Y'all I'm fucking shaking and sobbing.. Kiwi had a baby 😭
I've had Kiwi since she was barely bigger than this baby. Parthenogenesis (the ability to lay a fertilized egg without a mate) is extremely rare in crested geckos.
I know she laid eggs like 2 weeks ago, but eggs take 60-70 days to hatch, so she must've laid some a while ago that I wasn't aware of.
I absolutely cannot believe this

A delightful photo of Tycho I just got of him chilling in his log being a cutiepie.

Maybe if you let a cute gecko perch on your hand you’d calm down

So I just weighed Kiwi and her baby! Look at that size difference 😭 Kiwi was 2.6 grams when I got her, and her baby weighs 1.26 grams right now (or 1.28g? My scale display seems to be broken).. so her baby weighs less than half of what Kiwi did when I got her 😭
And these two pictures below are Kiwi as a baby on the left, and her baby on the right! Even their markings seem to be identical. Kiwi is "fired down" in that picture, and her baby is "fired up", meaning her colours are darker and more vibrant. So I know Kiwi looks very dull there in comparison, but that's only because she isn't fired up! Because other than that I think they look identical

Meet Tairn, my new scaly baby!
I saw him at a reptile show on Saturday morning and it was love at first sight! So naturally, I just had to go back the next morning to get him! He is currently 2 years and 6 months old.
His full name is Tairneanach, named after the black dragon from the Empyrean book series that I'm currently obsessed with. It means "Thunder" in Scottish Gaelic.
Welcome to the family, little Tairn!
