Liveblogging atots episode 10!
1/4
Hahaha I hate how everything is making me feel like this is sad and not gonna end happy I am very nervous...
Dangling P'Aof over a shark tank in case this turns out bad. The kids are crying and I am loosening my grip on P'Aof's rope as we speak. Khaoneung has been crying in the background this whole time...
Khamaaaaaaa
Phupha... this is not the man you are, where are you? 😭😭
Tian's whole face is tears, this is very relatable. P'Aof getting closer to the sharks.
2/4
Wearing the ring 🥺 writing to Phupha 🥺
I love so much how Chief has such a strict persona until he gets teased and he's suddenly the youngest brother of the group.
At this point Tian has had like 6 life threatening things happen to him, at some point his mother's gonna have to accept that he's gonna do what he wants bc life is short. Between this and Bad Buddy it feels like P'Aof's general theme is "your parents are trying but at some point you have to live for yourself, hopefully with their blessing but that's not always viable".
3/4
Really thought mum was gonna do a solid and be like "the university is in Chiang Mai". I could not be more wrong.
Go to the wedding!! Wear your fuck-me jeans even! Get railed and have your own dog howling night!
Daaaamn his wife is gorgeous and he's looking at other women??? Dr. Nam... pls
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.... NO GO TALK TO HIM
He made him a coffee 🥺 tbh these coffees look chronic but whatever floats your boat and pays for gay romance dramas.
4/4
Genuinely barked a laugh at Tul being like "sexy foreign men? 😏😏"
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Gays are so dramatic and I feel so called out by this show bc everything that feels dramatic I'm like "yeah, I would do that too though".
Mama's in for a surprise I guess. Dad knows. TUL BEST BOY.
(I am gonna rewatch this forehead kiss appropriately 12 million times before I can move on to the next scene)
The second half of this segment better be the sappiest shit I ever saw.
Ah, it's already adorable. Much like the children I am very entertained by the sock puppets.
"Stay with me" "I can't hear you, say it louder" Yesss tease him! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
For a sec there I wasn't sure we were gonna get a kiss and P'Aof's toes were in the shark tank but delightfully I have been able to release him back in the wilds of the GMMTV production lot.
Phupha is such a giant puppy of a man. He is unbearably cute when begging. He's also topless after Yod checks on them, good for them, it's taken long enough, I hope they have many nights of wild passion etc etc.
Started this at midnight, its now 2:30am, that's how long it's taken me bc I'm rewatching everything so much.
So now that it's over what do I do? That was so sweet and I've loved watching it over the last week, especially getting to see other people also be hyped about it, was so fun! Thanks @smittenskitten for hosting this rewatch/ watch-along!

HYPERBOLIC SPOILERS FOR THE PHENOMENAL SECOND EPISODE OF OS2 x BBS x ATOTS
Can I feel so much in just one sitting?! Besides the UTTER giddiness of yesterday’s episode, at least for today, I think I have some actual, sensible, legible analysis to offer. I’m really moved, almost to tears.
I mean, as I blogged just a few minutes ago, part 4/4 of this second episode WILL go down in history in my heart as OBVIOUSLY some of the BEST, most STUNNING content in the HISTORY of anatomical and muscular analysis filmmaking. Yes.
I’m seeing on Twitter some grumpiness for the comedy of this all (the girlies want more woop woop?! I mean?!), but I seriously think this whole crossover set up and the way it’s been written is brilliant. And I don’t think this is just for fun.
But first, regarding the comedy and some other one-off points -- I mean, I knew that all four of these guys would be great, but their comedic TIMING, with the writing, is spectacular. They clearly had a FANTASTIC time filming this, and you can see it -- while they didn’t have much time to actually film it, it’s so well done.
I really want to call it, I really want to see it, I wanna see more subverting of the ships, and I wanna see these guys do more with each other separately -- I’m excited to see the implications of OhmEarth and NanonMix next week, and I think that Aof might be making a huge point by separating these guys, pairing them up together with others, and mixing shit up, because that’s what he does (especially while I have He’s Coming to Me on the mind soon on my OGMMTVC watchlist).
Another one-off point: like I wrote yesterday, we’re getting a double-dose of nostalgia, and I also wrote that I haven’t had to wait NEARLY as long as most of y’all for the return of BBS and ATOTS. But that being said, even though I only watched ATOTS last fall, I actually literally nearly cried when I saw the ATOTS flashbacks and heard the music. Because the way that show was designed in 2021 (I got so much OGMMTVC on my mind) -- those motifs WERE designed to imprint themselves in our memories as remarkable for a kind of cinematic, bildungsroman BL that we weren’t used to seeing back then. That show was nostalgic not JUST for the damn ship, but for Pha Pun Dao, for Chiang Mai, for the Thailand that Aof celebrates vis à vis EarthMix in ATOTS and Moonlight Chicken.
It’s gorgeous, and he knows what he’s doing by putting PatPran in that mix -- another couple at a different stage of their relationship, with a background and shared struggles that are different than TianPhupha’s, but that still offer both freshness AND nostalgia to the backbone story of ATOTS.
What’s moving me about these first two episodes reflects on what I just wrote -- this is no longer a story about Bad Buddy or ATOTS. This is a story about two couples going through their shit. Pat and Pran have ALWAYS been about going through their shit. We went through a A LOT of SHIT with them, including forward flashes after they graduated and seeing how they were faring in their long-distance relationship.
Remember: we haven’t spent ANY time with Tian and Phupha in their relationship yet, ABSOLUTELY NONE. They smooched once on the hill, we saw them cuddle, and Oishii sent us off. So we’re JUST finding out, NOW, how they’re faring, and we get thrown in a fight.
A fight that’s similar to the kinds of struggles that Pat and Pran have already shown us and are showing us now. Tian wants Phupha to see a slice of HIS life in Bangkok. Tian wants Phupha to yield a little, to stop being so stubborn.
Pat wants Pran to open up more. Pat KNOWS why Pran keeps everything so close to the chest. Pat is SO USED to being the balancing effect of their relationship, to push forward, to pull back, but to ALWAYS HOLD PRAN DOWN AND REMAIN AS PRAN’S ROCK, because Pran has not had the same kind of large family structure as Pat could rely on in his childhood and doesn’t know how to take emotional risks. Pat knows this and works hard on balancing it out.
But Pat can go overboard, right, and that’s partly why Pran drove away to Pha Pun Dao -- to prove to himself that he could complete this project on his own, but also, flirtingly, knowing that Pat would ultimately be by his side, and to play the competitive games that these guys always play with each other, because they’re still college dudes with bones to pick.
What we’re seeing is BOTH COUPLES FINDING THEMSELVES IN THEIR MATURING GROWTH STAGES OF THEIR RELATIONSHIPS.
Hello, mic check, there’s something happening here in Our Skyy 2. WHAT HAPPENED IN THE ECLIPSE EPISODES?
Same damn thing, the same damn thing that pissed the girlies off before. WE’RE SEEING AWLLLLLL THESE GUYS IN THE GROWTH STAGES OF THEIR RELATIONSHIPS. Akk was frustrated by all the expressions of care that Ayan is overabundant with. Ayan WANTS Akk to RECEIVE the care, because the RECEPTION OF CARE IS the signal, the trigger, the MEANING of the relationship for Ayan -- it tells Ayan, when I care for you, Akk, I AM SHOWING YOU MY LOVE FOR YOU, and that’s how *I* DEMONSTRATE IT.
Tian: Phupha, come with me to Bangkok.
Pran: Pat, let me do this by myself.
Akk: Ayan, I don’t need as much care as you’re giving me, it’s too much.
Phupha: You’re making only about me being madly in love with you.
Pat: I want to help you, my boyfriend.
Ayan: This is how I show my love for you, Akk.
Y’all. Aof, Golf, these filmmakers. QUEER RELATIONSHIPS ARE RELATIONSHIPS THAT DESERVE THE INVESTMENT AND RESPECT OF EMOTION AND GROWTH IN ART. Not all queer art/BLs need to be about the thrills and frills of the first kiss, of the first sex, of the first whatever. We’re expecting these guys to live together forever in fiction, right? Aof and Golf and the other homies are saying -- kk, girlies, we’ll give you the fan service, alright, but we’re going to show you HOW WE, AS THE QUEER COMMUNITY, DURING PRIDE, GET THERE IN OUR OWN RELATIONSHIPS, TOO, messy details and all. Shit.
Here’s something from reality. I’m the youngest girl of my Indian family -- I was not equal to my older siblings at all, expected to fail, treated as if I didn’t know how to function in society. Y’all can predict what happened. Your gal got a great career, a great family, a husband, the whole thing.
So when I first met my husband, I’m riding my life on my own -- paying my own rent, my own bills, everything. I had already proved I didn’t need my birth family for anything.
But what I didn’t consider during those first years of the relationship was the following: my future husband’s love language was dependence. He was certainly IMPRESSED by dating a woman who had her shit together. BUT. He WANTED me to DEPEND on him, AT LEAST emotionally, if not for other things. I wasn’t going to like, quit my job for a relationship, but -- I was ALSO having REAL trouble DEPENDING on him emotionally.
Like Pran, maybe. I didn’t trust trusting anyone emotionally, because that was a paradigm already created by my family in my upbringing. I had TRAINED myself to NOT need emotional feedback from ANYONE romantically, because I learned to survive in other ways.
Of course, with great communication AND TIME (TIME), I came around and learned to lean on him and trust him.
Aof and Golf are giving their couples the benefits of growth and time to make the relationships better, and stronger, and working, and functioning, and I can’t emphasize enough how REAL THIS IS.
That’s what these episodes are giving me. I WANT TO SEE MORE BLs with established relationships (@bengiyo, @lurkingshan, @wen-kexing-apologist: WHAT DID YOU EAT YESTERDAY FTW). I want to see contextual heartache. I want to see fights. I want to see tears. I want to see snottiness and shittiness and passive aggression, because all of that is worth examining in human emotional art.
That’s real, that’s worth reflecting in art, and I see Aof and Golf doing this on purpose to give RESPECT to the emotional structures that they’ve created in their work.
I’m having so much fucking fun with these episodes, but I should have expected this, I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN, that Aof would already render me an emotional mess as well. It always happens. That it’s happening to our BELOVED COUPLES, AT THE START OF PRIDE, I’m just like. We’re just so blessed to have this art to enjoy.

Currently Watching - May
Because I love a good little list - in alphabetical order! 😊
Regularly updated during the month, latest update 30.05.2023
Here you can find my weekly roundup that goes into a bit more detail about each episode.
And a little link to my favorite bl-tropes-collection 💙
This may contain spoilers!
1. Be My Favorite (1/10 on Youtube)
Well...It had some funny parts, but right now I can't imagine how Kawi and Pisaeng get together...I mean Kawi is so head over heels for the girl...But as I said, there are some really funny moments and I had a good laugh.
2. Bokura no Shokutaku aka Our Dining Table (8/10 on Gaga)
Hozumi Yutaka likes to cook and is good at it, but he can't eat infront of other people. Meeting Tane and his older brother Ueda Minoru his life seems to change and he may finally have found what his body and soul were longing for. A true comfort watch right now.
3. La Pluie (5/12 on iQiyi)
Saengtai goes deaf whenever it rains. The only voice he can hear in his head is his soulmate's one. But he refuses to answer it, because Tai doesn't believe in things like love or soulmates. That is until he meets his soulmate for the first time. It is surprisingly good and I am looking forward to this one.
4. My Story (7/10 on Youtube)
Every now and than I like to watch a pinoy-bl. The first episode was a mess and a bit boring, but I have a strong second-lead-syndrome! I love the secondary couple and they just slept together in one bed, but that was so cute! Looking forward to the next episodes!
5. Our Skyy 2 (12/16 on Youtube)
Can I be honest? This isn't my cup of tea...I still watch it, because I hope the next episodes are better, especially the ones I am hoping for (MSP + ATOTS). But most of the dialogues are cringy and cheesy and the stories are...weird or boring. MSP was really good though.
6. Sparks Camp (1/? on Youtube)
Philippines's first gay dating reality show! And it's giving you everything you're looking for! Well at least a bunch of cute and cringy moments! And I am sold!
7. Step by Step (6/10 on Gaga)
Employee meets boss without knowing who he has met and crushes hard on him, just tells him what everyone thinks about the new boss and is just adorably clumsy infront of him. I adore the friend group! I hope we get to see them support Pat a lot. The second episode...difficult for me.
8. The Day I Loved You (9/10 on Youtube)
Go watch this! It is such a good show! So great. I love it so much. I was hit by tthis series with a sledgehammer. Not just how good the production is or the acting, but the theme and plot. Damn! So good. And I can relate to this a little bit too much, but I still love it. Just watch it!
9. The Luminous Solution (1/6 on Gaga)
Every wish comes with a price...We meet Thana and Patis, a couple of over a decade. While Thana tries to holds closeness to his partner, Patis is working non stop at the hospital and doesn't see, that his partner is suffering. And now Thana lost his job and his mother is in depth. One evening he enters a very special café, which only shows itsself to people who are in deep need for a wish. But can you pay the price? As a second couple we meet Mai and Ryou, who become enemies on the first day of school and who will have some obstacles to overcome to be together. And there is Ryous best friend, I guess he has a huge crush on Ryou. How they will end up in the café? I don't know, but I am intrigued.
10. Zenra Meshi aka Naked Dining - Love, Life and Liberation (7/12 on Gaga)
Everybody has their own way to release stress. Ichijo Futa eats naked. When he goes to his dead grandmother's house, he meets Miki Mahiro, who finds out about his eating preference. I guess it is a series about understanding what is really important in life.
Finished in May
Series
Tin Tem Jai (on Gaga)
They say if you don't have anything nice to say, just keep your mouth shut…That's my motto about the series. I really didn't like it that much. 2 out of 10 for me
2. Happy Merry Ending (8/8 on Gaga)
As often with korean bls, this one was soooo short! Just 15 minutes per episode. But it was a good. We meet SeungJun and JaeHyun and when they meet there is not a question left that those two like each other. A wedding singer and a pianist. A wedding singer with social anxienty and trauma. I really enjoyed this drama. A good 9 out of 10 for me.
3. A Boss and A Babe (12/12 on Youtube)
I wasn't a big fan of ForceBook after watching Enchanté, but I think it works in this drama. Cher is getting an internship at a gaming company. In his free time he runs an ASMR channel and the boss is a big fan of his voice (a thing I can't understand) and they start talking in the evenings so Gun, the boss, can finally manage to fall asleep. And then they can start to fall for each other. Most of the times I liked this drama, but it has some flaws. So a solid 7,5 out of 10 for me.
4. My Esports Genius Brother (12/12 on Gaga)
Jiang YiFeng can't feel physical touch, emotions or anything else, he can't taste and he doesn't see colors, which makes him super focused and an exellent gamer. That is until he meets Lu Lin, an idol with too much of everything, especially the potential of becoming violent. YiFeng helps him to calm down and thanks to Lu Lin YiFeng can see colors, taste food and experience the whole palette of emotions. A romance blossoms between these two against all odds and even though it is a chinese censored drama with some almost kisses (the scenes were horrible cut) and a sweet confession scene, we can feel the attraction between these two. I really liked. Just wished it would be a little bit longer! 5 minutes per episode was just a little bit short. But nevertheless sweet. 7,5 out of 10 for me.
5. The Promise (10/10 on WeTV + Youtube)
Okay, I loved it in the beginning. I thought it was a really good drama. But after a while it got repetetive and boring. I wished Nan just got together with Party, because Phu just could get his head out of his own ass. I was really angry at him at times. And there was so much unnecessary drama, especially in the last two episodes. It was just too much. Just a 6,5 out of 10 for me in the end.
6. Watashi to Otto to Otto no Kareshi aka Me, My Husband And My Husband's Boyfriend (4/10 on gaga)
Misaki is married to Yuuki. She nows something is off, because he doesn't really have interest in getting sexual with her. On the day before their wedding anniversary she sees him kissing a man infront of their home. It is her former student Shyuuhei, who also has a crush on her. Now they have to find a way to deal with everything. And their solution...I don't really get in the end. It is kind of an open ending, which is totally fine, but the resolution with Misaki being okay with the situation was kind of rushed? Just a 6,5 out of 10 for me.
7. Love Mate (6/8 on Gaga and Viki)
I am in love with the grumpy-I-don't-believe-in-love-guy and the sunshine-I-fell-in-love-with-you-at-first-sight-guy. The butterflies went wild in my stomach and my heart got all fluffy. Over all a 10 out of 10 for me!
Short Film
At The Moment (on Gaga)
In a not so far away future people can freely choose, which gender they identify as. They have the chance to change their gender once in their lifetime, so they must make the right decision. Of course, there are programs and surveys which will support you on your journey to the right decision. But what is the right decision? What if you were born male and you identify as a male, but you like feminine things and fall in love with another young man, but everyone around you tells you to change into a woman, because it is the most logical next step? We accompany Yi An, on the edge of seventeen and in love with his classmate Zhou Yang Kai, on his way to find out what exactly he is. His best friend, identifying as male and in love with Yi An, wants to help him getting comfortable with the idea of being a girl. But Yi An questions everything around the idea of gender swap and his own sexuality and in the end it is about self-love and to accept the fact who you are and who you love. It is an interesting short movie about the question what attraction, sex and gender is and if it does have to do with gender preferences or sex. A 9 out of 10 for me.
2. Gaze in Silence (on Gaga)
This should be named Obsession. Everyone in this was obsessed. The first one with sex, another one with the thought of becoming the first person's boyfriend and the last one was just obsessed with the first one. A story about a very active young man who likes to have sex with different partners and who is not looking for a relationship. One of his sex-partners wants to become his boyfriend and the situation escalated. But lucky number one has a stalker who films him during his sex-sessions and who now rescues him from the hands of the evil wanna-b-boyfriend. And they have sex while the wanna-b is lying next to them...tied up. A very strange ending, but not bad. A very quiet short film with a lot to say in the end. I liked the way it was shot and that there were no real conversations. 7,5 out of 10 for me.
3. May you stay, forever young (on Gaga)
If you expect there to be much romance or love here, you are mistaken. This was a very depressing and hard to watch film. You could literally feel the emptiness in our main character. It oozed outward from his core. Only the family couldn't see it. First and foremost, the mother. Francis grows up sheltered and is supposed to concentrate on his lessons and especially his piano playing. At least that's what his parents want him to do. He, on the other hand, wants to spend time with his friend Tommy and even secretly starts working a part-time job in the restaurant where Tommy works. The relationship of the two is never clearly defined. What is certain is that Francis likes Tommy. Whether those feelings are reciprocated, I don't really know. And in the end, Francis breaks down and the parents stand helplessly around him, not knowing how to deal with him. And then the movie ends and you're about as helpless as the parents, because we don't know what's going to happen next in Francis' life. But that's what I really want to know! Over all a solid 8 out of 10 for me.
4. So refreshed (on Gaga)
Kim and Choi are two gay friends. Kim likes Choi, but Kim is not Choi's type. So Kim suffers in silence until one night Choi decides to book a middle-aged masseur with a light belly for company. While Kim is out to get the money, Choi has fun with the, in the end, really homophobic masseur. Kim and Choi fight and when Kim is home alone again, he watches the video of Choi and the masseur, he secretly took with his watch, and jerks of...so refreshed! It was really disturbing and disgusting to watch. A 5 out of 10 for me.
5. Old Narcissus (on Gaga)
A story about aging and the struggle with it. A story about beauty and its transience. A story about acceptance and the fact you should really not trust strangers, you don't know shit about! That was one stupid choice you made writer! The moth never would! Still a 7 out of 10 for me.
Movie
Dropped/On-Hold in May
House of Stars
Dropped at episode 3. I really don't like this one. I don't like the acting not the story. It is boring and confusing and just overall not good, in my opinion.
Looking forward to in May
House of Stars (May 1st on iQiyi)
Love Mate (May 4th on Gaga)
Star Struck (May 18th)
Be my favorite (May 26th on Youtube)
The Luminous Solution (May 27th on Youtube and Gaga)
Tie The Not (May 27th on Youtube)
Takumi-kun Series 6: Nagai Nagai (May 27th cinema release, no international release for now)

Wanna give my 2 cents about Moonlight Chicken cuz I literally waited a whole year for this show! (like for real I saw the mock trailer in february 2022 at the start of my dive back in thai bl)
So I watched the first episode, later and was able to avoid spoilers!, and LOVED IT!
First of all the cinematography is literally an orgasm for the eyes! it is GOURGEOUS with those blue and oranges and reds, for the directing I am no expert but with Aof I always love his style
Next appreciation of the first shot with the long one take that trows you into the echtic lofe of the diner and introduce the important people in Jim life
I already love Gaipa as I knew I would (Khao is one of my favourite and I am so happy to see him back to his soft boys characters) and i hope he gets a happy ending🥺
EM chemistry always on point! I blushed and sqeeled so much in the bed scenes🫣🤭
Also they improved so much over the years! since ATOTS to CLW to this they got consisntly better and I feel so proud of their improvements especially Earth that was on the backseat of gmmtv for YEARS and is finally blooming with a partner that complemets him and durectors that can help develope his talent
I already love the kids Li Ming is feisty and strongwilled and take no shit from the richer, and Heart is a baby that got shitty parents that are unable to handle a disabled kid and resort to the "lets keep him shut inside so nobody sees him" I cannot wait for Li Ming to help him open up
Wen is a little slut it's canon! also switch! we love that
loved the subtle introduction of Alan, he wasn't even shown but you can feel his present, in the talk Wen had in the gym, and in Wens house
I also wanna know what the deal is their relationship cuz it feels like not Wen homself and his firend talk about his hook up with no remorse regarding Alan, and also someone on twitter said that maybe they broack up prior to the show and are still living together for convenience, or are on a breack but still living together... We will see also I cannot eait to see my adored First!
I love when Khao plays a wipped character! he does it so well like the onesided crushes and just being a boy in love ready to do anything for the person he loves, also Aof is so right when he sais Khao has a charm to him that draws you to look at him! and I loved seeing the comments here that said they focussed on him whenever he was on screen! I love my boy
I died when Gaipas mom literally called him out on his crush on Jim! and she was also trying to help him with that we love a supportive mom! also Saleng at the beginning clearly knows whats up! and I am pretty sure Jim knows as well but doesn't want to breack his heart so is playing dumb
I am sure the working for the hot uncle is gonna be a very smart move Wen that is not surely gonna bite you in the long run lol also he is alredy getting jelous of my baby Kaipa
This 1 episode really captured me and the episode felt so much more that the average gmmtv show! it felt elevated with the pace and cinematogrphy also everybody was amazing with their acting! so exited to see how it goes on!

Episode 4 liveblogging atots!
(I have lost all chill)
1/4
Wow, straight in with the "yes I changed your clothes, yes I saw your scars, wanna see mine 😏"
HE FOUND THE NOTEBOOK
Oop nevermind, that was very dramatic and the music was tense and the emotions were all over the place but that is how nightmares feel. Good to know he's feeling guilty at keeping it from them and also that his dream Chief is also very flirty 👀
Longtae is cute and reminds me of someone but I'm not sure who... maybe Sunghak from Bigstar, if any of you remember him.. it was a niche of kpop. (And I don't mean looks wise just something about him idk)
Seriously, Chief, you should know by now that Dr. Nam knows all your secrets...
"Don't tell me you've seen him naked" THE IMMEDIATE GAY PANIC. "Those are for menstrual cramps" I'm crying, it's ok chief we've all been there!! Love makes us all look stupid!
Teaching the kids so their families don't get scammed!! Making them paper airplanes 🥰
Oh nooo Chief being cute with the kids!! Tian really becoming the kids' big brother by swatting their hands away when they try to get him in trouble 😂
This looks like a very long motorcycle ride, I hope they brought snacks. (No, not you Chief, you're a whole meal)
Tian immediately jealous of Dr. Nam being there 👀
2/4
Oh god no, they're acting couple-y in front of Tian, pls no, he's too fragile for this. (Sidenote, that market lady selling the spinach, absolute milf, would buy more spinach than I reasonably need)
Dr. Nam has no time for your jealousy, Tian, he is here to be your wingman!
Honestly, Dr. Nam being like "oh you want to know something about someone? Ask them directly!! I will make you communicate if its the last thing I do.." A+
I can no longer type, this trio is killing me, Dr. Nam has 0 chill when it comes to their romantic entanglements, Chief is constant gay panic and fondness and Tian is just bewildered and burning the eggs. I am a husk of a human.
He bought him a new mosquito net!! He cares about your health and wellbeing!!! He wants to kiss youuuuu!!!!! I'm so fine about this.
Chief's getting jealous of Tian/Longtae and I live for the mildest of drama.
"Dog howling night" thats every night in the countryside tbh.
3/4
Dog howling night is NOT every night in the countryside, I take that back, whyyyyy are they doing this 😭😭😭 its weird when you're on your own but as a group activity??? Go have an ice bath.
Tian actually saying thank you without being prompted, thats growth. Chief looked back!! They're gonna kiss so hard one day.
Drake has never played a straight character in his life.
Playing the spinning top game... the flirting rituals... are intricate.
4/4
Besties taking the piss out of him for looking nice for a date. Standard.
He bought a new outfit AND shower gel, boy is thirsty 😌 glad you wore your slut jeans for your hike 😵‍💫
We have unlocked the "tragic backstory atop a mountain" sidequest.
God this is filled with so many of these sussing-each-other-out flirty comments. OH. It's a full on "do you want to ask me out" Chief is no longer playing around (was he ever?) wow... I honestly feel like I rarely see characters flirt this hard or this well? Especially not gay characters who can say "no, I'm not interested in a lot of people, there's no one else and I'm not playing around". It's very refreshing.
He likes her as a sister and Billie Eilish's "I just kinda wish you were gay" plays gently in the background.
Fuckin' monogamous hornbills 🥺🥺

Cupid's Last Wish Series Review
!!This review contains spoilers!!
I liked this a lot more than I expected to.
I was hesitant to watch it for a long time because I heard mixed reviews, and I didn't love the idea of a body swap. But the show managed it really well in my opinion. I had two main concerns. My first was that the main characters wouldn't know each other and that it wouldn't be clear that Earth's character was actually falling in love with Mix's, or the person Mix's character was possessing. The second was that we wouldn't see Mix very often.
However, Win(Mix) and Korn(Earth) DID know each other, had in fact known each other almost their whole lives, and had been in love with each other for a long time. So it didn't remotely feel like Korn was falling for Lin(Win's sister), even though Win's mother convinced Win otherwise. And the show alternated perfectly between Mix and Jan(the actress who played Lin). On top of that, Jan was absolutely EXCELLENT in her role. She mimicked Win's body language, facial expressions, and even tone of voice expertly. As I am trash for good acting, this counted for a lot. So I think this body swap was done about as well as it could have been.
I'll admit that I didn't like Win all that much. He did have his good qualities, and he grew as a person, but he was unfortunately often loud, aggressive, and cruel towards others. He softened as the series progressed, especially towards Korn, but he was a bit much to take a lot of the time. I must confess that my love of Tian from A Tale of a Thousand Stars played no small part in my ability to tolerate him. When Mix smiled or had a soft expression and it reminded me of Tian, I got a little mushy. So I'm not coming from the most objective place here. I think if Win had been played by an actor I was unfamiliar with I would likely not have been able to enjoy him at all.
I also loved Korn, and his clear affection for Win was very helpful. And EarthMix in general have great chemistry, which goes a long way. Their longing expressions when gazing at each other are *chef's kiss*.
I liked the story a lot too. At first I was wondering how the show was going to stretch them going to get water from four different monks over ten episodes, but they did it well. There was enough stuff that happened in between their quest that it didn't feel like it was taking too long. I never got bored.
I was annoyed at the beginning of ep 10, when it was revealed that Lin didn't actually want to marry Korn and was just trying to emotionally manipulate Win into revealing his feelings. However, the fact that it was acknowledged that what she did wasn't okay helped a lot. I was worried that everyone was going to act like she'd done nothing wrong.
The ending was very cute. I feel positively towards all of the characters(except their mother, who can fuck off for trying to separate Win and Korn), and I think Win and Korn ended up having a positive and healthy relationship.
I recommend this, but be aware that if you didn't watch ATOTS it might be hard to tolerate Win. Even if you did, it might still be hard. However, overall, I had a very good time.
8/10

THAT WAS PERFECT. SPOILERS FOR EP. 4 OF OUR SKYY 2 x BBS X ATOTS.
What can I say. I don't really know what to say. I'm going to blather because otherwise I'm gonna start really crying in this Starbucks.
I have so much Aof on my mind right now, especially with wrapping up not just this Our Skyy 2 series, but Bad Buddy, ATOTS, and finishing off He's Coming To Me last night (which I haven't intentionally processed yet, because I want to do a little rewatching before I get any passing words down).
Another thing I wanted to consider before starting on the episode is that while I've been so hugely focused on Pat and Pran, that I was also saying goodbye to my very first Aof couple in Phupha and Tian. I watched ATOTS WELL before even ever thinking about doing a Thai BL watchlist. I literally only watched ATOTS to get to know Earth and Mix before the premiere of Moonlight Chicken, close to the time that I joined Tumblr last summer. And I was fucking HOOKED after that.
I mean, before I get into my thoughts on this episode, I think what I'm feeling is similar to how I felt when I finished Bad Buddy. I just feel really fulfilled as an Asian that an Asian director is exploring all of these monumental themes in such an in-depth, loving, empathic, and creative way, vis à vis the lens of queer Asian characters in Asia dealing with issues very familiar to my own culture, and my watching how these characters, vis à vis the writing and direction of Aof himself, navigate those worlds.
What I'm realizing about this episode are a number of themes -- again, themes, as I wrote this morning to dear @wen-kexing-apologist, that I see Aof returning to time and time again. (I'm feeling really surprisingly emotional still, so this post is going to ramble a bit, the writing is not calming things down as it usually does.)
I think what's getting me really emotional here is that this episode was about transcendence -- HUGE transcendence on the part of Phupha, but on all the other guys, too. But in regards to how the transcendence STARTED, and from whom and to whom it started: it all happened when Pat and Pran arrived in Pha Pun Dao, and experienced Tian and Phupha, and vice versa. All of them experienced each other, and all of them changed because of it. Because they had found queer community amongst each other, they were able to share their experiences with new people, compare stories and emotions, and grow the better because of it.
Something I didn't realize last week was (or maybe I did, and I can't remember writing about it, because I'm a jumble): Pat and Pran moved again, Hegel-ian style, as I wrote in my massive BBS thesis. They went from Bangkok to Pha Pun Dao, a nicely big trip. Pat and Pran move, independently and together, always searching for their synthesis, which they can't QUITE find, because their families are in the way.
But they came REAL close to a public synthesis in this episode, and we know that they were essentially on another out honeymoon in Pha Pun Dao last week and this week, knowing that they were in the company of another queer couple, as @wen-kexing-apologist so sharply noted last night.
And then -- vis à vis Phupha's permission, a new modality of finding openness and honesty -- they came as close to a public synthesis, together, in the play as they could possibly find. While still closeted to almost everyone around them. They were still able to provide cover for fucking Dissaya. But they were as out as they could be between BBS episodes 11 and 12.
And that's just Pat and Pran's transcendence journey. With each Pat and Pran having separate conversations with Tian and Phupha in Pha Pun Dao, they could TRANSCEND THEMSELVES, their biases about their relationship with each other, and reflect on what holds people back in their own relationship. Indirectly, Pat and Pran were learning about what was holding Phupha back in being open and honest with Tian, and reflecting back to Chief on how THEY related to that (as communicative and reflecting youngsters), and Phupha could see THEIR processing, and learn from that. Pat and Pran could process because THEY found queer community, as much as Phupha and Tian did.
So: back to Aof and his themes. The theme of community building. How building a community and strength in numbers can help you grow.
It was so meaningful to hear Phupha comment that no one understood Phupha and Tian better than Pat and Pran. BECAUSE YOU NEED COMMUNITY TO GROW TOGETHER, AND THAT IS WHAT AOF IS SAYING FOR EQUITY FOR THE ASIAN QUEER COMMUNITY: FIND EACH OTHER AND BE TOGETHER, STRONGER. There are so many forces working against that community in each country of the continent, in their own ways.
And what happens when that happens, when people find community? You get strength and growth. You get a story like Phupha, who UTTERLY TRANSCENDED HIMSELF IN THIS EPISODE, MY GAWD. And Phupha did a Bad Buddy, he did a Hegelian thesis transition. HE MOVED. HE CROSSED HIS BORDERS and WENT TO THE CITY. As Pat and Pran, in episode 11, had to go to the eco-village -- Phupha needed to go to the city to close this newly awakened circle in him to confirm his relationship with Tian, and to find his sturdiness and commitment in living his life to take care of his partner.
Phupha found his courage through Pat, seeing how utterly OPEN and sappy Pat was to Pran. Phupha found that HE COULD STILL BE HIMSELF through Pran, hearing and seeing Pran's own reticence, Pran's own inclination to hold himself back. Phupha saw himself and Tian in Pat and Pran, and saw how a different paradigm could play out, simply with different mindsets.
I'm feeling really, just.... I am feeling really deeply grateful that we got to close out all of this on Phupha's story. Especially discussed among the friends (@lurkingshan, @shortpplfedup, @bengiyo, @wen-kexing-apologist, @ginnymoonbeam, and @kyr-kun-chan) -- could the ATOTS story have held up WITHOUT Pat and Pran?
Maybe? But, but, but. That wasn't Aof's point -- AT ALL.
Aof's point was to hammer home the equity of community. How you can be a BETTER PERSON when OTHER PEOPLE are helping you reflect, with THEIR PERSPECTIVES, on your life and your struggles.
There's a part of me that thinks here that there's a parable regarding the importance of having the freedom TO BE OUT. Each of the four guys -- Tian, Phupha, Pat, and Pran -- have their own ways of dealing with outness, and what it means to them. Each of them has their own group of people that would be affected by their outness.
And, fucking Christ, how beautiful. What we got to see in this episode is the internal reckoning of each character -- BUT ESPECIALLY PHUPHA, BECAUSE HE'S THE ELDEST AND WAS LIKELY EXPERIENCING THE MOST DIFFICULTY IN ADAPTING BECAUSE OF HIS PAST EXPERIENCES that we know nothing about (Uncle Jim, Uncle Jim).
We see Pran's reckoning at the moment of the play -- that he's gonna fool Dissaya. We see Pat not giving a toss for Ming. We see Tian WANTING Phupha in with his parents.
Each of the guys are in a different place and a different moment with their micro-circles. They needed to talk about their own stories with each other, and to hear each other tell their own stories, to build this story together of community.
They needed to each, vis à vis all of each other, that each one of them, individually, do need to compromise -- but not to GIVE UP THEIR LIVES for each other, or for anyone else in their lives.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
None of these guys needed to give up their lives to compromise to each other's demands or characteristics. Pat and Pran do not need to use their lives to repay the fucking foibles of their parents. They're gonna play their parents until their parents are ready, which I love and think that that's very realistic and empathic from the lens of Asian filial piety. (I LOVE @grapejuicegay's analysis -- and I like it, and am going with, the read that Pran needs to get separation from Dissaya through Singapore. Boy, do I ever fucking relate to that.)
Phupha doesn't need to use his life of reticence and secrecy to repay... what -- the world's bias against the queer community? Thailand's bias against public servants being out and open?
And Tian's is helping him through that. But Phupha couldn't have done this ONLY with Tian, because Tian has his own needs and his own issues, his own stubbornness, that Phupha and Tian need to contend with as a couple.
Phupha needed the big push, he needed the push of the community that Pat and Pran provided, and the objective REFLECTION that Pat and Pran provided vis à vis the play, to TRANSCEND himself and get to a place of openness and comfort.
And he found that, in the arms of Tian, but also in the acceptance of Tian's parents and Tian's community in Tul.
I think it is really ripping my heart apart that the close of ATOTS was told with the story of Bad Buddy. I actually don't see it ending any other way. And we didn't get a close of Bad Buddy, per se. We're getting the close of Pat and Pran and OhmNanon, for sure, but we know the boys will find ways to move forward in our beloved world of fiction, wherever they go.
We do know that Phupha has committed, openly, in family and community, to love and care for Tian, Tian with the borrowed heart and the thousandth star on his finger -- and that's exactly an ending for ATOTS that I could have asked for.
I have more to process... but mom needs a break and a cocktail tonight. I could not have asked for anything more than this -- I am so fulfilled.
