In its annual report, the Stockholm-based International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) said democratic institutions were being undermined by issues ranging from restrictions on freedom of expression to increasing distrust in the legitimacy of elections. Several factors, such as Russia's war in Ukraine, rampant inflation, a looming global recession, climate change and the Covid-19 pandemic provided significant challenges. The report found that authoritarian governments were engaging in ever more repression of dissent, and that more than two-thirds of the world's population now lived in "backsliding" democracies or under authoritarian rule. Globally, the number of countries moving toward authoritarianism was more than double the number moving toward democracy measured over the past six years.

Real Talk:
Today is December 5th 2023, the 90th year of the Repeal of Prohibition Day. That means more than 100 years ago, the government banned alcohol, all in the name of “protecting children”. But hey that's government for you, they see alcohol as the problem and point the blame on it instead of shitty parenting. Sort of makes you figure that alcohol should have never been banned in the first place.

Before you decry someone's post because "nobody is saying that, you're just making up a strawman to get mad at" you should check to be sure there's nobody in the notes saying exactly that, and you should be very, VERY sure that there's not, say, a post with tens of thousands of notes floating around that says exactly that

“Totalitarianism is never content to rule by external means, namely, through the state and a machinery of violence; thanks to its peculiar ideology and the role assigned to it in this apparatus of coercion, totalitarianism has discovered a means of dominating and terrorizing human beings from within.”

Why doesn't Blossom just. leave? Idk if that sounds weird since you have talked about how the clans essentially function like a cult (although this was in reference to starclan), but if Blossom feels so completely isolated and shut off, why not just. Run away.
Blossom literally gets told 'no one cares about you, why not just disappear?", and the clan does NOTHING to say otherwise, and their silence is basically agreement. Suicide tw, to someone who is already at their lowest, or just climbing out of it at least, that line could have horrible implications- you dont matter, just fade away, no one would notice, etc. Idk if that was intended (ashfur seems like the kind of asshole who would intend it but i dont think you intended it), but. yeah its horrible.
Since im believing it wasn't intended, maybe change it? Emptycry could work (instead of 'no one cares, you're a waste of space' its 'your words are empty, be quiet'), or maybe naming her Rottedpetal- the flowers have been shredded, and now they have begun to rot instead of growing anew. Or, if you want to keep the name, Blossom snaps and decides that he's speaking the truth- so she leaves. Maybe she becomes a loner (does the lake territories even HAVE any loners that function similar to Barley, Ravenpaw, Smudge, etc???), or joins another clan (i highly doubt this since the other clan would eventually learn of 'clearface' and start calling her that again, or worse kick her out for breaking the code), OR she becomes a kittypet, completely willing to trade freedom just to be loved.
...forgive me but I feel like a lot of people are missing the point of Dishonor Titles and why and how Ashfur uses them.
Ashfur is picking the cruelest possible names he can think of exactly because he wants the people who oppose him to be broken. He is finding a character's deepest insecurity and putting it on full display, forcing the other cats in the Clan to join in on his mental abuse to set them against each other.
This serves the purpose of showing that Ashfur is even worse than Bramblestar, and that he is very perceptive of people's insecurities.
The cruelty is the point. These titles from the Impostor aren't meant to be petty, they are meant to be gutwrenching.
Why does Blossomfall not leave? Because her entire family is here. Father, siblings, three children, any friendships she's finally started working on. She had to beg to come back in on their grace and she will not get another chance. Random humans aren't an option. It hurts but she eats it, knowing her only options are to take it for the next two weeks or be exiled forever.
If she was going to leave because of the name, then that is something Bramblefake can use as well. "Codebreakers are weak cats. She couldn't handle having her disrespect thrown back at her and cared more about her pride than her Clan. A traitor twice, now a traitor thrice."
But things were just finally starting to get better for her, and she's not willing to leave her entire life behind for the exciting opportunity to... live alone in the woods. Not yet.
She becomes a rebel later, but not yet.

the amish don’t pay as much in taxes, but they do pay taxes, and consume fewer services; in general i don’t think large and staunchly isolationist communities are, like, Good for the social fabric, but the immortal political principle of “Err on the side of leaving people the fuck alone” means i don’t worry about it too much.
but if i were israeli, i would worry a lot! it would be very different if the amish were 13% of the U.S.’s population, if anabaptism was the official state religion, and the amish all voted for far-right parties that supported annexing and occupying canada.

Trump surrogates such as Steve Bannon have been talking about destroying the "administrative state" for years now, as though federal government employees are all in on some grand conspiracy. Now this ridiculous idea has been explicitly codified in a Heritage Foundation plan for the next Republican President, ominously called "Project 2025." This document, brought to you by a highly influential, oft-cited think tank, is nothing short of a blueprint for authoritarian rule. But don't take my word for it. Consider the AP headline: "Conservative groups draw up plan to dismantle the US government and replace it with Trump’s vision."
(To be clear, I’m not criticizing Jimmy Buffett, who seemed politically decent.)

It may be that the longest road to socialism is the one we’re working towards. I look at what the right-wing chuds are up to, and how ignorantly devoted they are to pre-fascism. As far as I can tell, the time is ripe for a fascist revolution, not a communist one.
There are so many conservatives that buy into the hype. We have at least a half century of anticommunist propaganda working against us. The pessimist in me sees hard times ahead. I don’t see how a country that fought so vehemently against communism for so long, can just go from what is still a strong economy to a socialist economy under any circumstance.
Slightly less likely than status quo until the asteroid hits, is a red wave that washes out any lip service to hope of even Democrat ambitions. Read up on what happens when full-on fascism blossoms.
Nothing unites the working class together like abject poverty and suffering. I do not think that we are yet beaten down sufficiently for a communist revolution. Not enough people know the hunger of a free market paradise.

Real Talk:
The Constitution is a useless piece of toilet paper that does not protect individual rights. If you've learn anything from American history, the Declaration of Independence gave people the power to overthrow the government if it becomes overreaching and tyrannical. The Constitution shits all over that and gave the government power to quell insurrections.
