My hands are so fucked, but all my life revolves around using my hands. Writing, cooking, holding books, crochet and knitting. Even just eating. I can't even use my crutches atm bc I can't grip.
I've done something to my IP thumb joint and its swollen af, but I also just have overall joint pain in all my fingers 🙃

The Significance of Blood Tests in Addressing Vertigo:
1. Evaluation of Metabolic and Hormonal Factors: Blood tests serve as valuable tools for assessing metabolic parameters like blood glucose and electrolyte balance, shedding light on hormonal imbalances, particularly related to thyroid dysfunction, which contribute significantly to vertigo. Incorporating cutting-edge technologies, such as continuous glucose monitoring, holds potential for real-time insights into metabolic influences on vertigo. Additionally, examining hormonal fluctuations in various life stages, such as menopause, offers a nuanced understanding of vertigo triggers.
2. Understanding Anemia and Blood Disorders: The role of blood in oxygen transport is crucial for preventing vertigo, and conditions like anemia disrupt this process. A comprehensive examination, including a complete blood count (CBC), proves essential in detecting anemia and various blood disorders, providing insights into potential contributors to vertigo. Combining advanced imaging techniques like functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) with blood tests offers a detailed understanding of physiological changes associated with anemia-induced vertigo. Exploring nutritional deficiencies, such as vitamin B12 and iron, enhances the comprehension and management of anemia-related vertigo.
3. Detection of Infections: Blood tests measuring parameters like white blood cell count and C-reactive protein (CRP) offer crucial insights into infections, guiding clinicians toward targeted treatment strategies addressing both the infection and associated vertigo. Advanced molecular diagnostics, including polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing, enhance precision in identifying infectious causes of vertigo. Investigating chronic infections and their potential link to persistent vertigo symptoms adds depth to our understanding.
4. Assessment of Lipid Profile: Abnormal lipid levels, particularly high cholesterol, may compromise blood flow to the inner ear, contributing to vertigo. Lipid profile tests are essential in evaluating the cardiovascular health of vertigo patients, emphasizing the interconnectedness of systemic health and vestibular function. Exploring the impact of lifestyle factors on lipid metabolism broadens intervention possibilities for lipid-related vertigo.
5. Unraveling Autoimmune Contributions: Blood tests detecting antibodies associated with autoimmune conditions play a pivotal role in understanding autoimmune-induced vertigo, particularly in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. Exploring immunomodulatory therapies and personalized treatment plans based on autoimmune markers provides insights into managing autoimmune-induced vertigo. Investigating the relationship between autoimmune vertigo and comorbidities adds complexity to our understanding.
6. Monitoring Drug Levels: Regular blood tests for drug levels ensure optimal therapeutic benefits without adverse effects, addressing the delicate balance between pharmaceutical management and vestibular health. Advances in pharmacogenomics hold promise in tailoring drug regimens based on individual genetic profiles to minimize medication-induced vertigo. Additionally, exploring the long-term effects of chronic medication use on vestibular function offers a comprehensive view of medication-related vertigo.
Doctors recommend undergoing full body health checkups, including blood tests and other essential tests, at regular intervals to detect and manage conditions such as vertigo early.

Remembering, like healing, is not a linear process
To get through the immense physical and mental pain, I've often had to force myself to dissociate and detach myself from what I wanted, what I said, who I am, and who I want to be... I lose sight of and disconnect parts of myself. And then I forget to put them all back together again. I needed to get stuff done, and I had to ignore parts of myself to do that. It just became all too comfortable... but I was dying inside. And my pain got worse. I was eroding away, in every sense. Looking back on pictures of myself a year ago... and I wince. Apart from physically looking unwell*, I can't believe how okay I was to be looking so dead in my eyes.
I am starting to remember more and more now, and, for the most part, my eyes don't look dead anymore.
--
*this includes the rise in inflammatory flares and all the stress weight - and you know what - fuck you, I'm okay being fat, but I gained a lot of weight that I didn't want, and that's okay to admit. I'm always going to be inclined to be heavier, but my own *personal* health goals did not account for the increase I had when I was stressed and emotionally abused.

I'm a week into having covid-19 now, I finished my Paxlovid anti viral medication. Everything tastes like stomach acid 🤢 and I'm still running a fever.
I did take a covid-19 at home test to see if I was still contagious. Yup! Still positive... jesus...
My cough has gotten a lot better, I stopped coughing up little blood spots. I still can't hear for $hit though 😕 it's been a week with all this fluid sitting right on my ear drum. I really hope it doesn't damage my hearing.
Still got a bit of the sniffles but nothing nearly as bad.
I'm just really f-ing tired 😪! Like I'll sleep like I'm out cold & I don't do that 😆.
At least I'm out of the danger zone with my autoimmune diseases. And at least I can breathe again without too much of an issue. The paxlovid really helped me get better, but the taste side effect is disgusting 😑.

Research on Autoimmune Diseases
Tumblr media
What exactly are autoimmune diseases?
Have you ever thought of a situation where our body becomes our enemy? Autoimmune diseases refer to a condition in which our immune system tends to destroy our healthy tissue due to an abnormal mechanism called autoimmunity. It is a chronic lifelong condition, and millions of people across the globe are living with it. Most of the time, autoimmune disorders are abrupt in onset, regardless of age, and females are more likely to develop than men. There are more than 80 autoimmune diseases that affect millions of people across the globe. It includes rheumatoid arthritis, Grave’s disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), antiphospholipid syndrome, psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Sjogren’s syndrome, and many more.
Strengthen Research on Biospecimens of Autoimmune Diseases
The growing incidence and prevalence of autoimmune disorders called for the immediate attention of global research to discover novel treatments and prevent autoimmune diseases. Today, medical science has endless possibilities. As far as immunology research is concerned, a lack of a clear understanding of the causes and exact pathway of autoimmunity is the main roadblock to discovering a permanent cure for autoimmune conditions. Against this background, it is of paramount importance to utilize the banked human biospecimens, such as serum, plasma, tissue, and PBMC, isolated from patients with autoimmune diseases. A well preserved, richly annotated human biospecimen can act as in-vitro patient models to intensify more studies on autoimmune disorders. Therefore, powering human biospecimens to foster research can uncover the secret behind autoimmunity and discover disease-specific autoimmune disease treatments.

Alright. I’m curious …
Choose your option and if you can, explain a bit in the notes what your understanding is/why you chose a certain option.
I’ll explain why I’m asking this once the poll is over. I don’t wanna affect results.
FULLY understand == someone explains to you what their symptoms are like, and you feel like you have a good understanding of why the person is behaving/doing/not doing/reacting the way they are. Basically: do you think you “get it”.
* Mentally ill folks without physical chronic illness: I am genuinely curious how your experience informs your worldview!
PLEASE REBLOG FOR LARGER SAMPLE SIZE!!!! ILY!!! 🤟💖

no need to credit, just don’t claim my work as your own!
you deserve to exist without shame. you may have limitations and that is ok; you do not exist to motivate those with healthy, functioning bodies. navigating a society that was not made with you in mind is difficult, you are doing amazing! do what is best for you; don’t try to keep up with unrealistic expectations. take care of yourself, you are worth the effort <2
