Our roadtrip to the Ayreon concert in Netherlands is unfortunately nearing it's end. The only thing left is the disgustingly long ride back home. But it was sooooo worth it!!! The best concert I've been to so far! It's incredible that they were able to get together all these great artists who collaborate on this amazing rock opera music project! And the acoustics were impressive (surround sound and all - especially as I was standing in the middle of the hall). And the stage design was also great. Wbwjbwjs idk what to say - everything was great.
Oh also, we were staying at the Ayreon campsite, and bonding with the people from all around the world over music was something very special. Just sitting around the campfire and chatting... Vibes ( ꈍᴗꈍ).
Aaaaaaaargh insane experience ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧

"Speak thy charm I know you are out there, cast thy spell in silence then screams!"
is such a great line. It's not too metaphorical that it's detached from the listener, but it's also not too plain and ordinary that you feel no emotions.
It's so simple yet so beautiful and grounded in a way I can't explain

Ayreon Character Spreadsheet
How do I preface this. So. Around the end of 2022, I found an old list I had made of every Ayreon character ever, both written on paper and on my notes app. You know. Normal Person Stuff. And I thought... you know what I could make with this and more information?
A SPREADSHEET.
So. Basically, it includes all the characters that are credited in the albums, and each singer that has played them so far (including Ayreon live performances, not Star One. I haven't made my mind up about that yet), the songs they appear in, the total times they've been played by each singer, and the total times they've made appearances (sorta, gotta revisit that at some point). It is to be updated soon to include the Live Beneath the Waves cast (whenever I'm not busy), and I have to check out The Theater Equation once more to get the extra characters there right. In any case. I guess it might be helpful to my fellow Ayreonauts.
Enjoy.

it's so weird how one of the main ayreonauts here has blocked me even though I've never even spoke to them :D like, what did I do? Should I be sorry?

about me!
hey!! welcome to my blog. i'm 28 years old and currently writing *drum roll please* my first ever fantasy young adult novel! gah! exciting, i know.
i'm happy to share some stuff about me and my current wip below:
i DEVOUR books. what started with historical fiction when i was younger is now fantasy, sci-fi, crime, romance, thriller, whathaveyou. i love the power of a good story and immersing myself in a different world.
i'm a huge music nerd. i mainly listen to (prog)rock + (symphonic/proggy) metal. think pink floyd, led zeppelin, yes -- but also muse, black sabbath, TOOL and other less well-known bands (any ayreonauts out there??) my guilty pleasure involves violently headbanging to cheesy powermetal in my car
when im not writing im usually binging films & shows (anything really -- right now i'm addicted to the office but if i had to pick a favorite movie it would definitely be lord of the rings)
i get extremely excited talking about one of my (current) obsessions. so if you share anything or -- better yet, have any recommendations you think i love... get ready for a rant ♡
other stuff i love -- in no particular order:
(podcasts about) d&d
my orange cat hannibal
peanut butter(!!!)
here you can read more about my wip:::::

"Hey dude, you're so uncool! But hey, that's alright..." -Ayreon . Wherein over a long weekend, 13,000 metalheads from 65 countries pour into Tilberg, Netherlands to see a set of concerts by a studio project that was never meant to be played live. Ayreonauts have taken over the town. They're eating stroopwafels and drinking Liquid Eternity at the Ayreon themed fair. They're enjoying an exhibit of art by Jef Bertles. They're making friends and nerding tf out together. 21 years after Arjen Lucassen composed and recorded the first Ayreon album-- the prog rock opera Into the Electric Castle--a few dozen world famous metal vocalists and musicians come together in full costume, on a full set, and put on the entire show. Occasionally the eccentric genius, Lucassen himself, dances onto the stage in head-to-toe tie dye, with bare feet. He sings or plays his part, and then dances back off stage, like the ray of sunshine he is. Indeed, the experiment is over. https://www.instagram.com/p/B2aH0qgnofi/?igshid=yo8wnne1qehy

DVD REVIEW: Ayreon – Electric Castle Live and Other Tales
“Come with me now; be joyful. It is time to enter The Electric Castle!”
