I am being nosy. Right now Minis skirts are retired/ on hold due to business things. I am just morbidly curious about the 'extra logistics this entails' and if that is something on the horizon (6-12 months) or like a 5 year plan. I also don't totally understand the difference in your new manufacturer. I think the fabric will be more detailed with the new manu? Thank you in advance!

so, miniskirts were retired for 2 main reasons:

1. when you sells two products with minimal differences (i.e. two different lengths of the same skirt design, two of the same style of shirt with different sleeve lengths, etc) it doubles the amount of variations you have to account for in inventory without necessarily doubling sales. some people are only interested in either mini or midi skirts, but a lot of people are happy with either, and for us midi skirts were more popular ever since we introduced them and by the end made up about 60-70% of our skirt sales.

2. our old manufacturer fucked up really, really bad. in march 2021 we ran the most successful round of preorders we had ever run. in two weeks we made sales comparable to almost our entire sales in 2020. we made a huge order with the manufacturer we’d been working with for around 5-6 years at the time and we stressed (as we always had) that we preferred quality over speed, that we would pay extra and wait longer to make sure the skirts were made well, that they could be made and sent in batches so we wouldn’t overwhelm their holding capacity. well. they didn’t fucking do that. our old manufacturer changed skirt materials without informing us and about 60% of the entire skirt order was defective and specifically around 90% of miniskirts were defective. most of the midi skirts defects were minor printing errors (so a few white dots where there was dust on the fabric when it went through the printer, or a couple dark splotches from some splattered ink, or some minor print banding) but about 60% of the defective miniskirts were unsellable because they were literally falling apart. we are still dealing with the ramifications of this. we’ve sold through a bunch of the horrible miniskirts, selling them as scrap material below cost in the hopes that literally anyone can find a use for them so they don’t end up in a landfill. we still have a ton left that we need to sort and list in the store, but it is a truly staggering amount of work. we had to pay out of pocket to remake those skirts, which sucked.

so the difference with the new manu is about more than just material or print fidelity. it’s about consistency and quality. with the skirts from our old manu, we spend a ton of time quality checking every individual garment because there are so many defectives. that’s why the restocks had to be broken up into smaller, more frequent restocks: because that QC takes a TON of time. the new factory does their own, extensive QC, including wash tests, which will likely cut down our processing time to a 10th of what it is currently because we won’t have to scour every individual garment. defectives will be the outlier instead of the norm, meaning if someone gets a defective item without our knowledge it’ll be easy and painless to replace it because it’ll be at most 5% of garments instead of like 60%. if we had to process returns/exchanges on 60% of our orders it would literally shut us down. and we likely wouldn’t be able to process most exchanges bc we wouldn’t have that many non-defective skirts to exchange with defective ones.

i don’t have an ETA yet on the return of miniskirts, but i would guess either later this year or some time next year. i just wanted to get things settled with the new factory, to make sure we know our production timeline/etc and have midi skirts 100% figured out/squared away before we add other variables. unfortunately there have been delays with the first batch of midi skirts (i talked abt this earlier today but there have been a number of earthquakes in turkey, where our new factory is) so we are running behind on that, but we’ll be getting part of our first batch of new manu skirts later this week and the rest will arrive some time in the next few weeks. after that devin and i will sit down with ash (our lovely supply chain manager and pattern maker) and go over an action plan/logistics for miniskirts, among other things. we have a lot of projects cooking right!

ok i finally realized i FORGOT to actually post any update here about Kazul's tank upgrade whoops! It has been a whole Saga. Mostly because the guy I buy tanks from took (Boaphile) his website offline in 2021 just as I was ready to place an order... i thought maybe he was just updating it (since it looked like it was last revamped in perhaps 1995), but after 6 months, it was STILL offline.

So I did what any normal, hinged person would do and used the wayback machine to get to the archived version to track down his phone number and call him. Turns out he wasn't dead but he DID have to have rotator cuff surgery so said he wouldn't be able to make tanks again until summer 2022 at the earliest. I'd been hoping for earlier but Kazul was still under 6ft so I was like ok fine. Well September 2022 the website finally started coming back online in bits and pieces (while now more modern i would not actually say it is more Functional, and there are still now Lorem Ipsum text blocks here and there, but whatever). Spring 2023 the banner that things were under construction finally disappeared and I placed my order!!

At the time the advertised wait time was 12 weeks. I checked back in June, and there was another banner saying they were flooded with orders so had temporarily closed them to catch up. Ok, sure, running behind. August comes around and I'm like ok I should have an update by now at least and played phone tag for a few weeks... and eventually discovered that my order had gotten lost along the line somewhere (as in the printer paper with my tank details on it telling them what to build, not a whole tank lost in the mail). Sooooo i got put at the start of the queue for the next batch and FINALLY it shipped and arrived at the end of November. To compare the first order I placed took pretty much exactly 10 weeks back in 2017 so I do think this was just bad timing and fluke. However... they forgot to include the thermostat i also bought :| So I had to wait another 2 weeks for that to ship out to me too.

ANYWAY. I finally got it in mid December, but didn't want to throw a whole new section on the week before i left to visit family for the holidays. So I didn't set everything up til January. I'll put all those pics in another post because this one is already long and not that interesting but I shall keep the timeline on record here in case I need to reference it ever. Here's a pic of her though because why not :3

cute that you think frankie coming back is going to solve a structural problem. we have been playing badly for a long time, even with frenkie, but moments of individual brilliance saves us. the fact is that xavi makes tactical decisions that make no sense, anyone can see that the high 8s don’t work, that lewy should stay inside the box instead of roaming around the field, that playing romeu, alonso and a few others is giving up before the match starts

That’s your opinion. We’ve been playing without our best midfielders for 2 months, 2 of our attackers are just coming back from month long injuries and most of our players haven’t been rested enough but our bench is either over 30 without proper game rhythm (not played consistently) or under 20 (very lil experience) so obviously, besides that in the last two games we seem creatively stuck, lack of intensity and the game plan maybe wasn’t the best, I understand your pessimism but we have like 3-4 players that started 2.5 months ago with the team and haven’t had a consistent 11 that play with each other enough to know and feel comfortable with each other,I think, since we started bc of injuries and such. And yea, Xavi is a young coach (went from 1st division in Qatar for 2 years top, payed them 2 millions out if his pocket knowing he wasn’t Laporta’s first choice, to come one of the if the most difficult club to coach as a rookie coach in first division Europe) that makes mistakes, but he also came to a broke club that has been trying to build itself up again with a good team mainly of really really homegrown young cracks, or experienced vets that come for free after being free agents. We haven’t had a core group that has played 3-4 years with each other like Man City, Arsenal, Bayern, Ac Milan etc. Who are left from the starting 11 back in 21-22? Pedri? Gavi? Araujo? Ferrán? FDJ? That’s it? That’s it. And Pedri and Araujo get injured frequently.

This was always gonna be a long project. The fact that the palaca$ existed and we could buy some decent players like Lewy, Raphinha and Jules last year was a miracle and why we won La Liga and Supercopa, if not that would have been close to imposible. We spent 4 million this summer transfer and did fucking miracles. People forget where we are coming from. The trophies came earlier than they should have, really. Look at other team rebuilding. Arsenal? It has taken them 3 years to get where they are now, how many trophies? Girona has gotten where they are bc Mitchel has been there since 2021 with a main core of players and really smart buys/loans from really good scouting (and City group money), how many trophies?. This week was official the second anniversary of Xavi, who came mid season. A total mid-idiot-coach with no tactical skills would have not gotten a 9th place team to 2nd and on the way trashed 0-4 at Bernabeu the team that ended up being Champions of Europe that year. He obv has been experimenting more this year bc he has different players, lots of new ones between new transfers and kids from La Masia that came up and to makeup for injuries. We have won and tied with 5-6 injured players at a time, you know how hard that is? I think people are crazy.

Do I think both the team and staff need to reset? Yea. Wake up and shake it off? Yea? Were the last two games a disgrace? Yes. Should Xavi be sacked? No. Who the fuck is gonna come and coach us anyway? All the options are worse than Xavi. If we push him away, we’re gonna regret it like we did with Lucho. Calma.

We had a bad batch last season too Jan/February with injuries too, and fucking up in Europa, this shit happens. We still won trophies.

if i’m asked to absolutely!! i think they seem so fun but being in smaller fandoms i think they’re a lot harder to figure out. i’ve actually considered forming a few of my own for like halloween or the holidays and stuff but i’m kind of the only cadnis writer still somewhat consistently active and everyone else who writes for mean girls is into very different things (which is great we love to see it but it makes group stuff hard lol) and matilda i haven’t checked up on in so long i have no idea what’s going on in that little corner anymore whoops

we are continuing my beloved series of ‘someone has to write all the cliche fics for this ship and by golly it might as well be me”! from the looks of things the first one to be finished will be a college au (professor/student) that i’m honestly really proud of. i’ve been hammering away at it for a while lol. but we also have a few more like that and obviously plenty more that aren’t that i’m not gonna spoil just yet but i’m very excited for them :)))

9, short term goals… what do you hope to complete this week or in january?

i’m really hoping to have that and the next chapter of pt done by the end of the month!! my third writing birthday is at the beginning of march and i’m really hoping to have a batch of fics ready to crank out by then :)) matilda is kind of wonky for the time being bc i have very few wips and i need time to sort through which requests i can actually do/want to do so they might be a while but focusing on my meanies for a while will be a nice change i think!

UHHHH honestly most of my wips are kinda like that lol. i hyper focus on one and then get bored with it and move on to a new one and herein lies the cycle of Big Issues. so i have a lot of like half-done oneshots (including requests i literally got in 2021 and am sobbing trying to get done i feel so bad). i do have an entire folder of ‘unpublishable fics’ that will never see the light of day. they’re mostly just writing exercises but some of them are just really embarrassing so most of them stay there lol. and i have a multi-chapter The Good Place au i started years ago and couldn’t figure out other than the title but i only wrote a couple scenes for it but that probably also won’t ever see the light of day. ce la vie ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Comments: An oldie, but a goodie. I think this is one of the first fics I read when I rejoined fandom in June 2021 and it has had me in its claws ever since. Delightwrites paints us a lovely, but sad, scene of the Bad Batch in their formative years. They paint us such a good picture that the picture continues on into the painful events of the show, in fact. I will never forgive them for that. Mostly because of Transformersluna's matching comic. Ouch.

Comments: I would put Wwheeljack's entire Ultra Soft Batch series here if I could, but this fic in particular has always stuck out to me in the series. It has a different tone to the rest of the entries in the journey of her story, and it writes us into a precedent that the remainder of the series is trying to catch up to.

Now We Are Free is a story about brotherhood in the face of cruelty, no matter the source. It is gentle, or it at least potrays men that are trying to be gentle in a universe that wants them to be anything but. It portrays a different start to the Clone Wars than the rest of the clones get, but the Bad Batch have always been different, so it's very fitting.

Summary: One of the handlers is stupidly reckless with Crosshair’s training one day and the rest fo the batch are there to help in the aftermath.

Comments: Drizzle is one of those fics you want to read when it's raining, to picture both the vivid scene that Tincturedwords paints us, but also the gentle comfort the second half of the fic boasts. The fic manages to say so many things without saying much at all. Tincturedwords' writing style really plays into this well, making the fic easy to read, and even easier to picture exactly what is going on. There are both big moments in the fic that I adored envisioning, such as the training sequence with sets of this series of events, but also the smaller and more initimate moments between the Bad Batch as well. There's plenty of those in the fic, even hidden between the lines, the sort that make you go "oh". Wait for a rainy day for this one, and make yourself a nice cup of tea!

Comments: I don't where to begin with this fic. The whole piece is just... wow. It's a work of art. Moxibustion is a master of the written word and every single chapter of this is example of their command of the craft. They weave us a beautiful story about Echo settling into life with the Bad Batch, but at the same time, reconciling the fact that his old life is gone. Fives is gone. The 501st as he knew it is gone. It has that bittersweet tone to it in that sense, but it is also respectful of Echo's capabilities as a trained soldier - and the Batch's abilities in turn.

Art of War treats us to a chapter for each member of the Bad Batch and Echo acclimatising to them, with an overarching storyline about grief, fitting in, and taking care of yourself. It fits on a beautiful, poignant note about Order 66 (unbeknownst to the cast of characters) and the authorities which surround the Grand Army of the Republic. I will always go back to this fic when I have a few hours to kill. I find something new hidden amongst the dialogue every single time, as Moxibustion writes each character as if they have been lifted from the show itself, then some. I will highlight Tech's two chapters in particular. I adore all of it so very much. Truly a gift to the fandom.

Viva_Islenka is an amazing writer for the heart-wrenching torture scenes, gripping rescue scenes, careful medical scenes, and finally, the gentle comforting scenes at the end. Their version of the Bad Batch are so astute to their canon selves that it feels like you are reading an episode straight out of the show itself. I really, really enjoy their writing style and how it moulds so well into the story they are telling us, albeit laced with maximum hurt/comfort to boot! Please go give them some love for the ongoing story!

Comments: This style of mission fic is not one you often see in fandom, so CT_IForgot treats us to a horror-esque story that's written with expert craftmanship to match. Their writing style is born for this sort of story; suspenseful, action-packed, and gutwrenching. They paint us a vivid picture of the Bad Batch (with Echo) trying to confront an invisible foe, but also foes from within the Grand Army of the Republic. The story also allows the Bad Batch to fail (and fail they do!) which is another theme not often explored within this fandom and its fan fiction. And not only does it allow them to fail, but it explores their failures and the realistic consequences of said failures, while still sticking to its horror-esque genre and the mission fic trope.

I can't give CT_IForgot enough love this amazing addition to the fandom's fan fiction halls. Please go give them some extra love while they're on hiatus! Please also be sure to heed the warnings!

Comments: This fic is just. So cute. I go back and re-read it when I need a pick-me-up, or when I need to wind down in the evenings. Eternal writes us into four gorgeous scenarios across the Clone Wars (unfortunately without Echo) which focuses on Tech's relationship with the three other founding members of the Bad Batch. It borrows from Wwheeljack's Ultra Soft Batch series in a way, that Tech is characterised as an unsure and shy man who struggles to find his place in amongst his unit. But the fic is also gentle and permitting to Tech as he ponders his reason for being, while existing in a galaxy at war. Eternal gives Tech ample time to learn, and she is kind to the rest of the Bad Batch in turn, allowing them to be gentle despite what is going on around them.

Comments: As the name suggests, this fic follows a particularly haunting mission for the Bad Batch in the early years of the Clone Wars. We know that the unit boast a 100% success rate, but this fic is one of those that makes you ponder how that 'success' is defined. Empress explores this concept hauntingly, in a way, but also in a way that is comforting - to us as the readers, and to the characters in this scenario. I really enjoyed her use of language throughout the piece, with long, swelling paragraphs that paint the picture of a larger scene of desired peace between her Batch members. Though this is a sad fic, it's another one I go and re-read when I need it, because it gives you the message of "it's okay to fail, even if you've succeeded". It's a lovely message and this is a lovely fic to match.

The Burden of Command by Destril.

Summary: Hunter is struggling under the pressure of balancing his duty as their Sergeant and with his duty as their brother as the war rages on and Clone Force 99 is pushed to the brink. His team notices and steals a moment to just breathe and take care of their brother.

Comments: Full disclosure, I prompted this fic out of Destril because I adore her iteration of the Bad Batch so very much. The Burden of Command focuses on the unit nearing the end of the war (including Echo!), and it's a unit that's dreadfully weighed down by responsibility and fighting (fighting droids, and in-fighting). Like with Silence, Destril paints us a picture of an imperfect squad with a perfect track record. That pressure is enough for anyone to crumble under, to which this fic portrays them succumbing to some of the pressure. Hunter, specifically. Somebody needs to give that man a break.

Destril weaves us a beautiful picture of some of the Bad Batch's downtime with this fic. A slice of life, sort of thing, with hurt/comfort mixed it. Her writing is a treat, allowing us to explore those hidden moments, with beautiful brotherly intimacy between this group of 5 men. I'm very thankful for the chance to prompt her, and just had to include this fic in my must-read list.

Imperial Era / Current Canon

Exceptional Minds by Echo_Base1.

Summary: Tech and Omega grapple with guilt and unfamiliarity following Daro.

Comments: This fic is a lovely insight into Tech's state of mind following the events of season 1, episode 14 (War Mantle). It sees Tech trying to reconcile what happened to Hunter with Tech's reason for being - his intelligence and his 'enhancement'. Echo_Base gives us some lovely insight into Tech's upbringing on Kamino for him to have adopted this point of view, and how the Bad Batch being on the run has continually challenged Tech's previous views of himself. It then complements this line of thinking, in its study of Tech, by introducing us to Omega, who is similarily upset after the events on Daro. The two of them have a heartfelt conversation about what happened. It's one of those canon 'missing scene' fics for me, between episodes 14 and 15, and one I will hold dearly to my chest. Echo_Base really brings it home here in the end, and goes in for the kill in the last section. A good read all the way through.

He fell off a mountain, got captured, held hostage, fought droids, survived a bombardment, and then escaped a destroyed underwater city. Someone give this man a break.

I have always really enjoyed Hanged_Albatross' works (one featured on the last rec list!) so it's a joy to see them return to the fandom with such a gorgeous fic.

I really enjoyed how Littleking's writing style moulded to the theme of the fic, particularly the second 'comfort' chapter. The inclusion of the Batch's realistic reactions (specifically Hunter) to what happened is the icing on the cake for really enjoying this brief but impactful exploration into an alternative path of action on Bracca.

And I enjoyed it just the same, just because Lunarshadow paints us a gut wrenching picture while balancing it with some more repetitive Crosshair motifs. It reads beautifully and I can't speak more highly of the imagery. Carry Us Away really did let me think of where we could have been, what with this course of the story for episode 16, and it's somewhere I wouldn't have minded ending up at all.

Comments: This fic is just. So funny. Hellowkatey is an amazing writer, and this fic is an example of her writing ability and range within the numerous genres and fandoms she is a part of. If The Ocean Was Whiskey was a product of our amused musings in an 'out of character' roleplay chat and I will go and re-read it whenever I need to smile a little bit. It explores each of the Bad Batch's reactions to being drunk, and Tech's reactions to each of them throughout their drunken shenengians (as Tech himself abstains from drinking alcohol).

She crafts us a universe where the Bad Batch are struggling without their leader, but are coming into their own with the void that Hunter's absence/betrayal has left them. It touches on all of the correct and satisfying emotional notes, including addressing that void, Hunter's fall, and the outcomes of that while having a child in tow. The fic also boasts a storyline for Hunter while he is under the influence of his inhibitor chip, and an interesting one at that, which continues to develop in Kate's ongoing chapters. She has just released chapters 7 & 8.

Please go give her some love for the ongoing work. She deserves all of it, then some, with the innovative and captivating universe she has created. Her writing style leaves you hanging for more, but it makes you read between the lines as well - where Kate generously leaves us plenty of clues for what is going on in her newly-crafted universe. Her ability to have you on the edge of your seat is unparalled. Truly another gift work to the fandom.

They make you feel expensive, like you should be walking down a palace hall with a robe worth double it's weight in credits.

If you ever chose wear something like that? Blue screen. Full kernel error. 404 'Tech.exe' not found. His hands will gently lay against your thighs and feel both your skin and the fabric underneath his palms, face beat red while you however, feel incredibly pleased.

🔴Hunter secretly loves letting you have the lead every now and again, and he's able to melt under your touch. But Hunter has never actually said it out loud, even if you already knew.

One day you decided to really capitalize it, having invited him to your home while he was on shore leave. You'd kissed him and before long, decided to tell him you needed to change really quick. Hunter found it a little odd, but watched as you ran off like you were about to open Life Day presents, swiping something from your closet on the way.

You returned a few minutes later dolled up in with jet black, full garter belt and stockings. Hunter's throat choked up so that he grew almost silent, to the point that you worried you didn't look as good as you felt. That turned out to not be the case, and Hunter enjoyed playing that night what he felt was maybe a little too much.

You still have that same set packed away in a safe spot, breaking it out every now and again when Hunter gives you that look.

⚫️Wrecker You had tried the whole 'fancy lingerie' thing before, as a surprise when Wrecker had a rare bit of shore leave after deployment. And while it certainly didn't go badly, not a set of even the most expensive lingerie could beat the way his chest tightens at the sight of you wearing his own clothes.

Having once decided to steal one of his black undershirts, the sleeves went down past your hands and the bottom went to your thighs, meant for someone far larger than you. When he'd caught you in the process of stealing it, you had jokingly asked how it looked; fingers grasping the bottom hem and spanning the fabric out on either side. Wrecker figured words weren't going to work when he spit out 'you good look yeah' which make you bust out laughing, then he busted out laughing in response to you; Before he just decided to pick you up and move you to a more desirable locale.

🔴Crosshair more so wants the outfit to fit the scenario. Wearing some soft lace and ruffles? Best become pliant and behaved under his hands. Pulling on a more demure type of slip, that you'd almost be scared to touch with rough hands ? Crosshair can corrupt you, while watching fabric worth far more than its weight in credits softly rub against your thighs. Jet black or fire red bras and garter belts with tight, harsh seams? Not many can break a clone like him, but he'd love to see you try.

Crosshair will always be a brat, but it's a matter of which type of brat you're getting. Lingerie helps set the mood, though he won't admit he also likes the rare feeling of softness against his skin.

Tech x Reader

Just a short thing I had written down sometime last week. Wrote it down after a dream, wich is why it is so short and a little out of context. Nothing big. No Warnings. Just cute Tech being super nervous around reader.

Shy Tech

You had never been to Geonosis before. It was another desert planet, but this one was covered with red sand and rocks. It looked somehow even more inhospitable than Tatooine.

"Who would want to live here?" you asked to no one in particular as you waited outside the ship for Rex.

But of course, Tech took the opportunity to chat from his infinite store of knowledge.

"The Geonosians are a winged, insectoid species. Despite their insectoid origins, Geonosians have no skin armor, but smooth, thin skin. They have long arms with relatively small hands, crooked legs, and claws on their feet. Despite their gaunt frame, they are very strong. Geonosians are generally naked, except for a loincloth that sparsely covers their private parts. Upper body clothing is unnecessary for both men and women. Because they wear no clothing, they are more agile than most opponents and also use their clawed feet for defense. The Geonosian language consists of clicking and cracking sounds. They live in..."

"Oh my gaaaaawd, shut up, will ya?!" Wrecker interrupted Tech in his loud voice, "Nobody cares about that much information."

Tech was annoyed by this rude interruption, but he actually shut up and refocused on his datapad.

You rose from the box you were sitting on, walked through the red sand to Tech, and sat right next to him. He looked up from his datapad at you briefly, then focused back on the device in his hand.

"They live in...?" you asked him quietly.

Surprised, he blinked and looked back up into your face.

"Please don't encourage him," Wrecker muttered.

"Don't be so rude!" you fired back, silencing him in surprise.

Tech's ears went all red again, and to hide it, he hastily put on his helmet, despite the barely tolerable heat out here. It was interesting and amusing to see. Tech was the one who always kept a calm head in the most dangerous situations, but you always managed to shake him in some way.

Omega appeared at your side and gently tugged on your shirt to get your attention. Omega gestured for you to lean in with your ear to her, then whispered, "I think Tech likes you a lot."

You chuckled, at which point Tech shot a surprised and nervous look at the two of you. He couldn't hear what Omega was saying to you, but he was sure you were talking about him. He uneasily shifted his weight on the crate he and you were sitting on before finally standing up, pretending to be fully focused on the datapad again, and walking to the ship's ramp.

"I think we gave him the wrong impression," you sighed.

But you were distracted by an approaching small troop transport before you girls could discuss this topic further.

"Finally. Rex shows up," Hunter muttered.

As Rex came down the ramp, you were already running toward him, literally jumping on him.

Giggling, Rex wrapped his arms around you and lifted you off your feet for a moment. The other clones watched the scene in amazement. They knew you were friends with Rex, but they had no idea how close you actually were. If you had eyes in the back of your head, you would have seen the worried look on Tech's face. He was worried about how close you really were.

"Hey Firecracker," Rex greeted you teasingly, "How did you end up with these guys? I hope they're treating you well?"

You laughed as Rex eased you to your feet and back out of his embrace.

"They're all very gentle and decent to me," you replied.

"You'll tell me if that ever changes," he stated more or less jokingly.

"Yes, Captain," you replied playfully formal.

With a hand between your shoulders, he led you back to the rest of the crew.

Shrooms Made Me Better

At the top I'd like to state a few things; First, do not rely on unprescribed drugs as a solution. Second, I am not stating that shrooms fixed all of my problems. What I will say is that they helped me to see my own good and bad qualities objectively and thus allowed me to take steps towards self-improvement, as well as made me feel more able cope with the external stresses many of us have been experiencing these past few years.

Psychedelics, at the time of writing this, are currently being explored in clinical environments as a therapeutic medium to treat Depression, PTSD, and a number of other psychological issues. If you're curious about shrooms, you'll see these words rehashed in some form over and over again as a sort of script/justification for usage. I'm not here to preach to you why I think they should be legalized, etc etc, I'm here to talk to you about my personal recreational experiences.

I'd been curious about the use of psilocybin (the active compound of magic mushrooms) as a method of treating depression for years, but previously never had a means to obtain it. I have not been diagnosed with depression, but I know I have seasonal lows in winter and after a series of events between 2017 and 2019, I knew I was no longer able to sustain a healthy mental state on my own. Add the isolation of 2020 to the equation and winter times left me feeling hollow.

After a series of life changes and innumerable stresses added and subtracted since the beginning of the pandemic, by winter of 2021 I was in a much healthier and happier place. I'd moved to a much better state, had formed a network of good people around me, and even gained a wonderfully supportive boyfriend, but somehow... That hollowness just persisted. It wasn't sadness or anything subtractive, just a void where something had once been. Energy. Creativity. Inspiration. Feelings I hadn't felt in full for over half a decade.

Not wanting to risk the approaching winter time deeping this void, by around August 2021 I worked with my network and managed to obtain Penis Envy! Hang on. That's the name of the strain of magic mushrooms, not a sudden and profound sense of immasculinity. Anyways, I need to emphasize, it had never been my desire to get trippy on shrooms. My intention was to microdose and observe the effects. So I took my Penis Envy and ground it into a fine powder, tamped 15mg into digestible capsules and dosed myself twice a week for several months.

There was an immediate noticeable effect that surprised me.

I took my first dose and was meeting with a friend for some beers and a day at the beach. On the way there I was listening to my progressive house/lofi playlist- and about twenty minutes after taking the pill, my music suddenly changed. The song I was listening to, I'd heard a dozen times before, suddenly became richer, deeper, more... Full. As though I could hear every nuance and effect with a clarity that I hadn't heard before! Visually and physically, nothing around me had changed. I felt sober and in a fully sound state of mind.

This began a ritual for me. Every couple times a week, I'd take the pill and go get cozy in bed and turn on my music. After a few minutes of relaxing and listening, I would sense a small window of time where the music took on that richness and if I held very still, I could feel a brightness within me. Like a glow or aura. Just a subtle feeling of warmth. Again, this was doses of only 15mg. If I took a pill and didn't lay down, and instead just went on with my day, I wouldn't feel anything. No glow or warmth, just a brief, usually thirty minutes or less, window where music enhanced.

I had started in early August and my first batch lasted me until mid-November. I got my second delivery of Penis Envy and decided to up the dose a bit. 40mg. (I was still scared of tripping!) This had the effect I was looking for. The music became even fuller, the glowing feeling inside became a warm blanket if I held very still, and as Winter went into full swing, I felt great! I had a surge of creative energy. I did a lot of writing, a lot of character development and channel development for Yrie/streaming, and felt inspired to learn a new medium! Perhaps it was because I went into the experience having knowledge of what I wanted to gain from it that I was able to focus and realize these changes, but the energy I felt I had previously lost was definitely there and I was empowered to continue my personal growth.

By the end of January 2022, I was running low and my purveyor of Penis Envy was unavailable for a while, so I knew it was going to be a few months before I could get more. I decided to end my winter experience with one pill I had been saving. I had taken all of the fine residue from my grinder and packed it into one capsule, weighing about 1.5 grams. Still a considerably low dose for recreational users, but this was how I wanted to do it. I took the overstuffed pill and went to lie down.

It started out the same as normal. I felt the music embolden, and I could sense the brightness in me growing. But now when I closed my eyes, I could see whole scenes playing out in front of me. I realized then what the phrase "the mind's eye" referred to. Behind my eyelids, I could watch transformative vistas and ethereal patterns moving, forming, collapsing, in perfect harmony with the music. If I opened my eyes, I was back in reality. A little hazy, but in full control of myself. If I closed my eyes, the scenes would slowly return.

Not to play too hard into the stereotype, but it was a transformative experience.

Once that trip ended, that was it. I felt happier and more confident over the next few months than I had in years. Because of the microdosing, and the one experimental small dose/easy trip, I started acting upon my desires to create, to produce, and to pursue the things I enjoyed. I didn't feel bogged down and hollow like I had before. 💜

Recently, I was able to reconnect with my purveyor as well as make friends with another, which gave me the opportunity to do more. So I did more.

Why do images like this get so associated with trips? Because that's what you see! Obviously much less static, but an image like this will form and deform and transform behind your eyelids in harmony with the music.

Last week I obtained some more magic mushrooms and went to space with friends. 🛸

I was nervous to go into this as I had never had more than a gram, and now we were talking about doing 3+ grams. A certifiable true dose of shrooms for a proper magic experience.

It started out not great. We followed the advice given to us and we did all feel that initial moment where we knew the mushrooms were taking effect, but beyond some mild visual artifacting (like a JPEG image) there was nothing going on. I tried to sherpa my friends into staying still, focusing on breathing, and listening to the music, but keeping them still and untalking was impossible. One friend decided to call it for the night after a couple hours of not feeling anything. I was able to settle the other friend down and after just one song, we both fell deep into the trip.

The music wasn't just richer and bolder. It became a full experience. Every note, every background audio effect, every nuance was additive and enhancing. One song would feel like an hour, but it was deeply moving and profound. Music I had heard a hundred times was given new life and depth. The accompanying visuals were incredible. Like the best visual effects of any movie you've ever seen, but touching in a personal way. At one point, there was a crisscrossing woven ribbon pattern stretching across the sky, pulsating and changing colors, in between every crisscross was an empty space and all at once the spaces filled with eyes. You would think it would be terrifying, but it was honestly beautiful. The ribbon continued to move across the cloudless sky, grassy plains and oceans and forests below it. Eventually the scene transformed into something else, beautiful and refreshing, over and over. Every song bringing new worlds into my head. Every new scene an experience of emotion and comfort.

Throughout all of this I was still aware of my body and my surroundings. I could pursue the experience or let go and come back to reality. At no point did I feel like I was out of control of reality and it felt like I had to be mentally willful to return to my mind's eye. If I felt my leg getting uncomfortable because I hadn't moved in half an hour, I could readjust and then be back in the experience within a few seconds. In reality, the brightness was a background feeling, my vision was mostly fine if just slightly wavering around the edges, and mentally I was clear minded and gleeful of how good this was -and then I could go back in.

It went on like this for two or so more hours. We could both tell we were coming down as it was becoming harder to stay in the visuals, although the music itself was still very vibrant. It was after midnight at this point and we were both tired. I fell asleep with a mostly clear mind but for my imagination feeling rejuvinated.

I recognize how much of what I have said here sounds like a trope, but in earnest, the experience was very enlightening. It seems to have a lasting effect of allowing me to better control my stresses and anxieties. I still know my responsiblities and tasks that I need to complete, but they're no longer weighing on me and giving me the sense that they are insurmountable. That, to me, is what I most value out of these experiences.

Going forward, I plan on taking small controlled doses on quiet evenings, maybe once a week or bi-monthly, then on occasion, a fuller dose for a greater experience, maybe once or twice a year. I don't want to overindulge on these experiences. I treasure them too much to treat them with that much causality. But for all those looking to enjoy a similar experience, or maybe just adopt a generally healthy meditative habit;

Lay still. Focus on your breathing. Listen to the music~
