So during the winter time, I had some kind of baby tree growing in one of my biggest pots; it didn't have any leaves and I wasn't sure what it was, usually black locust will grow on its own because I accidentally bring in the seeds from the forest.
However, I also use my biggest pot as a stand for my artificial tree during the holidays, because the tree was gifted to me without a stand, and the easiest way to fix that was to stab it in a pot of soil. I let my roommate do the stabbing this year, and I warned her, hey, there's also a tree in this pot! But she didn't even notice the feeble tree trunk and squished the soil around the plastic tree instead. I expected the tiny tree would maybe survive this, maybe not.
Anyway, weeks passed and, and as we were taking the artificial tree out, I realized there was something bright green behind it - the baby tree has sprouted leaves. But it made no sense! Not only were we in the dead of winter, but this tree was literally in the darkest possible corner of the entire apartment, and on top of it hidden behind an artificial tree, it would have received zero light, water, even the soil was all messed up and nobody was paying any attention to it!
Removing a fake tree only to find alive real one really got to me, so I got down to my knees and teared up, it was so beautiful and unexpected, like the spring had come early. Life was uncovered. I quickly put the tree directly under the window, to get proper light to the baby leaves, watered it and added fresh soil on top - I wasn't sure if it sprouted leaves as a last-ditch effort to survive, or if the heat of the apartment made it think that it was spring, but in any case it needed light and water very fast.
it's about 3 weeks later now, and the tiny tree is still here! I think it's going to survive, and be my new balcony tree. And it is a black locust!
First picture is the baby tree the first day out of darkness, and the second picture is taken yesterday. (the weird newspaper weaved thing is my treasure chest that I made out of newspaper)

Against all odds, life always finds a way.
Found this little guy a year or so ago, and have been making occasional trips into the mountains to check up on it. These were taken a few months ago on my phone.
Little thing is resilient as hell, given it's still growing out of the rock in the middle of a river that get pretty wild in the wet seasons. Also, it's literally in the mountains of Virginia, on a nice little trail. Really should hike up there more often, but it's like 2-3 hours from where I live.

Baby pine tree growing in strawberry bed,

i’m spending today thinking about how saber toothed cats ALSO probably had a potato form. how they also had a stage where they were fat little babies with very triangle tails and tiny squeaky voices. how they also probably play wrestled and failed badly at calculating jumps.
i’m going to fistfight god for killing them off before i could personally see fat potato saber kittens

Fenton Ethics and Test Tube Babies
In order to get the funding they need for their Ghost stuff, Jack and Maddie Fenton had to do some... rather illegal things when they left college.
One of them was testing alien DNA and seeing if it was compatible with human DNA.
However getting their hands on Superman's DNA or any of the main Leaguers would be far to hard for two up coming scientists and would run the risk of them being caught. Instead they set their sights on some of the younger aliens.
Such as Starfire, or rather Koriand'r.
They manage to get their hands on her DNA, and also her boyfriend (Nightwing) at the time and began to test it. They felt unsure with what they're doing but they needed the funding and in order to make themself feel better with what they're doing they decided if they were test her DNA with someone she was seeing it would be... better for their own conscience (it doesn't make what they're doing okay but they think so)
Eventually they succeeded in the testing! A baby can be made between a human and a alien.
HOWEVER because we know how the Fenton's get, they kind of go ahead of what they were only meant to do, which was just to TEST the compatibility of the DNA. Basically the paper's before the test phase.
With them getting tunnel vision on this project... They create said baby.
Then before they could show off that creating a new baby via test tubes actually works, they were told that the paperwork they were working on were going to be given to a new team, thank you for your work, here is the money for your ghost stuff, and have a good day.
The people who hired them then just leave.... Without knowing about the newly made baby.
Jack and Maddie name the baby Jasmine.
A few years later when little Jazz asks for a sibling... Well they bring out the old test tubes and papers.
And even though Starfire is no longer dating Nightwing, her new partner Red Hood would make a wonderful male donor for their future kid.
