One of several wardrobe pieces gifted to her by her cousin for the excursion to Dorne, Aurelia has selected a sage green outfit embellished with colorful flowers, foliage, and other flora native to Dorne. Though the cut of the neckline dips low and her midriff is exposed -- featured in many of the sets, courtesy of Guinevere -- Aurelia has donned a matching shaw to cover her shoulders... though the see-through fabric does little to assisit.  Freckles now prominent from the Dornish sun, Aurelia’s makeup is somewhat simple. Her lips have been reddened ever so slightly, and her eyelids brushed with the gold and blush shades of a Sunspear sunset. Her hair has been kept simple as well, a small braid keeping half of her hair off her shoulders, and the rest in lose curls. Aurelia wears a golden Lannister Lion necklace, as well as traditional Dornish earrings that match her dress for the evening.

Trails of Cold Steel (2 & 3) - Easter Egg and Trivia Rambles

I just reached the first chapter of Cold Steel 3 and took a look around in the new the student dorm, where a certain sculpture in Aurelia's room caught my eye.

It's a good example that I specifically love about the series (especially since Cold Steel) how it sprinkles all kind of trivial dialogues and Easter eggs that hints some subtle background story about the characters in this world.

At first glance, one would think that the principal's private dorm room is filled with ordinary pomp and splendor copy&paste decoration. However, as my memories of Cold steel 2 were still fresh, this striking lion statue looked immediately familiar.

It was Clara's semester project, which she worked on for the majority of the time in Cold Steel 2!

During the epilogue part in the evening, after Thors Military Academy has been liberated, you can find her in the art classroom, where she's completely chill and just has finished her semester project, where you can see it turned out to be a nice-looking lion statue.

The following day after the party, there is a sidequest (the one called "Junk Wanted") where you have to gather all kinds of unwanted junk for the store owner Brandon who intended to sell stuff on the flea market. Clara was one of the donors who gave her finished sculpture away, much to Gaius' and Rean's astonishment.

This means that, whether directly or through detours, Clara's lion sculpture eventually ended up in Aurelia possession at some point, which is why you can now see it in her room a year later.

As a fine lady, Aurelia surely appreciates true art and had a good eye for Clara's craftsmanship!

I wonder how much she paid for it? Did Brandon get a good deal out of it? And will Clara ever find out about this appreciation? Not like she would be the type who cares, lol.

I finished Cold Steel 2 just a couple of weeks ago and jumped right into Cold Steel 3, so I'm not sure if they will refer to it later.

In any case, such quests and those kind of easter eggs are one of many main reasons why I love this series so much, since they add a lot of depth to every single character. Even if the details seem minor at first glance and even if most of them are side characters who are not an essential part of the main plot, their scenes and dialogues strongly contributes to my personal gaming experience and feelings I have for this series and its vivid world.

Edit: Since the game already placed a few of those lions here and there, it's more evident that it's just one of the game assets that have been reused for decoration purposes. So much about the storytelling part, lol. BUT I still like that aha moment since I knew from which scene this asset originated from.

My One Piece OCs Part. 1

Since @supermarine-silvally and I became excellent friends, I thought I would share my One Piece OCs with them. I'm unsure when I would post pictures of them because I'm still learning to draw.

The way I came up with my OCs is weird. I had totally different ideas for them until one day, while working on earth science homework, a sudden idea came to me: "What if Little Red Riding Hood was a pirate in One Piece? And what if she was shipped with Portgas D. Ace in the Survivor AU?"

So, I revamped my MC OC so she could be what TV Tropes called a Red Riding Hood Replica. Of course, I couldn't just stop with Little Red. No, I had a fairy tale theme going on! I had to add Goldilocks and some others you might recognize.

I never thought I would get into One Piece, let alone make fairy tale-based One Piece OCs, but here I am, LOL. Anyway, this post is long and will contain some spoilers for anyone who are on the East Blue Saga. So read at your own risk.

I plan to write fanfics about these characters after I flesh them out (and the story) but feel free to ask me or some of my OCs some questions.

Right now, I just want to post my main ones. I hope you like ‘em, especially you Hadley!

Edit 4/22/2024: I just had to touch up some things and change the name of Blanchette's mother. I see her as more as a Sylvia than a Helene.

"Red Hood" Delahaye Blanchette

Blanchette's surname was taken from my favorite pirate Jacquotte Delahaye, while I got her first name from Charles Marelle's rendition of the fairy tale "The True History of Little Goldenhood". In that fairy tale, Charles gives Little Red Riding Hood a real name–Blanchette.

Blanchette was born in Porto, a pirate haven that was the capital city of Rara Island. She was the result of a fling between Delahaye Sylvia and Crocodile, who stayed in Porto for a few months shortly after watching Roger's execution. Crocodile left before Blanchette was born, leaving her to be raised by Sylvia. She didn't know who her father was until she was six. Sylvia explained that Crocodile left to pursue his ambitions. Needless to say, that would cause Blanchette to resent her father.

As her mother worked several jobs to support them, Blanchette spent a lot of time with her grandmother, Maria, who told her stories about her adventures as a pirate. These stories captivated Blanchette so much that she was inspired to become a pirate when she was older. Blanchette engaged in mischief on the streets like many other kids in Porto did but didn't have many friends, as her peers would either avoid her or make fun of her for having a dark blue-gray pigment around her right eye known as Nevus of Ota. One time, she was about to fight a girl who called her 'Black Eye' but was stopped by another girl named Aurelia, who would become her best friend and later sister (they are sisters in the same way Ace, Sabo, and Luffy are brothers).

Discovering that they shared dreams of becoming pirates, Blanchette and Aurelia would steal money and other needed resources when they set sail together. This is how Blanchette got her Devil Fruit powers, stealing what she thought was an ordinary pineapple because she was hungry. The two sisters would borrow money from hustlers willing to bet on anything, from throwing a rock the farthest to fighting other kids.

When she turned 15, Blanchette began participating in underground street fights to help support her mother. Due to her skills with brass knuckles and Devil Fruit powers, she quickly rose to become a renowned street fighter. Some pirate captains who witnessed her fights even wanted her to join their crew, but she would turn them down because she would rather start her own pirate crew than join someone else’s.

One day, Blanchette was coming home from a match. She headed to Maria's house to give her some flowers she had bought as a surprise gift. On her way, she met a wolf mink pirate named Grimm, who tried to convince her to join his crew, the Cutthroat Pirates. When she declined, Grimm told Blanchette she'd missed an opportunity but respected her decision and walked away to meet his crew.

Once she reached Maria's house, Blanchette entered inside only to find her grandmother lying on the floor, bleeding heavily from her wounds. She tries to get some help, but Maria advises her not to as she'll be dead by the time help arrives. She manages to tell Blanchette that the man who killed her was Grimm. Since that tragic day, Blanchette has been rigorously training herself to be strong enough to take down the Cutthroat Pirates.

At 18, Blanchette would join the Spade Pirates three months after Helene died of an illness. Although she had planned to start her own pirate crew, she was so charmed by Ace that she decided to accept his offer to join his crew (It helps that Ace wanted to help Blanchette get her revenge on the Cutthroat Pirates). Little did Blanchette know, she was going to be in for one hell of a ride with this crew lol.

"Goldilocks" O'Malley Aurelia

DOB: May 6, 1500 | Gender: Female | Age: 22 (pre-timeskip) / 24 (post-timeskip) | Devil Fruit: Rozu Rozu no Mi | A Swordswoman of the Spade Pirates and, subsequently, the Whitebeard Pirates | Voiceclaims: Kikuko Inoue (Japanese), Cherami Leigh (English, Funimation)

Blanchette’s older sworn sister, Aurelia. Her surname was taken from the Irish pirate Gráinne O’Malley. Her first name is a Latin female name that means golden, fitting for a character loosely based on Goldilocks.

Aurelia was born somewhere in the South Blue to pirates but spent most of her formative years on a pirate ship. Her parents were starting to see see her as a burden, so they decided to abandon her in the East Blue in Rare’s capital city when she was only 7, lying that they would pick her up later. After spending a long time in the city, Aurelia realized that her parents were never coming back.

She began living on the busy streets of Porto, stealing food and other resources needed to survive. She even attempted to rob others, which came with mixed results. At some point, Aurelia befriended another girl named Blanchette, whom she persuaded to not beat up her bully. They would become the best friends, hanging out and getting into all sorts of trouble like the little delinquents they were.

When Aurelia was 11, she came across a cottage. She looked through the windows and seeing that no one was there, she went inside to check for any food. To her delight, she found three bowls of her favorite porridge. She tasted the largest bowl, which was too hot, then the medium bowl, which was too cold. Finally, she tried the third, which was just the right temperature, and finished it all. Afterward, she searched the fridge for more food and found a strange red apple. Remembering the saying that beggars can't be choosers, she ate it without realizing it was a Devil Fruit.

Feeling rather tired, she decides to head upstairs to the bed chambers. She tries to lie down on all three beds. The first bed felt too hard, the second bed was too soft, but the third bed was just right, so she slept in that one.

However, a family of three lived in this house. When they returned from their walk, they discovered someone had eaten their porridge and the Devil Fruit they intended to sell. They went upstairs and saw Aurelia sleeping in one of their beds. Aurelia is awakened by a boy her age, Orsino Leo, who asks why she ate lunch. Aurelia explains that she was desperate and hadn’t eaten anything in a few days. When Mr. Orsino asked where her parents were, Aurelia told them they had abandoned her four years ago. Taking pity on the poor girl, Mr. and Mrs. Orsino decided to adopt Aurelia as their own.

Everything was going well for Aurelia, as she finally had a home and a family that would take care of her. As she got older, however, she started to feel overshadowed by Leo, who was gifted in the arts. This drove a wedge between her and Leo, as Aurelia felt her new parents loved Leo more than her.

At 19, Aurelia would join the Spade Pirates alongside Blanchette. She saw it as a chance to make her parents proud by becoming the richest pirates in the world. Her dream is to accumulate enough treasure that she can sell it for money and use her earnings to provide for her family.

omg omg omg i’m so obsessed with leander x reader, please could there be more??? maybe where they all talk it out and the parents really see how inlove they are and gives them their blessing. So now they don’t have to hide the relationship and everytime Leander and Eris visit, she jumps in his arms and hug him. And her siblings are like ” ew we get it. ” and reader says ” i don’t even care enough to talk back, I love him too much”

and she realizes it’s the first time she says I love you to Leander and she blushes and he looks at her with so much love and he says i love you too, and leanders mother and feyre just look at them with awe. Even rhys and eris seem happy for them, and all the cousins just make fun of them.

Political meetings surprisingly became one of your favorite times of the year. Not because you particularly cared about court relations but because it was an excuse to see Leander. You pinned your curls back with pins of rubies, donning the blood-red dress. Aurelia had come bounding in and out of your room, opening your closets and jewelry boxes. You didn’t even care about the mess she was making this time, your only focus was on getting to see your boyfriend. It still felt unreal to you that you could call him that openly, that you could scream to every corner of Prythian that Leander Vanserra was yours and no one else’s. 

“Darling,” Your father knocks on your door, and creaks it open with your permission. “Are you ready to go?” You stand from your vanity and turn to face your father, whose eyes shine like flecked starlight. He cups your cheeks in both of his hands, “You look so beautiful, just like your mother. You kids are growing so fast.” He shakes his head, looking at your mother who appears behind him arm and arm with Nyx and Aurelia. 

“What is taking the two of you so long,” Your mother drawls, raising an eyebrow at her mate. 

“Nothing dearest.” He turns, “We’re ready now, yes?” He looks at you and you nod. Nyx releases himself from your mother’s hold and links his arm with yours. 

“Come now sister, we mustn’t keep lover boy waiting too long.” Nyx mocks in your ear, You see Aurelia snickering behind her hand. 

“You’re just angry you’re all alone Nyxie. Maybe you should finally settle down,” You taunt back, nudging him in the ribs with your elbow. 

“And leave the ladies of Prythian to grieve my absence. No thank you, little sister, I won’t be shackling myself anytime soon,” Nyx sends you a feral grin that makes you roll your eyes before his night-drenched power washes over you. You appear in the crowded living room of the townhouse, all your cousins and aunts spread out left to their own devices. Everyone is here tonight, even your Uncle Azriel’s mate who doesn’t usually attend court meetings. You sit with the twins as you wait the tortuous hour for the High Family of Autumn to arrive. You feel the spark of power and you turn to see Eris, his mate, and both of his children. Leander’s eyes immediately find yours and it takes every fiber in your being to stop yourself from jumping into his arms. You let him say his introductions and your parents take their leave before you stand to rise and he wraps you up in his arms, lifting you off of your feet with one strong movement. You spy Cordelia silently saying her hellos to Pandora over his shoulder, and you’re just about to say something when Leander pulls your face down to press a kiss to your lips. 

“I’ve missed you, Fawn.” He mumbles, barely pulling himself away from you long enough to mutter the words. He’s wearing Night Court black tonight, which makes you feel like a thousand birds are unrestrained in your chest. Leander smiles at you and you want to swallow it whole. Not seeing each other for months clearly has taken its toll on both of you. 

“I’ve missed you too Leo,” You smile against his mouth, ready to kiss him again, when you hear your brother miming throwing up so hard he loses his balance and almost spills his drink all over Cassandra’s dress. You level Nyx with your fiercest glare, but it doesn’t do much. 

“We get it already, you both are very much deeply infatuated with each other, can we please move on now?” Cassandra pipes leaning back against the couch she’s chosen as a sanctuary for the night.  Leo’s cheeks turn a lovely shade of pink which makes you want to push him until they light cherry red. 

“I don’t even care,” You cup his cheeks in your hands before brushing back the russet curls that fell into his eyes. “I love him too much to be bothered by your teasing,” You throw back over your shoulder before you even realize your words.  It’s your turn to blush when the gravity of what you just said has hit you. Leander stares at you like you’ve just hung the moon as he smiles at you like sunshine. 

“You love me?” He questions cupping the side of your jaw with one warm hand, his magic stirring under his skin. 

“Well, I thought that would be obvious,” a feline grin splits across your lips as he rushes forward to kiss you again. 

“I love you too,” The words pour over you like melted chocolate, warming your entire body from the inside out. You’re lost in caramel eyes when Nyx starts again with the aggressive gagging. This time it makes you laugh, and you tuck your face into the crook of Leander’s neck breathing in the smell of cinnamon and allspice before you join the rest of your family.

Sooo... jellyfish.

You may have seen this video circulating recently. The original was posted on Facebook by Scuba Ventures Kavieng; this is a colour-corrected edit [link to the original in the post source, because Tumblr is stupid about external links]. It caused a small stir on the internet after being tentatively identified as Chirodectes maculatus, a monotypic genus known only from a single small specimen captured and filmed in 1997, off the coast of Queensland. (That footage is sadly not available on the Internet.)

If you know a little about jellies, you’ll recognise this as a box jellyfish or Cubozoan. Box jellies are wonderfully interesting animals, and differ from the more familiar “true jellyfish” or Scyphozoa in a number of ways:

a more developed nervous system allowing more complex behaviour, including the capacity to learn from experience

true eyes (with retinas, corneas, lenses, the whole shebang)

the ability, unlike true jellies which mostly drift, to actively propel themselves around obstacles and towards prey

...a concerning trait in an animal most notorious for being extremely fatal to humans. (c.f. Wasp Jellyfish, Viper Jellyfish, the delightfully named Common Kingslayer, Irukandji*) * sting symptoms include excruciating pain and “a feeling of impending doom”, and let’s raise a glass to the researcher who first documented Irukandji syndrome by deliberately testing it on himself, a lifeguard, and his nine-year old son: “Eschewing animal models and laboratory studies (not to mention all common sense), Barnes took the two specimens, and proceeded directly to human experimentation.” please read the article linked in my reblog, it’s hilarious. (A lack of self-preservation is a trait apparently common to all jellyfish scientists - the 2005 article on Chirodectes maculatus notes that it failed to sting, or adhere to, the hand and forearm of an incautious volunteer.)

The point is that box jellies are deeply, deeply cool in every respect except basic body plan, which goeth thusly:

....and while many cubozoans find that four is not enough and multiply to get 4n tentacles, that’s about it. Ultimately, what you end up with is still just a translucent jelly box with string hanging from each corner, like a very sad, very dangerous piñata.

Compare scyphozoans / "true jellies": [top to bottom: Pacific sea nettles Chrysaora fuscescens aka windows screensaver, barrel jellyfish Rhizostoma pulmo, sea cauliflower Cephea cephea, moon jelly Aurelia aurita, lion's mane jellyfish Cyanea capillata]

They may not be all that bright, but by god they’re fancy.

Now let's see the box jellies: [Bonaire banded box jellyfish, which rejoices in the name of Tamoya ohboya; sea wasp Chironex fleckeri; Copula sivickisi; Tripedalia cystophora]

And by cubozoan standards, it is big: according to the diver, "a bit bigger than a soccer ball" (which have a ~21cm diameter), which would make it larger than the 15cm in the original species description.

Where am I going with all this? My point, dear jelly lovers, is that Chirodectes maculatus took a body plan like an inverted plastic bag and made it into the fanciest, most ostentatious chunk of jelly that ever wobbled the seven seas.

Look at it. It’s like a 1970s lampshade set off to colonise the ocean. And isn't it just fabulous.

hey i was translating one of the tcfsv's chapters and got real curious about how you came up with names and/or superpowers of siren, jester, iceman/thanatos, arson (her powers), and 404 and why did you choose the name daedalus for sam and aurelion for foolish? i tried to split aurelion into aura and lion and it didnt make sense so i hope its fine to ask :D

oh man it's been a while since I've been asked this question. I'll just go in order of the characters you mentioned!

siren - I'd seen wilbur be given siren powers/the power to compel people with his voice in a few other fics before I came up with clinic, and in hush now specifically his villain name itself was also 'siren' so I straight up just took it from that lol

jester - because of how often quackity changes his minecraft skins for bits, I once saw a comic a longggg time ago about c!quackity on the dsmp being a shapeshifter. I always thought that was a really cool concept, so when I was trying to come up with his powers I thought shapeshifting would be really interesting! as far as the name I don't really know how I came up with that? quackity's just goofy and cracks a lot of jokes so I thought a clown/theatrical kind of name would be fitting, so I came up with jester and really liked it

iceman/thanatos and arson - I came up with iceman as jack's name after I came up with arson for niki's. I really liked the name arson for niki's initial villain name because I wanted to call back to c!niki burning down the l'mantree during doomsday, but I knew I wanted her to have water powers both bc of her merling origin on origins smp and also I just thought a waterbending kind of vibe fit her. so then I knew I wanted her and jack to be a duo, so I was struggling to come up with a name for jack until I thought "what if I made him and niki have opposite powers and I made a joke about iceland and greenland" and thus we got iceman lmao. then later on I decided I wanted both of them to switch their names after their near death experience (arson to nemesis and iceman to thanatos) so I thought thanatos fit jack because of how close he came to death, since thanatos is the personification of death in greek mythology. and I wanted him to have a greek mythology name because niki was changing to her syndicate name, nemesis, which is also from greek myth

404 - I'd seen 404 used for george before in other hero aus. it's a play on his user 'georgenotfound' bc 404 is a not found error you get with computers. I just thought it was fun. as far as his powers, I wanted them to be connected to sleep because of the running bit/eventual lore of him sleeping through everything on the dsmp, but I wanted it to be more creative than just him knocking people out. I've always been fascinated with dreams and the kind of fantasy powers you can do with them, so I decided dream manipulation could be really interesting to explore with him.

daedalus - in greek mythology daedalus is an inventor who is made to build the labyrinth by king minos to trap the minotaur, and is later imprisoned in the labyrinth by minos with his son icarus. during their escape with wings made of wax, icarus dies, leaving daedalus alone. I just thought the themes of being imprisoned by your own creation and losing the last thing you love during your escape matched a lot of c!sam's character on the dsmp especially with his warden role and how he's a redstone inventor. I wanted to tie it in a bit to his story in clinic, and overall I just thought it was an interesting connection to draw.

aurelion - yeah this is probably the most confusing name since it's not a real word technically. aurelion is a play on the name aurelia, and aurelia is derived from the word aurum which is the latin word for gold. c!foolish is often designed as being made of gold or close to it given his totem skin, so I just wanted to connect him to gold somehow because I thought it fit. so aurelia as a name means gold, and I just took that and made it sound more like a superhero name by changing it to aurelion

Tullia: Hmm - I imagine her as something like a lion - whatever the Palaven equivalent is. Runs the household, is deeply protective of her family, and willing to tear people limb from limb if a situation calls for it.

Aurelia: I had to think about this one, but settled on the Palaven-equivalent of a raven. Smart, with a very long memory, loyal to those who deserve her loyalty, and has a flair for the artistic. No, she doesn't collect shiny baubles, but she does make beautiful art.

🥪 On a scale from ‘burns water’ to ‘5 course menu’ how well can your OC cook?

Tullia: She's a good cook and enjoys doing it! Definitely not a gourmet chef or anything, but she makes solid comfort food and pre-war, was the one who cooked the holiday meals.

Aurelia: She can cook - not as well as her mother can, but Tullia made sure all of her children knew the basics of cooking. Aurelia is someone who would prefer to pick up a frozen pizza to toss into the oven than focus on creating a fancy meal from scratch, because that means more time to pursue her hobbies!

🎨 Does your OC have any craft skill, as a hobby or profession? If so which?

Tullia: Tullia plays the drums, but has never tried to make anything more of it than simply amusing herself in the basement or guest room where she keeps her drum set.

Aurelia: By day, Aurelia works as an architect, but she is a skilled artist, and frequently draws digitally, and by hand, and also regularly does paintings to sell at charity auctions. She writes well, having published a book about the work she's done on Tuchanka; a collaboration with Urdnot Quash, the man who rescued her in Paris on the final day of the war.
