Being an autistic person at school:
comes with a lot of stress, mainly because it involves masking, which is a coping mechanism where I mask my autistic traits and try to behave more neurotypical. It’s very draining and requires a lot of energy, and it’s still not enough.
comes with w lot of stress because of sensory overload, e.g bright lights, increased sensitivity to certain sounds, crowded spaces, loud noise, bad smells and textures. Each of these factors make my daily life harder, I feel irritated, tired and overwhelmed/overstimulated.
comes with a lot of anxiety, because I have trouble communicating, I take things literally sometimes, I find it hard to know what someone’s tone of voice means, or their expression. It makes me overthink and overanalyze details in order to come up with an appropriate response.
comes with more increased pain, my period cramps, headaches, pain in general are stronger, which often leads me to a sensory overload and is invading my daily life and makes me unable to to concentrate on basic tasks. It also makes me unable to participate in PE classes sometimes.
comes with a lot of emotional dysregulation, since my body can’t regulate my emotions the way the neurotypical one does, it’s harder to do so. This makes it harder to write tests, complete excersises in class. It can take a toll on my mental health and grades.

✨ A reminder! The holidays are not a happy time for everyone! ✨
please, don’t expect me to “be happy” just because it’s christmas
everyone’s dealing with things that they may not be open about, such as grief, eating disorders, depression, chronic illness, financial instability, etc.
you don’t owe anyone your happiness, and your certainly don’t owe anyone your energy!
take care of yourself this holiday season 💗🎄

Roblox Has A Problem
Hey everyone, sorry for the more serious post today, but I have an important issue I really need to talk about and bring attention to.
Recently when I was trying to upload one of my autistic pride designs to make a t-shirt on Roblox, I was sent a moderation warning saying this:
Tumblr media
(And this was the image I uploaded btw):
Tumblr media
Obviously I was annoyed and frustrated by this, so I contacted Roblox and sent an appeal message.
Tumblr media
Today I received a response from Roblox Support saying this:
Tumblr media
Does this action seem fair to you? Because it doesn't feel fair to me. I ranted to one of my autistic online friends about it after, where we discussed it in more detail and you can understand more of the context around why this is so messed up. (I got permission to share these screenshots.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know Roblox moderation has never been great, it's always had its issues. But as annoying as that is, in this case I feel like it's crossed a line. This isn't just about Roblox either, this is about how society views autism and the lack of autism education in general. I'm not just upset because I can't post something on Roblox, I'm upset because my voice as an autistic person is being silenced while other products on that platform are clearly mocking autism, and I'm trying to teach people about us. This is completely unjustified, and it sets a scary precedent when marginalized groups get censored for talking about their own experiences. Yes, Roblox is for all ages, and we should keep conversations appropriate, absolutely. But autistic people's existence, disability in general, is not inappropriate, kids should be learning about it. We don't need to discuss eugenics and hate crimes towards disabled people on Roblox, of course not, but I should be able to mention my identity without fear of being punished.
Basically, censoring the word autistic doesn't protect autistic people from hate, bullying, and discrimination, that is still happening regardless. What it does do is make it harder for us to fight back and stand up for ourselves, teach people about the realities of autism and normalize us as human beings. It's doing more harm than good, and that's what I hope Roblox can start to realize.
If you agree with me and want to make a difference, please reblog this and share it as many places as you can. We need to send a message to Roblox, and show them that silencing autistic voices is not ok. Obviously, be civil and respectful though, I just want to have a peaceful conversation about this problem, and hopefully Roblox will care enough to hear us out.

How can getting an official diagnosis help an autistic person?
It can make them understand who they truly are and the reason why they're like they way they are and why they do the things they do. Also, it can help others to understand the autistic person. It makes you feel relieved

autism and processing information. it feels impossible to explain how sometimes i genuinely can’t process things. i don’t understand information either written or verbalized to me. and i feel shame about it, so i try to pretend to understand or just understand bits and pieces. but being unable to process information when my brain is overloaded happens often.

Potential Character for Mrs. Kelsey and Tumblr 12/8/2022:
 Viv, Orc Fighter-Turned-Barista:
 Appearance: (See above).
What she’s from: Legends and Lattes.
What she might be in: Something for Dungeons & Dragons, I guess.
Background:
Originally a professional adventurer (specifically a fighter), this Orc ultimately decided to retire and find a new vocation. She ultimately discovered coffee, and decided to open a café (never mind that most of her area of the world had never even HEARD of coffee before).
Since then, her café (dubbed “Legends and Lattes”) has grown, gaining two other employees and finding new recipes for the customers (the idea to “ice” coffee came from a student at the nearby wizarding academy mentioning that he wasn’t all that interested in “hot drinks”).
Although there are criminals in her neighborhood, she’s hesitant to actually fight, fearing that it would ruin her retirement.
How she is like me:
We don’t exactly want to fight others (or, in my case, lash out at others), and we both want to do some good stuff. I want to one day write a novel, and I try to stop myself from lashing out with calming strategies like Prana Breathing and petting Smokey.

Tumblr media
Things on my mind:
finish decluttering the painting/art shelves
continue reading “l'interprétation des cotes de fées” + take notes from it
put my frame on the walls
Tumblr media
Bonus:
I was tagged by @zzzzzestforlife for this cute picrew game! It's how you look now vs when you were younger :)
Young me used to spend around 20 minutes each morning to straighten her hair because it used to be a complex... 🥹 I always thought my hair was just "messy wavy", never the "pretty wavy/curly" so I didn't like it!
I don't really have anyone to tag, so anyone who sees this, feel free to do it!

i honestly do not know how the ✨ fuck ✨ i’m supposed to live like this.
my mother will have to work until she dies, and she has been working since 14,
i will more than likely have to work until i die, and i have been working since 16.
my mother works mon-fri every week, and is considering picking up a part time job so she can make money on weekends too.
“saving money” is no longer an option, especially as a low income family/family with disabilities,
but no, people will always tell you that you haven’t been working hard enough, and you must just be unmotivated or plain old lazy.
but this begs the question…
how the hell am i supposed to feel “motivated” to fill a rich man’s pockets,
when everyone i know is struggling with money to some extent.
this genuinely can’t go on much longer. there has to be an end.

In regards to my last post, someone in the comments mentioned that if discrimination is against Roblox rules, then their moderation is breaking their own rules. So I took screenshots of the specific sections of their rules that describe discrimination, hate speech, and slurs. And look what I found.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Disability is specifically mentioned, including mental disabilities. So would you consider not being allowed to make something about being autistic (as an autistic person, to share a positive message about it) discrimination? Is it discrimination to not let disabled people create things related to their disability - a part of their identity? And if so, don't you think Roblox should really make sure that their moderation system abides by their own rules.
This isn't the only thing they have issues with moderating either. I've had trouble regarding sexual orientation and gender identity moderation, and I've heard others talk about the problems in moderating racism. There's just a serious moderation problem in general when it comes to identities. Maybe if we're loud enough about it, Roblox will make an effort to fix it.

things about autism that do not make me or you a bad person:
lack of or low empathy
not making eye contact
stimming publicly
echolalia, repeating what others say
going mute sometimes
stimming while listening to someone
stimming loudly/noisily
not controlling voice volume
being autistic.
why, you ask? because it's not something we can control. you shouldn't apologize for something you can't control, it's not your fault. you shouldn't be blamed for being you.
