20. “I love you, but I need you to go away because you’re really bloody distracting and I have to pass this test tomorrow.”

Sorry this one’s really short Quinn, it’s only like 500 words, but I’ve never really written Remy or Emile before, so I didn’t want to risk drawing it out. Hope you like it anyway!

Warnings: Cursing

Remy loved his boyfriend, he really did. But said boyfriend was the one who encouraged him to go back to college and actually take veterinary classes like he’d always wanted to. Yet that SAME boyfriend had the audacity to wake up early and pad into the kitchen while Remys was staying up late to actually study for a test he had the next morning.

Oh not to mention he was wearing nothing but his boxers and one of Remy’s shirts.

His textbooks and study guides and flashcards and all the other ways he had been told to study were forgotten as he stared at his adorable boyfriend and then at the stretch of skin that showed when Emile reached up into the cabinet to get a mug. He started humming to himself and gave Remy a little wave over the counter as he started to make himself hot chocolate. Remy thought he’d be fine until Emile started swaying his hips to whatever little song was playing in his head and Remy had to take a deep breath and close his eyes.

He tried to refocus, he really did, but his gaze kept being drawn away from his papers and over to Emile who was now trying to decide what size marshmallows to put in his hot chocolate. His eyebrows were creased and the corners of his lips tugged downward. He looked like he was trying to decide who to vote for, not sugar. 

Ugh, he was just too cute! And hot! How was he both? Most people are supposed to be one or the other, or one at a time. Not simultaneously. Remy groaned and rubbed his hands over his eyes. He was not a strong enough man for this but this test was twenty percent of his grade or something ridiculous.

“Babe,” Remy called and Emile’s head shot up. He tilted his head and gave Remy a quizzical look. “I love you, but I need you to go away because you’re really fucking distracting and I have to pass this test tomorrow.” 

Emile looked confused for a second before it clicked in his brain and his eyes widened comically. He looked down at himself and used the hand not holding his Avatar mug to scratch the back of his neck sheepishly. Remy couldn’t help smiling. He shook his head to rid himself of the gay thoughts so he could focus.

“Sorry hun,” Emile apologized. He came into the living room Remy had taken over and leaned down to peck his lips. “For good luck.”

With that Emile gave a little wave and disappeared into the bedroom again. If staying up late at home meant he got to see that well Remy may just study more often.

And hey, maybe Emile’s kiss really did give him luck because he got a 110% on his test.

i am only a day late! untagged and with no links but we take our wins where we can.

things i read in august

a lot of comics you guys. so many comics.

i caught up on giant days, america, rat queens and hulk.

gotham academy is finished. ~for now. it was good! although i felt like maps journey was a little bit stilted.

first volume of all new inhumans and...i dig it! swain is great, flint is great, naja is great.

i re-read artifice, a graphic novel about gay robots and shit. good fun. not totally satisfying but fun nevertheless.

i am also up to date on clue from hasbro, which i’m really enjoying.

first issue of constantine the hellblazer, which i really love! i love constantine a lot for reasons that i have Thoughts about.

i’m up to date on freelance, which so far is delightful and adorable.

first issue of gotham city garage, which is intriguing.

i’m up to date on iceman, resurrecting my teenage crush on bobby drake (who turned out queer, hella coincidence, me too!)

first volume of 2015-2016 run of midnighter. who knew there was a hero so perfectly designed for me?

read the black mould volume of rivers of london, which still gives me a warm glowy feeling inside.

i also finished fallen london, the first in the shadow police series from paul cornell. i liked it, didn’t love it. the concepts were strong but a bit out of focus and the writing occasionally left me confused. will almost definitely read the second.

also a bunch of fic! (plane rides are really long you guys, and i get twitchy in the leadup)

the short and smutty squeeze by rageprufrock in which harry hart thoroughly debauches eggsy unwin of kingsman.

only as directed, also by pru, in which someone else thoroughly debauches eggsy unwin while harry hart secretly directs eggsy’s behaviour.

bang to rights by concernedlily, in which eggsy unwin is a cop not an agent and keeps running into the mysterious harry hart (there is some debauching involved)

to know a man by moonix, in which my beloved children from the foxhole court work at a coffeeshop and no one has heard of exy. not the most in character thing i’ve ever read but delightful nonetheless.

things i watched in august

turns out being on a plane makes watching movies super appealing!

watched guardians of the galaxy vol two, of which quill and gamora were the most boring part and yondu, nebula, groot, rocket and mantis were the best.

watched the power rangers movie! so good! so sweet! so pure!

watched logan and cried quietly so as not to wake the friend sleeping on me. i love my tiny murder babe so much and want the happiest life for her with all her sweet siblings in canada.

things i listened to in august

the adventure zone finished! IT FINISHED and i’m still here, kind of. it was amazing. so heartwarming. i am seriously contemplating listening to at least the few most recent arcs if not the whole thing again.

rainbow! kesha! so much kesha!

i’ve also been really digging on the new arcade fire album everything now esp peter pan, creature comfort and good god damn

and a couple of dua lipa songs, esp idgaf and new rules.

nomad by anja kotar, which is just bliss. esp coltrane, theory of relativity and put the gun down.

slow hands and symphony have been stuck in my head all week.

as has boys by charli xcx (the video is doubly adorable)

i’ve also taken a nostalgic trip into bastille with bad blood and bastille vs other people’s heartache pt iii, esp axe to grind, remains and torn apart.

taylor swift’s new song which just. i just. i’m already tired.

i relistened to favourite worst nightmare and humbug and god do i ever love the arctic monkeys. i still know all the words to teddy picker and do me a favour and everything else.

also relistened to andrew mcmahon in the wilderness and man. will there ever be a more perfect album?

things i played in august

i have also started playing dream daddy! it is as cute and relatable (anxiety-wise) as promised and i’m thoroughly enjoying it.

things i want to do in september

so clearly we failed at the august targets, i’m going to try and be a bit more reasonable on myself this month!

i should still finish truthwitch and i’ve also just started rereading the jennifer morgue by charles stross, so i’d like to get that done.

i still need to catch up on saga, sex criminals, the wicked + the divine, bitch planet and goldie vance

i also have a whole heap of other comics to read including vol two of constantine: the hellblazer, daken: dark wolverine, dc comics: bombshells, girl over paris, harley quinn, joyride, kim reaper, midnighter vol two, midnighter & apollo, monstress, moon girl and devil dinosaur, another volume of morning glories, patsy walker aka hellcat!, stormwatch, tyson hesse’s diesel, another volume of the woods and the young protectors.

whew.

it’s hard to do tv shows while traveling so we might leave those for the moment.

i have a couple of misc episodes of rose buddies to finish.
