I agree. I ask not because I am impatient but because I want to plan before I lose my wits.
Also, if I know a specific time frame then I know when to follow up--and not look impatient. If I followed-up after the time they told me and they get angry, well …
If they can not give a time frame, I ask if I can do something else somewhere else and just come back an hour or two or three later (and not fall in line again in some cases). If they say 'yes', that's cool. If they say 'no', I start to get uneasy … specially if there are too many people and it's noisy.

Challenging Stereotypes: Not All Autistic People Are the Same
There's a saying in the autism community: "If you've met one autistic person, you've met one autistic person." This phrase emphasizes that autism is a spectrum disorder, with a wide range of abilities and characteristics. Some autistic people may have speech delays, while others are highly verbal. Some may avoid eye contact, while others do not. Some may have exceptional abilities in certain areas, while others have different strengths.
We must challenge stereotypes about autism and recognize the diversity within the autistic community. Each autistic individual is unique and should be treated as such. Their experiences, needs, and strengths can significantly vary, and we must respect and honor their individuality.

Breaking Radio Silence – The Neurodivergent Part
Below is a circle-graph illustrating an overlap of traits from three types of neurodivergence. I fit right into the traits that are clustered together in the middle like several people I know who have seen this circle-graph. This overlapping circle may be a type of neurodivergence that hasn’t been labeled yet but a label isn’t what I’m looking for. Studying neurodivergence is about finding…

This show is fantastic, #TheChosen is a blessed Christian show, and it welcomes disability awareness because Matthew is on the autism spectrum in this series. I love this show because one of my goals in life is to bring together disability awareness and the Christian community. #disabilityadvocate #disabilityawareness #disabilities #thechosentvseries #autismspectrum

Seriously?! For real?!!
All this time whenever I use those words/phrases I meant it literally so I'm expecting the same when other people use it.
People I followed up must have been annoyed at me. T_T
Neurotypicals / non-autistics, why do you have such a complicated way of communicating? Why don't you just say whatever it is your want to say/mean?

Did you know that Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) covers a wide variety of symptoms, skills, and levels of impairment?
Autism is not a single condition, but rather a spectrum of closely related disorders with shared core symptoms. Every individual on the autism spectrum has problems to some degree with social interaction, empathy, communication, and flexible behavior. But the level of disability and the combination of symptoms varies tremendously from person to person.
For instance, some people on the autism spectrum may have impressive language skills while others may not speak at all. And while some are socially engaged, others are markedly withdrawn. 🌈
People with ASD may have exceptional abilities in visual skills, music, and academic skills. About 40% of those with ASD have average to above average intellectual abilities. 💡
Keep in mind, everyone's autism journey is unique. Let's continue to embrace the diversity of experiences in our community. 💙

"If you've told a child a thousand times, and the child still has not learned, then it is not the child who is the slow learner." - Walter Barbe 1977
When there's an underlying condition that has not been identified and needs are therefore unmet, you can tell a child the same thing a million times and their behavior won't change.
What WILL change their behavior is understanding the root cause and figuring out strategies that will address their underlying unmet needs... then, helping them apply those strategies.
But getting upset because they "aren't listening" is unproductive and will likely lead to increased frustration all around.
Also, as they say... insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Posted @withregram • @thearticulateautistic Autistic Trauma: Hearing “You did that on purpose (and having no idea what they’re talking about). … “You did that on purpose!” This is one of the most triggering phrases for me to hear. As a child, it It made me freeze up instantly and my eyes go wide with terror. And the ironic thing about that reaction, which is completely trauma-based, is it looked like GUILT, which just confirmed the “validity” of the accusation for the other person. … When I didn’t freeze, I would respond with, “Did WHAT on purpose?” because I didn’t even know what they were referring to half the time—but it would only make them angrier. … And the real kicker is, I’ve been told my confused face looks like an angry scowl, so people didn’t read confusion on me, they read insolence. … If you’re neurotypical, and you have an autistic loved one, don’t start with an accusation, start with an observation. Tell them what you perceived first before asking if they did it on purpose. … Also, give context. Your autistic loved one may have very well done something on purpose but not what you think and not out of malice. Explain what it was that happened, how you interpreted what happened, and how you feel. … Remember, a neurotypical and an autistic person can be in the same room and have the same interaction and their individual brains will interpret the event in totally different ways. This is why you MUST start with telling the person what happened even if it JUST happened. … Pause. Breathe. Explain. Express. Ask. … Autistic folks, can you relate? … [ID: Mother and daughter having an intense conversation at a dining room table.] … #Autistic #Autism #AutismSpectrum #AutismAwareness #AutismAcceptance #ActuallyAutistic #AutisticAdults #AskAnAutistic #AutisticAdvocacy #AutisticRights #RedInstead #Neurodivergent #Neurodiverse #Neurodiversity #Atypical #AutismMom #AutismDad #AutismParent #SpecialNeeds #Disability https://www.instagram.com/p/Ce1TyVcOqy0mhlUpCmV2XG8-izPCopp3JDmV9k0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Autism in Children. This is how I was, as a child with autism! Autism creates a lot of issues for children in the aspect of socialising and sensory processing. I myself was a very reserved kid, I never was able to make new friends and I had a hard time coping with the friends that I actually had. I would prefer to stay indoors and play with electronics and chemistry set than go and play out on the streets with my bike and the other kids. So much so that when I have my birthday party is my parents would have to allow me to go home and take a rest during the party because it was so. I never really enjoyed birthday parties because they were too loud and the children were too much to handle for me. But I created my own coping strategy by being able to go home and just lay down on the sofa when I needed to have a break from all the hustle and bustle from the party. Always listen to your kids once in regards to birthday parties and socialising with friends, as you do not want to overload them and cause a meltdown. If you have anything to add to this conversation please pop it in a comment below. I read every single comment os it is never wasted. Follow @TheAspieWorld for more autism content.
