a cute smile." the half-alien answered, before leaving as well.

'Cute smile?'

Damian couldn't help, but think of Marinette's smile. Damian stood up quickly.

"Astrology is bullshit." he snapped and left.

Only the few people that were left, notice that his ears were tipped red.

Appalachian Witchcraft for Beginners: Review

This is: Appalachian Witchcraft for Beginners: The History, Remedies, and Spells of a Rich Folk Magic Tradition by Auburn Lily

Rating: 2/10

Pros: Some information presented is correct, like the information on “ingredients” isn’t too bad if not a super small amount of them, she mentioned red clay which a lot of books seem to forget exists. And this book’s aesthetics? 10/10 for the illustration work, colors, fonts! I also appreciated the insistence that you help the land as much as possible, as well as the land’s original inhabitants and to give Indigenous voices space.

Cons: There is so much I was so disappointed by. First off let’s get this out of the way: The author in her bio on her own website auburnlily.com claims she is a starseed. I have a LOT of personal feelings about the Starseed movement and how it damages the progress of mental health and getting help and medication for said mental disorders. But this should have been the first major red flag that this book would not be what it says on the cover.

A lot of my problems are as follows:

Most folk workers don’t use the same three or four ingredients…in this case:

Peppermint. Rose. Essential Oils. Crystals, usually citrine or black tourmaline.

Actually we tend to not use crystals at all unless we’ve adapted them into our practice ourselves…the old folk didn’t have pretty rocks to use they got at the New Age store in the town square, alright?

A LOT of this information is definitely tinged in a new age and modern light. The correspondences for the days of the week mentions “The Goddess” which we don’t…deal with??? At all??

Another example:

Grannies used to use the bible and ‘faith healing’ to avoid persecution from their community.

Absolutely not! She mentioned the witch trials a minimum of 6 times, which (ahaha good pun) almost made me roll my eyes into the back of my head, then I read the bible to avoid persecution part and almost burned the book on the spot.

Faith healing is NOT a cop out.

It was the way things WERE. Were there hexers? Yes. Were they given a wide berth sometimes? Also yes. But they also had their place in the community! The hexer in my family, Flossie, was respected with some fear, but she was also the person who scorned lovers and cheated on spouses went to. When the police were hounding moonshiners a few came to her for cop go away works.

The author also insinuates that Yarb Doctors were held in higher regard because they didn’t use faith/and or gender may have had a point in that. I dunno what yarb doctors and grannies she talked to but men were not allowed in the birthing room, that was a Granny’s responsibility and by god they did it well. You never backtalked a Granny, they were and are the backbones of their communities.

Now that I’m off that soapbox, the author also seems to believe that meditation, third eyes, astrology in a modern way, and crystals are critical for Appalachian witchcraft which is stupidly incorrect. Her recipe for floor wash is hogwash and far too simple and small, her candle color correspondences are laughable…especially that little line on Orange: “Helps with menstrual cramps.” If that was the case no straight woman in Tennessee would get cramps because they all wear orange at least once a week for their team.

She only uses Hoodoo like…3 times which is better than most authors so I supposed that’s progress? But the author also hates baneful work and makes mention of that fact numerous times.

The author also has quite a few love spells mentioned, and weirdly enough…a lot of her ingredients in OTHER spells are also the same ingredients in her love spells. How strange.

My final and most damning gripe, the author seems to believe that stereotypes make for amazing offerings to the ancestors. In particular…the Irish would appreciate offerings of potatoes. You have to be kidding me.

Overall: Yet another new age witch trying to make folk magic look far more complicated and fluffy than it is. I hated this so much. I didn't even touch the "Open the healing channel" and "Reparative Visualization" "SPELLS" she includes which sounds like absolute woowoo.

🥊.|my opinion on the moon signs as a leo moon.

just a little something while i get over the fact my work may have been stolen! el oh el! it’s been hard getting over and it hasn’t exactly been a fear until it happened, so please forgive me for not posting as often. DON’T STEAL OR REPOST MY SHIT.

just found out my bio dad is an aries moon.... 🧍n e ways we don’t really have a good connection, but he’d do anything for me, which is something i’ve noticed about aries moons. despite being a fire sign, aries is DEAD ASS loyal. they also give amazing advice (sometimes unsolicited) and WILL match your energy. the moon sign to do them all the way and make sure you do you. y’all are hot hot. pun intended. a lot of aries moons i’ve met, i would never guess that they were an aries moon. you usually don’t know until you’re up close and personal with them. in traditional astrology, scorpio and aries share a home planet: mars. i don’t think it’s too far-fetched to think that aries can be just as secretive as scorpio under all that intense energy. not really judgmental, but stays loyal and true to their beliefs.

taurus

🤨🤨 now.. i have never been attracted to taurus placements. like yeah they’re venusians also, but taurus placements and i just kind of mind my own. if i am attracted to someone with taurus placements, they usually have air placements to go with it. most of the time, when i don’t trust somebody, they usually have taurus placements. now, i don’t believe they aren’t trustworthy and me not trusting someone that happen to have taurus placements from the get-go is not me saying they’re bad. i just think it’s my 8H at play and my venus opp. them. but taurus MOONS are the most with-standing in their beliefs out of all the fixed moon signs. like even if they’re wrong, no they’re not 😋 you’re wrong 🙄 y’all care heavily for your family and LOVE spoiling them with your money. i know i can go to you if i need help with something because y’all are always so methodical in situations and give very straightforward advice. fun to gossip with, but they aren’t gossipers, they just share what they know with people they trust and in turn, i tell them everything i know.

🦗🦗🦗.... anyways. i am a leo moon 🤞🤞🤞 so hey, brethren. ummmmmmmmmm i think leo moons are pretty awesome. i love being a leo moon and i feel like i resonate with being a leo moon so much (moon dominance lol). HOWEVER.. most leo moons i’ve come into contact with ARE SO ANNOYING OH MY GOD. like the undeveloped ones i met can’t read the room, are too dramatic (like we all are, but there’s a time & place), attention seeking, and air-headed. i need need those leo moons to also know that just because someone gives you attention, doesn’t mean they’re nice or your friend. it’s okay to be nice to people, but don’t see everything with rose-colored glasses. i know there are awesome leo moons out there and i NEED to know y’all please i am so desperate here💔💔💔💔 i’ve been stuck with annoying ass leo moons all my life i am TIRED. all the leo moons i’ve met care so hard about everything. these aren’t the people you can pick fun at without saying jk. they’re incredibly well-meaning, but sometimes it doesn’t come across that way. despite my mixed feelings on all the leo moons i’ve met, i am still one of y’all. love y’all 😍 anyways! done with my rant. it’s very evident in someone’s facial features when they’re a leo moon. the eyes, nose, lips, hair, brows.. i just know it when i see it. real eyes realize real lies, you dig?? when developed properly, leo moons are SUCH influencers. it can be very subtly too. you just garner attention when you know your power and own it. that’s my advice for my fellow leo moons. the affirmation “i don’t chase, i attract” can be VERY helpful to all leo moons because no matter how developed you are, there will be some drive to chase after the attention of something. just sit there and own it. remember you’re literally royalty. all in all, leo moons are the most leo of the leo placements and DEFINITELY wear their heart of their sleeve.🤞 (also lmk if y’all get compliments on your hair and are super specific about who can deal with it. like, my hair isn’t my whole world, but i wouldn’t let anyone touch it unless it’s someone trying to fix a stray hair or someone who wants to play with it 😍)

🤨 why are y’all always so damn attracted to me 😒 the amount of virgo moons i have come in contact with in my life is so uncanny. i just guess it from the get-go whenever i meet someone new at this point 😭 to start off.. YOU NEED TO FUCKING STAND UP FOR YOURSELF‼️‼️ stop letting people talk over you and stop agreeing with someone’s way if you don’t want it. voice your opinion. you’re a mercury moon for god’s sake. don’t go with someone else’s flow if you’re gonna suffer through it or don’t want to. y’all are so sweet and care so much but don’t show it. you give insightful advice while at the same time realizing how the person will be happiest. you guys are the definition of subtle. you see things, but don’t acknowledge them, know something, but won’t say anything, and hear something, but won’t show it. always has insight on everything. however, your face shows visible disgust when there’s something happening that you ABSOLUTELY do not like. it’s so funny too 😭 to everyone with a virgo moon in their lives, you will NOT know everything about them. they’re full of surprises. my best friend brings up something random and crazy about her childhood and i’m like 😀😀 why didn’t you tell me..? she’s been my best friend for like 7 years too. The crab is one of nature's most spectacular yet enigmatic creatures. It has a rich history across the waters and beaches of Earth that goes all the way back to the Jurassic era, and is likely to continue well into the coming eons.

The earliest known crab is "Eocarcinus." Though many mistake this term for a species, it is in fact the given name of the first crab. Eocarcinus was born to James and Jennifer O'Decapod in 200,000,004 B.C.E. Expected to pursue a career in bottom-feeding, Eocarcinus instead decided to found the field of Cancer research. As no medical field existed at the time, Cancer referred strictly to the astrological variety. Eocarcinus first discovered the Crab Nebula, the Crab Pulsar, the Crab Quasar, and the Crab Galaxy.

Crabs following in Eocarcinus's footsteps, of which he had many owing to his numerous crab legs, have made incalculable contributions to both evolution and culinary arts.

As humankind developed, crabs attained a new status as "delicious." Humans ate every known type of crab, from the soft-shell crab, to the hard-shell crab, to the unix-shell crab, which I tried to come up with a joke for but couldn't even begin to understand what the hell this interface crap means in order to even make a pun. Interface like uh, enter-face because you eat it? I dunno I'm not a programmer.

Anyhow, the modern crab canon (cranon) consists of several thousand distinct species with their own unique life cycles, dimorphisms, and flavors. From the colossal coconut crab to the tiny pubic hair crab, to the exotic hairy crabs of the East Asian coasts to the festive cheerleader crab of American high school gym pools, the crab is enjoying a cultural renaissance as it has become synonymous with the death of colonial racist jerks, and various other memes.

This thrills the crab.

🎏 Spirituality is not just for humans. Pictured is Tama (たま), the famous stationmaster cat of Kishi Station in Japan, who after her death was enshrined in Shinto as a goddess of one of the local train lines she served. Every year, her successors still bring offerings to her shrine on the anniversary of her death...

Here are some deductions/speculations I have made about cats and astrology. I do not expect them to be accurate, they are just for fun! I am not a cat behaviorist, please do not use this as actual information about having a cat! However if you do wanna share your cat's chart or signs I may turn this into an actual thing lol 🍓

Pallas governs intuitive intelligence. In cats, this would have once meant hunting, but when with humans, this instinct translates to play ♡

🎏 cats with Pallas in aries are proactive. may always initiate play with their owners. up early and probably have a secret double life taking place entirely before their human is awake ♡

🎏 Pallas in taurus cats may have a lot of toys. they enjoy the physical world and tend to love their scratching post as well as lounging elegantly on the nearest sofa, piano, or windowsill ♡

🎏 Pallas in gemini cats are like gemini humans in that they show two sides. may be playful but can need lots of stimulation. quick to catch their cat toys but very soft and gentle with their hooman ♡

🎏 Pallas in cancer cats are very affectionate in play. may play and cuddle. enjoy playtime before bed or sharing their owner's space. A classic 'keyboard cat' who keeps you company while you work or study ♡
