Angels theory time! Secrets of Devildom: Demons of Sloth (part 1)

Anyone who has read the theory of the 7 Og and the cycle of life (thanks @sparkbeast20 for the cooperation) knows that there are many holes in the annon and that many of the facts that occurred in the annon are not explained and/or left implicit without any context.

For those following these moments of theory you can see that demons of greed and lust, focusing on much of these philosophical/theological/mythological debates pointing out plot points few would see and undertake.(thanks @sparkbeast20 for the cooperation) well we've already talked about lust and greed so why don't we talk about one of the most underrated sins among the seven? ladies, gentlemen and sheep or today's theory we will talk about laziness. But before starting this moment of theory, I ask that you, dear reader, keep an open mind for this moment, and in case you want to point out any flaws, or I'm forgetting something, remember that this is just a theoretical post. and I won't be upset if you want to add something to this conversation, I just ask you to reblog and tag me so we can exchange theories on the subject.

Okay, like all topics about demoiac classes, we'll start by pointing out what we know about laziness. But why is laziness a sin? “Laziness is considered a sin because it is the denial of the person's development”, says Mazzarolo. So what do we know about her? With all this in mind, I developed some theories The basis of it all is that all the demons of laziness are partially or completely Psychic and that the entire culture of the demons of this class is oriented towards the psychic plane. Have you ever noticed that belphie was always more attentive to her brothers' behavior? even sleeping did he still feel "the mood" in the room? although he was bel the most observant of the twins i believe belphie is the one who can feel the atmosphere around him. This is possibly the result of his dream (mind) manipulation abilities, but as an avatar of sloth he is too apathetic to do anything about these sensations. My second theory is that the sloth-class demons were the torturers and interrogators in the period of war with the heavenly realm. Although they didn't have the energy in their body to actively fight the celestial realm, I believe that this particular class attacked the minds of their opponents, tiring them and even not letting them sleep when they retreated. How the hell did they play dirty, why would you throw yourself against an opponent armed and clearly in his strongest state, expending an unnecessary amount of energy, resources and time, when you can take him down in his weakest and most vulnerable state? I got something from that, there is another name for the demons of laziness, in other cultures they are known as demons of the heart, demons of the mind or the best known in today's society…. Night terrors. with that I had 2 epphanies, the first was that as a society focused on mind control, like torturers and interrogators, the function of the demons of laziness in the demonic society after the war against humanity was to drive humans crazy. and with that I thought of something, what if the way the demons of laziness chose their avatars was nothing more and nothing less than that? because of that the heavenly realm created specialists to guard the minds of humans, every nightmare was fought by dreams, every fear was protected by courage, every hate was thwarted by love.

I can't quite remember what his function was, that was said in the cannon, but I believe that belphie was one of the main beings to fight these demons, and he was possibly an expert in this matter. That's why I believe he was the first among the brothers to assume the position of avatar of sloth, because the test is to destroy the greatest amount of human minds quickly, simply, effectively without being detected. He was newly fallen, had just lost his sister, his position and possibly his freedom, because of Luci's oath, simply because his beloved sister fell in love with a human…. Wounded, guilty and with great hatred, he knew the strategy of his enemies, before his family, and he knew their methods of intervention, their strategies and their movements. Within 24 hours of signing up there was a new sloth avatar.

Since Belphie’s ‘animal’ is a cow here are some headcanons that make me like him more:

he has separation anxiety and his worst fear is to be separated from his brothers/family: cows are social creatures and do not tend to do well on their own

It usually isn’t so explicitly stated, but in the way he holds you close with his whole body while napping, and the way he tugs you closer with his tail in public, make way for one of his worst fears… that of losing another loved one.

personally i think he has (in his human form) larger than average hands and tongue, and cows are lickers! they groom each other to share bonds, and i think him licking mc is so cute (i also mentioned this in my other headcanon set)

Sometimes you wake up a little damp after sleeping or napping with Belphie, but you always assumed that it was just sweat from his infernal heat. What you do not know is that in those bleary moments of wakefulness that Belphie gets he takes his flat tongue to flatten your hair and go along whatever part of your body he can reach without moving too much.

while he is a sleepy little dude he goes ham for enrichment toys like balls and sticks. while he won’t chase or fetch anything, he may be caught bouncing a giant beach ball around or rubbing on certain objects

You’ve started to bring little trinkets you got from a cheap import shop up to Belphie. He seems so lonely and bored up there that your heart can’t help but ache a little. The shiny ones you buy go to Mammon, but the matte, colorful ones you tuck away into your pocket to bring up to the demon in the attic.

It’s worth it for the way he grunts and acts uninterested, but still shoves his hands through the bars of Lucifer’s magic caging him. It’s worth it when you catch sight of him bouncing, tossing, and fiddling with them when your arrival caught him off guard. It’s worth it when with a shy blush on his face Belphie admits that the gifts, no matter how cheap, meant a lot to him.
