The quote by Charles Bukowski, "—and when nobody wakes you up in the morning, and when nobody waits for you at night, and when you can do whatever you want. What do you call it, freedom or loneliness?"
Makes me think about Voldemort. Like, what would happen when he wins. What would happen after he has it all. What would happen then, when there is no familiar faces, there is no one who knew Tom Riddle, from that accursed orphanage. What would happen, when the people he knew end up becoming vestiges of the past, and even their family line doesn't last. What would he do then, with his endless life and nothing to look forward to?

Speaking as a complete Max Jagerman stan,, the way the fandom has completely butchered his character. Did we watch the same show where he has an established god complex making him believe he’s better than everyone else or ,,,

my very serious writing advice for people who are trying to write more morally complex characters is to stop caring about their morality and focus instead on their individual motivations
it’s hard to articulate exactly what I mean, but the essence of it is basically: when a character does a murder, not only do I not care about whether they’re justified in doing so, it’s straight-up irrelevant. a characters moral standing from some nebulous universal standard has no bearing on the plot or their interactions with other characters and has no use in the story for me as a writer. what does matter is why the character thought they were justified and then if it comes up to other characters, what they think about it.
you can obviously think about your characters’ morality but it’s not your job as a writer to interpret your stories for your readers and tell them how to judge your characters. your readers can see the evidence for themselves and draw their own conclusions. your job is just to understand why a character is motivated to act in a certain way and have it make sense
focusing on character motivations is a much more versatile framework than trying to give them specific personality traits or moral alignments, and frankly more useful to understand why a character would do a certain thing instead of just what they do. that way when something fucked up happens and your character starts acting differently, there’s an actual logical reason for it that isn’t you forcing characters to do things because it’s what’s required to make the plot go
when you write your characters with the understanding that people are not static and they act differently under different circumstances, complexity in character and morality follows naturally.

I saw a propaganda ad so
This is your reminder that yes COD is fiction and it’s fun to pretend that these characters would fall in love and do the things we write about but it is also propaganda. What is seen in the games is not real life and is glorified to prey on impressionable people.
Be mindful of what you consume.

hi guys time for me to devolve for a moment as i slowly come to realize the reason that i ship xenk yendar and edgin darvis is indeed because "macho alcoholic man who has nothing but jokes for days and a love for music" x "holy man who often gets confused over basic sayings who the protags end up needing in order for plans to fall into place" is startlingly familiar.

adding onto my last post (linked here), and maybe this is a hot take, but honestly:
homura taking madoka’s powers and rewriting the universe was a morally gray action. Not totally justifiable but also not totally irredeemable. She’s justified in the fact that if she hadn’t, kyubey probably would’ve used madoka in order to bring back the old magical girl system with witches. It’s not totally justifiable though because she goes against madoka’s wishes and desires.
“But madoka was lonely being a god.”
that’s correct. She was lonely and wasn’t fully happy being a god (displayed in the lyrics of the first ending). Even then though, she weighed her options and chose this one knowing what she would sacrifice. And objectively (key word being objectively. It does not matter how you view this scene this is what homura is objectively doing by taking Madoka’s powers) homura kinda invalidates that.
this isn’t something irredeemable on homura’s part but it does mean homura’s action is a very complex and a morally gray one that can’t just be boiled down to being a good thing or a bad thing. It’s a mix of both.
and even if homura’s action was an entirely good thing, homura’s action does nothing but prolong the inevitable. Her world is kinda falling at the seems, with how easy it was for madoka to nearly gain her memories back.
that doesn’t mean her actions are totally evil either. She didn’t do what she did to “have madoka for herself”. Frankly anyone who believes that that was any part of her motive to do what she did didn’t pay attention when watching the anime and movie. She does strongly (and I use strongly very heavily here lol) love madoka but she’s not a yandere who isolated madoka from those she loves to have her all to herself like some people act like she is.
It’s just…I really do wish people would understand that her actions as a whole and specifically in rebellion don’t need to be seen as exclusively a good or bad thing. In the some way as how I said in my previous post that homura just wanting to protect her loved but also doing some morally questionable actions aren’t as mutually exclusive as the pmmm fandom pretends they are.

Five characters I will defend as AroAce until my dying breath
5. Alastor
It's canon. But he's my least favorite because he eats people. :(
4. Wednesday Addams
The multiple versions of her make it harder to confidently say, but she is. That doesn't mean she isn't willing to have a relationship.
3. Daryl Dixon
I only watched a few seasons before giving up, but I swear the vibes are there. He's aroace and unbothered.
2. Bakugo Katsuki
Putting him at two would send him spiraling into a rage. But also he just is. I get no real sexual vibe. Just unchecked aggression.
1. Katniss Everdeen
I'm sorry, but the first-person POV in the books is so telling. I firmly believe she was content to be in a relationship, but she had no real drive for sex or romance. But she gave Peeta what she didn't mind to give. And he took what she was willing to give.
