infinity train is such a funny show to use to talk about censorship. because on the one hand this teenager kills 2 cops fairly graphically (they are made of metal but they kind of goop all over the place) and is shown to be 100% in the right, but on the other hand when their transgender allegory story ends, they stay cis and use she/her pronouns without any commentary. ohhhhhkay.

I like how lake doesn’t even choose their temporary name, M.T., until they have enough contact with other people that they ask them. they had no need for a name of any kind while they were flying solo, because it was enough to define themself by what they were not (a reflection. a denizen of the chrome car. tulip). but once they met people who had no concept of tulip or even the mirror world, who needed to know who lake was on their own, they chose a placeholder and started to figure out who they wanted to be.

It seems to be sayin you can’t have a complete identity without other people affecting you. even though lake wanted to avoid being influenced by anyone, knowing alan dracula and jesse brought out parts of them they couldn’t have accessed without them, and lake liked those new parts of themself :) instead of being not-tulip, they became a person of their own.
