Hurry up and Wait
I love the trope that Obi Wan gets visions of the future (the CW, Order 66, and later) and through these visions he (accidentally or otherwise) saves the galaxy. Let's take a walk through a twist in that.
Obi Wan gets those visions of the future, but never consciously remembers them.  Only a lingering sense that he needed  to be a Jedi knight (so that he could be in a position to find the clones). Subconsciously, however, he falls in love (platonically) with the clones in general and falls in love (romantically) with Cody in particular, even though he has no memory of it.
As a consequence any Force user with even a hint of a connection to the unifying Force can tell upon meeting Obi Wan that the Force has a Plan with a capital P for him.
This changes nothing about his Padawanship (From which I cherry pick parts of anything I can get my hands on, assume that anything that is known that does not directly contradict what is in here is in play). Qui Gon Jinn’s connection is exclusively to the Living Force, as is Yoda’s.
You know where it starts changing things? When Obi Wan takes Anakin as a Padawan. Anakin, as a child of the Force, got an even clearer sense of the Force Plan. He could sense that Obi Wan would find something(someone) and leave the Jedi before Anakin’s padawanship was finished. He could sense that this would be important, changing the tides of the galaxy kind of important.
So before Anakin could ever become attached to Obi Wan, he is dissuaded. In this Obi Wan is not Master/Teacher/Father/Brother. He is viewed as a tutor, or favored babysitter, until it is time for Anakin to go to his actual Master.  And Obi Wan never begrudges teaching Anakin, never lets Anakin think that there was somewhere else Obi Wan had to be, because there wasn’t. Not yet.
Perhaps in another universe Palpatine would have been able to step into the space Obi Wan never realized he made. Except the first time Palpatine pushed to meet with Anakin, Obi Wan had an unexplainable (to anyone who did not know the future he was seeing in his dreams) panic attack strong enough that he needed to go to the healing halls.   This panic attack, and the subsequent smaller ones he has whenever he thinks too long about Palpatine being alone with Anakin have two major consequences for Anakin specifically and one for the Order overall.
The first is that Anakin never grows to trust Palpatine. He meets with him, because Palpatine made some fairly heavy-handed implied threats to the Jedi if they did not provide him with the company of a small boy, but he never really lets him in. This Anakin never forgets the lessons that he must have learned as a young slave, particularly ‘never trust a smiling, kindly man in power’.  Anakin, at the insistence of the High Council, Obi Wan, and his own instincts is required to see a healer and a mind healer after every session with Palpatine (for fear that was grooming Anakin-which he was, just not the way the Jedi thought).
The second consequence is that the High Council as a whole, and Mace Windu specifically, keeps a closer eye on Anakin. It is to Mace that Anakin begins to turn as a Mentor, whom Anakin is sure will be his Master when it is time for Obi Wan to leave.  So, much like with Ahsoka in Canon, Mace and Obi Wan end up co parenting Anakin. And it is understood, and has been exhaustively discussed by all three (to the extent that Anakin's age allows to reasonably be part of the discussion), that Mace is Anakin’s master, though Obi Wan may be considered so on paper (Mace, as head of the Order, cannot take on a too young Padawan.  When Anakin is older, certainly, and if Obi Wan leaves early, sure, but for now the day to day is handled by Obi Wan).
The order as a whole, and the High Council in particular, had no actual idea that the Chancellor (and possibly other Senators or representatives) can effectively make the Jedi Order deliver a 9 year old boy to his office and leave. They immediately set a mixed group of Archivist and Shadows to go through all of the treaties, laws, and Senate rulings that can possibly refer to or affect the Jedi. Going through all the laws and rulings and things that should not have affected the Jedi but do(because of a confluence of three, or four, or six different laws that separately don’t do shit to trap the Jedi but together create something that is Ironclad and razor sharp) takes several months. The results are so horrifying that several shadows have to be talked down from the ledge of taking over the Republic entirely.
The High Council decides that they will begin to untangle themselves from the control of the Republic, but that they must do it quietly. There is concern that if they bring attention to the potential for abuse of the Jedi Order, there are beings that would take advantage. They do not realize that they are caught in a Sith Plot (one that in Canon would see them forced to be generals of a slave army). Instead they believe the laws that entrap them to be, not quite coincidence, but that their effect on the Jedi is secondary.  So that is going on behind the scenes.
We come to the mission that would get the clones discovered, the one that was supposed to spark a war. Palpatine fully believes that everything is on track with Anakin, as he has not clocked onto the fact that Anakin is humoring him and does not trust him.  So Palpatine enacts his plan to get Anakin alone with Padme, hoping that something Jedi code breaking will result (Palpatine does not exactly have control over Padme-Though he certainly thinks he has more than he does-however she is exactly the kind of reckless that he needs to get Anakin into com kind of trouble) while Obi Wan is sent on a chase for the assassin, Jango, which will lead him to Kamino.
Obi Wan arrives on Kamino and knows the instant that he is shown the clones that this is what he has been waiting for. He still does not consciously remember his lifelong visions, but he knows that he has found his people.  He very calmly sends out a message to Anakin and Mace to the effect of ‘I have found my people. May the Force be with you. Peace Out’ then goes back and uses every ounce of his cunning and negotiating skill to take command of the clones, the ships, and all the supplies for what should have been the Republic's Army and fuck off to a planet in Wildspace (That Obi Wan owns. Until that very moment he did not know why the Force had encouraged him to acquire the planet).
Jango, who is very intrigued by the pretty red headed Jedi who had just politely browbeaten a bunch of Kaminoans (It is a very much one sided attraction, since Obi Wan is very much in love with Cody-even if he doesn’t know it yet), and Boba go with them.
No just picture this. Dooku is waiting on Geonosis for Jango Fett to lure a Jedi,  specifically to lure his grand padawan to the planet so that war can get started. And Waiting. And Waiting. Meanwhile the Geonosian Queen is hovering in the background, starting to make noises that are the equivalent of ‘well, don’t let me keep you’ (and other such saying that were polite-as this was still a potential ally- for ‘Get fucken out of our house already’).
Another Meanwhile, due to a combination of the lack of needing to go to Geonosis to rescue Obi Wan, the lack of a need to go to Tatooine (By sheer happenstance Shimi was not captured by the Tuskens, thus no visions for Anakin), and the goodby message Obi Wan left (which indicated that the current assassin would not be bothering Padme for at least a few weeks), Anakin and Padme get back to the Senate in time for the Separatist Vote.  While not unanimous, it is an overwhelming majority that voted to allow the Separatists to leave (Mainly because most of them wanted to be able to leave themselves if need be).
Everyone, Separatist and Republic alike, stares at each other awkwardly in the aftermath of the Vote. For some reason everyone feels as though there should have been a different outcome and no one(outside of Palpatine and his minions) can tell why. Eventually the Separatists turn and walk slowly from the room.  Those who wanted the war were seething internally, but not able to show it externally.
Palpatine has to work hard to keep his screams of frustrations internal later, when he calls Kamino and finds that his shiny new army is not where he left it. Then there is the repeal of a seemingly insignificant law and it takes him nearly three weeks to place why (that one law neatly disassembles most of the legal trap that the Jedi were in, because it was the connecting law between that laws with the really harsh punishments and that laws that specifically mention the Jedi).
Back with Obi Wan and the Clones…Things are a bit strange. In the first place Obi Wan still does not consciously remember any of his visions, but subconsciously knows all of the clones and can tell them apart. So he calls the clones by name rather than designation. For some of the clones before they even choose a name.  He also knows without knowing why hobbies and interests for most of the clones.
And for all that the Clones have been primed through propaganda to love the Jedi, they don’t actually fully trust anyone who is not a clone, not yet. This has the effect that Obi Wan is, without realizing it, acting very informally with clones who do not know what to make of him.  This is compounded by the fact that Obi Wan sees Cody and is instantly smitten. Cody does not know what to do with this.
Hilariously this has the effect of making Jango jealous of Cody. Jango is attracted to Obi Wan, who only has eyes for Cody.  So Jango is off to one side making passive aggressive comments about Obi Wan settling for a badly put together copy when he could have the original, muttered low enough that Obi Wan cannot hear.  When Obi Wan does over hear one of the comments, the resulting rant on Jango failures as a person (this was before they discovered the chips, but after the realization that Jango had effectively sold his children into slavery) and how Cody is clearly superiors in every way, does help to endear the clones to him.
His visceral horror when they find out about the chips helps too.
I am not sure where it would go from here, though I imagine it does end with the Jedi, in clumps of two or three, just sort of arriving on the planet.

CHAPTERS 1-3^^^
UPDATE ALERT
FREEDOM FIGHTER
Chapter Four:
To be a Clone was to be property. A soldier, a weapon, a flesh-droid. It was the brief, inevitable fate of a Trooper.
They were in it together, brother to brother to brother, and from that came a culture all their own, an experience all their own. No outsider, no matter how close or empathetic, could understand.
…Yet Commander Effen… there was something about him…

Year-End Fic Recs 2022 - part 1
Every year, my fellow fanfic writers blow me away with their talent, their creativity, and their heart. I’m compiling a list to share a few of the fics I read (or reread) this year and would recommend -- by no means an exhaustive list of the many talented writers and wonderful stories, and not exclusively stories that came out or updated this year, but a place to start. Because I have a lot to say, I’ll be sharing these in multiple posts.
Fic Recs Part I: Leia Organa Has Become Unstuck in Time
Tumblr media
One of my favorite tropes, I’m learning, is “Leia travels to the past -- either on purpose or by accident -- and tries her damnedest to fix things, while the people she meets inevitably fall in love with her and try to get her to let others take care of her for a change / make her take care of herself for at least ten minutes. With varying amounts of success.”
Of Queens, Knights, and Pawns by @chancecraz: TFA-era Leia Organa goes to sleep the night of Han’s death and wakes up in her 19-year-old body, just as 19-year-old Leia is being transported to the Death Star from the Tantive IV. *Stefon voice* This fic has everything: time travel, angst, humor, romance, Force shenanigans, unlikely friendships and surprising allies, scary parents, political intrigue, BAMF Leia Organa, ride-or-die Han Solo falling in love with Leia all over again, Bail and Breha Organa being awesome (and alive!), Luke educating others on Tatooine culture, Leia and Obi-Wan getting drunk together, dreamscape discussions between Leia and Vader, discussions of the clones and the Jedi, considerations of the fall of the Republic and the neglect of the Outer Rim, droids that make me cry, and just beautiful, complex writing throughout. It is a bit of a commitment (each chapter is often novella length or longer), has a fair amount of angst, and does include a timeline in which at least the TFA part of the sequels happened, but it’s well worth it.
The Don’t Look Back series (Like Fire in Our Bones, Blood of Our Father, and Duty Bound are the primary stories) by @this-acuteneurosis: Not long after ROTJ, Leia is grieving, having just lost Han, Luke, Chewie, and the droids while they were on a mission for the New Republic. Anakin Skywalker’s Force Ghost offers Leia a chance to go back in time to the person who could help her fix it all: a pre-AOTC Shmi Skywalker. When Leia and Shmi reconnect with Padmé on their way to Coruscant, they become part of refugee resettlement, political intrigue, Jedi business, clone rights, and much more. Includes some wonderful relationship-building with Obi-Wan and Anakin, Leia learning to deal with her power in the Force, Leia dealing with grief (or refusing to deal with grief, as the case may be), Leia trying to wend her way past Palpatine’s machinations, Threepio being important to the plot, some surprise help from Force Ghosts, Anakin getting some much-needed support, and Leia sassing a Sith Lord. Oh, and at some point you may find yourself shipping Leia and Obi-Wan (the OWK series is not canon in this story, just FYI). If you love Shmi or Padmé and the handmaidens, you will especially enjoy this series. The most recent fic, Duty Bound, is currently updating on a regular basis, but you should start from the beginning.
Shifting Sands by @chancecraz: TFA-era Leia is exploring a Force cave with Luke and ends up thrown back into TPM-era Mos Espa, where she meets Anakin and Shmi Skywalker prior to Padmé and Qui-Gon’s arrival. Told from different characters’ points of view, we see how Leia’s intervention with the two people she calls Old Man and Grandmother alters the prequel timeline and begins to change the Jedi’s approach to Anakin, their approach to the reemergence of the Sith, and Leia’s relationship with her own Force powers. Features wonderful characterization and perspectives from Mace Windu, Padmé Amidala, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and (coming up in the next chapter) Shmi Skywalker herself.
Fox and Leia’s Holiday Special by @yellowocaballero: This is a Tumblr-only fic that plays off another time-travel story by this author, Twilight on Owl Creek Bridge (which involves Clone Commander Fox and Leia connecting across time as Leia tries to avert her future and appears as a ghost in Fox’s present; also, Fox keeps waking up in the fountains in the Jedi Temple). In the Holiday Special, Leia is in prequel times and has managed to free Fox’s mind from Palpatine’s Dark Side programming and enlist him in her plot to assassinate his boss and prevent the rise of the Empire and the slaughter of the Jedi. But the recent changes in Fox -- including the fact that he is regularly seen willingly and happily interacting with a natborn Senator -- have not gone unnoticed by his clone brothers, who jump to some conclusions about his and Leia’s relationship. I love this little fic; it’s funny, tender, and has some wonderful things to say about how important a deep, platonic relationship can be, and how it can transform someone’s life. Also the power of office gossip to really throw things off.

For the "what reminds your followers of you" thing....
Definitely anything praising the man, the BAMF, the legend himself....Mace Windu.
YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT IT IS
I just think that Mace.
He deserves the world - no - the GALAXY over. He’s been a bastion of Jedi principle and I’ll be damned if someone tries to pry him from my cold dead hands.
He’s one of those characters that I feel like someone threw into SW for affirmative action and then they didn’t realize people actually liked him, so they just give him barebones crumbs and the literal minimum? And it sucks seeing a lot of people just - okay with that, not wanting to change that. We get little on his Master, who certainly would have imparted her own views on him. There’s no continuity on WHO his master is between T’ra Saa and Cyslin Myr, or why he is recorded as having two.
Don’t get me started on Shatterpoint I beg. Ohhh my God I can’t believe a book makes me so happy and then simultaneously lets me down- ANYWHO
Mace 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
One day when I look at TCW harder again I’ll drop his life shenanigans on yall <3

Summary: Fine. Skywalker would tag along during the ship ride, sure. As soon as they got to Stewjon they’d be going their separate ways. Anakin knew they were going to the planet, not to the mountains, so maybe Cody could just drop him off at some village and then get back on the ship and actually fly to the mountains. Yeah, that would work.
Cody tried not to think of how callous he seemed. He knew Skywalker was grieving Obi-Wan just as he was, but Cody just needed… he wasn’t sure what he needed. But he was certain that he didn’t need Skywalker. Skywalker had a wife to go back to, and a Padawan who was considering working with the Order again, and two ade about to enter the world. Cody had his vode, who all needed space to learn who they wanted to be. He used to have Obi-Wan too. Now Cody was alone, and he wanted it to stay that way while he figured out what the kriff he was going to do with the rest of his life. Obi-Wan was supposed to be there to help him, let Cody share his dreams. Cody was lost without him.

Read the Fine Print
The start of this came to me in a dream. Let's see where it goes.
It starts during the vote that made the Jedi generals. We are two weeks after Geonosis. Mace Windu and Adi Gallia are standing in the Jedi pod in the Senate radiating serenity. They watch as Senator after Senator vote that the Jedi and the clones would bear the responsibility and the in lives for a war that they never chose.  They watch as the vote passes.
When the results are official, Mace Windu dips his head, “This is the will of the Senate, then?” His voice is a study in neutrality, “That the Jedi take command of the clones and fight.”
Chancellor Palpatine nodded, an air of weary sorrow surrounding him “I regret that it is a necessity, but I have every confidence in the Jedi.”
Windu’s face never even twitched, then he pulled out a personal Comm. The entire Rotunda watched in faint confusion as the Jedi Master punched in a Comm code. “Master Ti, it’s confirmed, you and Master Kress may start clearing Kamino.” There was a chirped confirmation that echoed in the silence before the Comm went dark. Windu sighed, “We had hoped that the Senate would make the right choice.”
A murmur broke out as the entire Rotunda shook for a full minute.  Only Master’s Windu and Gallia didn’t look at all confused. Far away the faint sounds of alarms began to sound.
“We had hoped the Senate would make the right choice” Mace Windu repeated, voice pitching to carry across the new cacophony. “We didn't trust you would.”
A crowd of aides rushed into various Pods in the Rotunda, someone cried in a loud voice that the Jedi temple just took off.
Chancellor Palpatine managed to quiet the sudden chaos to turn to a still serene pair of Jedi Masters, “and just what is going on, Master Jedi?”
There was something in Master Windu’s eye that said that he was amused, though his face was as stoic as ever “A thousand years ago, as part of the Ruusan reformation, The Jedi signed a treaty with the Republic. In that treaty they agreed to dissolve the army of light, and never again take up the mantle of a military. The Jedi agreed to return to the temple on Coruscant and a number of other seemingly minor concessions. By forcibly conscripting the Jedi to be Generals, the Republic has violated section 4 of that treaty, voiding it and every subsequent measure passed regarding the Jedi Order. Until such a time that a new treaty is in place The Jedi Order, and all that it entails, can not remain within the Republic.”
Chancellor Palpatine looked legitimately surprised for a moment, “Master Jedi, surely there is something that while we work out such trivial legalities? Something that will keep the Jedi on Coruscant where they belong”
Adi Gallia leaned forward to make sure that she was staring the Chancellor in the eyes, making no attempt to hide her mirth “that would be deeply inappropriate, Chancellor. Why, without the treaties in place, we can’t even be sure that we are members of the republic, legally speaking. What was it you said when Little Keldabe was asking for a heavier guard presence during the riots a few years ago…oh yes, Republic resources are for republic citizens.”
“But who’s going to lead the clones?” A senator burst out.
Master Windu smiled, “You needn’t worry, the clones are coming with us.”
It sounded like an explosion was going off from sheer noise alone. It took several more minutes before the noise ebbed enough for the Vice Chancellor, Mas Amedda, was able to demand an explanation.
“It really is quite simple” Master Windu drawled, “Every bit of the legal paperwork regarding the creation of the clones list the Jedi Order as the client. It was only the agreements in the Ruusan treaty, which made it so that the Jedi Order could not have a standing army, that caused the fate of the clones to be turned over to the senate. With those agreements null and void, guardianship of the clones reverts back to the Jedi Order.”
In the confusion no one noticed as two Jedi Masters removed themselves from the Rotunda. Then Coruscant.
Oh but this is not all.  You see the Jedi as an organization once occupied hundreds of worlds, worlds that they ceded to the Republic as an addendum to the Ruusan treaty. Worlds whose ownership also reverted back to the Jedi Order. Most of those worlds and moons were uninhabited with only the ruins of an old temple to mark the passing of time but not all. A handful of Senators woke to the news that, legally, they were no longer Republic citizens.  Any power that they thought they had was gone with the Jedi.
And perhaps it could have been ignored, these worlds simply going on as if they were still part of the Republic, but the Jedi were never ones to shirk their duty. Notices went out to both the Republic and the CIS, who had also lost a few planets, that any aggression toward these planets would be met with harsh reprisals.  10,000 Jedi and 1 Million clones spread throughout the galaxy to take residence on these planets (they spread in ways that mimicked the battalions in another universe). On the uninhabited ones, they simply built what was needed. They built homes and lives and learned from the old temples.  They also spread to the occupied planets, more carefully and trying to respect the cultures that had been there, but always…always helping.
Almost all the occupied planets that now belonged to the Jedi Order were considered poor, considered barely more than a waste of resources to the Senate. Mid rim and Outer Rim planets that were used to being ignored. So when a battalion of young, strong men showed up with almost an equal number of Farmers and teachers and magical Jedi and asked to live on their planet and learn their ways and help them all survive? Well these planets were not foolish enough to turn them down.
The Jedi have always been community minded, after all. They did choose an uninhabited planet whose temple had crumbled beyond repair to land the main temple; it was also decided that this world would be dedicated to the creches, the children. The Cadets from Kamino were also moved to this world and within a year the Healers had cured the rapid aging.  It took six months to find him, but eventually Boba Fett was brought to this world to grow and learn with his brothers.  He might never truly like Master Windu, but he could admit that what happened was not malicious. And, in the end, Hatred was exhausting.
Master Ti and Master Kress had ensured that they had taken everything that the Kaminoans had on Clones, and so had found out about the chips.  It took nearly 2 years for the Dechipping process to be complete.
Anakin Skywalker had been in the Healing Halls when the vote went down. At first it was to heal from losing his hand to Dooku. Without the pressures of a war bearing down on them, the healers also discovered the lingering soul damage from his slaughter of Tuskans and how that creeping damage was intertwining with his crush on Padme Amidala to change something wholesome into something very unhealthy.  At the suggestion of his healer, he remained comm friends with Padme but did not meet up with her often or alone, not for years.  They would discover that there was genuine attraction between them, and they were genuinely compatible, but that for a long time a romantic relationship between them held the ghosts of what happened on Tatooine and, after it was discovered, Palpatine's manipulations.  It would only be a full decade later, after Padme had left the Senate (and done her own metric ton of therapy) and each of them had multiple other partners (both platonic and romantic) that they were able to come together romantically in a healthy way.
Without the Senate rules in the way, and with the addition of the Clones, there was a massive restructuring of how the Jedi Order operated.  This is how Anakin got a total of fifteen new younger siblings of varying ages on the planet he and Obi Wan eventually settled on.
Obi Wan, who always seemed to rise to being a leader, was quickly put in charge of a settlement on the moon encircling the Creche planet. It had a temple that sat on a strong convergence in the force. Following some instinct that none of them could explain (the residual loyalty of a war that never happened was so strong it left an imprint that radiated out through the Multiverse) an entire battalion worth of clones simply insisted that they settle wherever Obi Wan was led by their Commander, Cody (they do eventually fall in love, because I am a rabid Codywan fan).  In fact many of the clones would simply arrive where a Jedi was and go ‘so I follow you now’.  Their settlement was close enough that the Creche often had field trips to the temple on the moon.  These field trips were how Obi Wan ended up with five additional children (a physically 14 year old Wooley, an actually 14 year old Ahsoka Tano, a physically 10 year old Trapper, a seven year old Reva, and a physically 11 year old Peel) in the seven years between their arrival and Anakin’s knighting, and 10 additional children after Anakin is knighted.
Obi Wan is also in the rotation of masters that got to go to tell the Senate to kriff off (as they tried to order the Jedi back to Coruscant) every six months or so. This is a source of great pleasure and giggling for all involved (and gave them a chance to see old friends in the Republic).
And the war, well the war actually fizzled pretty quickly. For all that Palpatine wanted to orchestrate a war, the thought of having to draft their own citizens quickly changed the minds of most of the Senate and Palpatine just didn’t have the power yet to force actions that looked good but would escalate things.
The Separatists tried to attack one planet. The republic planet of Stewjon (who did not care for Force Sensitives, thank you very much. They did deal with the Jedi Order so that they could have Force sensitives removed from the planet). The citizens watched Grievous's ship touchdown (As he had heard Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi was born on Stewjon. If asked, Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi would like to know what that had to do with anything) the citizens then very firmly ripped Grievous's arm off, beat his metal head in with it and told him to get off their planet. That was the only Republic world that the Separatist attacked. They then tried to attack a Jedi protected planet, only to turn back before ever touching down when they are confronted with an overwhelming force.
Palpatine was still a politician and good at misdirection. Even without the war he managed to hold onto his position for five years after he was supposed to have given it up. At last he either had to take his shot at an empire or give it up. He took his shot and rather than democracy dying to thunderous applause, he summarily ousted from the senate. His reaction was to start shooting lighting out of his fingertips. Everyone agrees that Senator Orna Fee Taa’s response was proportionate, but everyone would also feel much better if they knew where he got (and how he hid) that grenade launcher.
Also what is it about Master Mace Windu that makes it feel like calling him Mace is too familiar?

The Path You Choose
The Path You Choose by DredgenSoul
“What the hell are you?”
The mirror image of her smirked, yellow eyes alight with a sick pleasure that sent a tremor to Izumi's core.
“I'm the greatness you would have become if our master had fallen to the Dark Side, just as it was intended.”
Izumi's eyes widened, “you're… you're lying! Anakin would never-!”
“Never fall?” She snorted, “Never use the Dark Side of the force? He has touched its presence before, you know I speak the truth. Even now, he walks the path between, oh so close to falling at any time.”
Izumi said nothing.
"Search your feelings, you know it to be true!"

Prompt #8 - Mace Windu carries a can of Mace
Mace had a can of mace and just sprayed palpatine when he started trying to fry his ass with lightning
‘what’s in the hilt of your lightsaber?’ ‘pepper spray’
(We all know Samuel Jackson would thoroughly approve)
He would’ve also used his lightsaber as a lighter for an impromptu flamethrower.
Mace Windu can turn anything into a weapon
"You see this tissue, Skywalker, I can kill a man 50 different ways with this tissue. See this can of mace? Why do you think they call me "Mace" Windu?"
Mace got his name because he once accidentally maced yoda when he was a padawan and that’s that on that
He doesn’t regret a single thing
And people are too shy to ask because for all they know "Mace" might be a normal Korrun name
Anakin asks. He asks because he's a little shit and this is how their animosity actually starts
Yoda knows his real name but he ain't snitching
“—and that’s the story of how i got my name.” “Why did you tell me?” “Because no one will ever believe you.” “MOTHER—!”
And of course, the entire temple knows in three hours flat that Skywalker called master Windu a motherfucker but is absolutely refusing to say why and master Windu is looking smug
To this day it is still something they speculate over
Obi-Wan: Anakin! Anakin, care to explain why you called Master Windu— that!?
Anakin: He knows what he did!
 Mace: I do.
Obi-Wan: Is anyone going to tell me??
 Mace and Anakin: No.

Chapter 10 of Men of Power is up!
Summary:
No matter which way you sliced it, there was something  wrong about a man of Palpatine’s age and position threatening them for  unsolicited access to a child.
Or, alternatively:
When an  old powerful man suddenly comes in and sweeps your underage padawan away  without so much as a by your leave, that’s the time to start asking  questions.
Sneak Peak:
Beneath him, Anakin breathes. His breath, warm in the chilly Alderaanian air, ghosts over Obi-Wan’s mangled palm. He registers it. Acknowledges the fact that Anakin is breathing, which means he’s alive, which means Obi-Wan didn’t fail — hasn’t failed. Anakin’s alive so the galaxy can stop feeling as if it’s going to crush him now, except it can’t because Anakin is alive, but the Chancellor is dead, Sei Taria is dead, and Obi-Wan Kenobi is absolutely the worst Jedi Knight in the history of the Order, and he never should have been allowed to teach a padawan if these are the kinds of lessons he may unwillingly impart.
What have I done? He thinks, as Bail Organa continues to vomit.
Attachment, countless lessons whisper back.
He sacrificed the leader of the Republic to save his apprentice. He didn’t even hesitate.
Anakin would have died, his mind reminds.
The Chancellor did die, he hisses back.
