ATLA Characters as things my friends and I have said It's been a while, but I'm back, with even crazier quotes from my friends and me (some of us may or may not need mental help :D)

Sokka: Violence and bread-induced death is key. Mai: Then you can stab someone, but in an aesthetic way. Katara: We all have our own ways of doing things... Sokka: Are you saying the chicken does, or are you insinuating that my method was too violent? Katara:...I'm saying your method was too violent. Sokka: Well the chicken wasn't going into the coop, so I had no other option but to forcefully yeet the chicken into the coop! Katara: You wanna go down to the river to pray? Okay, you can stay in the river, forever. Aang: You sure do say bleep a lot. Zuko: It's the bleeping muppets, there are bleeping families watching! Katara: Why are we discussing drugs? Toph: If I were God... Sokka: Most people don't start a sentence like that, but please continue. Aang: I myself also defy gravity and logic at times. Toph: Don't worry Katara, I've never gotten drunk off vanilla extract before. Aang: Ohh, I was thinking there was a philosophical meaning there. Zuko: Nope. People just die. Aang: You know how they say, like, your worst enemy is yourself, or how they talk about your inner demons and stuff? Zuko: Pretty sure most of my demons are other people, but okay. Zuko: When I grill chickens, I mean business. *said while gazing at the bonfire he'd just chucked a bunch of chicken corpses on* Katara: CHAINSAWS WERE INVENTED FOR CHILDBIRTH??? Toph: Wait, isn't cocaine explosive? Katara: Sokka, everyone has their trials in life. Sokka: Yeah, and some people just are trials. Zuko: Traumatizing friends is a no-no. Aang: I think he's saying you poisoned the lemonade. Sokka: Hey Zuko…If I fed my cow lead and formaldehyde, would you eat its meat? Toph: Some people need a little violence in their lives, and I’m more than happy to provide it. Aang: If you drank enough olive oil, would it kill you? Sokka: I don't know...wanna find out? Toph: No, that's called the power of violence.

Zuko Fanfics are the Best ATLA Fanfics!

I love Zuko. Aang and the others are amazing too, don't doubt that. But there is something about Zuko that makes me love his character over all the others. Part of the reason is that Zuko fanfic ideas are so diverse! Here are some of my favorites:

Avatar Zuko

Zuko did not join Azula in Ba Sing Se

Agni favors Zuko

Zuko joins the Gaang early

Zuko has special firebending powers

Azulon makes Zuko Iroh's heir

Zuko as a sun warrior

Hakoda adopts Zuko

Zuko gets a pet dragon

Water tribe Zuko

That's all I can remember right now but Zuko is amazing. Looking on AO3 or fanfiction.net, no other character inspires so many canon divergences or AUs like Zuko from what I have seen.

More reasons why Zuko being the Firelord is objectively the funniest thing on earth:

HES SEVENTEEN

He hasn’t been civilised in 4 years, his entire teenage experience consists of living on a boat and sleeping rough. The most stable bed he has was probably in Ba Sing Se he probably will just nap anywhere.

He has customer service experience which means he probably uses his customer service voice on his minsters.

Additionally he probably just wanders into to kitchen to get his own snacks and tea because he forgets what servants do.

He probably has no idea why he can’t just chase after an assassin he used to hunt the avatar for Agnis sake why is the captain of the guard demanding he stay in his room he’ll find the guy first (he’s probably right)

Katara probably has a free pass on Eco terrorism because what’s he going to do challenge her, she’ll beat his ass.

If he saw a minster doing something shady he will either invite lady Beifong to detect their BS or commit B&E and look for evidence himself.

He somehow found a baby dragon and raises it.

He will be far to willing to give Kyoshi island anything they want cause he feels bad and Suki scares him.

He randomly insisted on giving some earth kingdom village 100 ostrich horses.

The Avatar will just show up call him Hotman and demand the go on adventures and the Firelord will just dip because he’s been confined to long and has the Zoomies.

He takes far to much advice from Sokka and will genuinely believe if someone doesn’t get Sokkas plans they must be an idiot because Sokka is 16.

Sokka and Zuko also get into a lot of teenage rebellion phases by accident.

Toph just walks in breaks a wall of his palace and demands a field trip that always involves the Firelord having to explain himself to the cops.

He somehow knows every dangerous teen in the world and they all come for tea uninvited.

He has broken into both the NWT and Ba Sing Se.

He has a really well documented facial scar and official portraits but still disappears to be Lee the tea guy like no one knows.

HES SEVENTEEN.

best thing about uncle iroh is that if you pay attention he is actually just as much of an idiot as zuko but has just mastered the art of coming across as a wise old man. the even better thing is that zuko is the only one on the planet who somewhat realizes this and no one would ever believe him because he's zuko

There is only one way to make a truly wonderful Avatar adaptation, not matter how bad it turns out to be:

A professionally shot, full length stage production of the Ember Island Players' Fire Nation propaganda version of the events

#avatar the last airbender #Atla #Think about it! It has no downsides!#There's only a few scenes that are fleshed out in the show so they can reference or fully do those and expand elsewhere #Even if the scenes are done poorly of course they are #Bad casting choices? Typical of the EIP!#The only casting choice that matters is the biggest buffest dude for Toph #There could be a behind the scenes feature during the intermission to show all the special effects #And there could be character cameos but not anywhere close to the camera so they are vague figures in the background

I love how despite not being a bender, Sokka is the biggest embodiment of everything the Water Tribe values in the show, both good and bad.

Change. Sokka who humbled himself when the Kyoshi warriors proved him wrong and took their teachings to heart. Sokka who always had a plan, a few hundred backup plans, and could still get out of a sticky situation on the fly. Sokka whose friends became bored and aimless without his quick wit and initiative.

Kindness. Sokka who went to save Aang before Katara even had to ask him to. Sokka who saw the humanity in an old man from the fire nation. Sokka who gave Jet a second chance despite being the first one to be suspicious of him. Sokka who showed Zuko to his room and held no resentment against him. Sokka who shielded Toph from falling debris with his body.

Ingenuity. Sokka who invented airships and submarines. Sokka who took down the drill. Sokka who broke into a Fire Nation prison rig and out of the highest security prison in the country. Sokka who levelled Ozai’s entire sky fleet in one tactical manoeuvre.

Love. Sokka who couldn’t remember his mother’s face but carries the grief of her death so deeply that he protects every woman he meets with the same unhealthy hypervigilance. Sokka who instinctually jumps to defend his sister despite their constant bickering.

Community. Sokka who gave up his childhood to become the sole protector of his village and dedicated his time to training the younger boys in combat. Sokka who learned to let go of his hypervigilance and put his trust in the people he’a afraid of losing so they can protect him like he protects them. Sokka who stood alone guarding the gates of his home as Zuko’s ship towered over them.
