September approaching…I feel I owe myself a brief respite of leisure and no rushing around. I can't face the dead reality. I want rainy days, lanterns and a hundred moons twining in dark leaves, music spilling out and echoing yet inside my head.
Sylvia Plath, from a letter to Aurelia Plath written c. August 1951

Jegulus dates are mostly at home, quiet nights in with home-cooked dinner and boardgames. They're James' one calm activity. Reg likes the quiet and James likes that he's successfully absorbing Reg into his household. Sirius is inevitably third-wheeling - he lives there too, okay, you can't make him stay in another room.
Jily dates are going to all the cheapest restaurants and attractions in muggle Birmingham. Its supposed to be grounding and exciting. Normal fun that isnt exactly normal for either of them. Lily likes to keep it all within her means, at least early on.
Regulily dates are for some reason mostly driving lessons. First it was for Lily to practice after she first got her license, then she started teaching Reg. It's nice to just talk on a long drive and go sight seeing at whatever little village they end up in.

AUGUST. the scent of blackberry bushes. rustling pages at the library. stifling humidity. the caffeine-thrum of sweetened black tea in the early afternoon. unread messages. stealing threadbare old shirts to sleep in. rose bushes dripping with scent. smudged ink. the awkward weight of an umbrella you might not need stuffed in your book bag. sticky thighs. reading in bed at night while rain is pouring down. freshly baked plum cake. a restless hunger for change.

Frank Fontaine is my beautiful short fat bear wife if she told me to kill myself I would thank him for looking my way and thinking I'm worthy of being spoken to and then fling myself out of the nearest window, my suicide note begging that Fontaine is innocent and no charges should be pressed

June, July, August. Every day, we hear their laughter. I think of the painting by van Gogh, the man in the chair. Everything wrong, and nowhere to go. His hands over his eyes.

Jegulily complement each other really well in their types of intelligence.
Regulus is smart in that he's knowledgeable, especially about obscure and arcane stuff, but struggles to deviate from the way he's been taught things work.
Lily is smart in that she's innovative and good at applying information in ways other people haven't thought of yet, but she doesnt have a large background of information to work with. Lily and Reg really benefit from each other's strengths when doing projects together.
James' main skill is processing information. He learns new things easily without needing to give them much thought, and is good at instinctively applying it in the moment. He has sound practical judgement and is very decisive, which is useful when Reg and Lily are overthinking.
