365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
October 19th - Brother Voodoo
Doctor Jericho Drumm is a champion of the supernatural who communes with the dead as the mystical superhero known as Brother Voodoo.  Dr. Drumm had originally rejected the superstitious traditions of his village in Haiti and relocated to America where he became a renowned scholar and psychologist.
Following the tragic death of his twin brother, however, Dr. Drumm would have a change of heart.  He discovered his brother had been a sorcerer and hougan who had used his magical powers to protect the innocent.  Drumm vowed to honor his brother’s legacy and thus returned to Haiti and trained under the voodoo luminary, Papa Jambo.   Drumm possessed a natural acumen for magic and quickly became a highly proficient necromant and sorcerer.  He came to be known as The Brother Voodoo and used his skills and knowledge to fight crime.
During his many adventures Brother Voodoo would face numerous threats.  This included the zombie master, Baron Samed, the villainous Cult of The Dark Lord, and Count Dracula.  He has also teamed up with many fellow superheroes, such as Spider-Man, The Werewolf by Night, Daredevil and The Fantastic Four.
When Doctor Strange lost his position as Sorcerer Supreme for having employed dark magic, Brother Voodoo was chosen to step in as a stewardship position, acting as the master of mystic arts. This prompted him to join the Avengers in a battle against the demonic lord Dormammu, who wished to determine the fate of the new Sorcerer Supreme. Having become an ally to the Avengers, Doctor Voodoo tragically sacrificed himself to prevent the original Sorcerer Supreme, Agamotto, from claiming his powers and bring calamity to the world of man.
Returned from the dead by the machinations of Doctor Doom, Drumm joined the Avengers Unity Division under the new moniker of ‘Doctor Voodoo.’  During his time as an Avenger, Drumm had a brief affair with his teammate, The Scarlet Witch.  Although their romance proved short, the two have remained close friends and allies in battles against supernatural threats.
More recently, Doctor Voodoo has assumed an important role as the headmaster of the Strange Academy, an institution focused on teaching youngsters to improve their magical skills.
The mystical hero first appeared int he pages of Strange Tales #169 (1973).

pietro is going to be in the new uncanny avengers comic written by gerry duggan
Sure seems like it. Marvel announced the Avengers/X-Men crossover special for Free Comic Book Day a while back, and at the time I assumed it was just a crossover a special... but it turns out it's a prelude to Duggan's new Uncanny run, which will launch properly in August.
From Marvel:
This August, the Avengers’ Unity Squad will return in a new run of UNCANNY AVENGERS written by Gerry Duggan and drawn by Javier Garrón. Innocent people and world leaders are dead after simultaneous attacks on the U.S. and Krakoan governments, and that means one thing: it's time for a new squad of Avengers.
False flag attacks meant to whip up anti-mutant hysteria are unfolding and hey, some of Steve Rogers' best friends are mutants. Marvel’s new unity squad will include Captain America, Rogue, Deadpool, Quicksilver, Psylocke, and Penance. This powerhouse new team must solve the mystery of who the new, murderous Captain Krakoa is—and stop his team of killers from igniting the fires of a new world war.
Sounds like a pretty ambitious story, and it seems like this book will be well-integrated with the X-Men line's overarching plot during the Fall of X period. In fact, it sounds like it's going a main feature in Fall of X, which is intriguing-- sounds like the strict editorial divisions between X and non-X series are beginning to soften.
I'm ambivalent to the Unity Squad as a concept, but I have a soft spot for the 2016 volume of Uncanny Avengers, especially Jim Zub's run. I think Duggan, if nothing else, can turn out a fun, well-paced team book and I... sometimes appreciate Garrón's work. Everyone looks good on the FCBD cover. I'd really like to know who's coloring the series, though, because I'm really concerned with making sure Wanda and Pietro's new look actually sticks. The FCBD cover was drawn well before those changes were implemented, so I'm trying not to judge, but... he looks pretty pale.
Uncanny is a good fit for Pietro. I think it's been hard for writers to figure out what to do with him since the AXIS retcon, and that's partially because he crossed over with X-Men a lot more than Wanda. Uncanny lets him bridge that gap again without worrying his revoked mutant status. It will be nice to see both twins in ongoing Avengers books again, on top of Wanda's solo series. I wish they were in a book together, but beggars can't always be choosers.

Yuri Neko Arashi
Written for Femslash February 2023
Prompt: Storm
Title: Yuri Neko Arashi
Ship: Madoka/Yuni
Fandom: Star Twinkle Pretty Cure
Rating: T
Word Count: 1,181
Tags: Alternate Universe - Yuri Kuma Arashi, Past/Referenced Elena/Madoka, Past/Referenced Character Death, Violence, Guns, Swearing
Madoka blinked back hot, angry tears as she held the rifle steady. As she tried to hold the rifle steady.
Her hands so badly wanted to shake but she wouldn’t allow herself that weakness. She had to avenge Elena and she had to evade the watchful eye of the Invisible Storm. She had to be strong. To prove she wasn’t weak, that she wasn’t a filthy Cat sympathiser, that she was one of the in-group.
Yet as she stared into the disgustingly yellow eyes of one particular cat - Yuni - Madoka faltered.
The Cat was her friend. Her current housemate, even. Madoka had liked Yuni, she had wound up trusting, Yuni, and this was how her kindness, as roped into it was repaid?
She found out that this fucking Cat was the one who had eaten Elena?!
Madoka’s heart raced. She had cried on Yuni’s shoulder but she was Elena’s murderer. It was unfair and a violation of all Madoka should strive towards as a Human Being.
Humans and Cats. They were never going to co-exist.
Even though Elena had wished otherwise and even now. Madoka had to repress those sweet memories that she had made with Elena, reading her Mother’s storybook under the covers, warm and cosy in bed. All whilst a storm of utterly biblical proportions raged outside.
It was always going to be black and white. This side and that side. Our side and our enemy’s side. Humans and Cats belonged either side of the Great Division and yet. Being the sneaky, furry bastards that they were. Cats were coming across, they were pretending they were people to gain the trust of Humans… just so they could eat them.
Madoka felt the rage of the tempest. She imbued herself with the unity of her classmates. She would not be othered by her feelings for Elena and she was going to redeem herself for ever feeling fond for Yuni. She was finally going to prove herself as not being an outsider, not someone who could and would be erased by the Invisible Storm.
She may have been her Mother’s daughter, who had a sopping, bleeding heart, but she was not going to be like her Mother herself. Madoka would not believe the allegory, the metaphor, even as she felt Elena’s voice read aloud the fateful lines of that book.
The Desert Girl and the Moon Girl. They would break the barrier that separated them: with a rifle, no less. They would unite their peoples. It was just a fairy tale and Madoka was a fool for believing otherwise.
She grit her teeth, she furrowed her brow, she looked down the scope of her rifle and Yuni was begging for her life.
“It's not what you think,” Yuni yowled, “I-I’m being framed, it was-”
“You are being a liar, Cat.” Madoka snarled. “I know you killed Elena.”
Yuni was so small and yet, her animalistic nature gave her girth that Madoka knew not to trifle with. She had heard the rumours of just how powerful in physical and mental strength Cats had. From her thick, blue fur to claws that cleave the flesh in half, fangs that could devour: Yuni was a creature of war. Of violence.
She had a quickness to her as she kept on the move, trying to get closer and closer to Madoka so that she could beg. She could try to fancy herself to Madoka’s mercy but Madoka had no such thing.
She was determined to have no such thing.
As much as she had to blink away memories of kind, forgiving Elena and her wonderful smile, and the storm of them that whirled in her ear, in the centre of the storm where the sun shined… She had to do the same for Yuni.
They hadn’t known each other long. She just sort of appeared out of nowhere, enrolled in her school and yet. Yuni was all over her, determined to befriend her. She thought of strawberry jam on toast mornings at breakfast and the way that Yuni sang in the shower of an evening. It was so stupid and so domestic and so… human.
Madoka would never have suspected that Yuni was a Cat until she heard the rumour. And saw the signs. The tail, the ears, the tongue that was so coarse and yet so gentle when she kissed.
She would never have believed that this Cat was Elena’s murderer, either, unless she saw the evidence. Himenojou had shown her the photographs of the crime scene and it was so small, so easily missed but Himenojou had seen it. The Principal and the police had seen it and now, too, did Madoka see it: a single strand of blue cat hair.
The exact colour and hue and texture as the fur that Yuni covered herself in amid her ghastly form as a beast.
“Madoka, you don’t understand,” Yuni plead, “there are things you don’t understand just yet, for the sin of pride-”
“I won’t hear it, Cat.” Madoka snapped.
She curled her finger around the trigger. She tried to stabilise her uneven breath and Yuni, seemingly, accepted her fate. Yuni sat and she waited for the bullet.
“Before you shoot,” Yuni lamented, “please know that I love you. I always have.”
   “Quiet.” Madoka growled.
She pulled the trigger but she missed.
She always missed. That was the song and dance of her trying her best to hunt the Cats but… Madoka made for a poor hound of war, it seemed. She had missed before. Sand or wind in her eyes, now it was tears. Her hands just trembled too much as she tried to talk things through but this wasn’t a place for diplomacy, when the storm and all its wind blew.
This was the very first time that Madoka had felt confident that she could take the shot and take it accurately and yet.
   She missed.
The rifle fired but it fired at the wrong angle. Seemingly an impossible thing for such a good and mathematical, academic student but theory and practice, as it would happen, were black and white, too. The smell of gunsmoke was pyrrhic as it wafted from where the bullet had entered a wound which belonged to the ground rather than to Yuni.
It wasn’t on purpose, Madoka told herself as the bullet hit and dented the concrete of the abandoned skyscraper in which their duels took place but. She did miss. That was undeniable and she couldn’t bring herself to kill. Not even for Elena, not even for the Invisible Storm and so.
Yuni took the mercy and she ran away.
If Cats could cry, she probably would have been but instead, she just took her tail and ran with it, scrambling off whilst Madoka let go of her rifle. She was a pathetic excuse for a Human Being as she felt hollow in her previous conviction.
This wouldn’t be the last that they would see each other, however, Madoka just knew. Already, she could hear her next summons to the Court of the Species Divide, sha-ba-doo.

Do you think any of the later Vulture Kings rose in rebellion with the aim of restoring Dornish independence?
To be clear, we only know of one Vulture King after the formal incorporation of Dorne into the realm: in 206 AC, when “[Lord Dondarrion] and Lord Caron burned the Vulture King out of the Red Mountains”. Dunk only mentions this individual in the context of trying to win over Manfred Dondarrion, so it’s unclear what this Vulture King’s stated aims were (much less any unstated goals); it’s possible, for example, that this Vulture King was a proxy agent for the Yronwoods/pro-Blackfyre Dornish faction (against the reigning King Daeron II), rather than an independent revolutionary (which, of course, is also possible). Nor is it certain that GRRM could not have another Vulture King post-Daeron II, or not invent another figure, but bearing a different name name, who would call for Dornish independence in the roughly century following continental unity.
Too, that’s not to say at least one of the Vulture Kings pre-incorporation was not fiercely protective of Dornish independence. The very first Vulture King’s rallying cry was to have “all true Dornishmen … avenge the evils visited on Dorne by the Targaryens”; that Princess Deria appears to (or was rumored at least to) have supported this individual both directly and indirectly may suggest that this Vulture King was a sort of unofficial champion of House Martell and the Dornish state in the cause of Dorne’s independence against the would-be Targaryen conquerors. Less can be said about the second and third Vulture Kings, since their aims were less clear (and, as such, not so explicitly focused on anti-Targaryenism/pro-independence). Still, that the second Vulture King spent his short period of fame raiding in the Dornish Marches (using the division within the ruling House Baratheon to do so) and the third Vulture King seems to have taken advantage of the instability in the Targaryen kingdom caused by the Dance to raid upwards into the Stormlands may suggest that both men looked fondly to the pre-Targaryen days of the Great Game, when the distraction of one state meant the advantage of another and Dornish raiders were local heroes instead of (officially) outlaws.

Simon had also served as apart of the "Avengers Unity Division" (aka Uncanny Avengers) where he was treated about as well the whole Revenger thing. He ended up being absorbed into Rogue for a time (even to a point where he was believed to have died but was really just inert in her head) before eventually being brought back to his regular self.
Wild.
Poor Simon has had a rough go of it.

One thing I’ve been thinking about the last day or so is who is the WandaVision broadcast for? The Agatha reveal tells us a lot about why things have been going wonky on WandaVision, but it doesn’t tell us why the show is being broadcast. I think the reveal also lends credence to the theory that Mephisto is involved, because in the comics Agatha and Mephisto were part of the story of Wanda’s sons. But even Mephisto doesn’t explain why the show is being broadcast. He’s got supernatural abilities like Wanda and Agatha, so there’s really no need for him to see the show. So who in all of the Marvel universe would want a broadcast of wild events from Earth?
Mojo, ruler of the Mojoverse, a pocket dimension that also contained Mojo World. He is one of a race of creatures known as Spineless Ones who were driven mad by tv signals from Earth that beamed directly into their dreams. Eventually, Mojo created his own television empire and broadcast all sorts of shows and events for his people. He was a regular enemy of the X-Men and kidnapped or cloned them multiple times to create shows.
In the aftermath of M-Day, which was the day Wanda erased mutants from the world at the end of House of M, Beast sought people while trying to figure out how to reverse what Wanda did. One of those people was Mojo. While he didn’t help Beast, he did let it be known that he was displeased by the lack of mutants on Earth because it might affect his television ratings. Later on, Mojo mind-controlled the Avengers of the Supernatural into kidnapping the Avengers Unity Division to create a High School AU reality show where the two teams were split into several high school cliques. But how does this tie into WandaVision? Wanda was part of the Avengers Unity Division, which was a sub-division of the Avengers designed to bring unity between humans and mutants. Thor and Wasp were also on that team while the Avengers of the Supernatural included Doctor Strange, Ghost Rider, and Blade. Doctor Strange and Blade each have upcoming projects and Ghost Rider is rumored to be returning to the MCU, just not as Robbie Reyes. Which is fine, because the Ghost Rider that Mojo controlled was none other than Johnny Blaze, founding member of the Fantastic Four who is set to be coming to the MCU soon. There’s also connections to another Unity Division member, Wonder Man/Simon Williams, who was given powers by Baron Zemo in the comics and was already almost in the MCU through James Gunn. Most importantly, Simon Williams was vital to Wanda bringing back Vision.
I don’t think most of this is going to be revealed in WandaVision, as it’s all much too large for the roughly 50 minutes left of the show. But it does point to what may be happening in Phase 4 of the MCU and beyond. Mojo and the Mojoverse may very well end up being the Big Bad of Phase 4. I doubt we’ll get the High School AU stuff, but there are aspects of the storyline that could be used to create something new for the MCU. Especially when so many of the characters involved in that comic arc are in the MCU or coming to it shortly. Some form of this would be a brilliant way to bring mutants and the Fantastic Four into the MCU.
