T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?

the number one offense of the bnha fandom in my eyes is the trope “izuku commits s*icide and gets a quirk from it” or, similarly, “izuku commits s*icide but its all so we can focus on how sad it makes bakugou and the lesson it teaches him” i hate that with a passion and i will never write it

and to reference how you answered this same question - like you im also not a fan of fics that make izuku stalkerish and creepy towards bakugou (as if bakugou isnt the one who seeks him out and initiates most of their confrontations fhkjhgh) or fics that make his hero notebooks seem creepy and evil. and the suspected traitor au is another thing im just... very tired of. i feel bad but i actually have it blacklisted with ao3 reader so i dont have to see those fics pop up when im looking for actual things to read 🙈

as for more general fandom tropes, the one that consistently kills me is the tendency of fandom to take a character who has anxiety or nervous traits and then just, turn that anxiety up to 11 and bass boost it until the character is a defenseless little baby bundle of panic attacks that can’t do anything. i think it does a major disservice to the characters by watering them down to just one of their struggles, and doesn’t ever let them grow from that or acknowledge any canon growth they may have to overcome that. the way these anxious characters end up being written makes them interchangeable with literally any other character from any other media who has anxiety bc fandom treats them all the same hfkjghg

literally any DC character (im too used to bnha orz) but if i had to pick someone from bnha it’d probably be All Might! ive written him once and the fic didn’t focus on him, but. i don’t know. that’s probably why i have 0 dadmight fics lol

23. what are some common themes you notice throughout your writing, if you have multiple wips/things you’ve written?

Found Family and love! I honestly don’t think I’m capable of writing a story that doesn’t include these as a core theme, because they are some of my absolute favorites, both to read and write! 

24. do you find dialogue or description easier to write?

I think dialogue! Description for me can sometimes feel too slow of a process, whereas with dialogue I get really into it and just ZOOM! I think this is a big part of why much of my non-dialogue sections end up introspective and conversational in tone. But I really enjoy introspective and conversational writing, so it works out! 

29. do you write in chronological order/the order it’s going to be read in, or jump around while writing?

Chronological! I’ll think ahead for sure, but for the actual writing, I can’t really do the whole skipping ahead thing. I tend to discover new things about characters as I write them, so writing ahead doesn’t work for me because I feel like I’m missing too much information.

eeeeeeee i’m glad you like the rant and the fic! and i get that, i really do, it is an exercise in restraint not to write the like, five other aus i have planned. currently wanna focus on the one i’m writing right now, so i’m not gonna start any more atm, but if you wanna write more than one at a time i say go for it! some people find it helpful to procrastinate writing one fic by working on the other, give your brain a rest. either way, i’d love to chat about quirkless!izuku fics!

She is stuck, trapped under rubble, directly in the path of the Zero Pointer.

Even if she weren’t the girl who saved him from falling on his face before the exam, he would still run—there is no world in which he wouldn’t try his best to save whoever was under there. But because it is her, there is… there is an extra need. She helped him, saved him, in her own way, and what sort of person would he be if he didn’t try his utmost to return the favor?

So he runs.

He doesn’t know what he’s expecting to happen. All he knows is the pounding of his feet, the beating of his heart, and the panicked, breathless need to bring her to safety.

His arms burn.

Of all the things he might have been expecting to have happen with One For All, he was not expecting the black tendrils that rip their way out of his skin, tear their way through the sleeves of his tracksuit, and snap forward.

So I'm going to preface this with a couple of notes.

I'll list my choice authors, then follow up with some notes and my favorite fics for each of them.

Each author listed has multiple Dadmight fics. I encourage you to check my bookmarks for more soft fics, as a lot of writers have done great single stories but never wrote much Dadmight beyond that.

I don't know many (if any) authors right now who only write soft Dadmight. Many of them write what I like to call "The Dadmight Hurts in This One," meaning that there's something about the story that is painful, even if the Toshi & Izuku interactions are sweet. I'll note who does that frequently.

Please be mindful of each author's tags for this exact reason. Also note that fic selections may contain manga spoilers.

If I ever create a collection titled, "The Dadmight Hurts in This One," half of it would be Skit's work. For some reason, Skit writes a lot of "All Might mourning Izuku's death" fics. They're amazing, but wow do they hurt. Since the ask was for "soft," then I See You is full of it. When you check out Skit's other fics (and you should check out all of them), just seriously mind the tags.

The Dadmight is super soft at the end of hold my beating heart (from the fics I've read), but you have to make it past the gore in the first half. The 3rd and 5th installments of the fuguelike series also have great Dadmight.

He has a quirk called Negation, a mother with more secrets than she has hairs on her head, a whole posse of surrogate aunts and uncles, a fake dad who may or may not be a spy and an ex-vigilante, and a pack of slightly feral future heroes.

Even those advantages might not be enough to win against enemies like All For One, the League of Villains, the Meta Liberation Army, and the Hero Public Safety Commission.
