Spoilers for the new event!!
Kaeya really proves himself as a family man here and it hurts so bad??? The way he was willing to scold two random strangers he basically just met because they were upsetting his girl :( and when he mentioned that Klee “had the power to inspire and even heal others” he was definitely also talking about himself because Klee probably reminds him so much of young Diluc, which is why he obviously cares for her so deeply and it really shines through in this event I’m so unwell

in 2021 I participated in the making of ‘shuwatch!! the ultraman fan zine’ for volume 2! I was able to draw a piece for one of my favorite series and a postcard set :D
it was awesome seeing so many works all going towards a good cause! I had a blast with these pieces and was an amazing learning experience to experiment with new mediums and techniques!!

They’re talking past each other a little bit.

(Happy Halloween, y’all! I do NaNoWriMo every year, so I’m afraid we’re going down to just Tuesdays for the month of November, and I reserve the right to go on hiatus if I risk falling behind on my wordcount lol. Wish me luck writing 1,667 words a day!)

So, that last scene of everyone coming into the room has me thinking bc sure, Eddie’s all smiley and glowing for the first time this episode.
BUT Eddie’s doing that parent thing where he focuses solely on his kid so that he doesn’t have to fully engage in an uncomfortable situation. He keeps his eyes on Christopher, and I can’t decide whether he even looks at Buck at all. If he does, it’s barely a glance. He’s stepping back, hiding behind Christopher so that he doesn’t have to actually face what happened. He can disengage from everything bc he’s there as Christopher’s dad, not Eddie, Buck’s partner. It’s a tactic I know well. You look like a doting parent from the outside, but inside you’re fucking panicking bc the only thing keeping you from bolting is your kid.
He’s there for Chris. He even says, “give him a hug,” letting Chris act in proxy for his feelings. It’s about Chris getting the affection he needs and the confirmation that Buck is really alright. He makes it about Chris so that he can leave in one piece bc if he thinks too hard about what happened, he’ll fall apart again.
This isn’t the first time Eddie has used Chris as a shield when processing his emotions. Grocery store call out, anyone. But this moment feels different bc it’s supposed to be joyful. Everyone is so happy, and yet Eddie, Buck’s best friend and partner, has gone into full dad mode. He still can’t look at Buck bc it means too much.
Eddie is so fragile right now.
