Just Another Class Trip :)
Part 1
No, no ignore the smily face i assure you it means nothing foreboding, nothing foreboding at all.

“It’s suspicious,” Marinette glares as they leave customs.
“What would that be, Mari?” Chloe yawns, not bothering to dedicate her limited remaining brain power apparently.
“Lila,” She whispers back, “She’s been so quiet all the way here,”
“What about how she weaseled her way into first class?” Chloe yawns again, sleep mask resting on her head.
“Or tried to steal your bag,” Kagami says with venom, her having saved Marinette from that disaster.
“Accused you of giving her the wrong flight time,” Adrien adds, somehow being full awake even after their long flight.
“Slipped metal into your pocket so security would go off,” Chloe downright glares at Adrien, but would never admit to the bags under her eyes.
“Came by and woke you up every time you fell asleep,” Kagami looks at her pointedly, shadows under her eyes being her only give away.
“Too quite,” Marinette whispers, the list going largely ignored as they approach the security scan.
“Just relax Mari,”  Adrien pats her shoulder, not enough to break her concentration, “Lila will be so distracted by being in Gotham she won't have time for you,”
Adrien was wrong.
Of course he was wrong.
This is Lila they're talking about.
“Oh Marinette!” Lila all but yells as Marinette is placing her bag in a tray, “I’m so glad you didn’t go through with it,”
Marinette cringes, the security guards all looking her way as Lila dances off. She just sighs as she is escorted away by the airport security, to the protest of her friends and not much else.
“No sir I am not holding any firearms or weapons,” Marinette answers as monotone as possible, the security guard didn’t deserve her ire not matter how tiresome this was getting.
“We interview the source,” Oh no “Apparently you were discussing terrorist activities,”
“I was not sir, Lila must be mistaken,” Yep big mistake, I’m sure that's all it is , “I’m simply here for a class trip,”
“You’re wearing a bulletproof vest,”
Yeah probably should have left that one at home
“My parents are protective, they know how dangerous Gotham can be,” They were not fans of the horror stories Aunt Selina used to tell her from this city, “They insisted I have it as protection,”
While they most certainly wanted her to be safe the vest was more her idea. It was also more for enabling trouble than avoiding it. At least she was trying to be safe about secret crime fighting.
“Makes sense,” He sighs from across the table, checking through some paperwork, “You’re seventeen, here on a class trip right?”
“Yes sir,”
“Well if you’re here on a Wayne funded trip they probably did and extensive background check,” He pauses for a minute looking deep in thought, “Alright then, you can go,”
That seems kind of lax
“Are you sure?”
“We literally have super villains walking through here every other day,” True that, “You’re holding no weapons and have been endorsed by the Wayne's that's better than most people that have been in here,”
“Well if you’re sure,” Marinette stands awkwardly walking to the door as he waves her off, “Is there anything I need to sign, or…”
“Unless I want to fill out extra paperwork, no,” He seems so tired, Marinette wished she could get back at Lila for making his job harder.
“Have a good day then!” She smiles brightly, getting a small one in return.
She leaves, the security guards handing back her bag, fortunately not mentioning the miracle box or her Kwamis. She smiles brightly, even with Lila trying to ruin her trip she could still enjoy her time here in Gotham- and her phone buzzes with an Akuma alert.
With a sigh, Marinette ducks into the nearest bathroom, locking a stall behind her.
“Kaalki,” The Kwami zips out of her bag, “Tikki, Combine,”
With a flash of light followed by another she appears in Paris dropping Kaalki’s transformation.
She looks over the city, some Akuma attacking the Eiffel tower. At least they didn't seem to be the brainwashing type, she didn’t have Chat Noir there to help with crowd control.
With a flip she jumps, planning to kick the Akuma on the way down. They dodge and she lands in front of them instead.
“Well, well if it isn’t the bug,” The Akuma, in a horrible patch work costume mocks, a purple mask appearing over their face, “Hand over your miraculous!”
How about you come and make me Hawkmoth? I promise to stick that cane up your ass
Oh how she wishes she could say just that, but it wouldn't be very Ladybug of her. Why did the younger her have to have a stick up her butt?
“Not today Hawkmoth,” She says instead, making sure to put the practiced amount of enthusiasm into it, “Or any other day for that matter,”
“How are you going to save Paris without your little kitty cat?”
How are you going to beat me with that terrible fashion sense
Besides Chat Noir deserved a break. At least she hoped he was taking a break, he couldn’t tell because of secret identity reasons. It wasn't like she had any right to stop him, she was having a vacation in Gotham right now, and she was out all the time for work. She could manage without Chat for a while, he deserved that much.
“I will do whatever it takes to protect the people of Paris,” Ladybug remembers to answer the question.
“Hand over your miraculous now!” The Akuma lunges at her
I should have chosen a different persona
She dodges the beam of light that can’t mean anything good. Jumping back to get some distance.
Chat Noir had the right idea
She bites back the cutting remark on the tip of her tongue. Instead throw out her yo to wrap around their arm. The Akuma pulls it forward, sending her through the air. She leans into it swinging around to get a better vantage point, studying the monologuing Akuma below.
Maybe I can for Starling
She has created Starling as a vigilante identity to use in Gotham, if the class was ever in trouble. No not if, when . With a sigh she summons her lucky charm getting a table tennis paddle.
Although I’m only meant to use that identity as a disguise to protect the class
The only thing that stood out was the Akuma's hand, she'd have to gather more information before striking.
Maybe Starling can have a word or two with Lila, that could be fun
She drops down in front of the Akuma. They seemed to like monologuing, maybe all she had to do was probe a little bit.
“Why would you want to side with Hawkmoth?”
“This is my family's greatest heirloom it has been passed from generation to generation for centuries, some fool broke it and I was crushed having disappointed all my ancestors!” The Akuma holds up a broach type jewel, “But Hawkmoth- Hawkmoth brought it back and now my greatest and dearest treasure will forever be-”
Ladybug smacks it to the ground, crushing it underfoot.
The Akuma looks at her shocked, letting out a long drawn out gasp. Marinette does not meet their eye as she catches the Akuma. She throws the paddle she used to smack it out of their hand into the air to cast the cure.
I must be really jet lagged, I’m usually at least a little more creative than that, but it worked
She pretends not to see the reporters coming in for interviews, seeing the victim and their broach in one piece. She makes a speedy exit, needing to transport back to Gotham before the class get too ancy.
“I’m sorry the rented bus left a long time ago,” The attendant informed her, looking sorry for the dishevelled teen.
Marinette groaned, so much for running around the airport for thirty minutes with a dead phone. Thanking the attendant she sulks off to collect her bag instead, she’d have to figure another way to the hotel.
She spends another hour hunting down her bag. Chasing after leads of people who might have mistook it. Checking again with Airport security, who again pulled her aside for having a suspicious missing bag. Luckily the security guard before defended her, she brought him a coffee and two for herself.
“Maybe someone will return it?” Tikki whispers, her and Kaalki hidden in the folds of her scarf.
“It’s fine Tikki,” Marinette sighs, halfway through her first cup in under a minute, “I have replicas of all of them anyway, I’ll just grab some samples from the MDC fashion show,”
She’d have to stop by later, the outfits should have been transported last week along with most of her recent catalogue. The only problem was all the other necessities she lost. But that wasn’t a problem, she carried the miracle box in her backpack and that's all that really matters.
“And some of my… special outfits when we go back home,”
She had altered her current outfit to transform into her vigilante disguise. Her scarf pulled up and could be turned inside out into a mask. Her skirt could be transformed into a cape and hood combo. A zip down the middle of the skirt to split it for the cape and a zip up hood that lay flat along her skirt. She simply turned it inside out and wore it around her shoulders. Combined with a bullet proof vest it wasn't half bad, her belt full of weapons could always be hid under her skirt which was a big plus.
She sighs waiting for a taxi in the cold Gotham air, hating it more than most. Although she supposed superhuman strength was a fair exchange for extra cold fingers. Marinette fought to stay awake, she had also been holding Kaalki for so long she was starting to develop the ability to sleep standing up and would doze off randomly. Certainly helpful at times, but not right now.
“Hello,” Marinette is startled out of her drowsiness.
She looks at the hesitant young man before her, looking just as tired as she is.
“Hello?”
“Is something the matter?” Something sparks at the back of her mind, a feeling she often gets from Chloe whenever she is helpful.
Do I look that bad?
“Just a mix up with transportation,” She smiles, he clearly knows it’s fake.
“Do you need a ride?”
“No I’m-” She sighs, what could go wrong getting in the car of a random person in Gotham, “Yes, I do thank you,”
“Over here, I’m Tim by the way” He stifles a yawn, leading her towards a limousine, the door being opened by a driver.
“Marinette, here,” She hands over the extra coffee, “You look like you need it just as much as me,”
Tim looks at her like a god sent, taking the coffee as they reach the limo.
“Good call Alfred,” Tim whispers to the driver, slipping into the car.
“Hello miss, I am Alfred Pennyworth,” She shakes his hand, something stronger fires at the back of her mind, a true holder perhaps? But Chloe was a true holder right?
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng,” She smiles, trying to assess what miraculous would suit him.
“Best get inside Miss Dupain-Cheng,” She climbs inside at Alfred's behest, “Gotham is awfully cold for a Lady,”
She gets the feeling that is not chivalry.
“Where to Miss Dupain-Cheng?” Alfred asks, already in the driver's seat.
“Wayne hotel please,” She pulls her backpack onto her lap, still regarding Alfred suspiciously.
“Traveling alone?” Tim asks absentmindedly, still nursing his coffee cup.
“I’m here with my class, they left without-” No that's no good , “I got held up they went ahead,”
“Class… staying at the Wayne hotel…” Tim mumbles to himself.
“I believe what Master Tim is trying to ask is if you are part of the Martha Wayne foundation trip,” Alfred informs from the front seat.
“Yeah that,” Tim takes another scalding gulp of coffee.
“Yes I sent in the submission, I’m still surprised we got it,” Marinette had been thrilled at a trip to Gotham, it is where her Aunt Selina lives after all.
“You seem very responsibility Miss Dupain-Cheng,” Alfred complements, “Almost as if you could shoulder the weight of Paris,”
“I didn’t say where I was from,” Marinette tenses getting more than a little unsettled, he seemed to know something more.
“Not to worry, I have close connections with the Wayne's and was aware this years class was from Paris is all,”
“I see,” Marinette nods along, the possible meaning behind the comment still being concerning.
“We forgot your bags!!!” Tim suddenly yells, jumping up and making Marinette jump, they both curse in sync as they spill coffee on themselves.
“It’s alright!” luckily the coffee landed on her black tights, so no noticeable stains, “My bags were stolen,”
“Oh…” Tim relaxes back, “Wait… that's not alright at all!”
“It’s fine, I already have a plan to get some spare clothes and I just need to run to the store,”
“Right… to the Wayne hotel was it?” Marinette nods and Tim starts tapping away at his phone.
She fishes out some wet wipes from her bag, passing them to Tim, who looks confused until she points out the growing coffee stain. With a smile and a few more taps at the phone he takes them off her.
“Left behind and bags stolen, doesn't sound like your Lucky day,” Alfred presses, and he needs to stop, it could be chance, surely its just chance.
“I guess not,”
You don’t know the half of it.
“Well I hope the rest of your day is much better,” Tim bids as they pull up to the hotel.
“Thank you, and thank you so much for the ride,” Alfred opens the door for her to get out.
“Not a problem,” She waves them off, watching them disappear down the street.
They’re nice, probably wont ever get to see them again, thats a shame
“Dick! Holy fuck!” Tim kicks down the door of his brothers room, “I just met the nicest girl who's had the shittest day on earth,”
“First of all welcome back, how was your trip?” Dick greets hanging from the ceiling as Tim takes his desk chair, “Second, what are you talking about?”
“Met a girl at the Airport who didn’t have a ride, she gave me coffee,”
“That's enough to buy your loyalty,” Dick grins, Tim flips him off.
“Listen, she's part of that Martha Wayne Foundation trip and her class left her at the Airport!”
“What?!” Dick drops from the ceiling onto his bed, “Thats so dangerous, especially in Gotham,”
“Right?! She even had her luggage stolen!” Tim pushes the chair over to Dick, “And she was still so nice, even after an eight hour flight!”
“You said she was part of the Wayne foundation trip?” Dick asks, getting a nod from Tim, “Yeah, we are definitely seeing her again,”

Truth / Lies
Bio!Dad Bruce
Bio!Dad Masterlist ~~~ Ao3 ~~~ First ~~~ Previous ~~~~~~~~~~
Marinette slipped out of the apartment early the next morning. She ran through the city, the early morning air stung her skin, waking her up more with each step.
Last night was a whirlwind and she didn't let herself think about it. But now she was.
Three months, almost four.
She has only known she was a Wayne for four months.
If this had happened sooner. She shuddered at the thought, yet it still flitted across her mind. She would have married her brother had this happened sooner.
Would she have recognized Damian from the 10 seconds she spent looking at his photo that day. No, she wouldn't and that thought terrified her. If it happened before then, she wouldn't even know she had a brother.
Would Bruce have recognized her, maybe, but then again that was assuming he knew what she looked like. And knowing what and how this happened, they wouldn’t have even met until after the fact.
She didn't even realize she had made her regular circuit until she was back in front of their apartment building. She opened the door and made her way up.
Hopefully Tim was gone, and they wouldn't need to explain last night.
She opened the door and there was not only Tim, but also Dick, Jason, and Bruce. At the table was a statuesque Damian.
"How much did they get out of you?" She tentatively asked.
"They threatened to call Manhunter." Was his answer.
Okay they know nothing, but oh no, oh no, oh no. She sat next to Damian turning into statue number two.
"Mini, the two of you disappeared last night what happened." Dad tried to stay calm, but his patience must have been tested by Sol already.
"Two truths, one lie." She side eyed Damian.
"We were in Nanda Parbat." Damian started.
"We avoided one mind numbing wedding." Marinette continued.
"The order has a larger moral back-bone than the league."
"You two aren't seriously playing this game to stall, are you?!" Tim seemed close to a mental breakdown. Then again, he hasn't slept in a week, so them disappearing may be the straw that broke him.
"Nanda Parbat and the league are tied so 1 and 3 are true." Jason figured.
"I would agree if this wasn't the second time, they said they avoided a wedding." Tim sighed.
"But it doesn't add into any of the others." Dick added.
"This morning their excuse was they were avoiding a wedding." Tim supplied.
"The truths are 1 and 2." Dad spoke definitely.
"Care to fill in the rest of the class B." Jason scoffed.
"Mini looks down for a fraction of a second when she lies, and she didn't when she said 2. Leaving 1 or 3 as the lie. Damian doesn't have a tick but using what he said 1 is true." He explained.
"There is no way for them to make that round trip in such a short time." Dick thought aloud. "Unless the order is filled with magic users. Meaning it is possible. And kidnapping kids could count as a lower moral backbone."
"Okay, so you're right, but kidnapping isn't the reason the League has a larger moral compass." Marinette assured.
"Do we want to know why the League of fucking Assassins has a larger moral backbone than an order of supposedly good magicians?" Jay was the one to speak the question on everyone's mind.
"Well if not saying or attempting to stop marrying two underage people is any indication." Damian scoffed.
"I honestly think it was their idea in the first place." Marinette mused aloud.
"Please for the love of god tell me you two weren't the ones getting married." Tim finally put it together.
"We avoided one hell of a headache inducing wedding. What do you think." She confirmed exasperated.
In a second (4) Errors could be seen on the faces of their family.
"Mini how long will it take to get to the league with Kaalki?" Dad was the first to recover, but his voice was eerily level, scarier than his even tone as Batman.
"Instantaneously, but someone who knows it better should be the one opening the portal." She responded quickly.
"Give the glasses to your brother. Damian open a portal."
Neither of them put up a fight, doing exactly as they were told. Not 20 seconds later all six of them were back in the middle of the League of Assassins following a clearly pissed off Bruce Wayne.
Thank kwamii that everyone else seem to know exactly where they were going in this compound because she sure didn’t. She walked right next to Damian the entire time and they were both watching their fathers back.
Twist and turns one after another and they finally came to what she can only describe as a throne room. When she saw the piece of shit that is Damian's maternal grandfather once again.
"Ra's." Was all her father stated. It is no exaggeration when she says that the color drained from that man’s face. She apparently wasn’t the only one contemplating exactly what had gone down last night. And the inevitable reaction of her family. What she failed to notice however, but her father didn’t was next to him was the same monk, still there. "Name." He ordered.
"Su-Han." He still spoke with dignity, but fear crept into his voice and stance.
"What the fuck did you try to do to my kids." Bruce growled in that instant she stopped breathing.
"Holy shit did Bruce just..." Jason stage whispered to Dick. However, she still couldn’t breathe and just watched the exchange. If she didn’t know her father’s rule to not kill, she would think he would be about to kill both Ra's and Su-Han, but she did know that rule. She’s pretty sure her father my break it though.
---
Bruce immediately was in a state of shock.
As Batman he had contingencies and plans in place for everything and anything. But this, this never was a probable scenario ever.
Once his shock faded, he saw red, he was absolutely livid. Children, his children, were almost married, for what. A feud that neither knew even existed.
"Mini how long will it take to get to the league with Kaalki?" His voice was dead even, attempting and failing to keep his anger in check. Thank God Hawkmoth was no more.
"Instantaneously, but someone who knows it better should be the one opening the portal." She responded quickly.
"Give the glasses to your brother. Damian open a portal."
Mini handed Damian the glasses, who immediately opened a portal. He walked through with his kids in tow, but he did not stray from his warpath. He found Ra's and another man, who wore the symbol on Mari's box.
"Ra's." Was all he said, knowing he had the man's attention the moment he entered. He showed no attempt to be bored. or uninterested. In fact, if it didn't seem impossible, Bruce would go so far as to say he was scared. He then looked over at the second man. "Name." He spoke again.
"Su-Han." He still spoke with dignity, but fear crept into his voice and stance.
"What the fuck did you try to do to my kids." Bruce demanded.
"It is not like you to visit." Ra's seemed to dance around his question.
"Why my kids?!" His voice rose and patience dwindled. So much so he didn't notice his two youngest slipped out of the room. While the older three seemed to be eating cookies and pastries, watching the show.
"Them being related was an unforeseen factor." Su-Han answered. "For there to be peace the two organizations needed to be unified."
"And both of you rubbed your cumulative two brain cells together and thought marrying two kids together is a valid response."
It was Ra's turn to speak. "Both of your children happen to be the next in line to command both respective organizations. Marriage was simply a contract between the two individual organizations to maintain peace. Although that failed to occur."
"Why did marriage come before I don't know, a god damn Peace treaty." He stopped to breathe.
"Given our history." Su-Han tried to make a point, but he didn't let him.
"You want history, I hear they have been around since the time of the Ancient Egyptians and the Ancient Babylonian Empires."
Both men stood there seemingly trying to formulate any response that could work. “Marriage was the most reliable method to promote unity between the two.”
"Bullshit, you both wanted something quick and easy." An explosion was heard in the compound, sending Ra's into a fighting stance. "You both wanted to make it their responsibility to keep the peace. And when it would fail you would use it as an excuse to return to fighting one another."
A full minute of pure silence when no one so much as moved drawled on. Until the doors opened, and in walked his children, as a fox and a horse with two Kwamii in front of them.
"Are you two the ones responsible for the explosion?"
They looked at one another, then back at him. Damian was the one who answered. "Yes."
"What did you four do?" He asked, although he only did so more out of obligation than curiosity.
"We may have destroyed all the Pools of Miracles." Tikki flew forward and answered.
"You destroyed the Lazarus Pits / Pools!" Was shouted by Ra's and Su-Han.
"Yes, so it's magic cannot be further twisted." Mari stood firm.
"And for the monks to stop using it to extend their lives." Damian added.
"Can I spite them now?" A cat Kwamii he never met before asked him.
"I should be more disappointed, but I'm not." He sighed. "Go on ahead."
"Pigtails your family is the best." The cat cheered. "Now for you two."
The best way to explain what he did was that he phased through each of their hearts and floated on back. The entire time he were a grin that rivaled the cheshire cat.
"Plagg, what did you do?" Tikki tentatively asked.
"What's the fun in telling you now. Plagg cackled. With that they all left, back to Paris. Never mess with his kids, because one they can God damn take care of themselves and two, he may not kill but he will supervise if even one of them is hurt.

Bio Dad Bruce Wayne Month 2020
Day 1: Meeting for the first time
Not my best work, but decent. I hope you enjoy!
—*—*—*—*—*
Mari was intelligent. That much could not be disputed— and despite her dislike for the sciences in general, she was fully capable of comprehending them when she wanted to. She just usually didn’t care enough to try. But genetics? That was kinda cool. So, when she was ten years old and they began their short unit on it, she was obsessed. And by obsessed, she dove in head first. Like, the fact that her eye color didn’t match either of her parents or grandparents. How could she have blue eyes when none of them did? She delved in deeper and deeper until she uncovered a truth her parents hadn’t wanted her to figure out quite so soon.
She was adopted.
Mari never told her parents about her discovery, the epiphany only managing to sate her curiosity. Who needed blood relation when her parents loved her like real ones anyway? But as the years passed and certain life changes came up, she couldn’t help but feel intrigued by the mystery of where her DNA came from. The heroism thing had to have some root in genetics, right? Okay, so maybe she was just looking for someone to be mad at besides Master Fu. But still, could she be blamed?
So, when Marinette was thirteen years old, she traced her DNA back to her biological parents. And for a while, that was it. She had once again sated her curiosity. She didn’t need anything else. Her mother was dead, and she doubted her biological father knew a thing about her. So Marinette forgot about her discovery, or at least let it sink into the recesses of her brain. And there it stayed, until she was eighteen.
—* — * — * — * — *
It had to be one of the most accidentally dramatic days possible. Top floor of Wayne Enterprises, in one of Bruce’s massive conference rooms with every member of his large family in attendance. Even Kori and Mar’i were there, and Jason’s boyfriend Roy. Everyone was getting fairly restless, considering that Bruce had only informed a few of them (Read: just Dick, who was vibrating in his seat and not soothing anyone’s nerves) about what they were even all called in for. In their civilian identities, no less. It was very odd. Damian, not least of all, was sitting beside Bruce with his jaw clenched but eyes scanning the room in curiosity. He had come a long way from the surly ten year old, and he hadn’t even killed anyone in four years. He had well and truly become a Bat, and with that progress came the lessening of his old temper and brattiness.
Make note: lessening. Not erasure.
It wasn’t long, maybe ten or fifteen minutes of Bruce checking his phone and grinning secretively without answering anyone’s questions, before a businesslike tap-tap-tap sounded on the door to the conference room. Immediately, everything went silent. Kori, Tim, and Jason stopped trying to get Dick to say anything intelligible and went instead to just keeping the man in his seat at all. Bruce let out a rare, soft chuckle before raising his coffee mug to his lips. He called out:
“Come on in, miss MDC. We’re ready for our meeting,” before taking a long sip.
And as soon as the door opened all the way, admitting a short woman of asian descent with navy black hair brushing the bottom of her shoulder blades and piercing (familiar. Too familiar) deep blue eyes, he promptly choked. Trying his damndest not to get coffee everywhere, Bruce devolved into a coughing fit even as his eyes continued to flitter up to the figure just admitted into the room. The woman pretended not to notice his suffering, closing the door behind her and walking forward towards the side of the rectangular-set-up ring of tables that was closest to her and also unoccupied. She plopped a heavy bag down onto the table, reaching in and pulling out a large red and white polka-dotted journal from within, along with a black pen. But despite her businesslike movements and her silence, nobody missed the way that her far too familiar stunningly blue eyes twinkled in suppressed mirth. She didn’t seem surprised at all.
That was the last time Bruce was ever gonna let Tim do someone’s background check on his own. He should have at least looked at the file Tim had made, but of course not. Tim was capable, he trusted the boy with half of their entire family’s company. One background check on one highly reputable designer? Of course he could trust Tim.
Except apparently not. This is what Bruce got for keeping secrets.
“Marinette Dupain-Cheng,” Bruce spoke once he got a handle of himself, pushing back his chair almost hurriedly and standing. Damian followed suit, laser focused on his father along with everyone else who knew just how out of character the older man was being just then. It was hard to fluster Bruce at all those days, let alone make him choke and hurry to stand. “I— Welcome to WE. I’m—“ Bruce was cut off by a soft chuckle.
“Bruce Wayne, my biological father and employer for the next few weeks. I know,” Marinette interrupted, sending a sly smile his way. “I had a feeling somebody didn’t actually tell you my name. I was planning on coming to Gotham later this year after I graduated Lycee and demanding to get to know you, but it looks like you did the hard work for me without even knowing. But,” her smile widened in good humor as she walked up closer to Bruce, holding her hand out for a shake. “I do have to say, now that I’ve seen you in person I feel a bit cheated. With how tall you are, you’d think I would have inherited at least a couple more inches.”
“Excuse me? Who do you think you are, claiming to be a Wayne?” Damian asked, tone sharp and his emerald eyes glaring straight towards her. Bruce just took Marinette’s hand, shaking it gently from surprise, but his foot gently kicked his son in the ankle.
“Damian,” Bruce said simply, the single name laced with warning as it came out of his mouth. He turned his attention back to the girl in front of him. “It is nice to finally meet you in person, Marinette. I admit, I did not know of our relation until a few years ago, and I wasn’t in the right mindset back then to welcome another child. Besides, I had it on good authority that your adoptive parents are more than wonderful to you.”
Marinette shrugged. “I don’t mind. I didn’t look into who my biological father was until I was thirteen, anyway. I don’t think things would have ended well if you had just shown up in Paris one day asking to be involved in my life. Enough of that though,” Marinette turned to the sixteen year old by Bruce’s side now stiffened and wide-mouthed. His entire expression, subdued as it was, still managed to clearly telegraph betrayal. And then those eyes locked on Marinettes, and the emerald simmered into something much more vile and acidic. Marinette was not perturbed, merely giving the younger boy a smile and holding out her hand for a shake.
“You must be my half-brother, Damian. I expected someone carved out of stone, with how the tabloids paint you as unfeeling and cold,” she joked. Damian glared harder. She raised an eyebrow. “You seem pretty heated and angry, like a hissing cat, to me. And by the way, I never claimed to be a Wayne. My last name is Dupain-Cheng, and I don’t plan on changing it anytime soon. Having the same blood relation as you does not mean I plan to throw away the name given to me by the ones who actually raised me. But, it does mean that I will get to know you one way or another. I’m not easy to get rid of, and I’ve always wanted a sibling or two.”
That was when the room couldn’t hold it any more; everyone bar the three in the center of the room burst out laughing. It wasn’t too raucous, confusion dampening the hysteria that usually would have taken over, but there was a good round of chuckles and laughter. When it settled down, Damian’s shoulders had slightly relaxed but he still hadn’t taken Marinette’s hand. Instead, he turned to his father again.
“Explain.” He demanded. Bruce sighed, his gaze connecting with Marinette’s own identical one. He searched her for any hesitation, but only got a flash of a bright smile in return. Bruce straightened his shoulders, clasping his hands behind his back and turning to face Damian and the rest of the room.
“I found out about Marinette shortly after Damian was… introduced to the family,” Bruce admitted, resisting the urge to glance at Marinette after the hedged mention of how he met Damian. “I decided to scour every resource I had to make sure I couldn’t be surprised by another biological child. And, lo and behold, I found out that I was right to do so. Her biological mother passed away in childbirth however, so she was adopted by a couple in Paris. I did not see any need to contact her at the time. A friend of mine did happen to be in Paris back then though, and hung around to make sure Marinette was being treated well before leaving again.”
“You sent a friend of yours to spy on me?” Marinette asked, but she just sounded thoroughly amused. “Geez. Now I know where I get it from. When I was thirteen, I had a bit of a bad habit of spying on my friends when I was worried instead of confronting them head on. It took a while to grow out of, and even now I can easily slip back into the habit if I’m not careful. But, as great as this reunion is, it isn’t what I’m being paid to be here for,” Her grin turned downright wicked as she snapped open her sketchbook and clicked her pen.
“I am MDC, the owner and CEO of the up and rising fashion label Spotted Designs, where every look will turn heads and ensure confidence. Monsieur Wayne,” her grin turned into a sly smirk when she said his name, which visibly made Bruce twitch. “Has hired me today to design all of you a new outfit for his gala in four months time, as well as a casual outfit of your own choosing should you want one. Before I get started, I would like to ask you to please sign your NDAs, which my assistant and best friend will bring in for you in a few minutes, before we conclude this meeting. I go by an alias for a reason, I value my privacy, and I would prefer it if word did not get out about my being MDC just yet. Being CEO of a business I started from scratch when I’m only eighteen right now will garner attention that I am not patient enough to deal with right now.”
The silence was near palpable until Jason huffed in amusement and remarked: “Yup. I can see the resemblance.”
“Resemblance?” Duke asked, leaning forward with an incredulous look on his face. “It’s like seeing a tiny, genderswapped, innocent copy of Damian. Is anyone else terrified right now?”
“Tt,” Damian tutted, letting a heavy breath out through his nose before shoving his hand forward. He didn’t look pleased, but neither did he look venomous or betrayed anymore. “Miss Dupain-Cheng. I am Damian Wayne, and I look forward to working with you.” He greeted as if the past few minutes hadn’t happened at all. Marinette beamed, letting out a short belt of delighted laughter before clasping his hand firmly with hers.
“My competence always wins people over,” she teased.
“Only if they don’t see you trip over empty air first,” a new voice joined in, lightly joining the teasing. It belonged to a tall, blond haired green eyed man that looked about the same age as Marinette herself. He came carrying a large two-foot stack of papers as easily as if he was only carrying one sheet. Closing the door behind him with his foot, he went around the large square of tables distributing NDAs to everyone who hadn’t already signed one. “Mari’s the clumsiest person I’ve ever seen, but I’ve also seen her hand sew a double sided ball gown with a layer of knife-resistant fabric in less than thirty hours and still threaten anyone to come near with a needle to the eye, so I’ve learned to just not take anything about her at face value anymore.”
“Oh shut up,” Marinette snapped back cheerfully, rolling her eyes. “This is my best friend, assistant, and business partner Adrien Agreste.”
“I deal with all the paperwork and spotlight that she doesn’t want to handle,” he agreed, nearly blinding everyone with his beaming smile. “Now. Please sign these NDAs, and you can experience Marinette’s skill firsthand.”
After papers were signed and Adrien left, Bruce tried to start another conversation with Marinette.
“So, when did you find out—“
“I’m going to start with taking all of your measurements, if you don’t mind. You first, Monsieur Wayne.”
Bruce blinked, not used to being interrupted. “Ah. We can do this tomorrow, I wasn’t expecting—“
“That’s not my fault, Monsieur Wayne. I came here knowing exactly who I was going to deal with, and you want me to make a quite frankly horrifying amount of clothing in a very short amount of time. Any designer lesser than me would be completely incapable of meeting your deadline. I plan on sticking to my schedule, which means that we are going to get everyone’s measurements and a baseline of the kind of designs you all want done today before the end of our scheduled appointment.”
“Marinette, I would really like to talk about—“
“Arms out. And take your suit jacket off, I can’t get an accurate measurement with it,” she once again interrupted, businesslike and efficient as she took her measuring tape and lined it up against various parts of his body, jotting down the results. She didn’t entertain any of his attempts at conversation in the meantime, instead using the dead time to grill Damian on what he wanted for his suit design.
And, like a partnership that never should have existed, Damian merely smirked and played along with her game. He answered her questions thoroughly but precisely, never allowing their father a chance to make actual conversation. Next thing the poor eldest Wayne knew, Marinette had already taken everyone’s measurements and almost an hour had passed. No less than ten pages of her notebook were already filled with neat lines of notes and numbers.
“You really take this whole thing seriously, don’t you?” Tim asked, in the middle of describing his ideal suit to Marinette. She hummed, grinning up at him mysteriously. As if she was in on a joke he hadn’t heard.
“Designing is my life, Monsieur Drake. This company is something I’ve been building from the ground up since I was thirteen, I’ve made my own clothes since I was ten. Of course I take it seriously. Now. I believe that is everything I need,” she stood up, asking a few last second questions as she gathered up her things. Seeing his chance, Brucie walked her to the door.
“Really, Marinette, I would like to talk to you more. Would you like to come to the Manor tonight, for dinner maybe?”
Marinette smirked, opening the door before Bruce could and turning her head to say over her shoulder: “Not tonight, but maybe tomorrow. Do me a favor though, and try not to get too injured on patrol. I need you all in good enough shape to stand while I do your initial fittings later this week. Gotham might need it’s vigilantes, but you will all regret it if you break a bone before I can fit my prototypes to you.”
Nobody was able to say a word before she closed the door behind her and continued briskly to the elevator. Bruce stood, dumbfounded. Tim, Jason, and Dick, after a moment, started cackling.
“Oh yeah. That’s Damian’s sister.”
“Tt. At least this proves it.”
Bruce, suddenly very exhausted, turned to his son while rubbing his forehead. “Proves what, Damian?”
His trademark razor sharp smirk overtook his face as Damian replied: “Your blood children really are much more competent and effective than the strays you took in.”
“Hey!”
—*—*—*—*—*
“You didn’t have a full conversation?” Adrien guessed, looking exactly like the cat who caught the canary. Marinette had her head in her hands, her entire face red.
“I didn't know how to have an actual conversation with them, Adrien! You should have seen it, Monsieur Wayne—“
“You can just say your father, you know.”
“—Wanted to talk about feelings. Emotions! Gooey, family stuff and probably sentimental things. In front of so many people, too. I panicked!”
“You panicked and went full Business Empress mode,” Adrien agreed, patting her back in both comfort and condescension. “It’s okay. You at least agreed to dinner tomorrow night.”
“Fuuuuuuuuuck, I diiiiiid. Quick, let’s come up with a way to fake my kidnapping.”
“No.”
“Damn.”

Meeting Part one
"Marinette, sweetheart, you are adopted."
Adopted
When her parents told her they had something important to talk to her she figured it was about school or worst-case scenario, they found out about her extracurricular activities as a super heroine.
No, instead they told Marinette that her whole life had been a lie.
They sat her down and explained that she had been adopted when she was nine months old. They tripped over themselves trying to reassure her that they loved her as their own and tried to defend the reason why they never told her.
Marinette didn't know what to think. Things like this were only supposed to happen in movies. Not become her reality.
Marinette felt so confused as she tried to process it all. None of it made sense. Tom and Sabine were her biological parents. They… they had to be.
But, the truth was slowly sinking in.
Marinette had never truly understood the expression "ignorance is bliss" until that moment. Somehow not knowing the truth felt like a better option than the alternative.
"But, why now?" Marinette asked hesitantly. "If you weren't planning to ever tell me, then why do it now?"
She really hoped she was wrong, but in movies that was when they tell her that one of her bio parents died. Usually, said parent was royalty meaning that she would be next in line for the throne. Oh gosh, would she have to move to a strange country and rule it?
Oh wait, she was apparently born in America. And as far as Marinette knew, America didn't have a monarch.
She snapped out of her thoughts in time to see Tom and Sabine share a look. Finally, Sabine spoke up "Do you remember the scholarship honey?"
She did.
Marinette had been given a one in a lifetime opportunity to study in a prestigious art school in the outskirts of Paris and was offered a scholarship that covered half of the tuition.
Unfortunately, the Dupain-cheng's didn't have enough money to cover the other half. While the bakery was fairly popular, all of their savings had dried up the month prior when the delivery truck broke down, and they were forced to buy a new one.
Because of this, Marinette had to turn down the scholarship.
Marinette's stomach dropped as she realized that her parents... or well Tom and Sabine had been struggling financially, even without the scholarship, because of her, with the knowledge of being adopted she couldn't help but feel like an unnecessary burden to them.
Seeing her daughter's crestfallen expression, Sabine rushed to Marinette's side giving her a small hug before saying. "Sweetie, we love you okay? And it broke our hearts when you had to turn down that amazing opportunity, so we tried to contact your biological father hoping he would be able to help us." She explained.
"We never heard back from him." Tom chimed in "but we thought it would be better to let you know in case we do later on."
Marinette nodded. That… made sense, and it was far better than what Marinette had immediately assumed.
Still, all the information was too overwhelming. Marinette needed to talk to the kwamis, they would help her understand the situation better.
"I- I need to go." Marinette stood up and sprinted up the stairs, towards her room. Ignoring her parents who called after her.
She ran up to her bed and landed face first in it. All the kwamis flew out from their hiding spots and gathered around her.
Tikki nuzzled her cheek. "Oh Marinette, I'm so sorry."
Marinette let out a small humorless chuckle. "So, you heard huh?"
"Sure did, bug." Plagg said, floating close to her face. "Personally, I think we should find that father of yours and… you know… bless him with a not so great day."
This time Marinette actually laughed. "I think you meant curse and no, we are not going to do that." Plagg rolled his eyes.
Suddenly, Marinette felt tired. She could continue talking with the kwamis later. She needed to sleep, yeah"I think I'm going to sleep for a bit," she informed them
Tikki nodded. "Sweet dreams Marinette." The rest of the kwamis echoed this as Marinette drifted off to sleep.
~♡~♡~♡~
Plagg grinned as he turned on the computer.
Tikki flew up to him. "What are you doing?" She asked, scandalized.
"We are going to google Pigtails' biological father," he explained.
Tikki groaned, "you don't even know how to use a computer! And there's no 'we' if you want to do something that's your problem!"
Plagg smirked devilishly "Sugar Cube, we are literal gods. We can do this! Don't you want to know who he is."
Tikki begrudgingly agreed, she even helped him open the browser. "Okay so type in 'Bruce Wayne'"she instructed. "And then press that weird looking key that says enter alright?"
Plagg complied. The two kwamis turned to look at the results.
Both kwamis gaped at the screen. Plagg whispered."Well, if this is the same guy but if so-"
"Then Marinette is the daughter of a billionaire." Tikki cut in, examining the picture. "Plagg, I think this is him."
"It's the eyes isn't it?" Tikki nodded.  "Yeah, well that would mean that a freaking billionaire ignored the pleas of the adoptive parents of his biological daughter!" Plagg exclaimed, growing angry.
"Well maybe he didn't believe them?" Tikki tried to reason.
Plagg suddenly growled at the screen."Look! He has like as many kids as he has money!"
Tikki frowned, "Then why would he abandon his daughter?"
"Because he's a jerk! And I thought my kid's dad was bad!" Plagg glared at the picture causing Tikki to giggle. "What?"
"I don't think I've ever seen you so worked up over something that isn't cheese." She teased.
Plagg huffed, "well, your Bug gives me cheese, but if she's sad then she forgets. So it's really in my best interest to make sure Pigtails isn't upset."
Tikki laughed. "Yeah, yeah I totally believe you." She said sarcastically. "Anyways, do you think Marinette realizes her father is famous? "
Plagg snorted. "Are you kidding? If she knew she would still be freaking out." Tikki hummed in agreement. "Well, I think that now that we know who he is it's time to do what Pigtails would not let me do." Plagg concluded.
"Wait, what? No!" Tikki exclaimed.
"Ooo can I help with that?" A new voice asked. The kwamis turned to see Kaalki looking at them with a mischievous grin.
"Sure thing!" Plagg said just as Tikki was saying "No!"
The two ignored the spotted kwamii and began plotting how they were going to make sure Bruce Wayne would have the most unfortunate luck for at least a couple of days.
~♡~♡~♡~
It had not been a very good day for Bruce.
The DNA test had finally arrived, and he found out that he did, in fact, have another biological child. Unfortunately, Tim found the test and his efforts of trying to keep it a secret had been in vain because then most of his children interrogated him about their newfound sibling. Even Jason was there which was surprising.
Thankfully, they were wise enough not to tell Damian, because otherwise Marinette Dupain-cheng would have been in grave danger.
Dick, along with the rest, insisted that they needed to meet Marinette. So with the help of Tim, they arranged a trip to Paris for the next day. Meaning that Bruce had less than 12 hours to find Marinette and talk to her before that happened.
So as soon as all of his kids left, he asked Alfred to arrange an early flight.
Which is how he found himself in front of Collège Françoise Dupont, the high school his daughter attended.
In the rush, he had forgotten to call beforehand, so he called Alfred and asked him to inform Marinette's parents of his arrival.
Bruce still wanted to talk to Marinette before Dick or someone else inevitably found out that he had left. So he got out of the car and walked inside, only to be greeted by a very flustered looking principal.
It wasn't until she called him "Mister Wayne" that Marinette realized who he was.
"Mister Wayne! It's uh, an honor to meet you!" The man exclaimed nervously while shakily  extending his hand. "I received your call and I informed Marinette's homeroom teacher of your arrival. They- they should be in my office right now."
Bruce thanked him. On the way to the office Mr. Damocles told him "What an excellent student" Marinette was. He insisted that Marinette was one of the best students in his school. It made Bruce suspicious of the way that principal treated the rest of his students.
Finally, they arrived at the office. Marinette sat in a chair looking rather confused as her teacher stood next to her wearing a tight smile.
Mrs. Bustier introduced herself in a similar manner as Mr. Damocles.
It wasn't until she called him "Mister Wayne" that Marinette realized who he was.
Her face paled as she let out a small gasp. "You- you are my father."
In retrospect, he probably should have introduced himself to her first.

BioDad! Bruce Wayne Month
Day 1 First meeting.
Here’s my first chapter here, the only one I managed to complete before my computer died. I’ll be working on it when I can, but I don’t think I’ll be able to keep up with the demand. I will only be tagging @biodad-bruce-month, here to keep it organized.
“Thanks again for doing this, Clark. Goodness knows Gotham can’t be left unguarded. Alright, yes… a Kryptonite batarang… It sounds practical to me. I mean, there’s one in my main dining room, right now… Okay… See you then.” Hanging up with a sigh, Bruce sits in the back of the rental, his phone in hand as he watches the Eiffel Tower grow closer. He glances forward at Dick, who was bouncing in the front, passenger seat, next to Alfred, stretching his seatbelt out as he practically squishes his face against the passenger window. As they pass a school, on their way to a nearby park, their rental car is filled with the sweet scent of fresh baked bread.
A pair of rumbling stomachs break the silence and Alfred is immediately pulling over, replying as if they spoke to him, “I agree, it is a perfect time for lunch. Would you two like to go on ahead and save a place in line, while I find a nice place to park?” Dick is already out by the time Alfred starts, calling back a “You got it Alfred!” as he shuts the door behind him. Bruce doesn’t have a chance to reply before Dick impatiently opens his door and starts dragging him out of the back seat, causing the seatbelt to snag to his waist.
His grunt of pain draws a giggle from a little girl, standing near the bakery. The two of them glance over to her and see a little girl and her friend, couldn’t be older than five years old. Dick sees the familiar set of bright blue eyes and dark hair right away, and he smiles. “Hey, Bruce. She looks just like you. Maybe if you’re willing to give me a little sister you can adopt this one and get the full family set.” He chuckles at his little joke, and walks over to the two children. He doesn’t see how Bruce’s eyes scan her with a feeling of misplaced familiarity, as he gets out of the car as well. Neither of them notice Alfred watching them with a knowing smirk, before he pulls the car away.
Dick bends down to meet her eyes. “Hello kids! Are your parents okay with you being out alone?” The boy, seems to clam up a bit and cower behind the girl, but she simply smiles at him.
“Our Mamans and Papas aren’t far,” She replies in her accented English, “They’re in the bakery. My manan and papa are working there. Nino’s maman is buying lunch!” The boy hears his name and starts to quietly berate her for giving his name to a stranger. She gently placates him before returning her attention to Dick. “Are you going to eat from my maman and papa’s bakery? You should try some of the macarons, I helped make some of them.” She points at herself with a prideful thumb as Bruce walks up beside Dick.
Bruce responds with an amused chuckle, “Well, knowing that, how can we resist? Come on Richard”—He says ‘Richard’ instead of ‘Dick’ because there are children present— “Let’s go inside and give it a try. It’s been very nice to meet the two of you.” They say their brief farewells to the children before heading into Tom and Sabine’s Patisserie.
Immediately, as they pass through the front door, the two find themselves enveloped in the warm, delicious air of the bakery. As they simultaneously take a deep breath through the nose, the man at the counter notices them, and begins to bring his conversation with the woman in front of him to an end. He hands her a bag as the two children, from earlier, burst in through the door behind Bruce and Dick. The boy, Nino, as they recall, jogs over to his mother, at the front of the counter, while the girl slips under the counter door and practically disappears behind it as she isn’t quite tall enough to be seen over it. They can however, gauge the reactions of the man behind the counter to see that she runs over to the man to hug him before running into the back, where Bruce assumes her mother is.
As Bruce gazes at the assortment of pastries in the cases, Dick can’t help but stare at the large man behind the counter. He leans in towards Bruce and whispers, as quietly as he can, “Hey B.  Look at the size of this guy, he could give Bane a run for his money.” This draws a chuckle from the man as Bruce turned his head to Dick to berate him, but he’s interrupted by the sound of small footsteps suddenly running back into the bakery. Marinette calls to the man, in French, “Papa! Maman needs you to take the cake out. She said she can take care of the customers.” The large, French man pats her head and rushes into the back.
The front door opens with a ring, drawing Bruce’s attention away from the counter, to Alfred, entering after parking the car. In Bruce’s distraction a woman Walks over to the counter. “Marinette, you aren’t bothering these men, are yo—" She freezes as Bruce turns back to her. Blue eyes, she thought she’d only ever see on her little girl, meet steel gray eyes, he thought he’d seen the last of, meet again as they stare at one another, jaws slack. Alfred walks up to the silent group, barely able to hide his knowing smirk.
Dick’s gaze hops between Bruce and Sabine before finally landing on Marinette, who was equally confused and equally glancing between them. Dick eventually turns to Alfred, to ask, “Alfred? What’s happened to them?” Marinette’s eyes turn to the older gentleman as well.
Alfred simply smiles at the children before beginning his explanation, patting Bruce’s shoulder to draw him from his stupor, “Have I ever told you, Master Richard, about Bruce’s first serious relationship before he married his work?” He paused for dramatic affect as he thoughtfully rubbed his chin, “I believe that they must have broken up for her to move to Europe… I would say, a little over five years ago.”
At that, Marinette perked up, lifting her chin over the counter to shout, “I’m five years!” This draws Sabine from her stupor as she looks down at Marinette and smiles as she gently brushes her fingers through her daughter’s hair, responding, “Yes you are dear…” She returns her attention to Bruce, “It’s nice to see you again Bruce. Have you already met Marinette Martha Cheng?” Bruce stares speechlessly down at Marinette. Dick looks between them for a moment while it processes in his mind, then suddenly, an audible gasp as he brings his hand up to cover his wide grin.

Day 1: Meeting for the first time
-_-_-_-
The last fight against Hawkmoth had been a blur. A success, sure, but a success that cost her everything. With the reveal of Hawkmoth being Gabriel Agreste, came the loss of Chat Noir, as he left Plagg and the ring behind, never telling Marinette his identity. She could only guess, though she doubted she was wrong.
At first, Marinette thought that was it, that it was the only loss that she would have to lose that day.
But then she got home.
There was an eery quiet to the bakery as she stepped inside. It wasn't unusual for Marinette's parents to vacate to their apartment during an attack, to get away from glass and whatnot, but they would usually be back in the bakery by now to help stragglers from the attack to a cup of hot cocoa and a croissant.
Worry filled in her gut, a sinking feeling inside of her, like an anchor dragging her down to the bottom of the ocean.
Slowly, she walked up the stairs, dread filling her up every step of the way until she was in front of the door. She stopped, holding her breath as she listened for any sound, any sound at all, coming from the apartment.
Silence.
She opened the door, slowly, the creaking sound squeezing her heart like a hand in her chest, and as she looked inside, finally opened her eyes and looked, she could do nothing but let out a heart-wrenching scream.
And the ending, the true ending, was just as much of a blur as what was the beginning. What she thought would have been the end.
There had been burglars that had used the chaos of the final battle against Hawkmoth, to break into the apartment to try and rob them. Her parents had just been unlucky to be home when it happened.
It became a mess of lawyers and child services after that, trying to figure out where Marinette should go, as she tried to hold herself together with the help of Gods and friends. Still, if there was one thing Marinette remembered clearly, it was the day she was told the truth about her father.
"I'm sure your mother was going to tell you at some point," the family lawyer said, in that voice that sounded like it was meant for a 7-year-old or a scared animal, rather than a teenage girl who risked her life to save the very city they were in, even if he didn't know it. "but... your father is not who you think he is. She wrote down, that if anything were to ever happen to her and Tom, that you were to live with your biological father. I'm sure this comes as a shock to you, so I understand if you need some time to think. We've already contacted him, and he has accepted the responsibility of taking care of you."
It was so much change in so little time, but Marinette supposed that was nothing new.
-
Bruce was at a loss. The last few days had been calm, as calm as they could be in Gotham. He knew something was wrong.
When he got the phone call, his heart had stopped. Sabine, a woman he actually truly cared about, even after their relationship ended abruptly, was gone.
She left him a daughter he didn't even know he had. And he accepted the responsibility of taking care of her, without a trace of doubt or hesitancy in sight.
Marinette, however, was arriving, and he had yet to actually break the news to his family. Heck, he had yet to actually meet the girl himself. Bruce ended up deciding against meeting her at the airport, though. He felt that it was for the best, if not to just keep his family occupied while Alfred got her.
Bruce could tell Tim was suspicious, had been, for the last couple of days, ever since the call. It made sense that Tim would be the first to notice, he had always been the most perceptive. He had yet to actually confront Bruce on the matter though, and that was perhaps for the best because despite having known for a couple of days now that Marinette would be arriving, he still had no idea how to tell his family.
His biggest concern was Damian. He had almost killed Tim over the position of Robin, Bruce didn't know how he would react to his position potentially being contested, though Bruce had no plans of turning Marinette into the next Robin.
Marinette was his blood, his family, and yes, Damian was too, but he was raised by assassins since he was born. Marinette was innocent, and Bruce wanted to protect that. He owed at least that much to Sabine, even if she never told Bruce about Marinette.
In a way, he could understand why Sabine never told him. Even though she never knew he was Batman, she did know he was Bruce Wayne, how he always had a target on his back. Marinette, if she had been with the Wayne name, would have a target just as big, just by association.
Now, Marinette would be leaving her little bubble of safety, of Paris, and come to a town, grittier than she would ever be prepared for.
Bruce supposed he could only do his best to make her feel welcome.
Gathering the boys into the dining room before Alfred arrived with Marinette, Bruce allowed himself to take a deep breath.
"I have something important to tell you, and I need you all to listen to me carefully," Bruce started, leveling a hard gaze at his sons. "A couple of days ago, I got a call, informing how someone very important to me passed away and that... she- left someone very dear to her for me to look after."
Bruce winced at his own wording and wondered for a moment how he had become so bad at telling his family things. Truthfully, he was never really good at it, to begin with.
"Wait, are you telling us you adopted another kid?" Jason asked incredulously, clearly not happy with the news, and by the look on his face, it seemed Damian agreed with the sentiment.
"I didn't adopt Marinette," Bruce said. "I am her father, biologically."
It was ghost-quiet now, as no one dared to utter a word, shock radiating off of them.
And then, there was a knock at the door to the dining room.
-
It was a lonely feeling, arriving into a new city, and be greeted by a butler rather than someone who was supposed to be her dad. Still, Marinette thought, at least Alfred seemed nice.
She stayed silent in the car ride to the manor, letting the sound of rain hitting the window lull her into a fake sense of calm and serenity, as she ignored the incoming storm and thunder. Perhaps she was overreacting, nerves and all, but she wondered what a man like Bruce Wayne expected his child to be like.
Would she be disappointing to him? Would she even matter? He already had a family, wasn't she disrupting his peaceful life? Should she even care?
Dejectedly, she let out a sigh. There was so much she didn't know, and this new city filled her with dread, just as suffocating as Paris. She could feel it, seeping from the ground, and infecting the people. Marinette wondered if this was what Paris would become now.
She was pulled out of her thoughts, however, as the sleek black car pulled to a stop, in front of what she could only describe as a victorian dream house, complete with gargoyles and all. She hardly even noticed Alfred opening the car door, umbrella in hand.
As Marinette walked up the steps, she could only truly wish that this would be a place that she could heal. To take a break from all of the responsibility and let herself mourn and grieve, and as Alfred opened the doors of the manor, she allowed herself to take a deep breath in, straighten her back, and lift her head.
She could hear a voice now, muffled behind doors and walls, and all at once fear gripped Marinette's heart like vines with thorns, cutting and never letting go. She tightened her hands into fists and forced herself to calm down, grabbing her emotions and curling them into a ball, throwing them deep into a far off corner in her mind.
The voice stopped talking, total silence filling the room for a moment, only to be interrupted as Alfred knocks on the door, just as calm and collected as he had been from the moment he picked her up from the airport.
He opened the door, and slowly Marinette walked, seeing four different guys, all of whom she supposed were now her brothers, until her eyes landed on Bruce, her dad. Her actual, biological dad.
Marinette's breath was shaky, but she hid her nerves well, something she was very proud of, as she felt the eyes of them all on her.
"Master Bruce," Alfred started, "may I have the honor to present to you your daughter, Marinette Dupain-Cheng."
Marinette's eyes scanned them, reading them in a way they would probably never get, before something finally clicked in her mind, allowing her to breathe, if only slightly. Marinette bowed respectfully to them, rising with a newfound calm centering her.
"It's nice to meet you all," she said, bluebell eyes just shy of calculating.

Day 1: Meeting for the First Time
When Bruce Wayne received a letter from one of his many ex-girlfriends, explaining that he was the father of a girl; Due to her own inability to cope with her role as a mother and the fact that she couldn't trust him to keep her safe in Gotham, she decided to give her up for adoption to a French couple and that the only reason she decided to confess was because she was dying, this was her attempt to have a clear conscience and leave in peace.
That simple piece of paper was more than enough to begin his own investigation to corroborate those facts, with Tim's help and discretion he was able to quickly find a lot of information including our genetics of his alleged daughter, a quick DNA test later. Bruce confirmed his paternity.
It had taken a few days and a long talk with Alfred and Tim to decide to personally meet their 7-year-old biological daughter, Marinette Dupain Cheng.
But first he would have a chat with the adoptive parents of his newfound daughter.
Which wasn't a good idea because Bruce was forced to do an emotional damage control to Tom and Sabine's surprise, bewilderment and then fear at the potential possibility of losing the sweet little girl they love; It felt bad of him to intrude on the life of this happy family.
After the anguish, clarifications and promises.
The Dupain Cheng couple agreed to allow Bruce to meet Marinette, with some kind of family friend, a support figure close enough to have a family relationship and also distant enough not to make her a target for the rogues, in addition to their extracurricular activities.
Then one day in the afternoon, Marinette met her for the first time her "uncle" Bruce Wayne from Gotham.

Maribat Master List
Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 6 | Day 7 | Day 8 + 9 | Day 10 | Day 13 + 14 + 16 | Day 17 | Day 30
Day 1: Meeting for the First Time
Bruce Wayne, or should he say right now, Batman, wasn’t really sure how to react. Today, he was about to meet the daughter he’d always wished to see but was not allowed to for eighteen years; the only problem was that something came up. And that something is a pest named Riddler.
The riddle-enthusiast had just escaped from Arkham and is causing trouble in a nearby museum. And honestly, Batman was almost tempted to use his “No Killing” Rule. Instead of spending the time to prepare for his daughter’s arrival, he has to subdue Riddler and his goons! All on his own, if he might add, since his sons are all occupied, so it may take a little while to subjugate them (meaning less time to prepare)!
Dick is away, visiting his own wife and daughter. Tim had been too worn out in handling the company (which, he realized, must’ve been too much for a preadult like him to do and should’ve been his job to handle), so Alfred had made him stay back and rest (and sleep, most importantly). Damian is still in school and he can’t really pull him out all of a sudden just for some vigilante work (because, honestly, even if lives could be at stake, it’s still a pretty lousy excuse to skip school. Not to mention, secret identities are still a thing, right???). And Jason might be away for a mission, he wasn’t really sure whatever he does anymore.
Letting out a sigh, the Dark Knight skids the Batmobile (can’t he just call it a car? Or will that ruin the whole “aesthetic” he has going on?) into a stop in front of the museum where Riddler was supposedly causing a scene, again.
“Batman,” Commissioner Gordon greets him as soon as he steps out of his vehicle.
“Any updates on what’s happening inside?” he marches over to the building that’s on high lockdown.
“Riddler’s been targeting on this one hostage and he’s locked her in another room, all by herself.” he passes over a device and shows him a video—or was it a live feed? —from the scene inside where a girl is in a room solving what seems to be a whole wall of puzzles. Interesting how she looks a bit too calm for someone who’s in such a situation.
“And he’s also activated a bomb,” the cop adds.
“A bomb?” Batman raises an eyebrow as he continues to watch the feed. That's a pretty unusual move for someone like Riddler.
The officer nods and takes back the device and gives it to another cop who runs off to who knows where. “Riddler says that if the girl hasn’t gotten out of the room and finished all of his puzzles yet by the timer runs out, then the whole building would explode.”
“Did he ask for anything? He's bound to have some sort of goal he’s trying to get,” Batman asks as his eyes roam around the building to look for a possible entrance since the front door is most likely barricaded from the inside.
“There’s a kid—some billionaire’s kid—inside and he’s asking for ransom,” the older male explains and waves over to the side of the building. “We’ve also found a way to get inside for you and—” he briefly looks over behind Batman and pauses, “—you.”
“Everyone has prior commitments today,” the Dark Knight answers his unasked question and pauses for a bit as he tilts his head to the side by just an inch so the action isn’t really that visible. “Although, I do have Agent A to look out for me.” his voice a tad bit soft for he knows that his pseudo-father is listening in on their conversation through the Comms.
“All right,” Commissioner Gordon nods and looks at him straight in the eyes. “Good luck.”
Batman nods back, a small smile (though he was sure it wasn’t really that visible to anyone) gracing his features as he rushes over to where the entrance they were talking about was.
Jumping down inside the building, the room he was met with was pretty dark. The only light he had was the spotlights from the sculptures showcased on the sides and the paintings hanged on the walls.
“Any intel on where Riddler and the hostages are?”  he asks through his Comm and briefly looks around.
“Based on the live feed, they seem to be in exhibits that focus solely more on monochromatic paintings.” the regular posh voice of Agent A calms him down to a silent rage (to Riddler for interrupting his preparation time for his daughter’s arrival!). “And from what I’ve gathered, those kinds of paintings are in Building A, Room 203.” Batman grunts in affirmation and races to where the Englishman had just instructed him to head, running and knocking out goons that he encounters on the way.
Standing in front of Room 203 with the door jammed shut, he briefly wonders why the other side is surprisingly quiet instead of hearing the regular maniacal laughs and blood-curdling screams. Wasting no time to idle around (his meeting with his daughter is on the line here!), the vigilante busts down the door, only to be met with a scene shocking enough to break through his expressionless mask.
Five to ten people are huddled on the side with loose ropes on their feet, their eyes filled with awe as they hug whoever they might be associated with. Three to five goons, that must be the ones guarding them, lie unconscious on the floor. While on the opposite side of the room, stood a girl—a very tiny girl—holding an afraid(?) Riddler by the collar, muttering words that make the vigilante look at her with mixed surprise and amusement before punching the said villain square in the face and dropping his now unconscious body to the floor like a sack of potatoes.
As soon as the villain’s body hits the floor, the girl spins around and their eyes meet (though he was sure the girl didn’t know that because of his cowl) for a moment and Batman briefly wonders why her eyes seemed so familiar; where he had already seen those same blue eyes that stare right back at his own, when it hits him! Her blue eyes have the exact same shade his own eyes have!
“Merci Dieu,” he hears the girl mumble and her shoulders sag in what seems to be relief in seeing him. She immediately runs over to and drags him by the arm with enormous strength that it almost made him stumble. “Come, Monsieur Batman, we need to open the doors to get out of here!”
It took a minute before the initial shock wore off as he stares at the girl—the super tiny girl—that’s hauling his two-hundred-pound body over to the exit. What has she been doing all this time to get this strong?
Batman quickly shakes his head to rid of his shock and solemnly nods before following her pace. Something about helping the small girl beside him open the barricaded doors felt somewhat familiar that it didn’t seem strange at all.
————————
As soon as his body hits the chair, Bruce sighs in relief in making it back in the manor before his daughter and her parents arrive. “I suggest you get ready, Master Bruce, they are bound to arrive in any minute now,” Alfred says and disappears just as quickly as he appeared. One day, he’s sure he’ll get a heart attack and die with all of Alfred’s surprise attacks.
Just as he was contemplating his life choices, Bruce hears the front door shut and talking voices emit from the foyer. He quickly stands up from his seat and brushes and straightens his suit. Better make the best first impression or else his daughter might not want to come over and visit him a second time, or a third time, or any time at all.
A genuine smile splits his face as a familiar French couple comes into view and right behind them is a very familiar girl. That very same girl who has very familiar blue eyes that just handed Riddler his ass a while ago...
Well, now at least he’ll have a chance to ask her what her training regimen is. And maybe even have a try in training her himself too (hopefully Sabine will let him).

Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 6 | Day 7 | Day 8 + 9 | Day 10 | Day 13 + 14 + 16 | Day 17 | Day 30
P.S. The “billionaire’s kid” they were pertaining to wasn’t Marinette ;)
EDIT: Okay forgot to put this omg
You see Bruce and Sabine had like a relationship back in the day which led to of course Marinette but Bruce didn’t know that. He only just found out when like he was invited to Sabine and Tom’s wedding (they broke up yes but they were still friends). And Bruce was... let’s say he was panicking? Because “oh dear I wasn’t being careful” “I’m so sorry”?
So yeah that thing led to another, Bruce saying he’ll pay for the medical expenses Sabine and Tom saying “no it’s okay”, then all of a sudden, because of his panicked state, Bruce says “I’m not asking to be a part of her life (I mean I really do want to be) but if you say no then I won’t be. Jut please let me see her, let me meet her when she turns eighteen.”
Then like before either Parisians could say that everything’s all right, he could still be a part of their daughter’s life, Bruce goes away.
Basically Bruce was thinking too far ahead... A bit too far ahead. And then he got the wrong idea.
So yeah, but don’t worry, he still sends Marinette gifts for whichever events come... anonymously though.

This prompt is for bio dad bruce wayne month, day 4, “Habits.”
@biodad-bruce-month
HABITS
________________________________________________________________
It had been two months since Marinette came in the manor. Instead of the gloomy, dark feel the manor now felt much lighter, brighter with Marinette. Dick's nightmares have visibly decreased. All three of the siblings' laughter often fills the manor. Marinette goes to the school with them. They got to know that Marinette is a genius. She was immediately at the top of her class. Whenever she gets a nightmare, she has her brother's to calm her down. She once saw that Dick has a habit of back flipping and he show-offs a lot. When she asked Jason about that his grin widened. "Let's play a prank on Dick." "No Jay-Jay." "Come-on." "No." "I promise he will not get hurt. Much." "Is he going to be mad?" "Nah! Pixie I had played so many pranks on him that I've lost counting." "Ok then." They moved the table near the bed. Dick woke up in the morning and back-flipped to stand but instead of standing, he bumped into the table that somehow got there. He groaned as Jason laughed. He wanted revenge which he will get. Dick went to Marinette and said. "Cupcake.........." "No dicky, I didn't- I asked him not to, please don't get mad Dicky." Dick smirked. "I will not get mad if you help me prank Jason." "Will he not be mad?" "Don't worry cupcake, he can't be mad. He has no right to be mad when he thought it was okay to prank me." "It wasn't?" "We don't mind prank cupcakes. Are you ready?" "Yes." They put a small speaker in Jason's hair when he was sleeping. Jason woke up next morning. He looked around him to find Marinette and Dick gone. "Where did they go?" He went to Bathroom and looked in the mirror. He shouted,"Fuck!!!" when he saw drawings on his face and his chest. As soon as he said it a voice, very gruff like Alfred and Batman mixture said,"Language." He shouted," Who the fuck." Which earned him another language from the voice. He continued cursing earning him more "language" "Marinette, Dick, you little shits." "Language." "Why in the fuck would you do that?" "Language." "urghh...............Which motherfucker invented this shit." "Language." "Okay okay language. My sweet siblings why did you do that I can't control cursing its a habit!" He had to beg them to remove that and he promised Marinette that he will not take advantage of someone's habits.
Marinette went to Bruce,"Ubaba, you are batman?" His eyes snapped to her. Jason and Dick also staring at her crazy when they entered. "Who told you, mon chou? Was it Dick or Jason? I am Batman. I wanted to tell you before but Mon chou I'm sorry. I will show you the batcave if you promise to not tell anyone." She looked at him in confusion and nodded. She had a habit to nod when she couldn't find any answer. Bruce took her to the cave. "Wow, dada are those bats?" "Yes mon chou, promise me you will not tell anyone. I wanted you to be a little older to tell you. How did you figure it out?" Alfred came in just in time," Master Bruce, I believe she didn't figure it out you told her." Bruce looked at Marinette," I just wanted you to play with me. I wanted you to play batman with me." With that Jason and Dick laughed, clutching their stomachs. Alfred cracked a smile as Bruce's hand automatically went to the bridge of his nose as he sighed.
________________________________________________________________
Alfred has a habit of being at the perfect place on perfect time.
I tried to make it funny.

Bio!Dad Bruce Day 9- Last Name (Wayne)
ok, so, if youve paid attention, the you know that i can’t write dialouge for the life of me lol.so today…i bring you dialouge in the form of texting :)
Marinette didn’t make a big deal about who her father was. Of course, when she had just met the man, she had relied on her friends to help her navigate the tricky situation. Since then, the teen had gotten good at only saying what she needed to. Chloe knew. Nino knew. Kim ands Alix knew. Max knew. They all knew and didn’t bring it up. They knew that she had processed it and moved on. To her, Bruce Wayne was just her father. She didn’t talk about the money, or all the work her father did. Marinette made a point to just be herself, and not worry about what names were attached.
At school, of course, she was Marinette Dupain-Cheng. On her ID? On her ID, she was Marinette Cheng-Wayne. Only those who needed to know knew. That how Marinette liked to keep it, at least, if she could help it.
When Marinette was 14, a new girl joined her class. The girl was sweet, if a little delicate. She said she had a lot of different injuries and conditions, but who was Marinette to judge? When the girl started to cling to one of the boys, Adrien, Marinette got a little worried. It wasn’t the end of the world, if he had offered to help, but he looked uncomfortable. When she mentioned this to Chloe, the girl had snarled. “That leech has been worming her way into his head. If you could hear what Gabriel was telling him to do- “her friend shook her head. “If I step in, want to help?” Marinette felt a smile crawl its way onto her face.
“gladly.”
Over the next few weeks, the girls watched what their new classmate, Lila, did. By that point, Nino had brought up his own concerns at fit far too well with theirs. Finally, Chloe decided it was time to take action. The blond stormed into the class and settled into her seat with a scowl. When Sabrina hurried over to join her, Chloe shook her head. Marinette took pity on the redhead and tugged the girl to the back of the class with her, whispering a quiet “watch”. When Nino and Adrien came in, Nino made his to the back, where he plopped down next to Kim. Alix and Max sat across the aisle, and all of them were ready for the explosion that was bound to happen. As Lila and Alya slipped in together, chatting and giggling over some story, the others exchanged glances. They had all been pretty close for years. Because of that, it was hard for others to join their group. The newest addition was Sabrina, and that was only because of her tendency to hang around Chloe. A ding on Kim’s phone drew the groups attention, making them all glance down at their own phones. In the group chat, Alix had sent a video linked to the LadyBlog.
Alix: saw this, this AM. Might be worth looking into. (video attached from the LadyBlog, Titled The Secrets of the Wayne Family)
Mari: wtf
Mari: what is she trying to do
Mari: her ass will get lawyered so fast
Max: she obviously hasn’t thought this through
Kim: is she claiming to know them????
Chlo: oml
Chlo: SLANDER
Chlo: please Mari, please tell me that she doesn’t know your family?
Mari: I mean
Mari: she might? But I think her family name would have come up when Tim and I were planning world domination if she did.
Max:!
Mari: don’t worry, its been put on the back burner. Dad has a new kid that keeps trying to stab Tim w/ a Katana lol.
Nino: Mari, aren’t you supposed to go visit soon? Maybe you should just stay here, dudette.
Chlo: ITS SHOWTIME
The friends hurriedly stowed their phones away and returned their gazes to the front of the room where Lila had approached a confused Adrien. The boy had been deposited next to Chloe in the first row, confusion evident in his green eyes. The Italian girl leaned over the desk, trying to garner as much attention as possible. “Adrien, why don’t you come sit with me? I was hoping you could help me keep up with the lesson.” The dangerous flash of her eyes was so fast that most would have missed it. Marinette narrowed her eyes in suspicion. It looked like Chloe hadn’t been exaggerating about what was going on behind the scenes. Moving before things could get out of hand, Marinette skipped down to the desk.
“I can help, Lila! Literature is one of my favorite subjects!” the anger that glowed behind Lila’s eyes was worrying, but Marinette wasn’t worried. She grabbed the other girl by her elbow and tugged her towards the seat the brunette usually occupied. “I’m sure that Alya wouldn’t mind sitting next to Sabrina!” as Marinette settled into the new seat, Lila folded herself onto the bench and pulled out her notebook, shunning her new seatmate. As Marinette got her own supplies ready, she mentally prepared herself for an hour of clod anger directed at her.
After the bell rang, Marinette slowly started to collect her things. The girl next to her was moving faster than the noirette expected. For a girl who was supposed to a wrist injury, Lila sure wasn’t trying to avoid the pain. Shaking her head, Marinette finished collecting her stuff and went to join Chloe where she was waiting at the door. As they linked arms, Marinette realized that there was a sharp voice behind her, crying. “Oh Alya, it was awful! Marinette wouldn’t answer any of my questions, and told me that if I didn’t understand it, I should keep my mouth shut!” Chloe sniggered next to her and strode away towards the lockers, pulling Marinette with her.
“Honestly, Mari? I wish you had told the brat to shut up, maybe then she would be scared of you.” Marinette rolled her eyes at her best friend.
“your only scared of me, because you’ve seen me with Tim, and know that we already are on the path to world domination.” Chloe shook her head and closed her locked with a soft thud.
“Mari, you are worse than all of your brothers, simply because you don’t use your fathers name to back you up. If you did that, then you would have the same royal brat rep I do.”
Chlo: so, is anyone going to put a stop to the liar’s yapping?
Adrien: wait what? Chloe, who are the other numbers?
Chlo: Adrien, please.
Chlo: do you really not have these numbers saved already?
Nino: yeah dude, that’s a little mean
Mari: lol yeah, I’m insulted, Adrien!
Adrien: Wait, Nino?
Adrien: who…is in this chat?
Alix: Me!
Max: Markov and myself
Kim: and me, man
Adrien: that…doesn’t help.
Chlo: oh honesty!
Chlo: you idiot, its Mari, Nino, Max, Alix, and Kim.
Chlo: you are Ridiculous
Chlo: UTTERLY RICICULOUS!
Mari: Chloe, chill. I don’t think he’s been in one of our…unique chats before.
Max: affirmative. Adrien usually spends time with Nino, Alya, and Lila if he isn’t with Chloe and Sabrina
Chlo: back to the topic at hand!
Chlo: the brat has to stop
Mari: I mean…she hasn’t done anything we can stop her with yet.
Nino: we need solid proof
Alix: are we just going to forget this AM? (video attached from the LadyBlog, Titled the Secrets of the Wayne Family)
Adrien: is someone going to tell me what’s going on?
Mari: we can’t drag them into this, Alix. it’ll make it worse, not better.
Alix: M, are you sure? we could shut her up real fast. Your fam, mine, Chloe’s?
Max: theoretically, it would be the path of least resistance.
Mari: THEY ARE A LAST RESORT
Mari: I AM NOT LETTING JASON MOCK ME FOR THIS
Mari: bc that ass totally will.
Adrien: ok, but what’s going on?
Max: Lila is trying to use you to catapult herself to fame
Kim: haha yeah, its not going to work if we have anything to say about it.
Chlo: also, very happy Mari never brought Alya into the fold
Mari: fuck no
Mari: do you see the way that girl doesn’t research anything. She latches on and never lets go.
Nino: so, you’ve said, Mari. I still think your over exaggerating on that one, lol
Mari: lmfao
Mari: Nino, she thinks I have a crush on ADRIEN of all people.
Mari: sorry, Adrien, bc you’re my friend? But she latched onto something and won’t let it go
Alix: shit I remember that. She tried to get us to set the two of you up. Those plans SUCKED.
Mari: remember how I kept sabotaging them lol? She just thought that fate was against her
Max: logically, shouldn’t that be a sign that you two aren’t meant to be?
Mari: haha I wish. After that, she tried to set me up with Chat Noir.
Chlo: WAIT
Chlo: that’s what Lady Wi-Fi was about?
Mari: yesssssssss
Adrien: um…should I be concerned about this?
Kim: I mean…no? its normal at this point.
Max: Chloe, plan #3 might work for taking down Lila? We wouldn’t need Mari’s family to join in if we do that.
Mari: if that fails, I’ll call Tim.
Mari: but ONLY if #3 fails, and we can’t make say…#5 work.
Chlo: you got yourself a deal, Marinette.
When the group entered the classroom together the next day, Chloe and Marinette were chattering excitably together. Adrien and Nino were talking about something on his phone while Max was keeping sore for whatever competition Kim and Alix had going on. When Lila approached Adrien and tugged him over to her seat, the others tracked her movement wordlessly.
When Alya came in and found them watching, she smirked at them. “those two make a cute couple, don’t they? Lila was practically glowing earlier when she was talking about the date they went on last night.” The friends exchanged telling glances but otherwise brushed the girl off as they dispersed to their seats. As she made her way to the seat she had claimed at the back at the beginning of the year, Marinette paused by Lila’s desk.
“Lila, do you need help again today? I know that the topics we’re covering are a little difficult if you’re not familiar with them.” The brunette scowled up at her.
“sorry, Marinette, but you can’t really keep up with the help I need.” The smaller girl shrugged.
“I’m sorry that you feel that way, Lila. If you ever need help, feel free to ask.” as she made her way to her seat, Marinette could hear Lila say loudly
“She’s just jealous that I have connections like the Wayne’s and Jagged stone and she’s just a little miss nobody.”
Mari: fuck it, it’s on bitch. I’m calling Jagged and Clara. These are slander charges now.
Chlo: should I expect your family’s lawyers too?
Mari: hell no. Tim is a last resort.
Mari: dad’s friend tho? THEY are defiantly going to be getting a few phone calls.
Mari: hey Jagged, Penny. I have just a tiny question.
Penny: Marinette! We were getting ready to contact you! What’s going on?
Mari: what kind of slander would be bad enough to sue over?
Penny: why?
Mari: this (voice file attached. Label reads SeNd To JaGgEd ASAP)
Jagged: little lady…where did you get this?
Mari: I recorded it during class today
Jagged: this liar is your age?
Penny: Marinette, would you mind if I send this to our lawyers?
Mari: go right ahead.
Tim: so…
Tim: would you like to explain why Jagged Stone is ranting to B in the entryway about a “little lying brat” who is in his “favorite niece’s class?”
Mari: wat
Mari: idk what you’re talking about
Tim: Little Bit, you can’t possibly think he hasn’t name dropped you yet.
Mari: WHAT.
Mari: fuck
Tim: ummmmmm
Tim: WHEN DID YOU START CUSSING?
Mari: tim. Please remember who my brothers are.
Tim: OH neverminded
Tim: why didn’t you get me involved?
Mari: theres no reason for Marinette Dupain-Cheng to know the Wayne fam
Mari: also, we wanted to use #3 and #5 first. If they didn’t work (they are) we were going to rain fire lolz.
Tim: fine. When your ready for the power that comes with the name, lmk
Tim: aslo, I insist on being included in the planning.
Mari: also*
Tim: fuck off
Tim: I wan to be ready for whatever damage control might be needed with the press
Tim: also, I live the kind of chaos that you and Chloe create together lolz
When Adrien turned to Marinette during lunch that day, there was clear confusion in his eyes. “Mari?”
“what’s up, Adrien?”
“who was that guy…Tim? That Chloe kept mentioning?”
“oh? She didn’t tell you?” the blond shook his head, looking worried. Marinette smiled ruefully and sighed.
“he’s my older brother on my father’s side.” When Adrien furrowed his brow, Marinette elaborated. “My father lives in the United States and runs a big corporation. He spends a bit of time in the limelight, but he keeps us all out of the press.”
“the…Dupain family?” Marinette laughed before smoothing over her friend’s confusion.
“no, Tom is my dad, but Bruce is my Father. He lives on the east coast, and I spend most holidays and breaks with my siblings over there.” Adrien nodded and smiled at her.
“I guess that makes sense. Its really cool at you get to spend your time with both sides of your family like that. What is your father’s last name then? I don’t think I’ve heard it.” Marinette winced.
“My father’s last name is Wayne. Anywhere except school, I use the name Marinette Cheng-Wayne.”
ok, thats a wrap. for once, this could be read by itself with almost no context. this will fit intothe overall storyline, but i had to go back and set the stage (this) for when Mari is 15. here, its the begining of the school year that she turns 15. (her b-day is in April bc i want to mess wiht cannon even more than i already do.)

Chapter 1: Meeting for the first time
-
MASTERLIST | AO3
-
Despite it only being five in the afternoon, Bruce was exhausted, feeling a headache blossom the minute he stepped into the manor.
It hasn’t been a year since he had returned to Gotham and he already wanted to go back to traveling around the world. The only reason he was even in Gotham again was due to finding out that someone was trying to sell WE from right under Bruce. The stupidity.
Just when he thought he could get a break, he found an unexpected guest in his study.
Bruce didn’t know what to expect when he saw Talia in his study, holding what he assumed to be a duffel bag.
The last time he saw her was roughly a year or two ago...after he found out she is part of the League of Assassins.
Why was she here? And with a duffel bag, no less.
Usually, duffel bags caused him to be wary, but this time around, it set off various alarms to go off in his head.
Why was it laid gently on her lap?
Why was it small?
Why did it have netting and straps around it?
Why was it fidgeting?
“What are you doing here Talia?” Bruce finally decided to acknowledge the woman.
“Beloved, it’s nice to see you too.” Talia said softly, setting down the duffel bag gently on his chair, Bruce now realising that she wasn’t in her usual attire but instead in a nice sundress and cardigan.
“What do you want?” Bruce growled, Talia walking up to him, placing a finger on his lips, hushing him. He quickly pulled it away from him, noticing the soft smile on her face.
“You’ll wake the baby.” Talia softly addressed, looking over at the bag she had left on his chair.
“Ba-”
“She’s my daughter...or rather, our daughter.” Talia watched as Bruce looked at her with wide eyes, looking at the bag and then at Talia. “She’s a product of our passionate night in Paris, remember that night? At the suite you reserved for the two of us, about a year ago?”
“How can I forget that?” Bruce asked tenderly, making his way to the duffel bag that started to fidget some more.
He peered inside the bag, which turned out to be a customized baby carrier. He was met with the most stunning green eyes he had ever seen, reaching towards the baby before he stopped himself from caressing her face. “Are you-”
“I assure you she is yours. But if you still have doubts, feel free to run some tests.” Talia spoke, Bruce feeling her rest her head against his arm. “Since she is ours, I want you to have her.”
“Have?” Bruce repeated, tasting the anger underlying his words. A child wasn’t-
“Father wants her dead.” Talia bluntly stated, Bruce feeling her nails dig into his arm. Oh. So that’s why she was here. “A bastard out of wedlock, a product made from broken traditions...and a girl at that.” Bruce watched as she frowned. “He said he would have forgiven our little elopement had Amira been born-”
“Amira?” Bruce said breathlessly, noticing how gently the name rolled off. Finally giving into his curiosity, he reached out to touch the little girl’s face, only for her hand to reach for his own first. Her stubby little fingers wrapped around his fingers, grasping it tightly.
It was only then that Bruce truly understood how small she was, how defenseless she was against the world and how heartless Ra’s was...even to his own blood.
“That’s the name I chose for her.” Talia said softly, walking up to Amira and taking her out gently from the carrier.
The girl remained still until she was placed in her father’s arms.
Amira squirmed against Bruce’s hold until she stopped a few seconds later. Now snuggled closely against Bruce’s embrace, Amira looked at her father before closing her eyes. “She already loves you.”
“Talia.” Bruce looked at Amira and then at his beloved. “I’m not-”
“I- no. We have no other choice, no other option Bruce.” Talia placed her hand over Bruce’s arm, patting down Amira’s tuft of midnight hair. “Either she lives under your watch or,” Talia shut her eyes, her lips curving downwards a bit. “Or I would be forced to put her six feet under.”
Bruce didn’t say another word, knowing that was to be a promise if Bruce says no. Luckily, that wasn’t the case.
“I promise to take care of her.” Bruce said, pulling Talia into an embrace, planting a kiss on her temple. “Amira will be safe from Ra’s Al Ghul as long as she remains here, under my watch.”
“That I hope.” Talia responded, letting herself cry as she caressed Amira’s face one last time. “Take care, my princess. Know that every second that we are apart, I will always be thinking of you.”
With a final kiss placed on the little girl’s forehead, Talia left the manor, never to be seen again.

Just Another Class Trip :)  Part 2
Marinette sacrifices Adrien and then steals his alter ego.
First<>Next
----------------
With the help of the staff Marinette is directed to the room she will be sharing with Chloe and Kagami. It was meant to be two to a room, but yada yada Lila yada yada medical condition yada yada tears= Lila gets her own room.
“Marinette,” Kagami spots her first, rising from the couch.
“Mari!” Chloe vaults over the couch and hug tackles her, Marinette barely moves an inch, “You should have heard all the shit Lila was saying on the way here, you’d think it be enough she got the class to leave you behind!”
“Perhaps it’s best if you do not,” Kagami pulls Chloe off her, “You didn’t answer your phone,”
“Flat,”
“Bags?”
“Stolen,”
“Lila?”
“Probably,”
“Well lucky for you housekeeping dropped this by earlier,” Chloe hands her a box, inside filled with essential items, tooth brush, hair brush, even a pair of pyjamas, along with a note
‘Courtesy of the Waynes, for Miss Marinette Dupain-Cheng’
“Must be a generic package,” She had shrugged off the bellhops earlier saying her bags were lost.
“Well since you don’t have to unpack, help me with this,” Chloe leads her over to their kitchen that might actually be bigger than her houses.
On the counter beauty products are lined up along with random ingredients.
“We’re making face masks!”
“Correction, Chloe is making face masks,” Kagami scolds, “I argued that sleep would be more effective,”
“And yet you didn’t go to sleep,” Chloe teases, mashing up avocado.
“Well not without you,” Kagami smirks, making Chloe blush, but it’s not like her to back down.
“Awe, you’d wait for me~” Chloe relishes in the blush dusting Kagami's cheeks.
Marinette dry heaves, wondering how long they were going to keep pretending to flirt like this, each too stubborn to back down. They have been doing this more and more recently, great that they were more comfortable around each other but…
“How about we go to bed,” Marinette disturbs their challenging stares.
“Not without Kagami,”
“I already used that one,”
“I never said we’d use the bed for sleeping~”
“Hey!” Her exclamation doesn't get them to drop their staring contest, “Do either of you know what room Adrien is in?”
“End of the hall,” They both answer, not looking at her.
“Great,” Marinette hastily grabs her bag and the box, she could get ready in Adrien's room, away from the weirdness.
She practically runs down the hall, ignoring her Kwami’s snickering.
“Mari!” Adrien throws the door open for her, “Did everything go ok, you didn’t answer your phone, you look upset,”
“Sorted everything out with security no problems, Phones dead, Bag stolen,” She plops down on the couch next to Nino, “Chlo and Kags are driving me crazy,”
“How long have you been back?” She looks down at her watch.
“Three minutes,”
“Are they doing that thing again?” Adrien, Kwami bless him hands her a mug of coffee.
“Yep,” She takes a sip from the mug, she retracts that blessing “Betrayal! This isn’t coffee!”
“It’s hot chocolate,” Adrien is in the kitchen fixing another mug, “You need to go to bed, and coffee will keep you up,”
No she needed to go on patrol, and a coffee is vital to her surviving it.
“What’s up with Chloe and Kagami?” Nino takes off his headphones.
“They started teasing each other by jokingly flirting but their both too stubborn to back down," Marinette sighs, downing half the mug of hot chocolate so she can get herself a damn coffee, "So they get uncomfortable then we get uncomfortable and its overall very uncomfortable,”
“I think it’s kind of funny,” Adrien sits down next to her, mug in hand.
“It would be if they both weren’t horrible at flirting,” She steals the mug away from him taking a sip.
That is not coffee, that is sugar disguised as a liquid
“That’s the funny part,” Adrien smiles as she hands back the mug,
“Touche Agreste, Touche,”
“If you wanted you could sleep in my room,” Nino offers, oh so innocently.
“Thank’s Nino, but I would rather Alya not kill me,”
“Nah dude, I was going to stay with Alya anyway Madame Bustier wont mind,” Yeah their teacher really should learn not to trust teenagers, "So you can have my room,”
“Nino you are a godsent,”
Nino cleans up his few thrown about items and bids them adieu. Marinette was glad they could still talk, maybe they were even still friends. When you have the devil in one ear and her loyal sidekick in the other it is actually kind of impressive they still have a friendly relationship.
“So how’s your day been?” Marinette gathers up the strength to start a conversation after making her own coffee, and her mouth was only very burnt from chugging a hot drink.
“Good, Chloe took us to a supermarket, I brought a bunch of american snacks!”
Indeed he had, Marinette watches in mild horror as he plops bags full of junk food in front of her.
“I didn’t realise we were feeding an army,” Adrien starts rooting through the bags, “If a super villain comes after you because you brought all their favourite snacks in Gotham I’m not protecting you,”
“I’d just share with them,” Adrien hums, chomping down on a chocolate bar.
“... Yeah that could work,” Dear Kwami I have to protect this sunshine child,  “Maybe,”
“Oi, don’t eat too much, I don't want to have to re tailor your outfit for the runway,” She teases, regretting it immediately as Adrien's shoulders sag.
“Sorry,”
“Adri I’m kidding,”  She places a hand on his shoulder smiling gently, “I already made the measurements a bit bigger so you’re good.
“Have I ever told you you’re the best?”
“Not enough you haven't,” Marinette huffs in mock offence, “Now eat,”
She shoves the chocolate bag in his face, getting it all over his cheek. They both start laughing as Adrien tries to get his revenge. They end up falling off the couch, Marinette on top of him. Adrien is blushing a bright red, Marinette just grins and shoves the chocolate in his face before getting up.
She could almost laugh at how her younger self would react to that. It wasn't as if she didn’t like Adrien, well maybe not in that way anymore, she honestly hadn't put that much thought into it lately. Things just got busy she supposed, Akumas got harder, then she became the guardian, she started her fashion career. Actually her fashion career might be at fault.
Gabriel had started lending Adrien to model for her more and more. The man stepping further and further back from the fashion world, or the world in general, over the years for whatever the reason. At first she had been a blushing mess around Adrien, not directing him properly and making her work suffer for it. Overtime she had learnt how to handle it, getting less flustered every time they worked together. Now that she thought about it, when she had revealed her identity as MDC Adrien didn’t seem surprised; maybe her work attitude had bled into her regular life well before then.
Marinette is washing the chocolate off when a knock sounds at the door. Neither feel like walking to it so shout out ‘come in’. That turned out to be a mistake as Lila bursts into the room. How were they supposed to know Lila would actually knock?!
“Marinette you slut!” Lila all but screeches.
“Lila, you don’t have an audience and neither of us believe you,” Marinette comes out of the bathroom, already bored of the conversation she really needed to go, Lila and Marinette both.
“Well just wait, tomorrow the whole class is going to know what you did,” Lila gets up in her face, so close she can smell her perfume.
No not Lila's perfume her perfume.
“Right, sorry to say but there’s worse rumours than sleeping with a supermodel,” Marinette tries to edge her way around Lila, good excuse as any to dip out for patrol.
“Not if I say you forced him,” Lila looks way to self satisfied for what she is implying
I think the fuck not
“Nah,” Adrien shrugs, getting Lila’s ire turned on him, a noble sacrifice indeed.
“Nah?” Lila looks livid, “What do you mean Nah !”
“I’d just say I wanted to,” Adrien stays calm with Lila's face inches from him, Marinette gives him the thumbs up as she edges closer to the door, Adrien nods back.
She loved this version of the high road
“After all Marinette's super pretty and talented,” Adrien gushes, Marinette grins at the face Lila must be making, “Honestly your lie is so unbelievable, why would she ever go for someone like me?”
Marinette closes the door on Lila’s cursing response, saying a quick word of praise for Adrien's bravery and sacrifice.
At least he gets to see Lila’s reaction when she realises I’m gone
Marinette uses a back door of the hotel to get to the street, not wanting the staff to stop her and warn about the dangers. She skips along looking for a good place to change. The city was actually kind of beautiful at night, she feels drawn to it in a strange way.
“Marinette!” Tikki looks out from her scarf, “You forgot the Miracle box,”
“Shoot!” She looks back to the hotel, a few blocks away from it by now, “It’ll be fine Tikki I leave it at home all the time,”
“You’re not at home right now,” Tikki looks worried, those are her friends after all, “It’s a guardians duty-”
Marinette tries not to groan, she really does.
“I know Tikki, I know,” She looks over the buildings surrounding her, feeling a deep itch to see Gotham from the rooftops “But can’t I just be myself for once, not the guardian?”
“You are the guardian,” Tikki insists, before sighing, “Which means you can make your own decisions regarding the miracle box,”
“Thank you Tikki,” She hugs the little Kwami, “I promise to be back super quick, I just have to stop one bad guy, an eye witness account of Starling so I don’t just appear randomly, I won’t even need to go on patrol again after this,”
“Alright Marinette, I trust you,” Tikki nuzzles her cheek, easing Marinette's conscience.
With that she ducks out of sight to get changed. Her costume is pretty simple really. All she had to do was pull her infinity scarf up, discrete holes allowing her to see. She turns her skirt inside out to a black side, with white, purple, and blue detailing to stick to her Starling namesake. The skirt pulls over her shoulders, a zip down the middle allowing her more movement, and a zip to form a secret hood.
Ready to go she climbs up to the roof, super strength and speed making roof hopping easier. She supposed if someone looked too hard they would be able to piece together pieces of her costume but her ‘cape’ hides the detailing of her shirt. Besides if she has her way she won’t have to use this identity ever again, but she rarely has her way.
About ten minutes into her search through Gotham she spots a broken window. Not notable except that the lights are on. She lowers herself onto the fire escape and sure enough someone is being held at gunpoint.
“Excuse me,” Both people jump, spinning to look at Starling casual sitting on the broken glass on the window sill, “You seem to have a very rude house guest on your hands,”
“Who the hell are you!?” The burglar turns their gun on her.
“Just a stray passing through,” She gives a bright smile, and a very Chat like bow, “Starling at your service… milady,”
If I’m going Chat I might as go full Chat Noir, hope he doesn't file a lawsuit against me
“Ummm,” The woman looks very confused, but not as confused as the burglar.
“Would you like me to remove him from your home?”
“Ah… yes?”
With another smile Starling makes her move. In the split second it takes the burglar to register her offer she's standing in front of him. The gun moves a second too late as she ceases his arm, her strength being as good as handcuffs. She hits a pressure point her Aunt taught her to make him drop the gun, kicking it away. Pinning the man's arm behind his back she spins him around, zip tying his hands.
“What the fuck!!”
“That’s no kind of language,” Starling reprimands, pushing him towards the window, “Now apologise,”
“What?! No way fuck you!” Starling grins, hooking a bungee cord to his shirt.
“Alright then, bye!” She pushes him out the window.
His screaming doesn't stop even when she watches as he bounces back up, dangling out the window. She grins.
Ladybug would never get away with that
Tying the other end of the cord to a post, she double checks to make sure everything is secure before turning back to the victim.
“So sorry about the rude intrusion milady,” She bows again, in jest, “Have you contacted the police?”
“Yeah… what are you?”
“A Starling bird,” Starling spins, showing off her cape, the patterning placed to resemble wings, “I though the name would be a dead give away,”
“Yeah, but what are you? A Bat? Vigilante?”
“Vigilante yes, Bat not so much,” Starling can see as she looks more cautious after that, “Just happened to be passing through Gotham when I saw you in need of assistance,”
“Right... ok then...” She sits down, letting herself slump over the couch, “Ugh, this has been a terrible day,”
“How so?” Starling eyes up the kitchen, “Besides from mister bungee jump out there,”
“I was almost out of work this afternoon when a new rumour about the Wayne's blew up,” Starling nods along, turning the oven on and picking out ingredients.
“I work in the PR department at Wayne tower, do you have any idea how hard that is?!” Starling shakes her head finding a bowl but no measuring cups, she could just estimate.
“They have new bruises everyday,” Starling does look up to that, very concerned, “Don’t worry it’s not abuse or anything, they really are just dumbasses,”
Starling snickers a little bit at that, pouring in ingredients like second nature.
“I once asked mister Drake why he had a giant bruise on his forehead, he told me he passed out at his desk and just slammed into it!” Starling does laugh at that one, “Like?! How am I supposed to tell people that without sullying the Wayne name?”
“I think its funny,” She did clearly not agree, Starling changes the subject as she starts mixing “What was the problem today?”
“Nothin much really someone took pictures of mister Drake talking and giving a ride to some girl with black hair and blue eyes, and now everyone thinks she’s a Wayne,”
“That’s all it takes?” She starts placing the cookie dough on the baking tray, “Maybe I should apply?”
“Nah, you’d sooner be Batman's kid than Bruce Wayne's,” She cracks the first smile Starling has seen so far, “He’s got the same amount of kids, if not more,”
“Maybe they should share custody?” Starling puts the cookies in the oven, “Double the number each,”
“Yeah, how about no?” She smiles more, which is good, “I can’t imagine having to explain away the bruises the Bat kids get,”
Starling smiles, the sound of sirens now drawing close.
“I guess that's my cue to leave Milady,” Starling jumps up onto the window sill, the burglar still shouting below, “Take the cookies out in fifteen minutes,”
“Hey,” Starling looks back, “Thank you,”
“No problem,” Starling sends a dazzling smile, “Good night, Milady,”

Meeting for the First Time
Bio!Dad Bruce
So here is my first contribution to the Bio!Dad Bruce Wayne Month 2020,
Day 1: Meeting for the First Time
@biodad-bruce-month
Next
~~~~~~~~~~
Okay granted noting seemed to ever go Marinette’s way. But this was the ultimate punch in the gut the universe could send her.
It started off as a normal Friday, 8 months since the liar came back to school. 8 months since she threatened to pull everyone, she cared about from her and leave her alone. Well 6 month ago Lila’s threat came true. Today she simply walked into class and ignore the cruel stares and watched as feet would pop out to trip her. Well she made it to her desk in one piece and that was a plus.
She was pulling out her tablet and then she heard and felt something slam onto her desk. It was a binder nearly exploding with paper’s and behind it was none other than Alya. “Hey Girl” she started trying to keep her voice friendly, but the repulsion was evident in her voice. “We were wondering if you could do us a favor” she gave Marinette a strained smile and when she didn’t answer continued “Can you help me plan Lila’s sweet 16 as a way to make up for bullying her.”
Marinette was beginning to become livid, her best friend, scratch that her EX- best friend, is asking her to plan a bully’s and a Liar’s party. No, oh Kwamii No she will not be doing that. She was about to say so when Miss Bustier walked in holding several envelopes.
“Please take a seat” Miss Bustier said and that was when Mari moved the binder as far from her as possible. “Today I have the results of the genetic testing we sent a while ago.” Everyone was beginning to murmur excitedly. Mari could only shrink into her seat. She was dreading this for multiple reasons. “Marinette would you please?”
Mari stood up and walked to her teacher took the envelopes and passed them out to the designated person. She kept hers and slipped it into her bag as soon as she got back to her seat.
She knew what it would say. She knew that it would not have what her ‘friends’ would think. It would only prove as Lila would claim that she was not actually wanted and that she was bullying her because she was loved, and Mari wasn’t. Luckily, no one noticed her as they were too excited with their own results. It wasn’t until the lunch bell rang that the dreaded moment came.
“So, Mari what were your results.” Adrien asked, once upon a time she would have gushed at him talking to her but now her crush was nothing but a pile of ashes in the wind.
“I don’t know” She replied as she picked up her bag and began to head out of the class.
“Wait you didn’t look at it” Adrien practically yelled and that got the class’s attention. He was giving her a frown and couldn’t believe that she wouldn’t even look.
“Why would you not look at your result Marinette?” Lila spoke in a sickly-sweet voice. “Are you ashamed that you have someone you want to hide from the class?” everyone began to murmur and was beginning to give her skeptical glares. As if she would attack them, almost no one noticed how Kim and Nino came around to block the door.
Mari was beginning to grow frustrated that they would not let her leave and that they continued to glare at her like a criminal. She had enough. “I WAS ADOPTED!!!” that made everyone go quiet and stared at her. “I was adopted when I was a couple of moths old and I have NO intention on knowing my biological family” she turned, and Nino and Kim were shocked that she simply slipped passed them and went home.
However, she knew who her biological father was. Well that isn’t the entire truth, she found out she was adopted when she was 10 years old. Her Biological father reached out stating he didn’t know until recently that he had a child. He wanted to get to know her and be a part of her life. However, Mari was stubborn, Tom and Sabine were her parents, so she told him she didn’t want to meet. Surprise though he was stubborn as well, he gave Mari his number and to call or message him even if it were to complain about him or anything at all. This had surprised her, and she did. She texted her father with things she didn’t feel she could tell her parents.
For the past 5 years she had told him about school, or mistakes she had made, and about her passion in fashion. He always seemed to listen and just let her rant. It was good for her. When she became ladybug, she was excited to tell him about the heroes of Paris. He sometimes never answered but she saw that he read them and that was comforting.
He became someone outside of Paris who helped anchor her. He would send her gifts for her birthday and messaged her when he could, and he really did help her though most of what was going on at school. She only knew him as Father, no name attached and that was fine. That was why she didn’t want to open the letter. She didn’t want a name to the person who cares for her as Marinette.
She went to the bakery and climbed the stairs knowing that it would be quiet. Her parents were taking a trip abroad for their anniversary along with her Nonna and that left her alone. “Tikki?” the little goddess floated up to her. “Should… should I… should I look at the names?” Mari wasn’t sure if she ever wanted to know but she also knew that she possibly would like to know.
“Mari the choice is yours but know that no one not even your father will think less of you if you never want to know.” Tikki really is always sure and can always make her feel better. Mari simply nodded went to get something to eat and stared at the letter she pulled out. As she finished her lunch and washed her plate, she turned to the letter with determination she opened it and read. Her Mother was blank, meaning that she probably hasn’t put her information on any site, but does say that she is of European decent. Then she looked at her father, he had a photo, black hair, and the same bluebell eyes. He was dressed in a suit and she looked at the name, Bruce Wayne. Next to her own photo was the photo of boy with tanned skin, black hair, and emerald green eyes, the name next to it was Damian Wayne. So, she had a brother, he looked close to her age, maybe he was the reason why her father contacted her years ago. Her father was also from European decent but that was about it. She’ll look into it more after school she dropped the envelope off in her room and left to go back.
She went back to class and sat in her seat before the bell rang so she was the first person back into the classroom. She kept her head down and didn’t look up from the sketch she was working on, she heard the whispers and caught a few glances at her, but she ignored them.
“Mari?” oh Kwamii why does he have to talk now again. She looked up and his expression softened into a small smile or more like a frown. “Do you…” he rubbed his neck. At this point everyone was staring between the two completely silent. “Do you want to talk about it?”
At this she scoffed “Why?” she was confused at this they wouldn’t talk to her unless it was to yell at her so why should she be vulnerable for them.
Alix spoke up “Why do you bother asking her anyways Adrien?” she snarked throwing Mari a glare. Adrien looked sheepish, and that was when Lila struck.
“Well if she puts it out in the open, she wouldn’t bully me, since we can help her. Make her feel loved since her parents didn’t want her” she spoke calmly and sweetly, and everyone nodded and agreed.
“Tell us Mari, you can trust us girl” Alya spoke from the class.
“Now why...” Mari was cut off as Miss Bustier entered to start the class. However, not even 10 minutes into the class the door opened. A man in a suit holding a folder came into the room.
“Miss Bustier” he asked, and the teacher nodded, so he continued. “I am sorry to disturb the class, but I need to speak with Miss Dupain-Cheng”
The teacher nodded and called “Marinette” gesturing towards the door. But of course, nothing was ever simple in this class.
“Sir if you need Marinette then you should also take Lila” Alya spoke up.
The man simply looked confused, “Why would I do that?”
“Marinette is bullying Lila so if you need Mari you need Lila as well” she huffed proud of her logic.
“I am sorry, but I really only need Miss Dupain-Cheng”
“Well whatever you need to say to her you can tell all of us”
Now the man looked exasperated and he turned towards the teacher. She nodded “It is for the best whatever you need to tell Marinette you can tell the class.” She stated.
He huffed and walked up the stairs to Marinette. “I am so very sorry for your loss Miss Dupain-Cheng. If you would please come with me, you are needed to verify the bodies.” This left the class in a quiet shock. They couldn’t believe what they just heard. Mari was wide eyed filled with tears ready to fall and was numb. She didn’t hear when everyone began to speak at once demanding answers of the man. And now Mari could tell he was mad. “Really I do not need to answer your questions as this matter only pertains to Miss Dupain-Cheng, this should have been done in private, so you” he pointed at Miss Bustier “will most likely be getting a call as soon as I will report this.” This shut up the class and he helped her up and walked her out.
Identifying the bodies was a blur in her mind, she was told they died as a riot stormed the airport on their way home. She was asked if she had anywhere to go “can you please give me a moment?” she spoke weakly and the woman who was in charge of her smiled and left her in the room. Thank the Kwamii that Hawkmoth had been inactive lately, so she was able to cry and mourn. She needed to tell someone anyone, but those she loved were gone and now what was she going to do. Tikki popped her head out of the bag and patted her leg. That was when she saw her phone, she picked it up and scrolled through her contacts. She got to the name Bio! Dad and pressed the call.
It rang a few times before he picked up. “Marinette is everything okay you don’t usually call?” she started to cry, and this put worry into his voice. “Mari sweetie what’s wrong. Deep breaths with me 1 in, hold 2, out 3. Again.” He repeated this until she was no longer gasping for breath.
“Maman, Papa, and Nonna died” she couldn’t keep strong anymore “please, please don’t leave me too.”
“I won’t Mari” his voice was the softest she had ever heard from him “I’ll be on the first plane over. I won’t leave you I promise” he hung up and she was finally starting to feel lighter. The woman from before came back.
“Are you okay sweetie?” she gave her a smile.
“I think I will be?” she gave a small smile.
“That call must have helped” Mari nodded in acceptance to the statement. “Who was it?”
“My Father, he is coming for me” the woman looked at her as if she grew another head. “My biological father. My maman, papa, and nonna that died were my adoptive family.” At that the woman gave her a sympathetic smile and a hug. “they were my family but…”
“Sweetie you don’t have to always be strong its okay to be sad.” She began to cry again. She was dropped off at the bakery by Officer Raincomprix, who gave her a sad smile and then left. Mari fell asleep in her parents’ room, Tikki curled up next to her.
She woke up the next morning and opened the Bakery, allowed in the staff, and went back to the apartment. Afterwards she went back up and curled up in her parents’ bed, but a notification on her phone made her stir again.
Bio!Dad: I’m in Paris where do you want me to meet you Mari?
Mari: The Tom & Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie
Bio!Dad: I’ll be there soon I promise.
Not long after a staff member knocked on the door, she recognized the voice. “Someone is here to see you”
“Mari can I come in?” she heard Bruce and that prompted her to open the door. She didn’t care that she looked like a mess, as soon as the door opened, she hugged him and started to cry for what felt like the hundredth time in the past 24 hrs. He murmured reassurances to her and led her to the couch.
---
If anyone had told him that he was going to rush onto a plane because of the daughter he has never met in person called him crying, he would not have given you any kind of reaction. But here he is on a jet headed to Paris to meet and comfort his daughter, after her parent’s death. Yikes that is a lot to handle.
The only positive to all this is that he left discreetly enough that he wasn’t tailed by the boys. And that was a relief, if Mari had to meet him for the first time that alone was one thing but meeting Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian would probably send the child over the edge. That is considering the fact that she actually deals with and processes emotions like a human and not like a bat.
He hadn’t even finished checking into his hotel and he was restless he knew that Mari needed him and if Bruce was anything, he was overprotective of his family. And right now, one of his family was hurt and he had to do something. He texted her and she told him to go to a bakery.
Well if she said to go to a Bakery then he went to a Bakery. He stepped in and looked around before going up to the counter.
“Excuse me Miss?” he stated towards a Girl no older than Twenty behind the counter placing pastries into the case.
“Hello, how can I assist you today?” she smiled.
“I am here to speak with Marinette.”
“Ah. Your first time here right.” He nodded his head. “That girl always forgets. Follow me” he was confused but followed the young woman through the kitchen and to a small hallway and up a flight of stairs. Where she knocked on a door. There was shuffling on the other side “Someone is here to see you” she plainly stated, and footsteps were heard near the door but just shy of opening it.
“Mari can I come in?” his question was tentative but even he was surprised by the softness of his voice.
The door swung open and there she stood. Oh, she was adorable. Her black hair was in a messy bun and had blue highlights that emphasized her bluebell eyes, which were red and puffy from her crying. She fell into him into a hug and she was so small, he had to protect her from everything. The worker left and he moved the two of them to the couch.
After a couple of hours, he got the full story and to say he was pissed was an understatement. First there was the teacher and how they had handled the situation was awful, but besides that he wanted Mari safe, but he had to know what she wanted instead of making the decisions for her. He learned the hard way with his boys.
Well that happened.
Day 6: Meeting the Justice League
Marinette paced in her bedroom in Wayne Manor, running her hands through her hair as Damian laid on her bed and played animal crossing while completely ignoring her freakout.
“Dami, how did I get myself into this mess?!” she asked, frantically pulling at her pigtails. Her brother snorted, rolling his eyes unsympathetically.
“You never use your brain until after you’ve already made important decisions,” he responded ruthlessly. “All of your mental capacity goes towards planning out completely inane things like birthday parties and actually caring about what our even more idiotic class thinks about you, so when you actually need it you don’t have any intelligence left to spare.”
Marinette turned her eyes on him, the blue lightening to an icy color in her panicked annoyance as she glared at him. “Gee, thanks. I can always trust my darling brother to have my back,” she said sarcastically, to which Damian only smirked.
“When it matters? Of course. But in this case, watching the fallout will be entertaining and not at all dangerous to your physical safety.”
Damian and Marinette had been sent to live in Paris a few years back, about a year after Damian had come back to life. Marinette had been far too attached to the twin she had thought she had lost for good, and had nearly driven him crazy with how overprotective she had gotten. Right alongside that, Damian had started to become even more stifled by Bruce’s own protectiveness and distrust of him, so he quit being Robin and they were sent to PAris to try and “recover” from their “trauma” somewhere “safe and peaceful, under the jurisdiction of the JLE.”
Yeah, that was a great idea. Up until they found out the hard way that the JLE had up and abandoned the Paris headquarters and taken up unofficial residence in England somewhere. And then Hawkmoth showed up. And of course, of fucking course, an old chinese man from the pacifistic organization that acted as a direct foil to the League where they grew up somehow decided that they, out of everyone in Paris, were the best people he could find to wield the power of tiny gods to save the city.
Sure, he was right, but Damian chewed him a new asshole as soon they met for trusting complete unvetted strangers with the gods of creation and destruction.
And now Marinette had finally managed to leak to Tim, who then spread the calculated slip of information to Bruce, that Paris had had a supervillain for the past few years and the JLE had been neglecting their jobs. Which turned into Batman setting up a meeting with Ladybug and Chat Noir (Damian had tried to tell everyone his name was Chance Noir, Dark Luck, NOT ‘chat noir,’ since the last thing he needed was to be associated with Selina in any way. Nobody listened, and now he was stuck with being called Chat Noir). They had a lovely discussion about all the shit Hawkmoth did, their lack of resources, and the lack of assistance/straight up refusal to believe their word that came from the JLE.
Which led to Batman inviting Ladybug to meet the Justice League to debrief on the Paris situation. Damian had been invited as Chat Noir, but had taken the smart path and opted out. Now Marinette had to not only go to the Justice League as Ladybug, but also as Batman's daughter Hummingbird, who was being brought in for consultation along with Damian as Robin.
“I’m gonna die again,” Marinette continued her catastrophizing, Tikki and Plagg sharing a glance at once another from their spot on her writing desk. “I’m gonna die of total embarrassment. Don’t bother resurrecting me Dami, I’m just gonna die all over again once Dad finds out who we are and kills me.”
Damian snorted. “Hah. Father killing anything, good one,” he snarked back blandly. “You’ll be fine. Remember, you’re the planner and I’m the one with actual skill. You have the strangest ability when it comes to getting out of situations like these by the skin of your teeth,” Damian grinned at something on the screen of his Switch before continuing. “You’ll be fine. And if you sell me out, I’ll bury you myself.”
Marinette stuck her tongue out at him. Neither of them wanted their dad to find out that they were LAdybug and Chat noir, especially since they had already explained to him the basics of the source of their powers. They were both certain that Bruce would completely ignore how well they had been handling the situation on their own for almost five years and jump straight to the “my murderous children should not be left with the powers of destruction and creation at their fingertips,” line of thought. Bruce had never trusted them alone before, why now?
“At least help me, shaqiq?” Marinette asked, walking over and plopping onto the ground next to her bed, so she could look straight into her twin’s bright green eyes. At first, he refused to even look at her, completely unmoved. Marinette hummed mischievously, a habit that was the source of her Gotham codename. “If I go down, I’m taking you with me.”
Damian finally huffed, scowling. “Fine.”
He knew better than to doubt her. Marinette always got her way when she decided she was wronged and needed to even the score for something. Always.
—* — * — * — * — *
Hummingbird. The smallest Bat, by far, and the fastest when it came to natural speed. Hard to spot, with the sole giveaway that a short playful hum could be heard if she thought she had her prey cornered. She was hardly ever wrong.
She had also been temporarily retired as she and Robin moved to some undisclosed location to get away from the vigilante life for a while. Or so Batman said. And for the most part, aside from the occasional League gathering here or glimpse that they got of the two’s civilian personas if someone visited the manor while they were there, Robin and Hummingbird stayed retired. Heroes who knew them wondered if Robin had finally given up and settled down somehow, if he was even capable of it. And they all speculated that Hummingbird was so scarred from Robin’s death that she wouldn't ever be able to leave his side again, retired or not.
 Seeing Hummingbird in her navy blue and black uniform, almost identical to her brother’s but for the thick navy blue scarf that covered her neck and lower face, everyone in the Justice League who knew her thought they were right. She stood there, older and only a little taller, never leaving Robin’s side as they traded secretive glances and hand signals only they understood. They didn’t make any attempt to stray from one another’s side.
But Jon Kent, superboy and Damian’s oldest friend, was of a different mind. He had been by Marinette’s side after Damian died, and by both of theirs when he was brought back. This was not the same terrified dependence he had seen back then. His eyes narrowed.
The twins were scheming, and nobody else would notice until it was too late.
Quicker than they could blink, he was by their side with his trademark smile. “Hey guys! Long time no see!”
They gave the half-kryptonian identical deadpan expressions, sighing in tandem. “You facetimed us last night. And you flew to Paris to visit us last week,” Damian pointed out with a raised eyebrow. “Despite us expressly telling you not to.”
Jon shrugged. “If I listened to everything you two said all the time, we’d never have any fun. So, excited to meet this Ladybug girl? Dad says that your dad won’t tell him anything about her until she shows up.”
Hummingbird and Robin traded looks before Marinette answered. “Not really. We see Ladybug in action in Paris all the time—”
“She even saved Marinette from an Akuma who was obsessed with wanting to date her,” Damian interrupted with an insufferable grin. Marinette elbowed him hard, making her brother wince before chuckling at her red face.
“I could have saved myself just fine! It’s not my fault we have to lay low, or we might get kicked out of Paris for being past vigilantes!” Marinette argued, voice high as she protested how helpless Damian had made her sound. She puffed her cheeks out in annoyance. Damian’s grin widened into a predatory smirk that showed off teeth.
“Oh? What about that one time that Tsurugi got akumatized, and Chat Noir had to save you because she wanted to duel you for the right to date me and you were cornered?”
Marinette growled, throwing up her hands in frustration before smacking Damian’s shoulder angrily. He only laughed at her. “I’m leaving! Come find me when Ladybug finishes explaining the things we already know!” with that, a fuming and embarrassed Hummingbird stormed out of the room.
“Huh,” Flash remarked, leaning against the wall. “She looks a lot better than the last time I saw her. And she actually left your immediate vicinity. Willingly,” he remarked to Robin, who glared at the speedster.
“It’s been almost six years. If you think my sister is weak enough to be that thoroughly encumbered by the past for so long, you are greatly underestimating her,” he looked around to see almost all of the gathered League members staring at him. He grit his teeth and looked over at his father. “When is this woman going to arrive, anyway? You’d think she would actually be on time.”
Just then, a portal opened in the middle of the room and Ladybug walked through. Quickly shedding the brown costume that allowed her to teleport in, she was left in just her black and red-spotted combat suit. Seeing as they finally found out how to alter the costumes the Kwami gave them, Ladybug’s hair now sat in a braided bun on the crown of her head and her costume was made to look more like Nightwing’s with the ladybug symbol on her upper chest and between her shoulder blades on her back, with black gloves that reached up to her elbows and black knee-high boots with red stripes up the sides.
The brightly colored heroine smiled, seeming to light up the room with cheer that nearly put Jon to shame (it took her awhile to perfect that particular smile. She actually based it off Jon himself, and Damian was impressed by how accurate she had been able to make it over time. Not that he would say as much out loud).
That was when Diana started choking on thin air, and Damian and Marinette both realized that they had overlooked something rather major.
Hippolyta had been a Ladybug. Diana had met Tikki. Diana knew how to see past Tikki’s glamour.
At first, Ladybug tried to play it off. Maybe Diana would catch on and help her out. So she walked over, holding her hand out for Wonderwoman to shake and putting on another wide smile for good measure.
“Oh my Kwamii! It is so good to finally meet you, Wonderwoman, Tikki told me so much about you and your mother! Would you like to talk later—”
“Marinette Wayne, how in Zeus’ name did you become the new Ladybug?” Wonderwoman instantly yelled, making Marinette wilt. Damian tried backing away slowly, only for Diana’s eyes to then shoot over to him and narrow dangerously. “And you! I knew I felt something weird, but now I can pinpoint it. You are wielding the Black Cat! One of you explain what is going on. Now.”
Ladybug and Robin instantly looked away, getting ready to make a quick escape right as their father walked up behind Robin, putting a firm hand on his shoulders. As always when Batman smiled, it sent a shiver down everyone’s spine. Marinette gulped a little.
“I agree. Marinette, I forgot to tell you that we changed the locations of the League security cameras last night,” shit they were so busted. Bruce must have suspected them of something from the very beginning, stupid world’s greatest detective instincts— “But now that we have confirmed that my suspicions were correct, we can save that discussion for later. First, let’s debrief on the Paris situation like we agreed. Then, you two will explain why you decided not to tell me while you help each other clean the entire Batcave tonight.”
Damian didn’t open his hand for the entire meeting. He and Marinette made eye contact as soon as everyone sat down for a suddenly very uneasy debrief, silently agreeing that they would not let their father take away their Miraculous. They finally had names and reputations of their own, away from the Batclan and their father’s influence. They had learned more about themselves and what they were capable of in those past years as Miraculous wielders than in all the years of the rest of their lives combined. They wouldn’t give it up, not even for Bruce’s approval.
But when they got back to the Manor and began cleaning up the batcave as they had been ordered, they were surprised when Bruce made no mention of taking their jewelry back at all. And he stayed up with them, silently reviewing things on the Batcomputer as they cleaned. It could almost be considered family bonding.
By the time the twins were done cleaning the sun was about to rise, and finally their father spoke up for the first time since they had begun their punishment chore.
“I watched days worth of your Paris battles before going out to meet Ladybug and Chat Noir in person,” he said without ever turning around from his spot at the computer. “I was impressed. I still am. The teamwork was flawless, and the Parisian heroes never used deadly force. They even did their best to provide emotional support to the victims who were akumatized. I thought for sure at least one of you two would have been victims yourself, with all that you’ve been through. Anything can be a trigger for you, anything can make you vulnerable to Hawkmoth,” Bruce paused to take a sip of coffee. He didn’t have to look at his children’s reflections in the face of the Batcomputer to know they were drinking in every word he said. He did anyway, allowing a small smile that they couldn’t see to form on his lips.
“I scoured through every akuma attack one by one, trying to find the one where one or both of you were the ones possessed. But I only found more reasons to be impressed by the heroes instead. By the time I was done looking through every scrap of video I could find, I had a feeling I knew who you were. Hearing your voices in person cemented it further, but I wanted video proof. So, knowing that Marinette would have forgotten about agreeing to accompany me to a JL meeting, I asked Ladybug to debrief us.”
“You had us from the start,” Marinette sighed, shoulders slumping. But Damian said nothing, eyes wide as he picked up on the nuances of what Bruce was saying that Marinette was too tired to catch on to.
“I’m proud of you two.”
Then, even Marinette froze. The twins had identical expressions of shock on their faces, and Bruce finally turned around to look at them properly. For a long while, the three of them only made silent eye contact as dozens of emotions flew through the air silently, but understood. Then Damian and Marinette straightened up just and silently. Damian nodded to his father, Marinette gave him a vulnerable little smile, and then they both backed out and went to head to sleep.
And once they were gone, Bruce sighed in content. Seems his meet-the-Justice-League plan worked out perfectly. He had finally managed to say something right to his two most troublesome children, for the first time. He leaned back in his chair, gazing up at the dark bat-infested cave ceiling as one more tiny grin played on his face, a little melancholy this time.
Guess they never needed him to help them find their inner hero, after all. They had become even better at the whole hero thing than he was, and all on their own. Bruce closed his eyes, not noticing when Alfred draped a blanket over his body and left the Cave with a soft chuckle.
BioDad! Bruce Wayne Month
Chapter 2 Father-Daughter Bonding
The second day, a day late. Please enjoy, I’ll have some more Marinette-centric chapters up soon, I promise. @biodad-bruce-month
At this point, Tim is, to put it mildly, frustrated. He lies prone, in the corner of one of the mansions many hallways, using a small mirror to look past the corner and watch Bruce open the door to his personal study. Tim quickly pulls the mirror back and tucks himself against the wall to avoid detection, when he notices Bruce turning his head in his direction. He doesn’t check with the mirror again, missing Bruce’s knowing smirk in his direction. He, instead, listens closely for the click of the door closing to peek over with one eye.
He sighs as he sees the now empty hallway and watches the door for a few minutes, too focused to hear the soft footsteps behind him. He’s brought suddenly out of his thoughts with a sudden, “What’cha doin’?” Startled, he quickly turns his back to the floor and pulls the first thing he finds in his pocket on the man standing over him. Jason glances between Tim and the Scooby Do PEZ dispenser in his hands as he idly rubs his hair off with a towel. Tim glances at the towel on his head and then at how casually he’s dressed before noticing that his weapon still had one more piece of candy in it.
He quickly stands up to meet his eyeline, or at least try to. “Not keeping up on your water bill payments?” He starts, popping the last PEZ into his mouth. This earns a huff from Jason, as he casually drapes the towel over his shoulders.
“Water and power on my street are off for maintenance. Alfred let me in. Now, back to my question. What’re you doing?” He leans to the side a bit to look past him, into the hallway Bruce disappeared from. “Spying on B?”
Tim quickly pulls him back from the corner, as if Bruce were still in the hallway, and vehemently shushes him. After a few seconds of Tim’s glaring, Jason raises his hands in mock defeat before crossing his arms to listen to what Tim has to say. Tim Checks the corner again before starting his hushed explanation, “Okay. So, for as long as I’ve lived here, once or twice a week, Bruce will spend over an hour in his study, with all the doors shut and all the windows curtained off. He’s even got the walls of the room more insulated than the Batcave. It can’t be a meeting with the League, He has those exclusively in the Batcave; It can’t be a
“It’s like its own soundproof faraday cage; I can’t get a noise from the walls, nor can any of my remote mics get a signal through. I’ve tried to bug the room the old-fashioned way, but Bruce keeps deactivating them before whatever it is, he’s doing. I don’t know what he’s doing in there, but it always starts at the exact same time each day he does it, but this time I’ve hidden a recorder, where I’m sure he won’t find it.” Tim checks his watch and then checks the hallway again, before turning back to Jason, a thought suddenly appearing in his head, “Do you happen to know what he’s doing in there?”
Jason hummed thoughtfully, scratching his chin in consideration as he looks down at checks his watch, before suddenly replying, “Oh yeah, he’s video calling his secret daughter in France. She should be getting home from school at about this time.” He points out ever so matter-of-factly, “Have you ever tried asking Bruce what he’s doing in there?” At this he received an indignant huff from Tim, who frustratedly crossed his arms.
Seven days later, Tim had furiously thrown his audio recorder, he built specifically for spying on Bruce, at the wall of his room. It shatters on contact and leaves Tim to fume at his desk. He worked so hard on that device, perfecting its design and programming to never stop recording, even after being “turned off” and disassembled. It was perfectly designed to fit into a portion of a hollowed-out eraser. Bruce hadn’t even touched it, but it didn’t have any audio on it, because Tim, in his paranoia and sleep deprivation, forgot to turn it on, when he left it in Bruce’s study. So now he sits, furiously staring at the screen of his laptop.
Apparently, Jason forwarded his little joke to Dick and Alfred, as whenever he asks them, they tell him the exact same thing, “He’s calling his secret daughter, in France,” which of course couldn’t be possible, because Tim’s already looked into Bruce’s potential children, hacking into all DNA testing facilities in the country and finding no records to match, whatsoever.
Tim checks his watch, ten minutes until Bruce locks himself away again, perhaps he’ll have enough time to catch him in the act. He jumps from his seat and starts running down the halls. His careless sprint causes many portraits in the halls and armoire doors to become jostled by the displaced air and his occasional collision, much to Alfred’s irritation. He eventually makes it to Bruce’s study, yanking the surprisingly-unlocked door open and leaping in, “Alright Bruce! I’ve had enough sneaking around to figure this out! What are you hiding and”—His voice suddenly changes from loud and stern to soft and confused— “Whydoesthatlittlegirlonthetvlooksomuchlikeyouexcepthappy?”
He’s shaken out of his thoughts, when the girl, as if hearing him, laughs at what he said. He then notices that, in a little corner of the screen, is a box, where Bruce is sitting at the edge, turned to look behind him at Tim himself. He then notices the little camera, on the desk, Bruce is sitting at. The girl, no older than twelve, clears her throat, a giddily grinning from ear to ear before speaking up in an adapted French-Gothamite accent, “Hello Tim, my name is Marinette Martha Wayne-Cheng. Dad’s told me a lot about you, but it’s nice to finally meet you, myself.” She gives Bruce a glance, her body wiggling beneath that large, adorable head of hers, continuing, “But it would be better to meet in person. When’s your next visit?”
She looks at Bruce excitedly, who simply smiles and shakes his head with a huff of breath, “I’ll start scheduling the next Paris trip with your mother right away. I’ll let Dick and Jason know when, we’ll be heading over, as well.”
I’ll make like a big masterlist for this when the month is over I think
Day 2: Father-daughter bonding
@biodad-bruce-month
AO3
-_-_-_-
Marinette was at a loss. Things had been so easy with her maman and papa. They had game nights on Fridays, baked together in their free time, and were most importantly a family. Marinette doubted she could call what Bruce had a family at times.
At first, she thought that it was just the sibling experience and that it was something she would just have to get used to, but by now, she could even see how Bruce was... cold, at times. Distant and critical in the way that he talked to his family, in a way that almost reminded her of Kagami's mother at times.
Still though, if there was one thing Marinette did not do, it was giving up.
Marinette, with only slight hesitance, sat on the couch in the lunge like room, on the opposite end of where Bruce had sat.
For a moment, neither of them said anything, though Marinette was pretty sure that it was because Bruce simply hadn't noticed her, his attention locked on the book in his hands. Marinette clutched her sketchbook tighter in her hands, opening it slowly as she relaxed her hold ever so slightly.
Part of her thought it was dumb that she was this nervous. He was supposed o be her dad, wasn't he? Yet still, Marinette could feel the distance from him, and she wondered whether it was her own doing or his. She didn't even know what to call him when she
Slowly, though, she started to sketch, glancing up at him every once in a while. She truly wanted to give it a try, some form of father-daughter bonding, but to be quite honest, she had no idea how to go about it.
Normally, she would have a plan before doing something like this, but truth be told, she could not read the man at all, and it made it just the more harder for her to try and figure out how to talk to him. Marinette felt so ill-prepared to talk to someone who she was supposed to be related to.
Honestly, she was better at talking to her grandpere Roland than she was at talking to Bruce, and that was really saying something.
The thought of her grandpere sent a pang of sadness through her, as she thought of everyone she had to leave behind in Paris. Marinette knew that this was probably the best result that could have happened to her, all things considered, but she couldn't help but feel the slightest bit of resentment at everything she had to lose.
She looked at Bruce again, noticed how his shoulders had tensed, how his eyes, though on the page of his book, clearly weren't focused. It seemed he finally noticed her.
It made Marinette stop her sketching for a moment, as her eyes finally met his in a moment of tense silence, the both of them sizing the other up in their minds, trying to read what it was the other wanted out of the potential interaction that was looming over their heads. At least, that was what Marinette felt was happening, as she still hadn't quite gotten a read on Bruce yet.
"Was there something you wanted, Marinette?" Bruce asked, and even if she had a hard time reading him (something which was new for Marinette, when it came to people, really) even she could hear the edge in his voice as if there was something he would rather be doing than spending time with his supposed daughter. It made an uncomfortable feeling churn in her stomach.
"I just- uh, wanted to spend some time with you? I won't bother you or anything I just- uh-"
"Maybe some other time," Bruce cut her off, giving her a look that made Marinette feel like she couldn't quite question his verdict on the matter. "I've been busy the last few weeks, I just want some time for myself."
Marinette looked at him, wide-eyed, before nodding her head quickly, swallowing down the lump in her throat.
"Right, of course," Marinette got up from her seat, her eyes now finding interest in the walls rather than Bruce. "I'll just- go, then."
Dinner that night was awkward, as Marinette tried to make conversation with her family, both Bruce, and siblings, only to find that none of them were really all that happy to speak during dinner.
Perhaps giving up once wouldn't be the end of the world.
-
Marinette hadn’t gone down for dinner that day, and instead, had asked Alfred if he could bring her food to her room instead, something which he agreed to. She didn’t eat though, instead choosing to mindlessly push her food around her plate, using her fork as she stared out her window.
Gotham was no Paris, and this manor certainly was no bakery.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock to her door, and quietly, she called out. “Come in!”
It was Bruce, with a worried furrow in his brows. Worry didn’t suit him.
He walked in quietly, sitting on her bed, as Marinette turned around on her desk chair to look at him.
“Is there something you need?” She asked softly.
“I was just wondering why you didn’t join us for dinner tonight,” Bruce said. Marinette noted how his tone was softer than usual.
“Yeah, I just… needed some time, sir,” Marinette explained, somewhat awkward. She still didn’t know what she should call Bruce. Dad? No. And Bruce seemed too informal. So sir it was.
Bruce looked at her for a moment, silent as always. Marinette could feel her throat closing.
“Marinette is something- is something the matter?”
Marinette remained quiet for a moment. She really wasn’t good at these types of conversations.
“No, everything is fine, I just- need to get used to this is all,” Marinette said finally, gesturing around her room. “I’m not used to everything being so… cold. The manor, the people, it’s all just very-- cold,” She shrugged. “I miss playing UMS 3 with my papa, I miss martial arts classes with maman, I miss-- I miss having a family.”
Bruce looked at her, wide-eyed, and unsure of what to say.
“Marinette… You know that I, that we are--”
“Please, sir,” she interrupted, looking at him with the eyes of someone too old to be fifteen. “We both know this isn’t a family.”
An awkward silence settled over them, Bruce trying to understand what she was saying, and Marinette simply not elaborating.
“What, exactly, do you mean by that, Marinette?” Bruce asked.
Marinette sighed as she got up from her chair, sitting herself down softly beside Bruce, fiddling with her fingers.
He didn’t know what to do. He raised his kids with tough love and a moral pillar, neither of those being something Marinette needed. It was true, she was different from the rest, but he didn’t know what to do with that information yet.
“I just need to get used to this, because this will be my new normal from now on,” Marinette said, drying her tears and refusing to meet his gaze. “I just need to find my place here, and I haven’t done that yet. Maybe I will, maybe I won’t, either way, I know I won’t experience the same warmth I had at home here,” more tears rolled down her cheek, and Bruce could hear her struggling to keep her voice even. “and I just need to accept that.”
Perhaps Bruce should have spent more time, doing some father-daughter bonding.
