Loneliness travels through my being

slowly as molasses;

until it's becoming all that I am.

I've lived without this feeling

in a earlier present time.

The first my soul has experienced this.

Without assurance of how to cope.

Endless will no companionship be?

The future approaches rapidly,

with the speed of time my life fades.

That's where vision of perception sets

in my mind anyway.

Almost like I'm held captive in a lonely place.

Lost is a part of myself that I fear will never return to who I am.

A Big Salute to Silent Workers!

All run to grab headlines and

competing to snatch credit

but it’s the silent workers

whose efforts get ignored!

The unsung heroes though

feel frustrated and sulking

but they keep on working!

There was a fight between

the Sun and the calendar!

Calendar claimed it brings

the change of day and date!

Sun too staked same claim!

In the fray Moon too jumped in!

Were they ignorant or selfish

of stark reality of the universe

as they conveniently ignored

all the hard work that earth does!

Neither the flipping of calendar

nor it’s the Sun rise or Sunsets

nor even the face of the Moon

that sometimes disappears or

appears sometimes half or less or

sometimes silvery bright fully round

that brings any change in day and date!

But it’s only the earth that rotates

on its axis all the times unstopped

that only makes it really possible

for the day and date to change!

I just published my poetry zine!

I put together this poetry zine in 3 months for my typography class. This magazine is a 25 double-sided pdf with a unique typographical design, including 11 English collab poems, 3 English poems and 21 German poems with 23 matching black & white photos. You can buy it for the low price of one small coffee on KoFi (3€) and there is a "pay what you want" function if you want to support my creative work!

Dive into the diffuse waters of poetry and search for the hidden meaning behind the words. I write about the little moments that make life worth living; not important events, not grand gestures, but everyday things. By writing about them, I give them value. The writing process is characterized by the fear of the blank sheet of paper, which has to be overcome without giving in to the urge to fill up the page. Diffuse poetry therefore describes the concept of having the courage to leave gaps and to deal with them openly. Not naming things clearly, but capturing the underlying thoughts and feelings. In contrast to concrete poetry, which is based on a clear statement and always has a message to convey. Have the courage to read between the lines and think about what you read, because words only have the meaning that we have given them. Poems are just condensed language, and always leave a certain amount of room for personal interpretation. I hope you enjoy reading between the lines!

September 04 2023; As I celebrate today, my 73 trip around the sun I have been reflecting on what I would like to do differently while I am on the next rotation around the sun. First off I have never seen myself as a photographer, I am a painter. (My paintings can be seen by clicking on the link at the top of this blog.)   Rather I take snapshots daily to continually train my eyes and mind to recognize design elements, and in some cases humor, in everything that I encounter.  I started posting on Tumblr on July 01, 2011, as a classroom exercise for my drawing, painting, and design students in the media arts program at Cypress College. I challenged them to record, using a simple camera phone, images that documented the interesting elements that comprise our day-to-day mundane reality with emphasis on design and composition using a square format.

In the summer of 2015, I retired from teaching, as a full professor, after 38 years in the classroom. I have been posting a new picture ever day since the first post in July 2011. Tumblr reports that image is the 6,559 image that I have posted to date. Not bad, considering that I have never missed a day posting a new image from day one. Nor have I ever reposted any images.

Anyway, after giving it considerable contemplation I am going to take a long vacation from posting and spend more time working on my paintings. I will be back (God willing) I just have not set a timeline to rejoin the game.
