i desperately need people to understand that while having lots of different labels and language for people who choose them is great, part of the great beauty of the queer community is the inherent overlap and shared experiences between different identities. policing people's identities so harshly that any acknowledgement of overlap between them is punished is exactly antithesis to community and acceptance and making eight thousand different microlabels for every possible experience of something and insisting that every label is rigid and unflexible only pushes people further apart.

i have nothing against people who willingly choose and like microlabels but we also need to accept and encourage the immense variation and overlap in queer labels and people who have untraditonal connections to their labels because thats what brings us together. everybody shares histories and experiences with each other to a certain extent and pushing people into rigid boxes and infighting about it benefits nobody.

#again if you personally like a microlabel and use it because it feels the best descriptor of your identity #good on you!! #but #dont force microlabels onto people who dont want them #and dont become so preoccupied with them that you cant see the strings that connect us all together #we must stand together as a community if we ever hope to dismantle a heteronormative society
