It’s herring spawn time, one of the most amazing times to see all sorts of coastal wildlife here. Everyone gathers at the same time to enjoy the feast!

can almost guarantee that eagles nested there prior to colonialism but i suppose the point is that eagles are nesting there AGAIN because the environment has improved so much (from colonialism of the land and general environmental destruction/degradation) but this ultimately reminds me that Canada is stolen land.

Today I cyberstalked a bald eagle.
It started with a random Google image search that led me to Clark, a bald eagle from the World Bird Sanctuary who performs at military and sporting events to raise money for the sanctuary.
(Clark’s TSA check)
Naturally, I wanted to learn more about Clark’s TSA adventure, so I ended up at this NPR article that talks about his past, his job, and his hotel stay.
“Clark is a flying ambassador of World Bird Sanctuary in south St. Louis. The scales on his talons never developed properly, and he would eventually get pneumonia and die if he were to hunt in the wild, the nonprofit's executive director, Dawn Griffard, told NPR over the phone.“
“When the group arrives at their destination, Clark gets his own hotel room. They move the furniture and throw a large tarp over the floor. He gets a perch in the middle of the room, from which he watches TV. Griffard said he prefers cartoons and nature shows.“
By this point I’m completely in love and Clark can do no wrong. But then I go deeper down the rabbit hole...
and
I discover the dark truth from four years ago...
For shame, Clark.
