any other autistic trans people feel like gender is just a performance for them, but one performance is more comfortable than the other? like at my core, i’m not sure what gender even is, but given the choice, i want to be a boy. and i could be agender i guess, but i enjoy the performance of being a boy on a daily basis. and the performance of being anything else except a boy is tiring and feels inauthentic. i’d love to hear others’ opinions on this
edit: autistic cis people you’re free to share your opinions on autism/gender as well !

i'm really upset about the transandrophobia discourse right now. i am not a transmisogynist for acknowledging that i also face oppression, and i'm not playing as a victim for wanting a word to describe my oppression. i apologize in advance if this is rambly or hard to understand
i am a transmasc nonbinary teenager, as well as autistic. i am *easily* spotted as queer because of how i express myself as transmasc. i am especially a target because of the ear defenders i wear to help with my sensory issues.
i have been threatened, harassed, called slurs, misgendered on purpose, physically and verbally attacked, fetishized, and more. this has all happened before and after i stopped trying to 'pass' as a cis guy and also started accommodating my autism. i absolutely do not benefit from male privilege in any way, nor am i accepted as a 'real' male by my peers. almost every cis boy at my school wants nothing to do with me, and only after years of being in school with me they are able to talk to me like a person. i have been asked by parents and teachers if i actually want to use they/them instead of my preferred he/him or he/they because of how i present (this comes from a place of support, but only makes me feel dysphoric). i was taken off of puberty blockers because therapists didn't want to approve hrt for me, despite my diagnosis of gender dysphoria, as i have non-normative transition goals. i can't go into any gendered bathrooms because people know i'm not a woman (and i feel highly dysphoric in the woman's bathroom), and i feel incredibly unsafe and singled out in the men's bathroom. i'm not seen as a boy, just a nonbinary person (which i am, but not only) or a confused girl who wants to be special.
by the way, i live in a very progressive place. i have it good compared to a lot of other transmascs.
this is absolutely a widespread issue, and by ignoring or denying it you are making it so much easier for people to target us without repercussions. i understand that people want to move past this discourse, but we cannot move on and advocate for each other as a community if the oppression against all kinds of trans people isn't acknowledged properly as an issue. please see us: the oppression we face does not undermine your own oppression

Note
Autism + trans culture is growing up with one parent who was sure you were autistic but is transphobic and one who was sure you weren’t but supports your identity.
I have two choices: have my disability supported but slowly die of dysphoria, or be allowed to transition and always need to do more which will also slowly kill me. 😀

"There are no stupid questions, no, none at all! Unless, of course, you're autistic. Then every question you have is stupid, because they can easily be translated into long-winded judgments based on things you never said or did or even thought, and these judgments will get ran into the ground. Oh, and don't bother mentioning this habitual behavior to anyone, because even your loved ones will look at you like you're wearing a tinfoil hat. Surely you're so emotionally dysregulated because of the autism, not because of the way people treat you. Don't you know that you're the problem? That you're so freaky and weird and stupid? That you're a big dummy dumb numbskull? You ought to react less and start embracing all of the violence used against you. It would help our cause a lot if you let us win. What the fuck do you mean you have brain damage?? Brains don't get damaged. Organs are made of plastic. My source is *sharts with reverb*"

Recommendation!!
Okay so I read this book and I recommend to do the same if you are radfem/gender critical/gender abolitionist. Basically it’s about Autism and gender identity. As autistic folk, while reading this book I felt that I’m not alone, I felt finally seen. It also focus on other disorders that autistics can have while still the main topic is gender identity and struggles to find yourself in gender obsessed society. I genuinely recommend to read it even autistic trans people as it can help with understanding yourself more. It’s sad to see other people having the same problem/s as you not so long ago. Wish you all better future and capability to understand yourself more

What would you like to see more represented with trans bodies in art or in general?
Tumblr media
Hello I'm a trans man doing an art project for my school's art show in April. For my art project I am recreating traditional renaissance paintings with trans people to showcase that trans bodies are divine.
I would like to show a wide variety of what different trans bodies look like so I am asking around and looking for what people would like to see represented in trans bodies.
I appreciate and am open to trans masculine people's input however I already have a lot of it so I am more so looking into trans feminine people and AMAB non-binary people's ideas at the moment.
I am also especially interested in input from intersex and autistic trans and nonbinary people since there is a more complex relationship with your gender and your body.
Overall any comments are appreciated and I will not tolerate any transphobia or TERFs here.

top surgery help.
Hello hello :) My name is Apollo and I'm trying very hard to save up enough for top surgery. I am disabled and do not have health insurance. I'm so stressed and I don't really know what to do anymore. I put away money every paycheck towards my top surgery fund but I don't get paid nearly enough for it to feel like I am getting anywhere. I have university and other medical bills being thrown at me from all directions.
My dysphoria is taking an extreme toll on my mental health and it's getting to the point where I don't want to leave the house anymore. I've always had really bad dysphoria, but I've gotten incredibly paranoid and socially anxious on levels I've never felt.
Literally anything helps at all, and if you all could share this around, it would make such a difference to me.
Thank you.

not discourse related whatsoever just something that's interesting to me
i honestly think it's really obvious that a lot of autistic people like myself would be trans, given my interpretation of gender. autism gives me a hugely different perspective on the world compared to allistic people, and it means i see pretty much everything different. and if gender truly embodies the perception of the self, then it only makes sense that autistic people won't view their gender in the same way an allistic, cisgender person would
in a similar way, being autistic for me personally means less of a desire to "fit in" in the same way an allistic person might, even an allistic trans person, allowing me to explore much more of my identity than just "i'm a man" and leaving it at that. it allows me to not only develop a more in-depth sense of self, but also to develop a theory about humanity as a whole
(of course being autistic also sucks because i have to deal with chest dysphoria AND sensory issues stemming from my chest but that's besides the point lmfao)
these are just my experiences, too: it blows my mind to imagine, with the vastly different points of view different autistic people can have, what that means for them as well. like, these are just my experiences, imagine what other people experience (if you have anything to add please feel free to i'd love to hear)
