Why Chad and Audrey's relationship isn't healthy;

In my opinion at least. Here is the rant.

Okay, so a friend and I were talking about these two and came to the realization that both their romantic and platonic relationship is unhealthy. Even though we both love their friendship.

And here's why:

1. The lack of communication.

In Audrey's diary (I think that's the book it came from), it states the following:

Which implies that Audrey never explicitly told Chad that they were just doing this to make Ben Jealous.

Implies that she just assumed he knew that.

And making assumptions in any relationship, not just a romantic one, is a bad move and can make for an unhealthy relationship. Especially if one isn't broken out of this habit.

Now, we don't know for sure how many times Audrey or Chad just assumed the other was on the same page as them but we can reasonably guess that it happened alot. Especially since Chad still doesn't seem to be aware that she doesn't have feelings for him in d3.

So we can definitely mark down lack of communication as being one of the many reasons their relationship is unhealthy.

2. Their codependence on one another.

The two of them seem to be codependent on one another.

Think about, in most of the movies, they're usually seen together when not in class/practice. And niether of them really seem to have friends outside of eachother.

And if you believe, like I do, that their parents aren't very involved in their lives, and that the two of them bonded over that, than we can assume that they spend even more time together than what we see.

And while in small doses codependence is fine, in big doses? It's not. Obviously.

3. Audrey never apologizes to Chad (that we see).

Think about it. I know alot of people don't like Chad, but Audrey is supposed to be his friend. And friends are supposed to apologize when they mess up.

Like when Audrey mistakenly assumed that Chad understood they weren't really dating without having specified that to our knowledge.

Or , Like when they take their anger and frustration out on someone who wasn't the one who caused those feelings.

Like Audrey did to Chad in d3 when she yelled at him and locked him in the closet for things that weren't his fault.

And

4. Imbalance in the relationship.

I'm not talking about a power imbalance, no. Though one could make an argument for that.

No, I'm talking about one person putting more into the relationship (platonic or not) than another.

Like Chad does. Time and time again.

Think about it.

Chad has always agreed with her on her opinions/feelings towards the vks.

He tried to protect her grandmother when he thought she might be in danger even though it was misplaced.

He listened to her insecurities and fears about the vks when Ben wouldn't.

He cared about their relationship (their romantic one) more than Audrey did and did his best to make her happy.

He went out of his way to get her in d2 when he had already paid for his Collastion outfit and didn't ask for compensation with no hesitation.

He caught her when she fainted.

He joined her in d3 when she turned evil.

And what did we ever see her do for him other than be concerned during family day when he was sprayed with something that knocked him out?

Nothing that I can remember. Correct me if I'm wrong.

No to mention the whole Audrey valuing Ben more than she does Chad, even when the two of them are broken up.

An imbalance in a relationship is unhealthy.

If one puts more into a relationship than their friend/partner/family member, than it's unhealthy.

If anyone else can add anything (more reasons why their relationship is unhealthy or examples of things Audrey has done for Chad) feel free to add it.

And don't get me wrong people, I love their friendship. I just feel like it's a tad unhealthy.

Too Trusting ~ Ben Florian x Male Reader

You're a part of the VK's, Mother Gothel's son

Mal doesn't like Ben at all, but all the others do, you a little more than the others

Goodness class was awfully boring

But having your friends with you made it tolerable

What made it better was running into the soon-to-be king, Ben

Ben and you had a rocky friendship, Mal made it tough for you and the other VK's to get along with him

But you still tried your best, joking with him and having witty conversations before they were interrupted by either Audrey getting jealous or Mal dragging you away

But luckily the two of you shared 'history of magic' and sat by eachother after Ben generously volunteered to sit by you when you moved to Auradon

You two did pay attention to the class but you talked a lot

About the island, about your mother, about the VK's, and about relationships....

Ben felt comfortable around you

It was different to how he felt around other guys like Chad

And very different to how he felt with Audrey

He'd said he felt as if he "were walking on egg shells around her"

One day, after Ben noticed that it was always Mal that dragged you away, he decided to ask you about it

"Are you and Mal a thing?" Ben asked innocently

You blush

"What? Haha no way!" You chuckle at his question

"Was my question that ridiculous?" Ben asks, smiling but slightly embarrassed

"I mean, kind of? Because I'm gay, Ben" you say as you keep chuckling, writing down whatever the fairy-godmother was saying

"Ah- I never noticed!" Ben says with an apologetic look

"Don't worry haha.... The fashion on the island is very similar to gay Auradon fashion so it must be hard to tell the difference"

After class Ben and you kept chatting until Audrey shouted from across the hall

"Benny-boo! I'm waiting for you to walk me to lunch!" She shouts with that headache inducing high-pitched voice

"Guess I've got to go"

"I guess you do benny-boo~" you tease and the two of you laugh as he leaves

"You two seem to have hit it off"

"AH! M-Mal... ew no I'm like... just pretending haha" you jump as you notice Mal behind you

"Sure... Listen I have a plan on how to get the wand" She says in a mocking tone

"I'm listening"

"A little birdie told me that the King's partner sits front row at the coronation, and they bring the wand out during coronation"

"I don't get it.... ARE YOU GONNA DATE KING BEAST?! Mal he has a wife..."

"Are you stupid.... No I mean the King to be, as in Ben" Mal says with a smile

"Oh... Are you planning to date Ben? He's dating Audrey" you say with a confused look

"No I'm not, I can't stand him... You are! You're going to spell him!"

"WHAT!? I can't do thaf, you may not like him, Mal but I do and I don't wanna spell him to fall for me" you say with grimace on your face

"Oh come on! (Y/n) I can clearly see you like him, just indulge in your own desires for once! You're mother would be disappointed in how selfless you are" Mal went in for the kill with that one

"Oh shut up... Fine I'll do it, but you're helping me"

"Obviously, I can't trust you to make spelled brownies, I can't trust you to even make regular brownies" She chuckles and the two of you giggle as you walk away

The tub of brownies was in your bag, it was time for history of magic again

"Today's topic is Villain magic" you could feel everyone look at you when the fairy-godmother said that

"Can you do any, (y/n)?" Ben asks you

You blush at the question

"Good question, Ben! (Y/n) would you mind coming up here and explaining it to us?"

The FGM must be some kind of sadist because you were in physical pain as you walked up to the front of the class

You explained the basics of villain magic, and how it derives from their origins and was adapted to their own persons

Then you mention yours being the same as your mother's, deriving from the song she sang to rapunzel

After class, Ben questioned you constantly

"So how does it work??"

"Is it only one song or multiple?"

"Can you sing me a spell??"

"Why dont you sing more often?"

After answering most of his questions you see Mal out of the corner of your eyes, miming towards your bag

"Oh by the way! I made you something for the big game" you say with a smile as you pull out the brownies

"Oh thank you but I don't eat before games"

"Oh I get it don't worry"

"It's nothing against you it's just my-"

"No no I get it don't trust a villains kid and all" you cut deep, you and to, Mal was counting on you and so was your mother

"What no it's not like that!" Ben says with a worried look on his face, the last thing he wants to do is offend you

"Ben I understand don't worry abou-" but the blonde interrupts you as he takes the brownie out of your hand and immediately eats it

" *Shee I Twust Yew* " he says with his mouth full

After he swallows the whole brownie, you look st him with a worried look but quickly hide it with a smile

"So how do you feel? Are they good?" You test the waters

"I feel great... You look great- I mean they taste great!" He mumbles, his eyes never leaving yours

God was he attractive, the way he immediately ate the brownie after he felt he'd offended you.... He's too Trusting but that makes him that much hotter you

After the madness of the game and his love proclamation ensues, Ben and you start dating

You feel incredibly guilty

For spelling him of course, but mostly for enjoying it

So after many dates and nights together, you had enough

You loved him so much, and he loved you but it didn't feel real - probably because it wasn't

So one day, when he begged you to show him a spell, you decided to try break the spell on him

"Fine, I'll try and spell you, happy?" You say faking annoyance

"Finally!" He says happily and gives you a kiss on the cheek

You blush and smile, but feel ill on the inside

This was it, you think to yourself what the correct spell for this situation was and then began

🎶Isn't it just so pretty to think, all along there was some invisible string, tying you to me ~~~~ but something must've changed, it isn't pretty to think all the love from that golden string has been drained🎶

Ben goes quiet for a second

'Did it work??' You think to yourself

"So? Am I a frog now??" Ben jokes

"Haha... clearly I'm out of practice, the spell failed" you chuckle with s glum smile

"That's fine, my boyfriend doesn't need to be amazing at everything, just most things" he jokes

He kisses you again, on the lips this time

You hate that you love it so much

After more dates and more troubles ensuing, the day of the coronation arrived

You hadn't told Mal about trying to break the spell

But she had suggested to break the spell after taking the wand anyway

After the troubles of the coronation happening, you meet once again with Ben

This time at the enchanted lake

"I baked you brownies again! For after our date" you say with a smile

You wanted one last perfect date with him

"Oh I'm starving, I'll have them now!"

"W-Wait! Swimming on a full stomach isn't the best idea you know I-" you were trying to grab the brownies back as Ben chuckles

However he scoffs them down as quick as he can as he laughs

"Crap... Do youuuu feel fine?" You ask with a worried look

"Umm yeah I guess? But let's give the reverse love spell some time to work, let's go back to our date!" Ben nonchalantly says

"Yeah that's a good idea.... wait what?" You look into his eyes with a worried, scarred look

"How long have you know?!" You shout

"Since you tried to spell we with a song, I didn't expect you to reverse Mal's love spell" Ben says with a chuckle

"I'm so sorry, you must think so lowly of me and you should do it was-" you apologise profusely but get interrupted by a kiss

"I'm not mad, (Y/n)..."

"You're not?"

"Nope, clearly you liked me but Audrey was keeping you from getting with me"

"Yeah..." you say with a sad smile

"Honestly I'm kind of thankful, I never realised I also liked guys and also how bad of a girlfriend Audrey was haha"

"I'm glad! I'm guessing this means you wanna call off our date?" You say with a bittersweet tone

"Of course not! Didn't you hear me earlier, I said we should get back to our date"

"Really??" You say in shock

"Definitely, come swim with me, my dear boyfriend (y/n)~"

The Villain was Mal: The century long Did I mention debate.

To this day Audrey and Ben are being pitted against each other in the Did I mention scene when neither of them were at fault.

Ben was the direct victim, he was unable to control his actions and did something he wouldn't even had done had he not been drugged and NOBODY out of all the people who knew him for years found this out of character or stood up for him. They didn't pull him aside afterwards to ask what the hell he was doing or if he was okay, knowing he was pretty much completely unprotected from magic and the VK girly is walking around with a spell book.

Audrey was the indirect victim, she was publicly humiliated by her boyfriend and watched people she was friends with cheer him on and the girl he's doing this with is the daughter of your family's enemy. You were visibly destressed and the same thing with Ben, nobody cares, nobody asks. So you do the only thing you can do to try and save face and find another date. She's got her heartbroken, she'd probably feel more humiliated even trying to ask Ben about it and it doesn't help all of her friends are cheering them on. She at this point doesn't even know what was really going on.

Ben ends up in this borderline abusive relationship where he's afraid to say no to his girlfriend/fiance and everyone including his parents holds her opinion of more value than his as king. Whenever he's being abused by magic, which happens in all three movies nobody (D1-D2) Sticks up for him they either don't care or blame him for actions he had no control over.

Audrey is shunned from Auardon and is blamed by her family for failing to secure the king as if they didn't have a genuine relationship and she doesn't have feelings. She falls into a depression and has fallen behind in school and questions her self worth because all of the people who were her friends or looked at her in awe were now asking "What is she doing here?" for showing up to a birthday party that in any other circumstances she would've been invited. How was she not supposed to tie her self worth in dating Ben when people started treating her like a waste of space when she wasn't with him?

In conclusion, after years we need to realize that this situation was neither of their faults, they had been used and manipulated in a plan that was barely undone because nothing was every clarified between the two. The ending of their relationship was forced onto them and consequently the destruction of any friendship they could've had. I don't want to be like "blame it all on Mal" but if we're going back and forth between blaming Ben and Audrey, then yes we need to blame Mal. She created the direct situation for it to happen, benefited from it entirely, lied about what actually happened (saying she spelled Ben for love) and she herself never tried to make amends or actually explain the situation. Mal spelled him taking away his right of action and she clearly wasn't sorry about what happened to Audrey because she insults her right after the did I mention scene when at this point she doesn't know anything about her. She further in my opinions shows a lack of actual remorse when she continues to try and spell Ben later on and when she gives up on magic gaslights him into doing what she wants (she doesn't take no for an answer.) (That's a whole different conversation but okay Mal, Audrey is the shallow one and Evie is better even though everybody knew Evie was only interested in Chad because he was a prince.)

𝗔 𝗪𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗛 𝗢𝗙 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗧 𝗕𝗨𝗡𝗡𝗜𝗘𝗦

Okay, so as I was talking to Evie about the other day, I was going through one of my old notebooks and found a whole extended universe of Descendants OCs I had planned from middle school. I obviously don’t plan on formally introducing or doing anything with all of these OCs, because there is a lot of them, but I still thought it would be fun to share them with you guys! They’re not all in their original versions from my notebook, because a few of them did require a little changing and revamping, but I still hope you guys enjoy these little ideas from twelve-year-old me’s brain.

Soha Pride, daughter of Simba and Nala, Carlos ship. Able to attend Auradon Prep thanks to a spell from Fairy Godmother that allows her entire family to shift between their lion and human forms. Very dedicated to her duties as a princess of Pride Rock, but sometimes feels overshadowed by her older sister Kiara because she’s the oldest and the heir. Doesn’t believe any of the stuff Audrey and Chad say about the VKs and makes it her mission to be friends with them. Formerly a Jay ship. I am going to be introducing her formally in a little bit, so look out for that!

Josie Sparrow, daughter of Jack Sparrow, Evie ship. Auradon kid because it could never be decided whether Jack was a villain or not, and now he sails all around the seas surrounding Auradon and the different kingdoms. Has the ability to visit the Isle in her dreams, and it’s later revealed that that’s because her mother is Calypso. A huge troublemaker and prankster who’s constantly in trouble with Fairy Godmother, and becomes quick besties with Mal because of it when the VKs first come to Auradon.

Jackson Kelly-Jacobs, son of Jack Kelly and David Jacobs, OC ship. Son of Jack and Davey because I am a Javid shipper for life. A dancer and gymnast who’s on the R.O.A.R. team, and used to be friends with Chad before he turned into a bully. Really flirty and charming like his dad Jack, but still a total sweetheart. He and Evie quickly develop a WLW/MLM friendship when the VKs come to Auradon, and he definitely punches Chad during the Family Day thing.

Steven Smee, son of Mr. Smee, OC ship (Jackson’s boyfriend). Comes to Auradon with the VKs even though he’s not friends with them after Ben lets his dad persuade him to invite the child of a sidekick along with the children of villains so the people of Auradon are a bit “more receptive”. A complete shy sweetheart who loves his dad and brothers and misses them terribly when he leaves (because Smee is actually a really good dad) and is the reason the twins get to come to Auradon in the third movie. Kind of sensitive because he got bullied a lot as a kid on the Isle, but still has an inner strength that not a lot of people expect.

Maile Montunui, daughter of Moana, Uma ship. President and pretty much only member of the Auradon Prep Sailing Club, which the Sea Three join after they come to Auradon in the alternate post-second movie story that I had in my head. Incredibly courageous and not afraid to speak her mind, but sometimes gets herself into trouble from being too confident. Frequently curses and insults people in Samoan. Bisexual disaster who falls in love with Uma instantly, even if it takes Uma a while to feel the same about her.

Haven Hearts, daughter of the Queen of Hearts, Harry ship. Member of the VKs who had a sort of Romeo and Juliet romance going on with Harry, but has to break it off when they leave to go to Auradon. She wants desperately to be good and break away from her mother’s reputation, and dedicates herself to being better once the VKs choose good at the coronation, which causes some tension between her and Harry when they meet again in the second movie. In the alternate post-second movie story after the Sea Three come to Auradon, though, they reconcile and get back together. She’s fierce and sarcastic by nature but not mean, and she shares Mal’s love for graffiti.

Cierra Chernabog, daughter of Chernabog, Ben ship. Outcast even on the Isle because her father is a demon, doesn’t come to Auradon until after the second movie because so many people were against bringing Chernabog’s kid to Auradon the first time. Super shy and doesn’t talk a whole lot, but incredibly smart and loving. Has a demon form that she isn’t able to access until leaving the Isle, but it’s big and terrifying and still kind of cool.

Celeste Frollo, daughter of Judge Frollo, Audrey ship. Claudette’s twin sister, very religious and God-fearing due to her father’s teaching, so she has a lot of Catholic guilt over liking girls (picture, like, Carrie White with no telekinesis and if she was a lesbian). Gets to go to Auradon after the second movie, when Audrey’s slowly starting to reform herself and be more accepting of villain kids (we’re pretending the third movie doesn’t happen, I guess), and at the same time my girl slowly starts to overcome her guilt and they fall in love!

And there are even more, but I’m gonna stop there (😅). Hope you guys enjoyed this little look into my crazy little middle schooler brain!!

ages of Descendants characters

at the time of D3 they'd be roughly...

Mal: 18-19

Jay: 18-20

Evie: 18-20

Carlos: 17-18

Ben: 18-20

Audrey: 18-20

Chad: 18-20

the Smee twins: 12

it's stated in Descendants 2 that Mal was 16 in Descendants (2015). what with them seeming quite young in Wicked World, all of the events that occur and time that passes in each novel, and them being moderately functioning adults in Descendants 3, the idea that they spend a good 3-4 years in Auradon makes a lot of sense.

it also has interesting connotations.

Carlos de Vil was only 14 or 15 in the first movie. this makes sense from his portrayal in the movie and isn't much of a difference from the others' being 16 - in Auradon. consider the dynamics on the Isle of the Lost, though: in the gang scene, he was probably the youngest major player of all the villain kids.

we know that there are six months between Descendants (2015) and Descendants 2. in this time, Uma and Harry win the Lost Revenge, build their crew and reputation, and secure all of Mal's old territory. that isn't a lot of time for the new normal on the Isle of the Lost to be solidified. Uma and Harry are still riding the waves of their sudden ascension to being major players on the Isle, which adds credibility to Gil's scenes in the movie and their astounding confidence in just. impulsively ransoming the fucken King of Auradon.

this timeline also means that there are 2-3 YEARS between Descendants 2 and Descendants 3. this makes the animosity between Uma and Mal over her crew's abandonment of the Isle - and Uma's character development into such firm determination to be a savior for the Isle kids - all the more reasonable.

so for 2 or 3 years, Mal and Ben are finishing school, settling into their relationship, and Mal is being prepped to be Queen; Jay, Evie, and Carlos are navigating school, friendships, and creating new roles for themselves outside of the Isle; Uma is roaming free outside the barrier, investigating the world but unable to do anything to help her crew back on the Isle; Harry and Gil are trapped on the Isle with no updates from Uma or news of Auradon, stepping in to adapt to the loss of the leader of their relatively newly-established crew; and all of the other VKs are left to rot without any follow up on the exchange program.

according the the novels Mal, Jay, and Evie graduate shortly before Descendants 3, which helps make sense for why - and why then - they were entrusted with selecting the next group of VKs to bring over. it makes more sense for them to suddenly be permitted to visit the Isle of the Lost to spread propaganda, applications, and mentor the kids when they couldn't before. Auradon brought one batch of VKs all the way into adulthood and now that they are proving to be promisingly responsible citizens, they're finally moving to bring over some more.

Mal, Jay, Evie, Ben, Audrey, and the others being in that painful post-graduation transitional period of life also makes a lot of sense for their actions in Descendants 3. they're no longer in high school and are suddenly confronted with deciding who they want to be and what they want to do with their lives. we see Jay settle into mentoring the new VKs very comfortably, seeming more comfortable in his own skin than he had been before; Evie is masterfully managing a home, business, and boyfriend; it's a logical time for Audrey to snap, when she'd managed to hold herself together previously; and it adds to the pressure Mal and Ben were under that inspired them to agree with closing the barrier.

canon pieces imply that it was days between the final battle of Descendants 3 and Hades' waking Audrey and that the barrier was lowered immediately after this takes place. this means that Ben and Mal immediately moved for dropping the barrier after Hades' speech, all of the Council supported them now in doing so (????), and there were no practical or legislative roadblocks to completing the action. very little time passed for Uma and Harry to wrangle people on the Isle; Audrey was released back into public favor at the celebration literally immediately; and there wasn't time for many conversations or relational resolution among the Core Four.

canon is stupid and I'm especially horrified by the lack of logic in that last part... but the more I consider these characters according to this timeline, the more I like it.

"In the fourth novel (Escape from the Isle of the Lost), set before D3, Mal, Ben, Evie, Doug, and Jay graduate. D3 opens either months or a year after that, so we can assume they're 19 or 20. Still young, but legally able to marry. Carlos and Jane are seniors, so 18 by that point. The younger characters are all over 11, but younger than 15; as Auradon Prep only accepts boarders from 11 and up."

I've seen people talk about Uma, Harry, and Gil all being the same age, and of Harry being the same age as Mal, so I assume the pirates would also be 18-20.

@hannahhook7744 and I had a GREAT story Idea and I wish for you to see our brainstorming (TM) for it. Hannah’s in purple and me in orange, because colaboration and I thought it was funny .

Audrey suggests the idea.

They both end up happier because of it.

They all realize after yearS (They ALL live in denial. Except for Gil who thinks everyone else knows they’re dating.) that their relationship turned into a real one and they're all fine with it. They get out of denial eventually. (Yeah but it takes them ages). Definitely. 

Uma confronts Ben about how he dropped the ball on his relationship with Audrey and his friendship with both her and Chad. 

They get Jordan involved to have some media influence on their side.

Any scenes you can picture? We need a catalyst to kick Audrey into proposing this idea to Chad so that? Audrey explaining the idea to Chad and then to the pirates. (Audrey’s grandmother probably turned back to how she was and Chad probably tells her that he thinks his parents haven't care about him since Chloe was born. He was adopted when he was 6. Chole was born 2 years later sickly and his parents were working on bringing the Tremaine sisters, Hans—Drizella's husband, and their kids back). Audrey probably proposes the idea to piss her parents off and test if Chad's parents still care). (Leah should be ranting about multiple things including thinly veiled amatonormativity because she’s a bitch like that and definitely thinks that girl is a spinster by twenty.) (YES). 

There was the prompt that went „Permission to off them?“ „Permission enthusiastically granted.“ That’s Huma when someone hurts Chad. Audrey is already dialing Jordan. (YES. and Gil is just comforting Chad.) (Obviously. He’s like, Should I go help you guys cause some brutal violence? „No don’t worry we’ve got it!“ „For the last time,you CAN’T kill the queen–“) (lol. I love that Gil goes either way when it comes to murder. Audrey is usually like 'no murder'.. but with some exceptions). 

Also Chad just feeling like no one even cares about him trying to put effort into changing and thinking that maybe it's too late for him only for Urusla or Hook to be like 'You're a TEENAGER. It is so not too late.' Or Harriet. I'm not picky.. (Harriet. She’s done with teenage bullshit since she was thirteen. Also, Ursula doesn’t understand the concept of time. …Neither does Hook really.) (Harriet, comforting crying Chad, internally: “All I wanted was to borrow some office supplies and weapons. Why does it always end like this?”) (Harriet has become the one who is always telling teenagers and kids it's not too late for them to change).

Why I think Chad Charming is even worse than he seems

Needed warning: Not Chad friendly. If you are a fan of his, please proceed to read with caution.

I've noticed on Tumblr, Chad is a fairly popular icon. And that in itself isn't really an issue. Many people like characters that I don't, and that's okay. And I'm sure many people dislike characters that I do like.

But at the same time.... People appreciate certain aspects of his character that I personally feel uncomfortable with. And in this post I will explain what those aspects are and why.

His friendship with Audrey is actually quite troubling to me

Chad and Audrey's friendship, often named "Chaudrey" is quite well liked. I.... Find it a bit shady.

When I first watched through Descendants, I wasn't under the impression that we were supposed to take Chad's romantic feelings for Audrey seriously. I thought it was more of a joke that he had a crush on her and was ridiculous about it, so more of a comic relief thing than a serious aspect of the story.

But I've heard that in Audrey's Diary it says that after Audrey's breakup with Ben and humiliation, Chad was very much there for her and was supportive.

Big red flag.

What I find troubling about this is that it's during this very specific period of Audrey's life, that all of a sudden Chad is being so doting. As a guy myself, I would be somewhat suspicious of a dude who fancies a girl suddenly being very attentive and comforting to her after a breakup, suspicious that maybe it's just him trying to slip through and become her new boyfriend.

Of course it would be ridiculous to say that this is a general rule. Of course there would be guys in Chad's situation who genuinely would just want to be there for a friend in need. Maybe it really is that case with him.

But here's the thing.... Knowing Chad, would a logical conclusion really be that his intentions here were pure?

In School of Secrets, its shown that Chad was dating 11 girls at the same time.

In Descendants 2, we see that Chad actually holds somewhat sexist views on women.

And in Descendants 1, we can all remember how he was more than happy to pretend to be romantic toward Evie to just get her to do things for him, and then sold her out when it suited him.

In a way, whether or not Chad's comfort toward Audrey is sincere is a bit beside the point. At the end of the day, suppose you knew a guy with a similar personality and history as Chad's suddenly being a super friend to a girl he liked when she had just broken up with her boyfriend and was devastated about it. Would you not find him shady? Why should Audrey be any different to him than the other 11 girls he clearly fancied? What really indicates that he isn't using similar charms and manipulation that he used on Evie?

And this interpretation kinda is furthered to me by my next point.

2. In a way... Chad takes advantage of Audrey while she is mentally unwell

Descendants 3 on the surface seems as if Audrey is cruel to Chad and he is the poor victim.

But... Let's again, analyse this from a logical perspective, in oppose to the perspective the writers intend for us to take:

Audrey gets taken control of by the sceptre. It plays on her thoughts, her insecurities, and mental damage to turn her into this pink demon figure. It's messing with her brain.

Chad sees Audrey like this, and rather than act with concern that she is not being herself.... He actually genuinely sees this as an opportunity for him. He rushes toward her and offers to become her boyfriend (no seriously watch the scene, he does), or her sidekick, and also offers his support in whatever it is she is planning to do.

He's not worried for her. Not at all. He's *delighted* with this turn of events. Is this really the behaviour of a loyal best friend who cares deeply for this girl? Or the behaviour of a guy who is more than willing to take advantage of her situation to potentially become her man?

Contrast this with Ben's response when Audrey confronts him. He is concerned for her. He knows she isn't being herself. He immediately puts two and two together that she is under a spell and offers his help. How messed up is it that her ex boyfriend who she hasn't seen for an entire year is behaving more caring to her than her best friend?

It could be argued that Chad offering his help to Audrey is to be seen as him simply being afraid that she would put him under the sleeping spell unless he was of use to her. But look at his body language, his lines, and his attitude in the scene. Does it really seem like he is scared for his life? Or does it seem like he's happy?

Not to mention, even as she batters and intimidates him throughout the film, he still doesn't give up trying to get a date with her. At one point, rather than show self preservation instincts and go along with her quietly, he asks if they can hang out at his place. So... Even if he was afraid, would it really change him trying to pull this off?

If a true friend sees you making questionable decisions and not being yourself, they try to steer you back to the right path, they try to find out what's going on with you so they can help appropriately. Chad does neither of these things.

3. He is a hypocrite towards Ben

Okay this one is a bit more speculative. It could just be my protectiveness of Ben talking, but in D3, when Ben says it has been beneficial to Auradon for the VKs to live in it, Chad yells "yeah, especially for you!". Considering that Chad is standing by Audrey as he says this and it seems bitter, I get the impression that he is calling Ben out for Audrey's heartbreak.

And I get it, Ben didn't speak to Audrey after the love spell came off him. That wasn't acceptable.

But... As I said in my previous post, of all the people in the series, is Chad really one to throw stones here?

First of all, as of my aforementioned suspicions of his character's motives, I would find it more believable that this would not be anger at Ben for the idea that he has *hurt* Audrey, but rather envy of him being king and having formerly been Audrey's boyfriend. And using the fallout of the stadium performance as a self righteous justification.

Secondly, even if I were to give him the benefit of the doubt that he is mad at Ben for the right reasons..... He has no room to talk here. Chad literally has cheated on multiple girls, led on and manipulated Evie and just treats girls like utter trash. Ben's one situation of questionable neglect of Audrey is absolutely nothing compared to the hijinks Chad has pulled throughout the franchise.

Just for the record, I'm unsure the phrase "taking advantage of" can apply to a situation not involving sexual abuse. I'm pretty sure it can, but just in case I'm wrong there, please hold me accountable so I can correct it. Thank you.

My thoughts on the descendants characters meeting their EAH counterparts:

Mal/Faybelle: it’s a gamble whether or not they get along

Evie/Raven: Evie would be SUCH a bad influence, but she would definitely appreciate her baby sister’s sense of style

Ben/Rosabella: they would get along SO well, it shocked everyone, Mal and Daring however, hate each other, and got all for of them kicked out from Tiana’s restaurant when they tried having a double date

Audrey/Briar: would absolutely despise each other at first, until Apple convinced Briar to invite Audrey to one of her parties and she finally got to relax for the first time in her life, leading to apologies and the foundations of a long-lasting friendship being built

Chad/Ashley: Ashley would try to physically fight Chad every chance that she got, leaving Hunter to pull her away every time, and ending up blowing all his money on picnics in the enchanted forest to calm her down. Chad and Daring, however, become besties and share hair product tips

Jane/Farrah would get along just fine, and would definitely help each other out with their respective confidence issues

Ally/Alister: Alister would kick Ally’s face in in a heartbeat, as he should

So..... I tortured myself to watch the wedding and it's bad. Like really bad.

The first part of the animation was ok until the rest of animation was glitchy as hell. I mean what the hell Disney! You're a multibillion dollar company and you give us this?!

The animation is cheap, making bad sequels like Mulan 2 and Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 look like masterpieces.

The clothes look meh, like they were recycled from the movies. Like Disney, you couldn't make the characters wear new clothes for the occasion?

AND DON'T GET ME STARTED WITH AUDREY'S SHOES!!! MY GOODNESS, THEY'RE DAMN UGLY! AND HER HAIR IS PASTED ON HER HEAD. WHY DISNEY WHY?!

Why Audrey of all people help Mal with her 'wedding' when she hates Mal's guts( which was understandable)

Boy, Jay looked very much like Li Shang, it's like Jay is Mulan and Shang's long lost son. Too bad Lonnie, you can't date him.

Where the bloody hell is Lonnie, Jane, Carlos, Harry and Gil?! Are they not important or what? Throughout the animation there was no mention of them or nothing. It's like they'd been yeeted out of existence.

Everyone hates Chad. The poor guy needs character development. Also, how the hell Hades knew his name?

Hades almost ruined Mal's wedding cause he was 'misunderstood'. Wut? Spare me the crap.

Only thing was cute was lizard Maleficent with her hat.

The worst part of the wedding was when Mal was reminiscing Carlos and she was sad and says she wished Carlos was here. And I'm like WHAT?! Why did they do that? Are they trying to imply that Carlos is dead in the cartoon too? I'm confused here. They could have make him go to college or something and text them saying that he's unable to come because something came up? Just because the actor passed away that doesn't mean that the character die as well. Look at Iroh, his actor died of cancer in 2006 and yet his character moves on with another voice actor. They could have done that and I'm sure Cameron wouldn't want that. And they call it a tribute. Bulls**t.

Uma, like Audrey hated Mal's guts but still helps her because it's her wedding by telling them that Hades ran off to the Isle for God knows why and cleared the fire at the barrier, making Audrey drenched in the process. At least there's a little Audrey/Uma friendship.

Mal and the others entered the Isle, and the Isle looks like a broken neighborhood. When they reached Hades entrance, they were stopped by human Pain and Panic, telling that Hades doesn't want to see anybody. This irritated Mal that she turned into a dragon( isn't her dad a god?) just to scare Pain and Panic when Hades came outside to calm her. Hades invites Mal and company in only to find Ben there and she and Ben hugged only to realize that they're not supposed to see other cause wedding tradition. Hades talked with daughter about why escaped and yada yada (facepalm). Mal assures him and everything is good. Suddenly, FG, Belle and Beast appears via the wand, reminding them that the wedding was about to start.

Mal gets a Cinderella treatment by magically wearing her wedding dress. The dress looks similar to Cinderella's.

The wedding ceremony kept at the Isle.....ok.

The song was eh, ok, but poor Chad.

There was a little Jaudrey moment.

The end.

Yeah and that's it, the Royal Wedding, if I should call it that. It's boring, glitchy, cheap and my goodness, I can't take this any more. Also, I heard that Belle's actress didn't get called back or returned yet her character was there and not Carlos, Lonnie, Doug, Jane, Gil and Harry....

Who do you think the main aks and vks would be friends with? Outside of their regular friends (i.e the sea 3 and core four and Hero 6) ? And why?

So, besides for their immediate group of obvious friends:

Mal: Jane, since they're both half fairy.

Jay: His cousin Jade. Aziz, the son of Aladdin and Jasmine, much to everyone's surprise, most of all their own. Jordan. Lonnie, of course.

Carlos: Doug, since they're both smart, bookish, and usually underestimated. Claudine Frollo, since they both have....difficult parents, and would help each other out. His cousins, Diego, Ivy, and Hunter de Vil, the latter two whom I like to pretend exist in the Descendants universe. Harry and Jace Badun, not that they have anything in common, but they all got shoved together all the time during childhood that they ended up just getting along with each other regardless.

Evie: Dizzy, of course, since they both share a love of fashion. Audrey, surprisingly, once Audrey realizes that VKs aren't so bad and the whole Queen of Mean episode is over with and she's changed from that. Jane?

Uma: Harriet Hook, as Harriet is a fellow pirate captain whom she is allied with, what with Harry being her first mate. (Harriet is also her future sister-in-law, not that Uma nor Harry will admit it, although CJ takes great pleasure in loudly announcing it.) Ben, at some point after D3 - Uma is a young ruler too, in a way, she has her pirate crew, and both of them are under great stress. Ben wasn't trapped with villains under a barrier, though.

Harry: I think it said somewhere that Harry and Gil used to be friends with Jay? Also Lonnie, because anyone who can beat him at swordfighting earns his respect. His sisters, not that any of them will admit it. The rest of the crew.

Gil: He used to be friends with Jay like Harry? Ben, actually, since Ben decides to set a personal example for "don't judge the children for what their parents did." Also people like Dizzy and Jane and Evie....basically anyone who's cheerful or optimistic or hopeful like he is.

Celia: Her sister Freddie, Uma (who depending on what headcanon you believe may also be her sister), CJ Hook, since she's friends with her sister, and, my headcanon, Tiana's daughter at Auradon Prep who's just about Celia's age. (Tina? Tanya? Evangeline? They got assigned to work together on a science project. The teacher assigned them randomly and didn't think about the possible ramifications. Fortunately, to everyone's surprise including their own, once they got past the whole "My dad turned your dad into a frog. My mom sent you dad to the other side," thing, they got along pretty well.

Dizzy: Jane, Audrey, Lonnie, and in fact any girl ever who comes to her to have her hair and nails done and/or fashion advice, which Dizzy, despite the fact that she's younger than most of them, knows a lot about. Also her cousin Anthony.

Squeaky and Squirmy: Their older brother Sammy, plus all three of the Hooks. CJ sees them as little brothers.

Ben: Everyone. Really. He's Ben. He's friends with everyone.

Lonnie: Jane, well, she tried to be friends with Audrey, but then Audrey went and became the Queen of Mean, and actually also Uma.

Chad: Audrey, of course. And Ben. They were pretty good friends, after all, or at least they used to be.... 

Doug: Carlos. His brother and cousins. Hey - Doug and Carlos can bond over being the smart kids with a bunch of cousins!

Audrey: Chad. Ben. Well, she used to be friends with Ben, but then he met Mal and it all went downhill from there. Once Audrey and Mal, post-D3, have a long honest discussion, they have....well, perhaps not friendship, but an understanding. Dizzy, actually - she may be a VK, but her knowledge of fashion and beauty is to rival any princess's, and Audrey's never one to turn down a free makeover.

Jane: Mal, as they're both half fae. Lonnie, sometimes, although as Jane is so insecure and Lonnie is definitely not, sometimes being around her makes Jane even more insecure as she wonders what she's missing.

Three questions:

What do you think about the book Aks and Vks(that is if you read the books)

Do you believe that descendants could have been a animated series from the start with ALL descendants kids and not just Mal

Who do you think got the worst treatment in the descendants fandom? AK version: Ben, Audrey, Lonnie or Chad?(or all 4)

I've read some of each book so I can answer briefly but I haven't ever sat down and read them all cover to cover back to back so excuse me if I left some things out.

1.) Pre-descendants (blank on which one was the prequel I think it was Isle of the lost not 100% though) Audrey was more naïve, honestly don't think I would've cared for her character if they kept her similar to female movie version Ben. I would've felt bad for her but I actually like movie Audrey more. A lot of fanfiction Audrey matches book Audrey's personality instead of Movie Audrey. I like that Audrey has a rougher personality, similar to the vks I relate Mal's d2 whole I'm not good enough and Evie's One kiss "maybe I'm just too bad" to her movie character because Audrey was selfish but she wasn't supposed to be she's a princess and I would've like to see how she struggled with that. In the books it's more or less non existent.

As for Ben I like him a lot more in the movies than in the books, I'm 50/50 on his book character. I think he's an ass, in the prequel it's implied that one of the only reasons he specifically picks Mal to come off the Isle because he has dreams about her (aka romantically interested) making it seem like he doesn't actually care for the Isle kids he just wanted to get himself a girl off of there. He's rude to Audrey, He basically implies that because he's becoming King his life is much harder than her fairy tale life and he thinks it's boring. He acknowledges that he doesn't even like her but continues to go out of these nicely planned dates with her. They make it seem like he's so tired and bored of everything in his life and that he's really only actively participating in friendships and relationships because he doesn't have anything else to do and takes the chance of bringing VKs into it to spice it up. They also instead of making it solely Mal's decision try to imply that Ben agreed with this decision instead of being pressured into it. Other than that he does seem like good o'l Ben there are sad moments were his insecurities of not being a good King are showed that I appreciated.

As for VKs

The Demon is worse than ever still the same terrible person that she is, except it's even worse now that I read her thoughts from the book.

Evie was shady sometimes but more or less the same character. They did give Carlos and Jay more lines and depth but I just feel like their characters book or movie version were never fully fleshed out. They have small characteristics that shows you hey it's this character talking but other times it's like you could switch the dialogue and say it's Jay talking here instead of Carlos and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Uma is very close to her movie adaptation in my opinion, probably because she was only a movie character at first so the writer didn't have to struggle with giving a character a personally than having to change it when the movie decides to change it.

2.) If you mean make it so all the characters got equal screen time if it was a series than yeah I do. I know we all hate how it became the Mal show but I honestly struggle to see how they would flesh out each character in the last two movies anyway which is why you, myself and a lot of other people think it should've been a series so that all characters could've have an arc. Maybe then it wouldn't be "Mal and anybody she likes=right and anybody else= wrong"

3.) Worst treatment hands down Ben and Audrey but in general I think the fans are too hard on all the AKS especially the boy ones. Jane was forgiven, Lonnie is just there, there's nothing really to hate besides her hypocrisy. But Doug is shitted on because he was an insecure teenage boy who as a form of comedy relief calmy asked if Evie was seeing someone else and then tried to list his good points so that if Evie was seeing someone else she'd pick him over them. Chad is...a chad I do think it's unfair how the fandom hates him for using Evie but completely ignores the fact that she was doing the same thing. She didn't care about him and he didn't care about her why should one be hated over the other. Movie Chad really wasn't as much of a playboy as they tried to make him (I don't like Chad) but the only girl we see him show real interest in is Audrey. Everybody knows I don't think he was wrong for what he said at family day either it's just a strong bias against AKs.

Ben gets shitted on to lift up Mal like the series doesnt even jump start because of him. She gets credited for a lot of things he's done or should have been in charge of but gets shitted on for all the bad stuff that is never really his fault. Mal tries to spell him he rightfully gets angry and somehow he's pushing on being an abusive boyfriend??? If it's not from Mal fans it's unfortunately from Audrey fans blaming him for the Did I mention scene when he was clearly drugged. There's way more but let's cut it short.

Nothing Audrey can do is right in this fandom, when she didn't get herself involved with the Vks and didn't blindly trust them She's a mean girl she's a bully. When she snaps after having her life turned upside down, being betrayed and dropped by everyone she knows including adults and her family and is left lonely and isolated while being forced to watch the girl who's family now has a pattern of fucking hers over, she's over dramatic and doing too much over a high school break up and should be punished. Meanwhile most likely their favorite characters have either a similar personality to Audrey's or have done actions similar to hers that have gone unpunished (Looking at all the C4)

Parent(s): Roger and Anita RAdcliffe

Bio: Daphne is the daughter (she/her) of Roger and Anita Radcliffe. She has an older brother named RJ who is a historian who works at the Museum of Cultural History in Auradon City. Daphne takes after both her parents, she is an adept piano player and a lover of both music and reading. I headcanon Anita as an author. She visited Belle and Adam's castle often as a child alongside her parents, Pongo and Pertida as they attended Council of Sidekick meetings. She became friends with Ben, Estella, and Antone during these visits and is very close with Ben.

Daphne takes care of Dude, Auradon's campus mutt, as well as the other various animals that live on the school grounds. Growing up with over 101 Dalmatians she has become adept at dog training and was allowed to bring two of them to campus with her, Biscuit and Buttercup, as she has raised them since they were puppies. She is hopelessly in love with Ben and has been since she was young, but would never let it ruin their friendship. Nor would she allow her crush to get in the way of her relationship with Audrey, who she is very grateful to be friends with as being friends with the King comes with some pressure as well. Daphne is still a commoner and feels out of place at times among the royal kids at Auradon. Luckily she has Audrey and Naomi to make her feel welcome and not excluded.

Plot Bunnies: I created Daphne because I refuse to believe Carlos got over his fear of dogs in the 30 seconds he did in D1. Daphne would be enlisted by Ben to help him slowly and naturally get over his fear. Since then she has evolved and is a main character in my D1 rewrite.

FC: Sierra McClain

Parent(s): Dr. Facilier

Bio: Acadea is the eldest daughter of Dr. Facilier. She is is given a lot of responsibility and pressure from Dr. Facilier to keep her sister's safe while living up to his expectations. While he may want what he thinks is best for her, it doesn't fit with what she wants or herself. Acadea wants to be free of her father's shadow.

She is fiercely protective of her family and will do anything to keep them safe, even if it means they hate her for it. Acadea is extremely cunning and enjoys messing with inhabitants of the Isle. Often scamming them with her Tarot readings and other scheme's. She is also considered one of the Isle's biggest threat of the next generation of villains and is know as the keeper and seller of Isle secrets. Acadea is bisexual.

Plot Bunnies: Acadea was one of the next wave of kids from the Isle to be brought over for Ben's proclamation after D1. On the Isle, she is always watching over her family, even the extended family. She is the only one who knows of Freddie and Uma being twins before they find out for themselves. She is considered the holder of secrets on the Isle and appears in many stories as a side character.

FC: Milo Manheim

Parent(s): Captain Hook

Bio: Killian (he/him) is the third youngest child and youngest son of Captain Hook. Often forgotten as the middle child, Killian feels as though he cannot measure up to any of his siblings. He's doesn't feel like he is as strong as Harriet, ruthless as Harry, nor his father's favorite like CJ. The fact that he cannot swim and has a fear of water make him an easy target for his father's ridicule.

Killian spends most of his time in the crow's nest of either his sister's or Uma's ship, looking at the stars and writing poetry. He and Nessa bond over feeling inadequate and wanting their parents approval. Killian uses his height to his advantage on the Isle, accompanied with a tough exterior, so he can appear more intimidating than he actually is. His love interest is Nessa.

Plot Bunnies: Killian was originally created after D1 and before D2 was announced. He was originally the only son of Captain Hook. When D2 was announced I decided instead of changing his parentage, I decided to keep Killian as the son of Captain Hook as I don't think it's unreasonable to assume Hook would have many children. I have various stories involving Nessa and Killian. 1. Captain Hook and Ursula are sworn enemies and Nessa and Killian go behind their backs to be together, Romeo and Juliet style hopefully without the dying. 2. Ness and Killian are chosen to join the next wave of kids going to Auradon for Ben's proclamation. 3. Included in a rewrite of the series that introduces more characters alongside the ones from the movies.

Bio: Nessa is the daughter (she/her) of Morgana from The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. All her life Nessa has had to listen to her mother go on and on about how her aunt Ursula was her grandmother's favorite. Because of this, Nessa has always been compared to her cousin Uma. While Ursula might not see how great Uma is, Morgana sure has. It has always been a competition between Ursula and Morgana about Nessa and Uma and who is the better child. Nothing Nessa could do ever seemed to be good enough for her mother.

Nessa never wanted to fight with her cousin, and since they were little Uma and Nessa made a pact to never let their mothers get in the way of their relationship, but it may be harder than they think. Nessa spends a lot of time with Uma's crew and the Hooks and has a close relationship with Killian Hook, the second youngest son of Captain Hook. She is also the cousin of Acadea, Celia, and Freddie Facilier as I headcanon Uma and Freddie to be twins separated by Ursula and Dr. Facilier. Her love interest is Killian.

Plot Bunnies: Nessa was originally created after D1 and before D2 was announced. She was originally the daughter of Ursula, named after Ursula's alter ego, Vanessa. When D2 was announced I changed Nessa to being the daughter of Ursula's sister Morgana but liked the name too much to change it. I have various stories involving Nessa and Killian. 1. Captain Hook and Ursula are sworn enemies and Nessa and Killian go behind their backs to be together, Romeo and Juliet style hopefully without the dying. 2. Parent(s): The Enchantress

Bio: Elise is the daughter (she/her) of the Enchantress from Beauty and the Beast. Depending on her backstory (of which there are two depending on the story), Elise's personality changes slightly. Growing up in Auradon, Elise is shy and a quiet girl who tends to keep to herself. She is always trying to fit in with those around her but feels like she doesn't belong. Growing up on the Isle, Elise is calculating and keeps to herself, she trusts most people about as much as she can throw them - which isn't much. Even to people she considers friends or allies she doesn't allow to get to close.

Plot Bunnies: 1. Elise was raised by Fairy Godmother as her adopted daughter. Though she was older than Jane, Elise felt like she wasn't treated the same as her younger "sister." It was like she was on the outside looking in. Fairy Godmother kept both Jane and Elise sheltered and close as they grew up, but Elise always had the suspicion that FG was more strict with her than she was with Jane. Even in school she never felt like she fit in with the other kids, sure she knew them, it's hard not to when everyone knows you as the headmaster's kid, but she felt she was never more than an acquaintance. When Elise is tasked with a school history project about her family's heritage - she learns there's more to her history than FG ever let her know and must decide if she will keep everything the way it was or if she'll follow in her mother's footsteps.

2. Elise grew up on the Isle of the Lost feeling jaded and betrayed. She and her mother never believed they belonged on the Isle, after all her mother's only crime was being the catalyst of Belle and Adam's happily ever after. So why was she thrown on the Isle with the rest of the villains? She should be living in Auradon with the Heroes! Instead, Elise loses her mother and is left to fend for herself. Fueled by anger and greif, Elise will do anything to get off the Isle and get revenge all of Auradon, starting with King Adam and his son.

Bio: Antone is the son (he/him) of Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast. Antone is a bit high strung and is known to fluster easily, something Estella uses against him often. He's a known rule follower and doesn't like spontaneity. Antone grew up in Belle and Adam's castle along side Estella and Ben. He likes to deconstruct and rebuild any items he is able to get his hands on and was known for deconstructing various toys and objects around the castle as a child. Antone's favorite to work on being clocks.

Being older than and not royal like Ben, Antone and Estella spent a lot of time together. Much like their father's, at times they butt heads and get on each others nerves, but when the chips are down, there are always there for one another. Antone is bisexual and his love interest is Estella.

Bio: Estella is the daughter (she/her) of Lumiere and Babette from Beauty and the Beast. Estella, much like her father, is a bit of a flirt but she mostly does it toward Antone as she loves to see him flustered - which is very easy to do. Estella grew up in Belle and Adam's castle along side Antone and Ben. She was known for her sweet tooth and sneaking into the castle kitchen to steal treats and take them back to her room.

Bio: Naomi (she/her) is the daughter of Tiana and Naveen of Princess and the frog. While her parents talents lean more toward the physical, Naomi's lies more in the mental, though that doesn't stop her from trying to follow in her parents footsteps. She is at the top of her class at Auradon Prep and considers herself to have two left feet. She tries to focus on both her work and relaxing/making time for herself like her parents have taught her but can find it hard to maintain the balance at times.

Parent(s): Hades

Bio: Elysia (she/her) is the youngest daughter of Hades from Hercules. Like her father she has both a temper and a sharp wit that can often get her into trouble. She is on the shorter side and tends to believe she can fight people much larger than her but this also leads people to underestimate her due to her size. Though she may not admit it she has a soft side, especially for Kinsey and the younger children of the Isle. Elysia is a lesbian and her love interest is Kinsey.

Plot Bunnies: In some stories, Elysia is an only child, and in others she is the younger sister of Haddie, the son of Hades. Very rarely she has Mal as her older sister. Elysia is one of the next wave of Isle kids to come to Auradon as part of Ben's proclamation. She can be seen as a side character in most stories.

Bio: Kinsey (she/her) is the youngest child of the King and Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. Growing up on the Isle doesn't make life easy, especially when your mother is the hot-headed Queen of Hearts. Kinsey learned very quickly in life to keep quiet and avoid her mother's wrath or else face the consequences. Because of this, both Quinn and Kinsey never stayed home very much and often took refuge with allies on the isle such as the Facilier's, the Pirates, or the children of Hades.

Out of the two, Kinsey is the one who spends the most time at home, trying to placate her mother and live up to her nonsensical expectations. She often keeps to herself, both socially and emotionally, and tries to please everyone around her. Luckily, she has some very close allies/friends on the Isle that would do anything to protect her. Kinsey is pansexual and her love interest is Elysia.

Plot Bunnies: Originally created as a single character (Ulani) then split into two in an effort to have more siblings in the Descendants world, Kinsey and her brother would be two of a small group of Isle kids to be brought over in the second wave of Ben's proclamation after D1. Bio: Quinn (he/him) is the eldest child of the King and Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. Quinn has no illusions as to who his mother is and knows she is uncapable of change. He tries to help Kinsey realize the same but as she is still young she can't see it yet. This does not stop Quinn from doing everything he can to protect her, even at the expense of himself and his safety. He would do anything to protect his sister and finds it hard to trust people, even the people he considers allies. Quinn is aromantic and asexual.

Bio: Winter (she/her) is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Florian. Growing up she spent a lot of time with the sons of the Huntsman as there were not many children in the palace. Winter was a rambunctious child and often found herself getting into trouble around the castle. It wasn't unusual to find her covered in dirt from playing outside at the end of the day.

Bio: Hunter (he/him) is younger twin son of the Huntsman from Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs. He is the more approachable of the twins and is often described as the friendlier of the two. As a kid, Hunter was very sickly and often had to stay inside or in bed instead of going out and playing, since then he has grown out of this but still has some health problems from time to time. He is Pansexual.

Parent(s): The Blue Fairy

Bio: Mazarine is the daughter (she/her) of the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio. One of my older OC's, Maz is in her 20's and works as her mother's apprentice on the Royal Council. The Blue Fairy is close with Fairy Godmother, resulting in Maz knowing FG and Jane very well. She even considers her a little sister. Maz is usually the one to be level-headed in stressful situations.

Plot Bunnies: Maz tends to be a side character in a lot of my ideas, either as someone to help Jane become more confident, travelling to the different regions of Auradon as a diplomat, working as a Guidance Councilor at Auradon Prep, or as a Royal Advisor for Ben.

Bio: Poppy is the daughter (she/her) of Flora from Sleeping Beauty. The unofficial "leader" of the three teen fairies, Poppy is the most vocal about things she is passionate about.

Plot Bunnies: Mostly a side character, Poppy was created to give Audrey a bigger support system after D1. In a more worldbuilding heavy story, Poppy is a vocal dissident of the magic ban in Auradon. Bio: Faline is the daughter (she/her) of Fauna from Sleeping Beauty. She is close with both Poppy and Tempest, the other children of the good fairies. Faline often spends her time in the forests, preferring the company of animals and the few people she is close to.

Who's the first AK that Mina befriends and why? Which AK is the last for Mina to warm up to, and why? And which AKs will she never be friends with?

The first is Chelsea. Mina is mildly impressed that she volunteered to room with a VK, after getting a wary reception from some other AKs. Chelsea confesses that she didn't get on with her previous roommate, so it didn’t seem like that a hard of a decision, and they talk about being disabled and bullied and left behind and arbitrary AK social norms and hey, Chelsea’s funny, and actually gets Mina’s sharp sense of humour, and with healthy plants and wildlife being so alien to her Mina is more than happy to hear all her swamp facts and holy shit, she can do magic, that’s badass and -

oh. They’re friends. Wow. It happens a lot more naturally than either of them anticipated. They’re very sweet together. I love them. They have sleepovers at each other’s houses in the school holidays, because even by the first one they’re so used to and comfortable sharing a bedroom. Chelsea loves playing with the Foxworth pets. She visits the shelter and helps Mina sometimes, and Mina visits New Orleans and the swamp to watch Chelsea learn magic.

I think she'd get along pretty well with most canon AKs. They’re all generally good people, except Chad and to an extent, mostly formerly Audrey. Chad’s always come across as worse to Audrey than me, so his character growth would be slower and more begrudging and he plays a minor antagonist to Mina and other VKs; he’s too afraid of his parents, Ben and Mal making him face more serious consequences for his actions than the discipline he’s already got to try anything really bad, though. He is fundamentally a coward whose bark is much worse than his bite. And everyone can see that. He’s too pathetic, unintelligent and uncreative to be an effective bully. A minority of other AKs who share his malice aren’t, however, and not all of them change their ways. There are many AKs that Mina just never clicks with or warms up to because that’s how people work, with no such malice or judgment necessary.

It takes her and Terry surprisingly long to become proper friends. That’s why even after the time skip, I haven’t described them as friends in their bios. The reason is that I specifically created him to be Mina’s foil. Their personalities and roles are as different as can be, and she has trust issues and he’s bad at compromise, among other traits and attitudes that, by design, rub each other the wrong way. They both regret how awkward this is for Chelsea and want to be friends. But they just don’t get each other. Resolving this impasse is the result of their character development, particularly Terry’s, who’s more invested in befriending Mina. It requires him to slow down, acknowledge his flaws, listen to and learn from someone else’s perspective and put effort into building something despite knowing that it won’t be perfect. Mina is isn’t perfect, and neither is he. Neither is their friendship. But it’s still good. Yeah. Still good.

The last AK Mina warms up to is Audrey. Audrey has spent the six months since the movie having a big arc of unlearning her prejudices and callous, competitive, selfish worldview, which has involved coming to be on good terms with Mal, glad and grateful that she makes her best friend happy, and quite a messy breakup with Chad due to her no longer respecting him being a dick or liking that he enables and encourages her being a bitch. He swings between being bitter and desperate for her to take him back. She’s just tired of him. By Cotillion, her family is fracturing too: Leah refuses to change her views on VK no matter how unpopular they get or how much the whole rest of her family disagrees with her, and Aurora finally demands that if she can’t be trusted to look after all her citizens, she has to abdicate the throne. Phillip backs her up. In Audrey’s mind, Leah is her beloved, doting grandmother who’s always been there for her (a little critical and controlling, maybe, but all in the name of helping Audrey be everything she needs to be, right? There’s totally no toxicity in that dynamic that she also needs to unpack now, right? Please?) But… though it breaks her heart, she agrees with her parents. Leah is not taking any of this well. So Audrey’s under a lot of stress at the moment. Mina observes this from the sidelines and realizes that Audrey is not a shallow prissy princess/popular girl stereotype, but a Person with Feelings. Feelings about relatable stuff like a family member being awful. Now that, a VK can’t help but sympathize with. They have their first really open and honest conversation after that when Mina steps in to offer the appreciated sentiment of ‘you’re not alone and you’ll get through this, keep going’ and the less appreciated promise to sic her dogs on her grandma if she wants. Then Audrey ends up turning to the Core Four and Uma’s crew for empathy and experienced help processing and healing from Leah’s years of emotional abuse and thus forges a much stronger bond with all of them. Leah is forced to give up the throne, don’t worry.

It actually takes Mina longer to officially forgive Mal than to enter Audrey’s good books. She really does hold a grudge!

The lunch was quiet and tense, but the little food that Chadwick got was good. Barely able to fill full him, but he ain't gonna say anything, just like always. His father was called in early and had to leave, duty Called. Chadwick tried his hardest to put the collar under his shirt, not like it helped him much. But people didn't stare so much at least. That was until he decided to leave too, carrying his tray to the window, a hand came throwing his plate all over the floor. A loud laughter striked from every direction. ,,Aww, is our little Cindy going to cry? Boo, boo... Well? Aren't you going to pick that up? The glass won't peace itself back together to form your glass slipper, honey. Let me tell ya, yous magic already left ya." Snarked someone behind him. Chad was furious, first Audrey, then the collar, the food and now this?!

,,Oh really? Sure! There we go-" He picked up pieces of the glass from the floor not caring if it's going to cut him. ,,Turn around, bend over, I'll show you where my shoe fits!" He warned, as you could tell, the others weren't happy about his answer.

That's how he found himself in the back of an alley, broken nose and blood all over his body, plus a purple swollen eye, just to be sure he would remember his lesson. He couldn't even defend himself, the collar stopped him from doing so. He just laid here and took it, like a frickin rackdoll.

He laid there for some time before someone found him, that someone was unfortunately the one and only dwarf and boyfriend of Carlos, princess Evie and Jane.

,,Chad? Chad, oh my god, are you okay? Can you hear me?" Named one opened his one functional eye to see long brown hair and cute nose with glasses on top of it, Doug. Fuck. Chad internally groaned, he knew that Doug wouldn't just let him go after finding him like that, nearly passed out in a back alley.

Smaller man helped him sit up, making blond whimper, his arm is probably broken, ouch. He looked up into deep green eyes.

That's how he ended up in hospital, his arm was not broken, luckily, but his eye got infected and he won't be able to see on it for at least another month. Again, fuck. Why does this keep getting worse? What had he done to deserve this?

Luckily they gave him something to numb the pain, numbing his brain too.

,,W-Why do you think- that people wear glasses? Why? If not to take deadly aim?! Is- Do they want to kill meh?" He slurred out tiredly.

Doug was sitting on a chair next to him.

,,No, Chad. I don't think so." He chuckled at him.

,,Hey, D. How big were Clifford's parents if- if- to have a puppy 50ft high?" He breathed out looking over at his company.

,,I don't know, Chad. That's not a question I would need an answer for..." He laughed.

Chadwick crumbled his eyebrows together, looking like if he was thinking very hard about something.

,,I thought your prime orgy thing was to answer questions as sooner as pastable though." He whispered after a longer while. And this time, since the older one was currently drinking his water spit out and choked on it, unable to stiff his enjoyment any longer, nearly dieing from his laughter. ,,There are so many wrong things in that one sentence!" He commented between his breathes.

It was nice, a little bonding time among two young boys. If you didn't know them you would have probably though they were two good friends.

But no... Their friendship was long gone, Dough moved on, he got tired of Chads poor excuses for not coming to hangouts and his lying. He found himself someone better... He forgot about their earlier friendship... But Chad didn't, couldn't.

He still remember those long nights when the two of them sneak out from their room to lay on the roof staring at the stars, talking about all the things they will one day do. Talked about their dreams, their future loves and spouses, having fun. He remembers how Doug helped him with his homeworks and how they were learning together, reading books to each other and fantasizing. He remember going into museums together, thrugh different expositions. From arts about renesance to interactive animal show. They would always buy something to eat, something to drink.

He misses it, after all this time, all those years, he is still hoping for all of this to come back, to bring it back. But it's gone, it's long gone.

He remembered how it ended, when it ended. They were in 6th grade, they were planning to go for lunch in some bookstore and then come back to school. That day, Chadwick decided, he will tell Doug what he feels. It was his first love.

Surprisingly Doug reacted positively, he said yes! Sadly everything went to shit, when he went to tell his father. He never saw him so angry. His veins were popping out, arms crossed with his fists clenched, his eyes dark and squinted, his teeth gritted out, sharp, like a wild wolf would.

He didn't leave the castle for something like a weak, and he didn't have anything to tell his dear boyfriend what'd happened.

When he came back to Auradon, Doug didn't believe him. He thought Chad just played him like an old man's kazoo. Chad never felt so hurt before, he tried to explain himself, but Doug didn't listen, for him, the prince Chadwick would always be a liar. As it always was, and it always will be...

He remembers Dougs last words... As hurtful as they might be.

Why should I have a heavy heart? Why should I start to break in pieces? Why should I Fall apart for you?

That night Chad cried. He didn't know what he did, or what to do next. He was stuck.

So for the moment.. Chad just opened his mouth weakly, looking away with tears in his eyes. A quiet whisper like a snake biting into the silence, Chadwicks words, broken.

,,I never meant to make it such a mess... I'm sorry."
