do you find yourself wanting rustic sci-fi music for your tabletop campaign but dislike how most of that genre seems to be focused on space westerns? need some mood-setting music that your players won't recognise as the soundtrack for a game they've played?
check out the mecha-inspired tabletop soundtrack, NOMAD/VIRTUE - Soundtrack for Mechanised Roleplaying [Act 1]
also, I realised I didn't clarify this anywhere before, but just so it's said, you ARE allowed to use this in podcasts, streams, and similar small-scale productions as long as you include the line "BGM provided by Ri47 Heavy Industries" somewhere plainly visible, along with a link back to the bandcamp page
if you want a more proper licence to include tracks from this album in an indie game or something like that, you can also drop me a line and we'll work something out!
thanks for your time!

The inaugural volume of Queer Noise Terror is finally here. Featured are 30 underground LGBTQIA+ artists showcasing the more abrasive and subversive sides of queer music and culture. Circuit party anthems have been traded in for circuit bending experimentation here (we kept all the filth and sleaze, though!). We’ve got lots of noise, power electronics, metal, industrial, ebm, dark ambient… almost 3 hours of audio warfare!
Featuring: STRAIGHT PANIC, Mictain & Mørk Verden, SUGARPIE, False Maria, Burial Woods, No Tuesdays, Hydra, THRESHOLD, HYPERECLUSE, Garden Angel, WELTSCHMERZ, Farrah Faucet, VÆPORS, Chv.Volk, Bratislavská Krutosť, Gyna Bootleg, Destitute Mirror Children, The Cost ov Living, MITH-XX, Quivering / Nausia, Mono Theory, Morerose, Salò Mentale, Tiefling, Walter Campbell, A.S. Valentino, Density Creep, Skúška Sirén, Robert Ferent, and V.I.L.E. (Desdemona Ill, Richard Ramirez, Sean Ramirez).
A warning for the uninitiated: Noise, as the name suggests, can at times be incredibly distorted, intensely bass heavy, and can genuinely wreck your speakers (and your ears) if not treated with respect. Proceed with caution, for you are now “at your own risk”.
You may freely share this digital compilation with others via the internet so long as the compilation remains whole and unedited. Any commercial use of any part of this compilation is strictly prohibited. Please contact the artists directly with any licensing requests or questions. Now, go get your face melted off!

Okay I finally generated an ask for you!!!!
What is your favourite genre of music? Or if you don't know how to categorize the music you listen to (like me), what is your favourite song? Or band? Or album? Something like that.
ohhhhh #1 question i am categorically incapable of being normal about <3
i typically just define my favorite music as "loud" or "aggressive" or "abrasive" bc most stuff that fits those descriptors will be in my faves regardless of the genre.
a more specific answer is that there are 3 main things i've noticed that will typically make me go apeshit without fail and they are: 1. hardstyle/gabber/industrial hardcore- sorta basskick 2. sickass metal guitar shredding 3. huge dramatic grandiose orchestral
if something has 1 of these i will probably like it, if it has 2 it will be a top fave, and all 3.... well i have yet to find it yet but im sure i will Ascend. here are examples of said top fave combos.
laur covers hardstyle+orchestral and i Cannot Get Enough of his shit man it goes so fucking crazy hard
metal+orchestral is unquestionably ruled by nightwish, but theyre not on bandcamp and i dont feel like finding other links so this one goes to the still-very-fucking-awesome runner-up, POWERWOLF
riikira and rabbitjunk hit metal+hardstyle, though it's less strictly hardstyle and more just general hardcore* electronica. if its got crazy amens its enough who cares. i put the ones that use actual kicks for the sake of illustrating the point here but these tracks are both pretty far from my faves from each lmao *hardcore referring to hardcore [edm] in this case, even though the genre these belong to is called "digital hardcore", which instead refers to hardcore [punk]. it's a mess out here. did you know theres two completely different things called doomcore where one is derived from metal and the other is derived from hardcore. and you never know which itsd going to be when you click on something in the doomcore tag. im dying squirtle
anyway on the other side of the hardstyle+metal combo is kobaryo [with his alias blaxervant], who's much more about the hardcore side of things and just has the metal as flair, but it is still: the best shit ever
laur also on occasion hits this side of hardstyle+metal becaue he just likes using whatever the fuck instruments
there are of course many other things i love a lot, primary examples being ambient/atmospheric, folk, and anything with a lot of Texture. im not gonna get into all that but i do have an extended list of faves/recs from the last time i was asked about this and went insane abt it. it took forever to make and my actual recs are not entirely the same as my Faves so im putting it on here too.
Tumblr media
i keep these curated to the top of my bandcamp profile so they're the first things that display there. it's a bit old by now and some have since been shuffled out, but it's still like 80% accurate.
as for the actual recs: the angel's message is there because it's my fave brand of intense and chaotic stuff and want it to kill you full force. it already has some tracks up there so im not re-linking it
this one i recommend just because i think it's really interesting and out there and i'm curious what other people think of this sort of stuff. it's also the prime example of what i mean when i talk about Textures in music.
wolfgun is an actual rec for being genuinely just really good music. probably the most objectively cool/platonically enjoyable thing in my library

Part 1: Ary's favourite releases of 2023
Before you ask, yes I know that Mitski and Sufjan Stevens released albums this year! I'm gonna go ahead and assume they're already on a lot of other people's lists! However, if you think I'm missing out on YOUR favourite album of 2023, let me know. If you're thinking: "63 albums isn't that many, I wish there were more" - you're in luck because there's a Part 2. Part 2 has a different (more pop? upbeat? accessible?) vibe. Don't think too hard about it...
The chart isn't ranked, just arranged in a way that looked nice to me. Metal, hardcore, rap, emo, skramz, bedroom pop and more!!!
Tumblr media

Howdy friends! Today is Bandcamp Friday - please consider snagging my album "Void Glide" released a coupla months ago. Aimed to make it a variety of electronic jams. Something in here for everyone:
140bpm "snares are illegal" techno? Track 1. Dark menacing midtempo with distorted acid? Track 2. Noise, Funky basslines and Public Enemy samples chopped? Track 5 [press play!]. Heavy industrial cronch? Track 6. 155bpm ravestab-friendly breakbeat? Track 8. Deeply funky electro midtempo and a hilariously placed "BASS!" vocal sample? Track 9. Punishingly witchy culmination of rave stabs, bass, acid and relentless techno? Track 10.
I don't really care about the monies, I just want folks to dig it. So here's some freebie download codes too because why not. Redeem at: https://royb0t.bandcamp.com/yum:

Sea, hi! Can you explain this pls, is this like a data mining or is it better?
https://www.tumblr.com/seasurfacefullofclouds1/734912389719425024
Reading about the business from the website, I think Openstage is a way for artists to reach their fans through mobile texting and social media messaging directly, bypassing the industry gatekeepers like radio, Spotify numbers, charts, major labels, etc.
Every time you “sign up” to receive fan email or buy merch or enter a contest for an artist, you are agreeing to be saved to a database of “fans” who will receive marketing.
This happens no matter how or where you sign up. Music labels do it, radio stations do it, some artists do it themselves, Spotify does it. They use this database of an invested audience to market to consumers, but also to gauge interest for upcoming projects.
Openstage is operating as a third-party marketer, rather than through a music label like Sony or a tour promoter (like LiveNation, for example). Artists pay them a fee, and they run the direct-to-consumer marketing campaigns.
With Lewis Capaldi and Only The Poets, they directly messaged fans to “pre-save” songs or tour tickets. Lewis Capaldi had enough pre-saves on his single to assure a No. 1 in the UK. Only The Poets were able to get enough fan interest to book larger European venues and turn a tour where they lost money to a profitable one. I think Lewis Capaldi fans received personalized texts on their phones and a few had direct personal videos sent to them.
Going direct-to-consumer is a way for artists to tour without having to buy payola on Spotify or radio, or to have big promotional budgets. This is possible only in an age where most fans own smart phones.
Right now, the power balance in the music business greatly favors the major music labels and the biggest digital streaming services. Openstage and Bandcamp are both ways to disrupt this imbalance, especially for artists who have a strong connection to their fans.
Now… this is a young company, and going up against the industry norm is a David vs. Goliath situation. The few very big artists using this service (Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi) have major label backing, and they also have enough industry presence that they can go directly to fans AND also have normal, label-backed promo.
Obviously the easiest way to take care of a competitor for marketing services is for a major label or streaming service to acquire Openstage. They would love having all these intensely loyal fans doing their promo for free, right? In a way, we are already doing that by running UAs and fan projects, by running blogs and fan accounts on social media. But Openstage would have a specific database of fans, our likes and dislikes.
The difference with the datamining that DEMAND (Azoffs, Harry Styles) did a few years ago is that DEMAND datamined fans’ devices (computers, phones) indiscriminately and without disclosure. They were hoping to monitor fans’ spending habits, your travel plans, your favorite sportswear brands, your capacity to spend money on tour (like dynamic pricing, hotels, restaurant bills) in real time. This intent was presented in their business presentation.

Not to sound like a music guy but sometimes I feel crazy when I post like big name industrial like Skuppy or Ministry or NIN or whatever and it gets like a dozen or more notes but then when I post one of the smaller recent industrial bands who are keeping the scene and genre alive with their new stuff it gets like. Maybe 1 or 2 notes. I don’t mean to be pretentious and be like “oh you’re not real fans unless you know the obscurest bands with 3 Spotify listeners and a Bandcamp” it’s not a contest it just makes me kinda sad lol like I just want to see these guys all get more support. Coming from someone extremely active in the IRL local industrial scene this has been an INSANE year for industrial music with so many old bands releasing new shit and new bands doing brand new things, music festivals across the country & world with bands old and new, just so much activity it really feels like the industrial scene is just lighting up coming to life right now and to get just a tad pretentious I see sooooo many people online bitching about how media nowadays apparently sucks soooo much compared to the old shit and it just makes me sad because if you just looked deeper than the most accessible biggest names you could find SO MUCH.

Gaming as Anti-Anxiety
Hey friends, I’m sorry I haven’t been posting much lately. Been struggling with health issues, and as a result my old nemesis anxiety has resurfaced a bit as well.
Aside from the many anti-anxiety medications available, which are effective but highly addictive and have side effects (the pharmaceutical industry generally prefers to make lifelong customers), there are several other effective methods of calming anxiety. Among these options are meditation, thought labeling (recognizing the anxiety for what it is), self-reassurance, counseling, deep breathing, yoga, magnesium, vitamin B12*, vitamin D*, CBD, essential oil aromatherapy (lavender, jasmine, lemon balm, and more), sound therapy and guided meditation, sunlight and nature therapy, and crystal therapy (blue calcite, smoky quartz, and hypersthene are quite helpful). Getting enough sleep, food, water, and exercise if you’re able to (I’m not) are also very important for keeping anxiety in check.
If you’re interested, I make relaxing sound healing music that’s free to listen to and download on my Bandcamp page: https://hearherenow.bandcamp.com/album/retrospect
Being around someone or calling someone that you feel comfortable with who cares about you is incredibly helpful when anxiety occurs; hugs, holding your hand, and helping distract you from your worries with good company, conversation, and laughter. As funny as it may sound, holding your own hand when no one is around can actually help too.
It’s important to do the self-work to recognize where our fears and worries stem from, to face ourselves fully without any denial, and to learn to offer ourselves the support that we need. As terrifying as it feels, facing our fears is the surest way through them. Anxiety is a mental program that can certainly be reprogrammed with effort and dedication, and we have the power to transform our mental and physical reactions from harmful ones to beneficial ones through mindfulness and neural plasticity (the ability to “rewire” our brains).
Another effective way to refocus a worried mind is to play calming video games. I’ve put together a list of the most relaxing games that I’m familiar with, and it’s my sincere hope that they’ll help you find temporary solace from your worries when they feel overwhelming. Several of these games have helped me through some anxious times in my life, and I’m very grateful to the developers for making them.
A Short Hike Alpaca Stacka Animal Crossing series Astroneer Captain Toad Treasure Tracker Cloudpunk Cozy Grove Cruis’n USA & Cruis’n World Dark Cloud Day of the Tentacle Dorfromantik Dragon Quest Builders 1 & 2 Eastshade Flower Firewatch Gone Home Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons series Islanders Journey Kingdom: Two Crowns Minecraft (especially peaceful and creative modes) My Time at Portia Night in the Woods No Man’s Sky (you may occasionally land on some planets with extreme temperatures, radiation, and storms) Okami Persona 4 Pokémon Snap & New Pokémon Snap Portal 1 & 2 Proteus Rime Rune Factory series Secret of Monkey Island series Shelter 1, 2, & Generations Slime Rancher 1 & 2 Snowrunner Spiritfarer Stardew Valley Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 Terraria (bosses can be stressful but most require specific items to spawn in the world, so you can avoid spawning them when feeling stressed) The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim (dragon battles can be a little intense, but can largely be avoided, and only a few are required to complete the game; bringing NPC companions along helps a lot with tougher battles too) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (avoid confronting Guardians and Lynels as these battles can be stressful) The Outer Wilds The Sims series The Witness Untitled Goose Game Viva Piñata series Yonder: Cloud Catcher Chronicles
You are not alone my friend. Feel the community around you and the ground beneath your feet supporting you. You are understood, you are loved, and you are stronger than you realize. * Note that deficiencies in either vitamin D or B12 can result in anxiety and depression, but taking too much of either can cause problems as well. Getting sunlight or taking cod liver oil is more natural and generally preferable to supplementing with Vitamin D. There are 4 forms of vitamin B12 and finding the right one for you requires some research and a little bit of trial and error to find the best form for your body; you can absolutely ask your doctor about this, but from my experience most GP’s aren’t terribly knowledgeable about vitamins (a functional or integrated medicine doctor, naturopath, or nutritionist will usually be a more reliable resource). Taking too much B12 or a form that your body doesn’t need may actually result in some anxiety, so proceed gently. As with any supplement, always start with a low dose.
This post can also be read and listened to (text-to-speech) on my Medium page at:  https://medium.com/@AbleGaming/gaming-as-anti-anxiety-c1454efc7082

People just say anything. Entry-level band, I opened Apple Music earlier, and was thinking about making a post on how the popular music is sold as a commodity, and how people consume it.
I know in the end, Apple Music and Bandcamp provide the same service, but I don't receive psychic damage when I open Bandcamp.
The band they're talking about is The Daysleepers. The thing about my dreampop/shoegaze tag is that I try to cover the full spectrum of the genre. I'm more of a Slowdive fan than a mbv fan. I just vibe with Slowdive more, but I would marry mbv's Off Your Face if it was a person, seriously.
I'm always caught off guard when I have conversations about music with people who:
Don't know me, and don't realize how much and wide a variety I listen to. I'm currently panicking because I've hit less than 100 gigs left on my 1 TB SD card.
Brag about what they listen to, but quickly expose the militarized borders of their taste. I was recommended an Eminem song by a coworker last week because it was edgy. I want to send him a Chatpile song and fuck up his entire year so bad.
I view all music as a spectrum. There are some corners I love to go digging in, and some corners which are not for me, Fresh Out The Slammer huh.......
Currently I'm digging through '60s and '70s jazz, which bleeds into various degrees of noise, which bleeds into various degrees of electronic, which bleeds into contemporary classical, which bleeds into post rock, which bleeds into metal, which bleeds into industrial, which bleeds into no wave, which bleeds into post punk, which bleeds into funk, which bleeds into r&b, which bleeds into rap, which bleeds back into jazz.
And I could go on.
Since the beginning of the year, I've been obsessed with Rafael Toral, Muslimgauze, Skullflower and Niecy Blues.
I had Pan Sonic in the car last month, and Emeralds this month.
As I say about my own music, I think about it like soup. You put thoughts/ingredients in, let them simmer, bleed together and see what comes out, adjust ingredients to taste.

NEW FOR BANDCAMP FRIDAY
It’s #bandcampfriday and we've got an amazing bunch of new tapes available to pre-order (along with loads of other good stuff).
1) BLACK TEMPEL PYRÄMID "Meditations On Consequences" (only 3 copies left)
2) BLACK TEMPEL PYRÄMID “Sun Songs" (only 1 copy left)
Two albums recorded between June & November 2022, this is the experimental American primitive Krautrock project of Patrick R. Pärk. A collection of sonic heady works that will pull you in for a bizarre & dark American primitive nightmare journey.
3) MIKE NEAVES "You're Welcome"
A masterpiece of 160bpm spidery fractured techno. The sound of the jittery Monday AM interior of your skull, & the mutant sounds of the weekender you wish you were at instead.
4) SALISMAN & HIS UNWAVERING CIRCLE "Parched"
The soundtrack for troubled times: Rivers of synthesizers. Pedal steel drenched in warbling tape echo. Tense electronic rhythms and rustic percussion.
5) POUND LAND "Violence"
8 filthy tracks of vitriolic desperation set against a backdrop of nineties alt-metal industrial abstracted by psych doom and post-punk.
'Violence is an album that captures that sense of perpetual anger, frustration & ever-creeping hopelessness. Of course, it does all that while making a gloriously malevolent racket.' (4/5) - Andy Brown, Louder Than War
6) DRAGGED UP "Hex Domestic EP"
New EP from the off-kilter psych-garage Glasgow proto-punk band, featuring members from Trembling Bells, Vom, The Owsley Sunshine & Las Mitras.
