Well, fascism won in Argentina.
Big thanks to the local oficialism who legitimated him as oposition back in May and used their contacts to lift him up when he was a nobody back in 2017.
Big thanks to local opposition for also betting on fascism.
Big thanks to Blackrock group, Vox and Bolsonaro's evangelical lobby.
Big thanks to the media for pretending his plan of erasing public education, health and his genocide apologism was normal and not heinous.
This is a calculated move, not an organic win.
I'll never forgive. Never.
The political heads will be fine, they know they can play the resistance and still have their jobs and their good living in four years. THIS was their bet and I'll NEVER forgive them.
International friends, please, pay attention to Argentina. We've got a defender of the worst genocide in our history now in goverment and a man who wants to take away all social rights, including LGTBQ and workers's rights. He's got a faction of extremists on his side.
There's no epic here. If it all blows up - it will - it's going to be desperation, not resistance. I won't forgive those playing at being revolutionaries, I won't forgive this urge for blood from so many.
Please, pray for us, I guess. The Storm is here.

I like to think that Black Mask keeps working with Arnold/Scarface because he thinks Scarface is really fun (maybe even a call-back to how he had kept his childhood toys until he tried to burn them all in some weird symbolic rebirth), even if he makes the risk of something going wrong significantly higher
Scarface is a high risk-high reward kind of mobster, it seems that when he works, he really works, but when he doesn’t, whatever team he’s in sinks directly to the bottom. Though, Black Mask might not even see the risks. He’s the kind of guy to just go for something, even if it won’t work.

Thank you for answering my Warwick ask! The death of this old lady ruffled up a lot of schedules it seems haha. I couldn't help but notice how you mentioned Warwick as something they worked on Vander's BODY. Do you think Vander is dead and W is his reanimated corpse with access to the host's memory? If not then didn't Vander choose to revive vander as a mindless monster like creature rather than someone having their mental faculties and personality kept intact like Jinx?
Yeah, she's causing a lot of chaos here, but I might get to see her, which is pretty unexpected and momentous, so I'll put up with the insanity in town for the next few days...
Regarding Vander being dead or alive... Funny you'd ask, because I was arguing with @spicedrobot about that just yesterday. They think it's more likely he's alive, and I prefer the idea that he was frankensteined. But I checked the lore because of our conversation, and it's true that the Warwick description doesn't say or imply he was dead, only that he was experimented on and struggles a lot with memories of his past.
I think him being alive makes more sense, and gels better with Singed getting him to his place and on "life support" ASAP...
But to me this implies that Silco, who was RIGHT THERE, didn't "double tap" to make sure Vander was dead, or didn't sort some sort of burial. I just don't picture him walking away and not doing something for Vander. If he came back later with goons to move the body and found it gone, I don't think he'd be very casual about it... Don't think he'd sleep well at night with Vander's body nowhere to be found.
So I prefer the theory that whatever the state Vander was in, Silco sent him to Singed. And him being dead, but maybe kept unusually "fresh" by shimmer, would explain both why Silco doesn't care much what happens to him, and why WW gets no memories of his past.
This is pure speculation, and I'm honestly not bothered either way. I'm not sure the show will be wanting to play Frankenstein... But then again they went out of their way to show his eyes fade and his immobile, unbreathing body...
I kind of don't want Arcane to become Star Wars, where nobody is dead until you see them on a pyre or dissolved into the Force. The lack of double tapping in recent SW shows has been criminal.
As for your second question, I don't think Jinx can be compared to Vander at all. 5 to 10 years go between Vander's "death" and the finale, where WW is not even finished. This is a long term project with many parts added in and taken out, and his very being morphed into an animal... "Transformed by agonizing experiments, his body is fused with an intricate system of chambers and pumps, machinery filling his veins with alchemical rage."
Jinx seems to just have gotten some quick and dirty surgery on a LOT of shimmer. We don't know how long it lasted, but Silco can't have been out more than a few hours.
I think Silco was thinking : "omg omg omg omg my daughter must live, do anything you have to, she has to live"
Versus "yeah, do your creepy experiments on him, whatever".
I don't know that he was that invested in what was happening to Vander/WW. I made a speculative post about that in the past which you can find here, implying that Jinx knew about WW's creation too...
And honestly I think it's dark but probably my favourite take. Silco can't truly let go, Jinx feels better about him still being "around" too, and both of them lose track of the project as nothing seems to really change or come of it over the years, but they're both aware that Singed is working on him. You can work lots of complicated feelings in there, and the idea that Jinx would be the one to give the middle finger to Singed and break WW out of his lab.

When I see people sharing so much of their kids' lives, I think about that one time my child told a joke, I shared that joke with ONE FRIEND in a private conversation, and my child said "can you please ask me next time, before you tell people something about me?"
And, yes, I absolutely should. So I apologized, and now I ask.
"I love that video of you, can I show it to a friend?"
"Can I tell a friend about how clever you were just now?"
"Can I share this in the family group chat?"
"Can I show your art to grandma and grandpa?"
And it's not like my kids don't like when I share their jokes and puns and fun moments. They love it! But they want to have control over what I share with people. Even without their faces or their names. Even people we know and trust.
And they deserve to have that control.
My children are small so the examples are small. They wanted me to ask, so I ask. Just like being told to kiss my grandma's cheek when I was a kid was far from traumatizing, but I don't do that with my kids because it's a way to practice consent and become aware of bodily autonomy.
It gets both me and them in the habit of asking for consent and drawing boundaries and seeing the lines between their life and my life, their stories and my stories.

english's pronunciation rules are absolute bullshit poopoo made up crap but one of my favorite side effects of this in written english specifically is like. altering the spelling of a word in such a way that it's technically pronounced the same. but reads very differently when your eyes go over it in written form. and that sort of dissonance between the proper spelling and the altered spelling producing the same basic sounds in your brain creates an unprecedented level of comedy.

I forget Pope Francis is like, an actual referent to people.
For me, he's just that guy from my city that got on a nasty fistfight with my history teacher back when she was a student's president and he was the university chairman. She made his life impossible FOR YEARS and it only stopped because she graduated.
They met again on the subway when they were old people and he was the city's bishop and the lil pope man was STOKED to see her and greeted her like an old friend.
So yeah, my favourite high school teacher went to blows with The Actual Catholic Pope.

I like to think that at least once, the Avatar cycle seemed to skip the Water Tribe—like people knew it was the water tribe’s turn, everyone was looking for them, the tests are done on all the kids, but like 60-80 years go by and no avatar until some Earth Kingdom kid shows up. People wonder if the cycle skipped a generation or what, but nothing serious was going on at that time so they shrug and move on.
It’s only many many years later that someone is researching Swampbender oral history and someone tells the story of “Ol Stinky Jess, she was a funny one, could light the swamp on fire an’ all sorts o’ shenanigans! Best catfishgator catcher in the tribe, she was” and thats literally it, she just lived a totally chill life in the swamp and nobody knew what an avatar was at the time so they just rolled with that funny gal’s odd bending ways.

Seeing a steady rise of people using the library as we carry through summer break, so here's a quick thread from a staff member on little things you can do (for free!) to make life easier on staff. Let's go!
If you want to put a book back, DON'T put it back on the shelf! Put it on the return cart or bin, or give it to a staff member. Not only does this make it MUCH easier to catch misfiles and gather abandoned books in one trip, our budget is literally based on returns. Putting it on a cart gives us more money!
(To expand on the above: not only do we get paid more based on more returns, our book-buying budget for next year is based on what titles seem popular. Even if you don't check out a stack of books, putting it on the cart lets us know there's an interest so we can order more in that genre and support that author.)
Conversely, if you see a cart already full of books being pushed around by staff, PLEASE don't yank books off it or loiter around it. Carts are unwieldy and returns can build up quick, so let a shelver have space to move around and do their job.
(Again expanding on the above, especially please don't yank books off a staff person's cart if you see them pulling books off the shelf instead of putting them back. Books are pulled for a reason--hold requests for another patron, damaged, need to be relabeled, etc--so taking one can really throw off our list.)
If you rent a DVD and notice it's scratched or doesn't play, please tell us! We don't have the time or resources to watch every returned DVD, so we rely on patron feedback. Even a note tucked inside the case helps it get flagged for damage inspection when we're processing returns.
Pay attention to news related to your local branch! The VAST majority of book-banning demands we get are bulk lists from only one or two people--which means contesting them (or requesting a challenged book) also only takes one person.
Remind your friends that most libraries don't do late fees anymore! We want to be a safe haven for low income and disabled/nd people, so don't let being late or disorganized or poor or anything else discourage you. Bring your books back whenever you can, or just mention to a librarian if you lose it, and you're always welcome to come back.

The way they're acting like "ceasefire" means "go blow yourselves up" is just. A ceasefire is nothing. It's less than the bare minimum. It's not "rebuild what you destroyed." It's not "pay the victims remaining of the families you killed." It's not "rehabilitate Gaza." It's not any of the demands that could be made in this situation. It's just... Stop. Stop killing them. And even that is treated like it's so fucking extreme and if you call for it you must want Jews to die. Politicians with an agenda can really demonize anything.
