Obviously Red (Taylor’s Version) is empowering for so many reasons… but the vault tracks and new All Too Well lyrics show us that the original Red album was so censored.
Nothing New is a twenty times more devastating version of The Lucky One that shows her crippling insecurities and how they manifest in her in some unhealthy ways. (OG Red Taylor NEVER talked about drinking, nevermind admitting she’d had too much to drink.)
The blatant admittance in Run that Taylor distrusts her friends who don’t support her romantic relationship and she’d rather escape into isolation to be with her partner and how that is textbook victim of abuse who doesn’t realize it.
Forever Winter highlights how toxic and abusive her relationship was, that her lover was falling apart, wasted at 5:00am and she’s calling to check up on him scared for her life that he’s going to leave her.
And All Too Well (10 Minute Version) shows us how earth shattering that breakup was for her. We don’t just hear her searching for her old self and feeling like a crumpled up piece of paper, we hear about her lifeless, maimed corpse.
Whether by force or intense pressure from the men in charge of her at the time, the original Red album held back so much of the raw, intense emotional struggles Taylor was experiencing at the time. For Taylor to release those thoughts and feelings now, fully uncensored, is a glorious doubling down on the power and strength of her vulnerability.
So basically, fuck the patriarchy.

the overwhelming success of RED TV just goes to show how fucking phenomenal taylor is in her ability to (re)share music that was once so deeply personal and intricate and can now be made so incredibly universal and interwoven into all of our lives (even 10 years later) whilst also continuing to share such an incredibly strong, everlasting bond with all of us as fans of her music and her character. to me, THAT’S what success looks like, and i am forever enthralled by the pure ~magic~ that she can create 🥲

Check the pulse come back swearing, what does this line mean Jeannine?
i think the whole set of lyrics gives us context so let's look at that whole section:
And I was thinkin' on the drive down, "Any time now, he's gonna say it's love," you never called it what it was [he never told her i love you]
'Til we were dead and gone and buried [until it was too late, and they had broken up, then he finally said it, probably trying to get back together]
Check the pulse [fast forward, he came back and tried to get back together (an "on again"); the check the pulse is basically he was feeling things out with her to see if their relationship was still alive] and come back swearin' it's the same [when he checked the pulse he didn't notice or reflect that she was hurt, even tho everything had changed and it was not the same because by then she was hurt too badly from their breakup, but he kept saying 'things are the same as they were before we took a break/broke up last time / whatever it was that kept them apart for three months. again typical man]
After three months in the grave [see above; this tells us he came back to her after they'd been broken up for three months and that was when he came back to her trying to insist things were 'fine' that everything was as it was before etc]
And then you wondered where it went to [he realized things were in fact not the same, and he was wondering where things went wrong][typical dumbass dude] as I reached for you [but she took him back again anyway]
But all I felt was shame [she felt embarrassed and humiliated that she took him back, again] and you held my lifeless frame [but she was already dead/hurt/devastated inside because as previously mentioned their relationship was unrepairable at that point]
i think this verse really captures what it is like to have an on again off again relationship with someone that you DO love but you also are repeatedly hurt by very deeply. It is very hard to internally reconcile because you know you're hurt and you know that the person is probably going to hurt you again but you also believe you love them and the person can be persuasive that they have changed or they wont do __ again or whatever, and so you take them back as they insist 'every thing is fine' or 'this time it''ll be different' even though youre so hurt you feel dead inside, and its a very difficult cycle to overcome

When I listened to ATW10 and heard "keychain on the ground" I (naively) pictured that taylor just fumbled and dropped the keys, but seeing the short film just showed me it was so much more than that. Its a power move, chucking the keys without giving her a heads up, forcing her to pick them up from the ground, it's so condescending, demeaning and downright disrespectful. Especially when he could have easily just passed them to her.
It didn't stand out to me so much in the song at first because she quickly moved on to sing "we were always skipping town" which I think again reflects how a small thing can happen but you ignore it and move on because you're having a nice time together and don't want to be seen as ruining it by starting a fight
