Bucky hates parties.

There’s a lot of reasons to dislike Stark’s great big blowouts. First of all, the people. There’s usually way too many people for his frazzled brain, all in various degrees of drunk. That’s another thing, because it’s not like he can get trashed too. The noise drives him insane. He hates wearing suits. Steve won’t let him brandish a gun at the people who bother him. 

Worst part is, he can’t actually run away from the party because Steve will make disappointed faces at him. 

Steve’s very good at making him feel guilty.

“You’re that Winter Soldier guy,” a girl chirps at him delightedly. “What’s it like, being best friends with Captain America? Pretty cool, right?”

He stares her down until she gets uncomfortable and walks away.

The bartender he’s lingering by passes a drink over to him silently. Bucky offers a nod of thanks and then downs the lot in one go. It doesn’t even burn the way it used to. He refrains from sighing at the crowds. 

He notices Barton heading for him a few minutes later, is about to start glaring again when he sees the strain in Clint’s smile, the way he’s holding himself stiffly as he stops in front of Bucky. 

“Hi there, honey,” Clint says with that same slightly pained smile, leans in and presses his mouth to the corner of Bucky’s. Bucky’s too startled to do anything other than stare. What the fuck?

Clint taps his chest to turn his attention down slightly and then starts signing between them quickly. Please go with it, I told him I was taken and you’re the only one around.

Huh. It’s not a dream like the ones Bucky’s been having recently, then. Usually in those Clint just pushes him down on the bed without any sort of explanation. Bucky glances up and sees a man watching them. When he notices Bucky’s stare he scowls.

Just pretend to be my date, Clint signs at him when he looks back. He’s getting handsy and I want him to back off without breaking his fingers.

I could break his fingers for you, Bucky signs back.

Clint snorts. We’re trying to avoid physical harm, Barnes.

Bucky glances back at the guy. He’s still staring like he’s waiting for a show. Clint’s chewing on his lip, looking nervous and awkward and Bucky kind of wants to kiss the anxiety off of his face, same as always, except now he has a convenient excuse to do so.

Maybe Stark’s parties aren’t that bad after all.

made up fic title: of cats and crushes

This is definitely a modern, non-powered AU where Clint works at/owns some kind pet adoption shelter situation.

Bucky is a vet, struggling with re-integrating into civilian life and with his disability.  For some reason… maybe because he’s lonely? his therapist suggests it? He’s walking by the building and makes a spur-of-the mom-

Bucky walks by this pet adoption shop on his commute every day, but one day as he is walking by something happens that triggers him, and he either goes inside or Clint coaxes him off the street and the next thing Bucky knows he’s in the back room of the shop being used as a climbing tree for a bunch of freshly-acquired kittens. 

And he keeps going back.

First for the kittens, then for the disaster shop owner who gets into a fight with the tracksuit mafia over a one-eyed dog and rescues actual kittens from actual trees and teaches archery as a side-gig because pet adoption doesn’t actually turn a profit, and eventually because he’s hopelessly in love. 

Clint was in love before Bucky ever walked in the door.

political compass is a thing tho and that can have 2 axes but in mainstream politics that only 2 of those are prominent - right libertarian and left authoritarian

there’s a false dichotomy and association between liberal governments and personal freedom vs leftist government and authoritarianism

liberal governments are profoundly violent and police and military heavy wherease socialist states are more likely to tolerate pacifist protest without sending the dogs to chase them away. for examples look at european socialist countries or even latin american ones and contrast them with america or other liberal countries  

to say that liberalism is unattached to violence and authoritarianism is false and misleading. you can’t have a liberal government without a police state.

bc of your ask abt shipping 13/yaz i've finally figured out what bothered me abt yaz. i think she's really great and has some rly good potential but she's 19. it's good to be ambitious but at 19 you're barely out of school, ofc you're not going to be in charge of the police, it's a miracle she's graduated a police academy type of thing already. her frustrations would make a lot more sense if she was around 25/30

Right? That’s what I’m saying! I mean, she does not give off the 19-year-old vibe AT ALL. She’s disappointed that she’s only on parking duty despite still being on probation and that doesn’t make sense. (First year officers have a probation period.) It honestly felt like she’d been on the job for a couple years and is maybe 25 or 26. Unhappy with her station, and the lack of mobility in her career.

But no. 

There’s a police academy which takes 6 months to graduate from, so if she applied at exactly 18, she’d have started working at 18 ½. Realistically, she’s only been on duty for 6 months or so. 

There are definitely ambitious young people who are incredibly goal-oriented, and it’s actually quite refreshing to see someone so young like that, but it did not come off that way in the story. Only in retrospect. And it continues to throw me off. I don’t think Yaz’s maturity, emotional openness, ambition, hopefulness, and confidence, etc. is a bad thing, on the contrary, it’s freaking magical. It’s really really something for younger people to aspire to when they’re 19. So that’s great. But I think, as someone who is older, it’s hard to picture and believe she’s 19.

Ryan on the other hand acts like a typical 19-year-old. LOL

Yeah that’s what I’ve been struggling with, I figure I could write someone kind of OOC but can’t even think of who that would be. I could see Kate’s dad forcing her to marry someone, but I think he’d go for a richer man.

Okay, so I did two for the memes because my verdict on Winterhawk is that they always have two entirely different views on their relationship regardless of what fic it is. So I imagine Bucky sees his relationship with Clint as this (he thinks he’s Gordon Ramsay, but they’re both idiot sandwiches. He’s just as dumb as Clint is):

Clint is a slightly more obvious romantic when it comes down to it and he sees them as April and Andy from Parks and Rec, which is where I supply this example - really any April and Andy quote would work:

for the Five Headcanons Meme!

Call it What You Want To was a delightful fic I wrote for @claraxbarton‘s birthday, and I enjoyed the hell out of accidental sugar daddy Clint and fiesty millennial Bucky.  

Without further ado, my headcanons:

1. It’s hard to work into the fic without making it weird, but Clint just throws money at Bucky’s problems.  Metro cards, starbucks cards, Venmo, UberEats, grocery delivery, like whatever Bucky mentioned he has issues with Clint just makes it rain.  But like, discreetly.  He didn’t set out to make Bucky a sugarbaby, the sugardaddy life just happened to him, okay.

2. Natasha absolutely set the whole thing up from the moment she heard Bucky needed a place to stay and knew Clit had one. 

3. Bucky knows Sam through a photography project he did after the Invasion of New York, where he took photos of the damages and the victims, and later did a follow-up piece on how the whole city has PTSD. 

4. Bucky does eventually re-do Steve’s social media page, but only because it’s so painfully ‘gosh golly gee’ and Steve is not that. 

5. The end of the fic was meant to be Bucky presenting his grad school thesis project on the Avengers and how they often save the city but at what cost, along with a proposal for another facility - and when Tony finds out about it he is absolutely on board and basically Bucky gets to say he ‘convinced’ the Avengers to move their facility to a safer place, and he gets his closure on the Avengers hatred and Sam gets to tease him forever his relationship with Clint and how he used it to convince everyone he was right.
