Lack of sleep and other things got me thinking about the narrative of how Black burly/stocky/chubby men are fetishized, and I rarely hear anything said about it. Though there are men who just legit embrace and love thicker bodies of any body type, there are also dudes who often make one's size the focal point of the person's overall identity. Especially with those who identify as Chasers, whose bodies are smaller or fitter than the Cubs or Chubs they chase. Makes room for a lot of questions about Self-Worth and Self-esteem, while trying to uphold a sensible spirit of discernment. But I'm sleepy. Really enjoyed being here to see the amazing artwork of talented individuals, while learning about the subjects behind the art - men living with #HIV. Individual stories of struggle and triumph are all put together to create a masterwork. It reminds me of the social media justice camp that @sparkrjnow hosted this past summer. Their theme - #paintingreslience. Definitely a full circle moment. @jayrayisthename is amazing, along with the other artists that contributed to their individual pieces. I am deeply saddened by the lost of #StephenMaglott. Historian, Activist, and overall sweet guy, Stephen made it his mission to document the lives of Black #LGBTQ people. He's been a supporter of #BamaBoiBlues since its infancy. I hate that I didn't get around to submitting my bio when he first contacted me, which makes me feel even worse. He will sorely be missed. He's done so much, and I send my condolences to his loved ones and friends. Rest easy, man. Much, much love to you!
