R. Balki explains why Padman is his most important film till date
digital desk, Mumbai Based on and inspired by the life of visionary Arunachalam Muruganantham, filmmaker R. Balki’s film Padman has completed four years. Yesterday was a childhood dream come true! Ha. Took the fam to @steelcitycomiccon to meet @bronsonpinchot and @marklinnbaker of Perfect Strangers! All 3 of us still love that show and it was just so great to meet them — they both signed my original drawing of them that I did a few years ago too 🤗 #perfectstrangers #marklinnbaker #bronsonpinchot #cousins #balki #balkibartokomous #larryappleton #cousins #prismacolor #art #artist #artwork #gallery #steelcitycomiccon #dontberidiculous #draw #artistsoninstagram #drawing #worldofpencils #freehand #80s #instaart #inspiration #portrait #pencildrawing #sketch #fanart #steelcitycon #artistic #jjdart https://www.instagram.com/p/ChShURvuIHp/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Ned Low seems like the kind of character whom misguided cishet guys would make "sigma" edits of and outright worship, despite all the brutal onscreen torture, petty one-upmanship, and mistreatment of his own crew that got him mutinied.

he seemed so familiar but I couldn't figure out where I knew him from and now I've googled and I'm like OF COURSE

this is Bronson Pinchot who played a character that I absolutely ADORED: Balki Bartokomous from Perfect Strangers!!! (ok, I admit, I had a bit of a crush on him 😂)
omg what a trip down memory lane! I loved how he always said "Of course not, don't be ridiculous!" whenever his cousin asked him if he had done something stupid. 😂
(I wonder how many people on this hellsite have any idea what I'm talking about 😅)

Scenes from David Lynch’s unaired 1994 “re-imagining” of PERFECT STRANGERS. Derided as “incoherent” by ABC President Ted Harbert, the 3 hour pilot swapped its two lead roles from scene to scene without warning or acknowledgement, often seeming to imply that “Cousin Larry” existed only in Balki’s mind; a manifestation of his disillusion with the facade of the American dream.
The most contentious aspects of the production were long, disturbing, mostly dialogue-free dream sequences examining Balki's fears and insecurities about his new identity as a Myposian-American immigrant. Many test screening participants walked out during the pilot's 3+ hour runtime.
ABC execs quickly and quietly shelved the project before it was announced, and refocused their scripted series development on “family-friendly” content. Lynch, a longtime PERFECT STRANGERS enthusiast, was devastated and furious at what he called a “betrayal” on the part of the network. He would go on to channel his feelings about the ordeal into a dark neo-noir horror film, 1997’s LOST HIGHWAY.
