Austin is infiltrating my dreams and in order to rid myself of him, i have come up with this blurb - based loosely on a dream i had (Discord knows what's up). you're welcome.
if anyone could see the way you looked at him, they would know
they would know exactly how you felt about him: in love
based on the fact that you'd been in the same friend group since your freshman year, and now as a junior in college you were allowing yourself to feel these things...
it was more painful than pretending those feelings didn't exist
Austin was infinitely charming, and unfortunately nice
but he wasn't a push over, and he had a good sense of morals
lucky for him, he was also attractive
(for you, this meant there were other people on campus with these same types of feelings for him)
however, on a rainy day in November, you two were wound up in the dorm by yourselves
you were each much closer with others in the friend group, so the odds of you two hanging out alone seemed almost impossible in your mind
but when you were changing in the middle of the living room with your favorite show on, rain and lighting and thunder coming down outside
Austin walks in
"dude, i'm changing"
"dude, you're in the living room."
"i live here"
"i'm not leaving"
and he sat on the couch as you slid the shirt over your head, face turning red as you sat down next to him
"how did you even get in?"
"i have my ways"
you two sat in silence for a while, show running on tv
eventually more natural conversation came to you both, the changing incident long forgotten by the time the third episode ran through
he was asking about getting a haircut, and how your classes were going, and why you even liked this show
and you were asking about what he would rather watch, and what you guys were gonna eat for dinner, and about a dream you had as a little kid owning a farm
you weren't sure what topic led to it, or if anything led to it at all
his hand was on your cheek and you stopped mid-sentence
Austin was kissing you, and soon enough you were kissing him too
you remember that moment, the moment that began what was you and Austin, as you are on the FaceTime call with him
you are sitting on your couch, your significant other making dinner in the next room
Austin is outside in the sun, his significant other and child playing in the background somewhere
he's telling you about the farm he lives on, how he can't believe how well it's been doing lately and that you should come see it in the fall
you smile and nod, agreeing that seeing him and the farm would be a great idea
(but you remember the conversation, the kiss that followed, years ago in college where you wanted the farm in the fall with a child to run around and play.
"it sounds like a really good idea, you know. maybe we'll have a farm and a kid or two one day")
Austin says he has to go, that dinner needs to get started
your significant other tells you dinner is done
Austin winks at you as you two end the call
and you're left feeling like you'll never be able to forget that moment on that rainy day in college so many years ago
