The multi-year deal will continue to provide fans around the world with bespoke prints and posters that capture the sport’s most iconic moments, locations, cars and personalities. Hello! I know this is slightly weird but do you by any chance have any advice for cleaning a steel sword’s blade? I’ve been learning my kung fu style’s sword form with the sword I got for my birthday and it has some dry brown residue from the scabbard on it and it came with no cleaning instructions. I hope you’re having a lovely day!

NB - the following refers to cleaning / maintaining modern martial arts weapons and reproduction swords.

DO NOT DO ANY OF THIS TO AN ANTIQUE!

Wipe a general-purpose mineral oil like 3-in-1 onto the dry residue and let it soak in for a while, then see if you can rub it off with a rag or some kitchen paper. If some but not all comes off, repeat the process.

If the blade doesn't have a mirror finish or you don't care about fine scratches, you could do the same oil-soak process but instead of a rag, use fine steel wool or a green scouring-pad.

Even after that, you could try restoring the shine with a metal polish. The brand called "Autosol" is very good; as the name suggests it's meant for brightwork on cars, so look for it in a garage or automotive supplies shop (or on-line, of course).

Once you've got the sword clean, keep it lightly oiled - wipe oil on, spread it around, wipe it almost completely off - so the blade doesn't get messy again or, if it does, is more easily cleaned.

You could also try protecting the blade with "Renaissance Wax", which unlike oil won't come off on your fingers. It's a bit expensive (shop around) but a little goes a long way so even a small tin lasts for ages.

I'd also suggest putting your sword on a wall rack rather than storing it full-time in the scabbard; if there's something messy inside, the less long-term contact it has with the blade, the better.

the twins are very cute, I need headcanons of tenten being mom

Tenten used a marker on the bottom of their feet at the hospital to tell them apart and later nail polish

She actually caught on to their personality differences quicker than everyone else

Definitely the protective mom. She doesn’t let Neji’s men (outside of Lee) or Madara be around them.

Was super worried about leaving them at home for her first night out after having her daughters. She knew they were in good hands but, her babies 🥺

Would make sure to buy them something while out

Loves them dearly, but it creeps her out a little when they talk in unison

She’s pretty hands on with them and often takes them to the parks she used to go to as a kid

Wants them to learn martial arts for safety, but her oldest twin doesn’t show any interest and gives Gai Sensei a hard time at their lessons unless Mugen is there.

She’d go all out for their Halloween costumes. People expect her to dress them up cute, but they have a monster theme going

She’s fine a active wear and old clothes as a mom and doesn’t necessarily dress up unless she has to she cleans up really well and the kids love seeing mama look like a princess

Doesn’t care if the twins get into the prestigious academy and tells Neji they shouldn’t be judged so young. Especially because they’re not going to be held to the same expectations as their older brother

Cuts the crusts off their sandwiches and makes fun shapes

Reads them adventure stories for bedtime

Once they’re a bit older, she’s taking them to work with her to teach them about automotives

She’d have a hard time relating to her oldest as she’s hyperfeminine and uninterested in getting “dirty” (she doesn’t want to work and wants to wear frilly things/just be cute💀)

But wouldn’t stop trying to find common ground with her

It would be much easier with the youngest as she’s into sports and cars, just like her mom

Each year they got older, Tenten would ensure that their aware that they have a choice they don’t have to follow their brother and father

No matter how different the girls may act, they love playing a good prank on mom (and dad). So tenten will learn to watch for signs

Takes time to personally teach them how to play soccer

She will have kept every bad school art project they’ve made

Chapter Eleven

The birthday boy, Elias, and his boyfriend Leon live in an apartment block in the Charlottenburg district of the city. It belongs to Leon’s father, whose job has something to do with the automotive industry, and is the type of wealthy man who prefers to have his properties blurred out in Google Maps. Jude assured us that their place is massive. “Like, unreal, insane, massive”, and offers to travel there with us, only our dinner runs late and we need time to rush back to the hostel and change our clothes, so we agree to meet at the penthouse instead.

The apartment, thankfully, has a lift, and it has even more than that. It has a concierge that glances up from his neat little desk as we push through the heavy doors and with a small sigh says “Du bist wegen der Geburtstagsfeier hier.”

“Um. Ja.” I say, and he waves us towards the elevator. “Zehnter stock.”

“Danke schon!” We shuffle inside it and hit the button for the tenth floor. My stomach seems to lurch more than usual as I stand there and wait to be carried all the way up the building. I smooth my hands over the front of my trousers and take a deep breath, somewhat surprised to find it shuddering. I’m anxious. Something feels charged tonight, but it must be the energy in the air from the looming thunderstorm. Huge, black clouds started rolling in over us as soon as we alighted the train, and now, outside of this apartment block, the great, fat raindrops that narrowly missed us have begun to hammer the pavement.

Our plastic heels clack across the tile as we make our way towards the huge double doors to knock. There is muffled music coming from within, and it suddenly amplifies when the door swings open, and a man dressed as Neil Armstrong stands there. “Hallo.” He says, and stands aside to let us into the apartment, flooded by the sounds of dreamy, psychedelic rock.

I try not to let my jaw hit the floor as I look around us. It really is massive. Unreal, insane, and whatever other adjectives one could use in an attempt describe a place that is beyond description. It is a marriage of concrete and glass and steel, with floor to ceiling windows that provide a perfect view of the glittering city beneath us. A sunken living room with leather furniture is decorated by the beautiful people who sit in it, and the television, although off, is the biggest one I’ve ever seen. There are paintings, and books, and plants, and stunning decor and everything, down to the door handles and the throws on the couches is like a piece of art. I barely even look at the people around me, I just stare, and stare at the pendant lights and the rugs and the bespoke kitchen table, littered with bottles of wine and loose cups that should certainly all be sitting on coasters and wonder how I’ll be expected to do anything else that evening but stare at this place and its ostentatious display of wealth.

“Come on.” Claire tugs at my arm. “Let’s go say hello to the guys.” She leads me into the kitchen, when Jonas and Jude are sitting on a pair of barstools. They stand up when they spot us, and I can’t help but grin. “Hey, we made it.”

“You did.” Says Jude. “Priscilla Presley?”

“Yes!”

He makes me spin around. “You’ve done a great job, my God. Your hair.”

“I’m trying not to think about how I’m going to get it to sit back down straight again after this. I tortured it with a comb.” I take a moment to take in his costume, which to my immense disappointment is a 60s style brown suit. That’s it. “Who are you meant to be?”

“JFK.” He smirks. “Is it not obvious?”

“I can’t believe this. You could just be some guy!”

“Well I’m not just some guy, I’m JFK.”

“Well, groovy, I suppose.” I say, throwing up a peace sign in the spirit of it all, and he chuckles. “I’m pretty sure Priscilla didn’t say things like ‘groovy’.”

“Fine, it’s not groovy, then.”

“Yeah that sounds more like her.” We turn to our friends, in conversation with one another and I do a double take when I realise who Jonas is dressed as. “Charles Manson?” I splutter, and he looks at me with amusement and says “Yes, didn’t I do a good job?”

“A great job.” I agree, “Only it’s a bit awkward, seeing as Claire is dressed as Sharon Tate.” He looks at her and bursts out laughing. “Oh my God, I didn’t know who you were supposed to be! This is terrible!”

She curtseys for him. “Only because people tell me that I look like her. It’s not very obvious, I suppose. She really did dress quite normally.” We make them pose together for at least a dozen photographs on Claire’s new polaroid camera, and then Jude and I grin for Claire when she turns it on us, and Jude puts his arm around me while we pull the ugliest faces we can. Then he pretends to kiss my cheek, lips hovering just a few tantalising centimetres from my cheek and I try my best to act like it doesn’t phase me.

After he swivels around to grab a pair of beers from the counter for us, I ask him “Where’s Jackie O?” He peers around us. “I don’t think anybody came as her, which, honestly, now feels like a bit of a waste. It’s a pity that you and I didn’t think of collaborating or something. You could have been my first lady.”

“Or you could have collaborated with me and been my 60’s Elvis, which would have been way more interesting than your dusty old suit.” I say, but he doesn’t seem to have been listening. Instead his eyes are somewhere over my head. I glance behind me to see Astrid enter the kitchen, and her presence in this space makes my skin prickle, like she’s instantly sucked all of the energy out of the room. The last time I saw her her hair was cascading down to the small of her back in perfect, white blonde waves, and now it’s gone. Lopped off into the shortest of short pixie cuts imaginable. For a brief moment I wonder if it’s a wig to suit her Twiggy costume, but as she gets closer to us I realise that it isn’t, it couldn’t be. It’s her real hair. She’s really cut it all off, displaying a drastically different, sharper, more severe and angular look than before. When her light green eyes meet mine, I swear she almost rolls them.

“Hello.” I say sheepishly. “Your costume is nice.”

Her expression doesn’t budge. “Can I speak with Jude, please?”

I heat up with shame and embarrassment. “Yeah, sorry.” I say. Maybe she saw us taking those photos. Maybe she heard what I said about Elvis. Unable to meet her eyes, I excuse myself to go wandering around the party, somewhere, anywhere away from her boyfriend, who I certainly shouldn’t have been retroactively planning a couples costume with. What was I thinking? But he’s so confusing, sometimes I don’t know where his boundaries are.

There’s a nice group of pretty girls in the lounge who switch to english as soon as they realise I can’t understand them, and I sit and talk with them for a while, learning all of the gossip about Leon’s rich dad, and what he allegedly does with all of his big heaping mounds of cash. They say that Leon takes photographs of models in his studio upstairs for work, while Elias, five years younger and still in college, studies painting and has a dedicated studio in one of the rooms too. I’m curious about it, and vow to sneak up there later to see if I can get a look at it.

On the whole, people here are very friendly and inviting, and after talking to the nice girls in the lounge I dance to some psychedelic rock with another group of people, whose goofy moves make me laugh so much that I think I might throw up. Everyone is cool, but everyone is kind to me in a way that makes me think that they believe I am cool too, and none of them has even thought to question it. I like this place, I like the version of me that these people are meeting tonight, and think about how if I could erase all of my history, and everybody’s memory of who I used to be, I’d probably be this cool, laidback girl all of the time.

“It’s so interesting that you’re an illustrator.” The American girl dressed as Cher says as she spins me around on the floor to Season of the Witch. “I should follow you on Instagram. Do you share your work on there?”

“Yes!” I say, and explain to her about how I’m doing my first mural, and how I’ve done window art and cards for a while now. It’s all on my page, and when she nods along with interest I really believe that she cares, she wants to know, and she isn’t just pretending to. As soon as I walk away to get another drink I get a notification that she’s followed me. When I enter the kitchen to find Claire I spot her giggling with Jonas. He says something to her that makes her snort and thump him in the arm, and I kind of feel like I shouldn’t be witnessing them. If they’re flirting with each other, I’m not sure I want to deal with it now. The concept of her having eyes for anybody but Shane is depressing to me. In the corner of the room Jude and Astrid are still talking, but neither of them looks particularly pleased about it. I find myself thinking about what Jen said about her, and how she’s never been any fun, and as I watch them for a brief moment I consider whether Jude is any fun around her either. They look far too intense for that, huddled like that with drooping shoulders and miserable expressions like they’re gathering for a friend’s untimely death rather than his fabulous birthday party. I just take another beer and wander away.

Hi ive seen your art while scrolling through the trollhunters tag and i really need to ask because this is kinda weirding me out...

Is your art a result of you drawing so closely to the show it looks like the 3d models or a bad edit of the 3d models..

Because for me it looks like both and i cant tell which one it is and it confuses me each time i see your art

Honestly, this has kind of thrown me for a loop and I'm still not sure how to take this? But I'm going to take it as a compliment. And, for those interested, y'all are getting a bit if history after the jump.

Short answer: It's the first one. I draw very close to the show. It's all my drawing. I love Jim's design and strive to get as close as possible to how he looks in the show. I'm a technical realist most of the time. I also have years and years of experience in a lot of different types of art and mediums. So for fun I thought I'd do a screen grab from my current WIP while I do a little bit of quick and dirty work. I've clicked through some of the various layers, sketch, lines, finished layers... and then my ugly process for all to see lol. I'm self taught in procreate.... I have no idea what I'm doing. Usually I'd spend way more time on things.... but that would be a long ass video. A lot of my current work takes weeks. The one of Blinky reading to sleeping Jim has over 65 hours in it, and the Masquerade Ball is close to 80.

Long answer!! All of my art is my own (with the exception of one borrowed art work, which was given credit), drawn by me from ugly concept sketch (that sometimes looks vaguely like our characters.... and sometimes just circles and triangles) to polished sketch, to final line work and then color and rendering. I'm self taught, but also have some fine art background... and some in CAD and graphics and when I first started college it was with the goal of automotive design, so I'm more of a technical artist than what most people are used to. I have a background in Copics and my color and blending from those bled over into Procreate. I have medication induced aphantasia, so a lot of times need references. I've been doing sketches of Jim every night for almost a year now. There's a few speed sketch vids on my instagram (same username). I do have photoshop, but the extent of my editing skills is photoshopping aftermarket wheels on my car to find ones I liked, and it's been an ungodly long time since I've done that. I mostly have it because, prior to disability, I spent a lot of time as a photographer shooting landscapes and such, and shooting In infrared.... but I haven't touched a camera or photoshop since...... 2017? I don't even remember how to use it for the most part. Photoshop is not like riding a bike.

Trollhunters and especially Jim, are my comfort show. Helped me through some bad times... and then RotT happened basically right when I had a major surgery, and the combo really messed me up. I started sketching Jim as a way to heal from both... and well, it was all downhill from there 😂

ive been thinkin abt orion n nala all day so HERE YOU GO YAHOO

so almost all of the machinery in this world is biomechanical* in some way or another, although most noticeably of course are vehicles like curbstomp. whats the deal? now obviously a lot of this relies heavily on the principle that 'who give a shit we are playing toys' so please dont expect actually feasible construction lol

in the case of singular machines such as cars, any instance that was not custom built/grown is bred, meaning that there are different breeds for different purposes. in cars this manifests both in the literal construction of the car chassis itself, as well as internal layout and number/length/strength of legs and balance of machine vs organic material.

there are also sub-breeds for minor changes that are common, such as a family vehicle breed having a variant with more metal supports in the legs for rougher ground maybe for rural life, whereas a city based breed might be lighter and more organic for flexibility and awareness. (awareness? yes, all automotive biomachines are at least partially sentient, at varying levels. some instances also interface with machine intelligence, albeit rarely and with poor results. most cars stand around dog or horse levels of intelligence. this also means that cars have temperaments! yay!)

all cars have a much thicker bottom layer than our cars to store both the organs of the car as well as the musculature and bone anchors to support the legs. supplemental organs may also be found or placed elsewhere. the nerves and veins of the car similarly run throughout its structure like a normal body, although excepting fringe cases the chassis is not able to feel, only the legs have sensation. sensory organs exist in many places along the surface of the car but mostly located at the front and rear.

in illustrations, its possible to notice that curbstomp's middle pair of legs looks different to her other two. this is because they are for a different purpose. when running normally, the body of the car jostles significantly with each stride, which can damage cargo or driver. for this reason, it is standard for most large enough vehicles to have at least 6 legs, with the middle pair serving to balance the cab mid-stride for a smoother ride. these stability legs are often both much longer and much thinner than the weight bearing legs, and often lend the car some advantages in agility and climbing as well.

another of curbstomps notable features is the accordion band around her middle, which is another fairly common breed trait (curbstomp is a mutt, but her predominant traits are some sort of freight van and either a heavy haul or construction vehicle of some kind. she also has many many many mods and alterations from orion) the accordion hull is common in both city vehicles and cheap cargo vehicles, as it allows both for large range of motion in the cab body itself (good for alleyways etc) and for significant increase in cargo space without matching increase in weight and calorie demand (freight transport)

there are also other vehicles like trains and subways, which do not need the full 3 joint legs other cars enjoy. trains use a sort of suspension-pull system of mostly hand like structures that allows them to essentially crawl along rails, even crooked, tilted, or sometimes suspended ones. subways, as subterranean systems, use fleshy, sluglike frills to slide through tunnels, and have no skeletal system at all.

non car things -

the city orion lives in- the largest in an area called the Dustzone - is not actually special because of biomachines. its mostly known as a "high crime" city thats full of spooky dangerous smugglers and underground art scenes, that's all. to be fair, it is crawling with smugglers due to its location both far from other life and close to a major border, but if you take basic precautions youll be fine. (crux of the story? Nala does not in fact take those precautions. fairly so, as a barista living miles and miles away with no travel money, but still)

the 'dustzone' is a massive area of nearly lifeless earth made mostly of sand, rock formations, and dead dirt. like, totally dead. worms shrivel looking at this dirt. it is inhabited by mostly feral car communities**, scrap gangs, and a few towns and cities that can import enough livable material to make do. car freaks love it for its immense spaces (prime for racing or testing or ring fighting) and regular freaks love it for its near total lack of effective governmental control. why's it like that? no worries :]

character notes -

Orion is, technically, irish. although her family is from [india equivalent], they moved to [ireland equivalent] several generations ago and most of orion's family still happily lives there. orion moved to the dustzone because shes a car freak essentially, but grew up in an urban environment much like it. she still has an irish sounding accent (comes through poorly in my writing because im bad at it lol)

Nala doesn't actually know her family background very well (never mattered, i the author havent figured it out yet) but shes supposed to be southern arabic in appearance. she grew up a fairly suburban area without much contact to either truly rural or truly urban life. she approaches orions city like someone who heard about a city like detroit being full of crime and gets really scared but doesnt actually know how to take precautions. she has a 'standard' east american accent.

orion is both fat and muscular, and tall as hell. she's around 6'4" or 5". very hairy. a lot of people find her intimidating because of her build, and it does her a lot of favors since although shes acclimated to violence she hates hurting people, and a lotta mooks see her muscles and decide to simply not test their luck. she is very generous on instinct, and simply gives what she can when she can to anyone she thinks needs it (like nala. girl help her). she spends a lot of time with other smugglers of her calibre (i.e. nonlethal illegal goods mostly) and their affects have rubbed off on her a little.

nala is on the skinny side of average and not all that tall. she often forgets to eat and barely exercises outside of what work requires, so she's also fairly weak. not too hairy but has a girlstache. she seems smaller than she is because she often hunches out of anxiety, and barely speaks up for herself. she has an extremely overactive sense of 'manners' and the only reason shes anywhere near as talkative with orion is bc 1. orion saved her ass twice and helped her question what she was doing and why, and 2. orion is a hot babe who just literally spirited her away and asked her to stay the night. (shes having a rough one boys)

*this is because at some point in the past the conditions of the world were such that the strength of machines and self-repairing, sentient nature of organic components meant that biomachines and in particular ones that were agile (like those with, say, legs instead of wheels) were more viable than other things. in modern day the necessity of this choice is diminished and mostly due to tradition and infrastructure - there are few roads that could accommodate wheeled cars, almost no flat roads or rails between population centers, very few sources of pure oil fuels, many cities have at least partial verticality etc etc. i like to think it was a state of perpetual shifting ground/ constant seismic activity that may have caused this but who knows. certainly not me

**although cars can BE bred, they dont have gestation capabilities or any external genitalia, so they cant breed without active human intervention and support. regardless, many 'failed' cars are abandoned as adolescents (or even partially constructed) and may manage to form packs in order to survive. outside of the large space (and numerous wrecks) of the dustzone this is nearly impossible to sustain meaningfully. feral cars have been known to forcibly implant weapons or sharp shrapnel into their legs for better defensive/offensive capability.
