SHRIMP TOURNAMENT!!!

(make sure to read info on both contenders before voting! some information may be hidden under "read more"!!)

BANDED CORAL SHRIMP (Stenopus hispidus)

AKA: coral banded shrimp, banded cleaner shrimp

technically, BCS aren't true shrimp, but we'll make an exception due to how closely related they are (wink). these big guys boast gigantic claws and red-white stripes covering their entire bodies! they're able to distinguish between individual banded coral shrimp (presumably through chemical signals), which is quite a rare trait for crustaceans! they're also monogamous and mate for life, a trait also quite uncommon for most crustaceans! if one partner dies, the other will never mate again and supposedly live the rest of its life solitary.

EMPEROR SHRIMP (Periclimenes imperator)

AKA: N/A

these colorful shrimp form commensal* relationships with nudibranch (most commonly "spanish dancers"), in which the latter protects the former from harm by being toxic to most other animals. depending on their size, however, emperor shrimp may choose to live on sea cucumbers instead, and they're actually quite dedicated to their choice- if a larger shrimp is moved from a nudibranch to a sea cucumber (and vice versa), they'll go out of their way to find their original partner again!

*where one organism benefits from another without hurting or helping it- although it's still debated on whether or not the other party benefits in this situation

Today I learned there’s a bunch of interesting shrimp, and now I want them as Cookies

I’m just going to list some I found today. I’ve already talked about Pistol Shrimp, so I won’t talk about it here

Harlequin Shrimp:

Like where do these things start and end? I don’t know, but they look really cool. I heard they can also change color based on their mood. If you were to make them a Cookie, I’d say make them a clown, perhaps for a rival circus to the Big Top Circus (that was the name of Banana and Ice Juggler’s circus, right?)

Amano Shrimp:

Okay, so maybe they’re not the most interesting looking, and maybe also not the most interesting, but still. Though also I hear that they change color based on their diet? I dunno. But what I was looking at that I thought was interesting was that they’re apparently very active cleaners. I feel like you could make them a cleaner that’s also very particular about messes, and perhaps a bit of a germaphobe? Like, if they see a mess, they just have to clean it

Vampire Shrimp:

(They apparently come in multiple colors, so I just got a few different pictures of different colors)

I think what makes them most interesting is that despite their size (apparently they’re pretty big, at least for shrimp) and name, they’re apparently rather calm and non aggressive. Also they’re supposedly pretty shy and reclusive. Honestly, it kind of reminded me of Dark Choco Cookie, which is probably a big reason I like them. Also they’re very big and bulky, which makes them look kind of cute to me, I don’t know why. Also they only come out at night, which is probably another reason for their name

I don’t have much in terms of ideas for a Vampire Shrimp Cookie, other than people finding them scary at first, only to realize they’re really not. I just wanted to show you them (also I feel like using this for a Dark Choco/Lobster kid if I ever do one)

Ghost/Glass Shrimp:

I mostly just added them because it’s an easy “ghost Cookie” if you wanted to have one. Also they’re see through, which is cool

Bay Ghost Shrimp:

Apparently these shrimps are soft, or at least softer than other shrimp. Also they have asymmetrical claws, as you can see. They apparently spend a lot of time burrowing. I’m also running out of ideas for how to turn this into a Cookie, but I thought it was neat. I suppose it would be something pertaining to its digging abilities

I think I’m gonna stop here, but still, cool shrimp

Edit: oh, also, another one, Boxer Shrimp, also known as Banded Coral Shrimp, among other names

Apparently they use their claws to clean fish and remove things like algae and parasites from them to eat. Also they can sense fish with their antenna apparently. I’d say either go the obvious route of a boxer, or something to do with their cleaning thing, though I don’t know what. Perhaps some sort of doctor? Maybe just confined to other sea creatures?

Also Fairy Shrimp

I wasn’t able to find much on them, but they’re relatively large and slow and typically used as food. Also they like to swim upside down. They’d probably make for a more cute Cookie

You know, I find it kind of ironic how I’m now thinking shrimp are really cool, despite the fact that my dad is allergic to shrimp (and I’m not sure if I am), and my family just generally dislikes seafood

A Cookie Run Oc dump!

First of is Pink Taffy Cookie!

They're a jester that's REALLY flexible, and can bend their body to do cool tricks. They also have the ability to switch their mask to show different expression. No-one knows how they do it, they just can.

Cookies that meet Pink Taffy Cookie also wonder what they look like underneath the mask, however, no-one knows. And since Pink Taffy Cookie completely covers their body, their actual identity besides their name is really unknown. Some Cookies even theorize that they're not even a Cookie. Of course, no-one can confirm nor debunk it.

Next is actually a redesign of an old Oc, Banded Coral Shrimp Cookie! (Right is the old design)

He still accidentally scare some Cookie due to his appearance, but he's still an absolute sweetheart. He has a mixed-up sleep schedule (Due to actual Banded Coral Shrimps being nocturnal.) So he sometimes works at night and sleeps in the day and vice versa.

And now finally, Langue de Chat's older sister, Ladyfingers Cookie!

She's a therapist that usually works out of town. It's really hard to make her mad, so she really calm and collective. She also has a secret thing for noodles. Any food that contains noodles and she will eat that all up.

This is a very specific thing I said to my friends so if they follow your blog then they would know who I am but the whole thing of buy one get two free deal came from something that is common in my country where in local bazaars they sell these showering kits that came with shampoo, conditioner and a bottle of liquid soap my mind clearly infected with twst could only think about the octotrio being one of these packages Azul is the soap, and the twins are the shampoo and conditioner and the three of the products are wrapped with tape so you are forced to get the three which is oddly cute to me but onto the main thing!

Came up with another octotrio polycule idea since yuu represents a shrimp in Floyd's weird lenses of seeing the world sometimes if done intentionally or not you tend to clean up the twins or patch them up even fixing up their (poorly put on) uniform Jade got dirt in his face when he was in a mountain trip? Come here you careless eel and wipe out the dirt then you can talk about your new findings BUT WASH YOUR HANDS FIRST

Floyd decided to do parkour or maybe he just dumped a whole smoothie on himself because he was hot and used the drink to cool off and there you go, disinfect the wounds or scratches and putting silly cute band-aids (one time he got mad that his favorite design was out and you placed a mushroom design band aid since he still needed one, remind yourself to go stack up with the band-aids before Jade goes and sniffles about his dear brother using his favorite band-aids)

I am thinking that since the twins are a bit much more affectionate or aren't as busy as Azul is, you are doing one of your "Nurse/cleaner shirmp" (Floyd gave them the name) on one of the tweels and you guys were in Azul's office so he sighs trying to get attention he wishes that he also got his own nurse/cleaner shirmp affections if he doesn't say it out loud he can and will break his pen/ink flask and oh no! His gloves are completely ruined!! Clearly coaxing you into helping him with the mess or when he does voice his wishes about it when you two/three are present the tweels are quick to tease him about it "I thought that octopuses didn't go to cleaner shrimp stations?" or "Would you be able to provide protection in exchange? I thought that octopuses weren't predators" Okay that was rude, it is on. Of course that he can protect the shrimpy and if octopuses didn't go to cleaner shirmp stations then he would change that! Overall silliness and sweetness (They are having a discussion about planning to surprise you with a visit to the coral sea and going to visit their parents!!) they might turn almost anything into a friendly/loving competition and you are trapped in them but they are still so sweet and caring for you and each other 10/10 definitely a unique dynamic but awesome either way

I think Floyd takes the most delight in seeing you care for them like an actual shrimp. He thinks it's endearing and will definitely make efforts to get dirty or mildly hurt so that you'll attend to him.

The other two have their own nicknames for you: Jade calls you and Azul My Pearl/Darling while Azul calls you Angelfish and the twins Dear(s).

It's Azul's way of showing affection, as he is quite reserved with his affections, at least until you're all in private. He does envy the liberal affections that the twins have with you, Floyd in particular doesn't care much about what others think, and Jade generally is more reserved than his brother, but will still give you chaste kisses when saying hello/goodbye. Azul, at most, will hold hands and maybe tuck a loose strand of hair behind your ears, something he often does during quiet moments.

It may be silly, but he gets a little jealous at seeing y'all share PDA when he's still getting used to the new dynamic. So he's coaxing you to come help him clean up! Look at his hands, they're absolutely stained with ink! Won't you please help him clean up Angelfish? 🥺

It backfires as the twins also take the opportunity to “care” for Azul. Instead of letting you fuss over him quickly, they decide that this is a sign that he's much too tired to continue working, look at the mess he made! It's time to close his office early and cuddle pile in his bedroom!! Jade's making the extra effort to run a bath in the absurdly large tub in Azul's private bathroom, while Floyd is running around collecting pillows and blankets to make a nest/fort. You do your do diligence and help Jade tend to him, causing him to get more and more flustered.

The night ends with the twins teasing the silly little octopus for wanting some tending from the shrimp. They're complaining that he never asks for affection like that from them!!! Eels can be gentle too, we promise Azul~

(LONG POST) Alright everyone, please say hello to..

THE BANANA CREW!!

that's what I call them, but really they're just the members of the stowaway and her many travels. I'll talk about them right to left :] First, we've got the general crew- the Boxer Shrimp Cookies. Named and based Banded Coral Shrimps also. There are multiples of them, with small differences in between. Imagine the minions from despicable me or sir pentious's egg boiz from hazbin hotel.

Then we've got Goldenback Shrimp Cookie as the master-at-arms. Small and formidable. Right after is Cowbell Cookie, designed after Dairy Cow Isopods. Their muscle and tank. She's the Quartermaster by title, but in reality Goldie and Cow are a one-two hit team. A small hotheaded guy who tells his big doofus coworker how to do her job. He wields a rapier whilst she hauls around a big mallet.

some more old drawings of them.. Now, the last gal isn't actually part of the crew. She's a Bounty Hunter! Whale Shark Cookie is a no-nonsense working lady, with a team of smaller shark cookies I haven't drawn. Banana Eel sees her as a rival, and consistently goes out of his way to ruin her day. She wants them dead HAHA (there's also the thing a friend persuaded me to do.. which is making Cowbell having a silly little puppy crush on her even whilst they try killing eachother-- BUT THATS ANOTHER STORY FOR ANOTHER DA)

anywayss that's about it! Planning to go through and make full clean renders of ALL of these guys so I can finally start making silly comics of them. thank you for listening to my ramble B)

The Other Shrimp

Summary: Floyd x gn!reader You go to Floyd's highschool reunion and meet his ex, who happens to be a shrimp mer.

Cw: I'm spreading my bisexual Floyd Propaganda and no one can stop me! Also, reader is referred to as tiny by Floyd, but I hc he's ginormous in his mer form, so do with that what you will.

Floyd had made you come to his high school reunion. In his words, "I want to show off that I captured the best Shrimpy in the entire world."

While you weren't sure if you appreciated agreeing to date him being referred to as him "capturing you", you appreciated the sentiment. So after receiving a potion that would allow you to breathe underwater for the three day trip, you were now in an underwater venue surrounded by merpeople of all shapes and colors.

You'd left Floyd momentarily to grab a snack from a table. When you turned around, you saw a gorgeous mermaid hugging him, and running her hands up and down his arms.

She had orange hair, and two long white antennae that would have blended with her hair if they were an inch shorter. Her lips were orange and her skin was a blushy pink. Along her torso and arms were orange stripes, leading to an orange tail. She shone like the sun, and you were immediately upset that she was touching your boyfriend.

You swam over to them, snack in hand, and Floyd's eyes lit up when he saw you. Good, he was bored with her.

"Shrimpy!" He giggled, pulling you into his side. "What took you so long, I was getting bored." He pouted.

"Oh!" She said brightly. "Are you a shrimp mer too? I'm a banded coral, what are you dear?"

"Nope, shrimpy is my human. But," Floyd wrapped his tail and arms around you and gave a light squeeze. "Look how tiny they are!"

"Floyd," you wheezed as he squeezed tighter.

"Here let me help you," the mer said, extricating you from your again pouty boyfriend. "Believe me, I know just as well as you how tight Floyd's grip can be. Why, when we were dating…"

"Huh?" You choked.

"That was so long ago, let's talk about something fun!" Floyd sighed.

"Some things never change," she laughed, playfully hitting his arm. You wanted to tell her to keep her mitts off your man, but you didn't want Floyd to think you were unreasonable. Luckily for you…

"Shrimpy, I wanna go back to the hotel and squeeze you," Floyd "whispered", wrapping himself around you again. "I'm not feeling this party anymore."

So with as polite of a goodbye as you could manage, you both left the party.

….

You were back in your room with Floyd wrapped tightly around you, and you were still thinking about that mermaid.

"Shrimpy, your worrying is ruining my squeeze time. What's wrong?"

You hadn't realized you'd been that transparent. Then again, Floyd was exceedingly insightful when it came to those he cared about.

"How long did you date her?"

"Who?"

"That coral banded shrimp mermaid," you said nervously.

He looked at you, confused, and said, "About a month. She wanted to get at her parents by dating someone "dangerous and risky" and I thought she was squishy. So that's that."

"Why'd you break up?"

"Cause I got boooooooored that's why. I didn't love her," he rubbed his face against you with a playful smile on his face. "But I looooooooove my Y/N."

His face turned stormy for a moment, and he said, "So don't even think about breaking up with me, or I'll have to turn you into a real shrimp."

You giggled, "I won't break up with you Floyd."

"Good," he changed positions so he could flop on top of you. "Why are you asking about her?" Then he got a wicked smile on his face, and burst out laughing. "Wait, you're jealous, aren't you?"

"I am not," you pouted.

"Yes you are! You're so silly, Shrimpy. You're jealous of someone I dated for only a month, but you're fine with me hanging out with goldfishie? You're hilarious, I love you so much," he buried his face in your neck, still giggling.

"Look, I know it's silly, but she was so beautiful, and her voice was like listening to an angel chorus, and she's a mermaid, and an actual shrimp, so I was…"

"Shrimpy," he propped himself up on his forearms so he could hover over you. "Y/N. I love you. Not anyone else. Not someone I used to date. You. And that's never gonna change. You know why?"

"Don't say because I captu…."

"Because I captured you!" He leaned down and kissed you softly, then lowered himself to cup your face. "And I'm not gonna let you go."

You felt relief fill you, and initiated your own kiss. Then it hit you.

"Wait, what do you mean I'm 'fine with you hanging out with goldfishie'?"
