I read through the works of @dresden-syndrome and worked up some things about the lore, mainly concerning comrade Erhardt and Radím:

Radím has heavy Czech accent when speaking German. Despite his best efforts for proper pronunciation, the accent still peaks through whenever he speaks.

Günther finds it very cute, though he would never openly admit it. Atleast not to Radím. Instead he teases him about it. Especially his heavy R's.

 Prior to his capture, Radím wanted to learn German as part of a plan to some day escape to Western Germany. The irony of his current situation makes him feel bitter. Now he’s learning German to communicate with his captor. To better serve the regime he worked so hard against. Knowing that he will never get more than a few feet away from Gunther, let alone getting away this god forsaken country.

 Radím dreamed about learning English and maybe make his way to USA. However there wasn't much opportunity in Czechoslovakia to learn English. In this political minefield, attempting to learn it instantly got you put on a watchlist. As a counter-revolutionary he didn't want to draw more attention to him so he didn't pursue it.

The top choices for second language in Czechoslovakia were Russian or German. Radím learned a bit of both but focused more on German since he saw it as his potential ticket across the iron curtain.

German grammar has so many opportunities to make a mistake. Der/Die/Das, mein/meine. Not to mention the pronunciation and the unforgiving word order. This basically gives Günther a green card to punish his pet anytime he feels like it. This way its more painful for Radím because he knows this could have been avoided.

Russian is the main language used across the soviet union. So naturally, Günther as a government official must know it. He can both and read and understand Russian pretty well. He can speak Russian too but only does so when necessary, since its pretty tough for a German to speak Slavic language.

Because of that, he can understand quite a bit from what Radím is saying when he speaks Czech. Most of the time he pretends he pretends he doesn't. Its a wonderful opportunity to peek into the thoughts of his prisoner.

Günther probably also knows some Czech basics since he worked in Czechoslovakia. Its a neighbouring country and lot of Czechs and Slovaks work in Eastern Germany, since its seen as a more developed country.

Radím suspects that his owner knows a few words or phrases in Czech. He avoids swearing in Czech at all costs, since that's the first thing everyone learns. And a thing that you never forget. But it slips out so easy when you're under pressure.

The whole country saw what he did. It’s just that republicans have gotten sick of losing elections so now they embrace fascism. They will support trumps authoritarian autocratic dictatorship because it means they won’t lose anymore elections.

And we will just let him.

See, this election isn’t Trump vs Biden. The democratic challenger could be a flaming bag of shit, it wouldn’t change the stakes. Every year, people say this election is so important and they’ve been wrong. But this year they are correct. This isn’t Trump vs Biden. It’s dictatorship vs democracy. Trump wins and he’ll crown himself king for life. Anyone who opposes him will be thrown in prison. Listen to his speeches, he says the quiet part out loud. Everyone in his campaign is saying trump’s next term will be all about retribution. RETRIBUTION against those who wouldn’t allow him to steal the last election.

There is no love, no goodness in Trump. He’s an asshole to everyone. He quotes Hitler and counts Putin, Kim, and the Hungarian dictator Orbàn as friends. He’s a scumbag using religion to solidify his cult status over the simpleminded racists who support him. He’s not a christian, he’s not friendly and he thinks Hitler did good things

Even if you hate Biden, it’s not him you are voting for by voting for him. You’re voting for a continuation of democracy, which may be battered by things like horrible Supreme Court rulings (citizens united, repealing Roe v Wade, corporate personhood) but it’s better than a Trump led dictatorship. Once democracy is gone, it’s never coming back without war and death. Is this what you want? Do you think you will survive bombs hitting your neighborhood, your apartment building? Ask people in Ukraine what that’s like.

It’s not Biden vs Trump. It’s dictatorship vs democracy. It’s black and white, no shades of gray. If trump wins, you will never vote in a meaningful election again. And if you or anyone you know complains, they will disappear. Those who don’t remember history are doomed to repeat it. And history is repeating itself. Hitler won by one vote. Trump won in 2016 despite getting fewer votes because of the electoral college. And if he loses again, he’ll pull the same shit as in 2020, but more forceful.

Keep trump out of the White House.

Recognizing Trump's Patterns and Rhetorical Tricks

Timothy Snyder, Yale University history professor: I mean the fascists authoritarians, they did not have to personally kill people. They used language. And that specific dehumanizing language - calling people 'beasts' and saying 'my opponents can't be in power because they are the ones who are on the side of the beasts'. That has a very specific history so the words are the actions. The words matter in themselves.

Interviewer: Because the goal is to get people to take on these ideas and deal with them.

Snyder: The goal is to say these 'other people on that side, the ones who help the animals, they are not real Americans'. 'They can't possibly be in power. They can't possibly be legitimate.'

And, so combining it with the notion of elections that are faked and the idea that they are on the side of the 'subhumans' is meant to rally people so that they think violence is acceptable, And we know this can work because his words caused violence on January 6 2021. He [Trump] knows it can work and that's what he is going for.

Of course I'm not saying all trans people are predators. I'm a straight female and I know not all men are predators. But I also know that all a predator wants is access, and to open the doors of changing rooms, rape centers, domestic violence centers- to open the door to any man who says, 'I am a woman, I have a right to be here,' It will endanger women and girls. It's with no pleasure that I say this has happened. Karen White, a man in England, used a trans persona to violently attack and rape women in a female jail. He had not physically transitioned. Predators can and will exploit any loophole that they can. And for someone growing up during the rise of British feminism, TERF sounds like just another way to silence women. People like to say it's not 'up for debate,' the stock phrase, 'no debate.' That alarms me. I can't think of anything more authoritarian than, 'no debate.' In fact, that is the argument of the fundamentalists: 'I am righteous, I don't have to explain my righteousness. And I am entitled, therefore, to bully you, to harass you, to silence you, to take away your livelihood, all the way to attacking you. Like when Dr. Erica Anderson, a trans clinical psychologist, voiced her criticism and was herself shut down, or Maya Forstater, a researcher who was fired because of her critical thoughts on the issue. Because of things like this, people are terrified of speaking up. I joined the public conversation because I saw women being shut down. It seemed there was always a way to shut down womens' voices. There are tons of women who are forced to not speak because they literally won't make rent. I wanted to speak earlier than I did, but there were women begging me not to, as they saw what happened to other public figures. But I feel a sense of moral obligation to speak, especially for the women who don't have the insulation I am privileged to have. The attempt to intimidate and silence me is meant to serve as a warning to other women. I've written a whole series of books that had a central theme about bullying behavior and how authoritarianism is of one of the worst social ills perpetuated on people. And I feel protective of those people. If there is one thing I stand against more than any other, in my books and in my life, it's authoritarianism - and that cuts through all political persuasians.

"Listen up, men" the olive-garbed man on stage barked in front of a flag with an X insignia. "This is your general, CEO, ordained minister, and leader talking. You will be giving up your lives for your country, your fellow man, and most Importantly... Myself, Blood N. Guts! It's a privilege and an honor to follow my orders."

The crowd of stern faced warriors applauded loudly, synchronized, and immediately stopped.

"As you may not know, everyone who doesn't look or think like we do is an enemy in waiting! But all of you are a spitting image of the man next to you. I couldn't be more proud of I tried."

The crowd repeated the robotic applause.

"Our first enemy is a sneaky bastard. He is the one ruining our great people, our great culture, our great food! He will never stop this degenerate goal to turn our men soft, our women hard, and our children literate!"

The crowd devolved into a rabble of angry shouts yelling at this imaginary enemy.

"Now, now, I like your passion, but save it for the threat. The surest way to find these traitors is to spot anyone not happy with our way of life. If they are not cowed into submission, they will be sent to jail or roughed up. Strong people are great people. Any questions?"

The crowd stayed still and silent until one soldier in the middle raised his hand.

"Private Freeman, sir. Can we change the enemy's mind by just talking to them? That seems more humane than "

Guts peered down at the young man, with the others around him staring daggers.

"Son, are you criticizing me? Are you criticizing all that is good and righteous? I will not take this censorship lightly! Men, you know what to do!"

"SIR, YES, SIR!" they all boomed as they punched and kicked the living daylights out of Freeman as two men took him away.

"That is more like it! When I see you all, I want you to see your fellow man like me. I want to see nothing but Guts. For every day spent without Blood is a life of cowardice and shame! To fight and work without doubt is the best way to live, die, and enter Heaven! And soon all of the world will see the X and know we will never be messed with again! The world is ours for the taking. That is true freedom. To reap without caring about feelings or humility. For you, for me, for us!"

The crowd repeated yet louder, more aggressively, and with rowdier laughter and hollering. None of them were brainwashed, and they followed orders willingly for Guts, for power and a solid hierarchy, for that lifestyle should never be challenged if they could benefit trampling over others. They were given permission for cruelty and be rewarded handsomely.
