synopsis: mcnd’s fave summer thing to do with u

seongjun- amusement park

ok so it’s no surprise that seongjun loves roller coasters

literally anytime mcnd are in like a 20 mile radius of one

bros bouncing off the walls

like genuinely so excited

so when you said you wanted to go to one

bro was there

ready to go

anyways when you two get to whatever amusement park you go to

he’s so excited

he seems like the type to hold your hand so that he doesn’t loose you </3

he’d def want to do everything with you

you gotta be careful tho

especially if you’re someone who zones out easily

bc if you look at something for too long

bro will either take you there or get it for you

like if you’re looking off to the side

but there’s cotton candy there

he won’t hesitate to go and buy you some

i also feel like hes the type to try and win something for you

like those silly carnival games where you have to get the rings around the bottles

or shoot at a target

he’s also said he’s very competitive

so i can see him not leaving until he wins you something

but the look on your face when the worker hands you the stuffed animal makes it all worth it

as for the actual rides

seongjun has said he not afraid even the crazy ones

so as long as your comfortable with it, you two would ride basically any ride there

on the crazy scary ones he would hold your hand as you’re death gripping the cart scared for your life

bro would probs giggle at you too

he would also drag you onto the little kid rides

giggling as the two of you just have fun

when you two leave it’s pretty late

seongjun would refuse to let you carry your stuff as well

if one of you two drove you guys, he would offer to drive so that you could rest

but if you two were driven or took a bus

he would sit next to you

and let you rest your head on his shoulder

seungmin - going to a zoo

so like stick with me right

i feel like seungmin and you

would have the best day at the zoo

like seungmin would def grab one of those maps they give you at the entrance

even though you say you two don’t need it

and so you two are off

walking from animal to animal

i feel like seungmin would imitate them for you

just to see you laugh

bc he loves your laugh so much

he would also buy one of those stuff animals at the gift shop for you

he wanted to get you something cool

so when you told him you wanted a raccoon he was like

“you fr?”

but when you told him you wanted a raccoon bc it reminded you of him

and it would be a way to remember him when he’s on tour

bro was ready to buy every raccoon plushy the store had

as you two continue on with your day

you walk into the aquarium area

and yk that look that seungmin gets in his eyes

where his eyes are like sparkling

he gets like that looking at the fish

and you watch as his head follows one fish

only to start following another when he sees a prettier one

and when a shark comes up he grabs your hand

not because he’s scared

obviously why would he be scared

but because he’s worried your scared

*hes definitely scared*

but once you leave the zoo, you two are still holding hands </3

minjae - skate parks

ok so hear me out

idk where i got this idea

but i’m obsessed

just imagine right

minjaes been wanting to take you skateboarding with him

but you’ve never learned (if you can actually skate board i’m jealous)

anyways

so one day you’re just minding your business

just chilling in your house/apartment

when all of a sudden

there’s aggressive banging on your door

convinced someone’s trying to break in and rob you, you debate going to the door

but when you look through the little peephole

it’s just minjae

so you open up the door and ask him tf he was doing

and minjae has the audacity

the absolute audacity to just giggle

you eventually ask him if he wants to come in

but bros like “nah you’re coming with me”

and because it’s minjae and you trust him you don’t ask questions

big mistake

the two of you end up at the skate park

and he’s all “suprise”

at first you tell him you’ll just watch him

but eventually he asks you if you want to go

and so now you have to tell him you don’t know how to skateboard

bro doesn’t even care tbh

he’s just starts teaching you

like just imagine him helping you

by like holding your waist so that you don’t fall off

eventually you think you get the hang of it

so minjae let’s you go

and you’re doing great

until you run into a rock

and fully face plant onto the cement

minjae rushes over to you

acting like you just got hit by a car

even though you’re fine and just barely skinned your elbow and knees

but minjae doesn’t care about the severity

he carries you all the way back to either your place or his

depending on which is closer

despite you’re protests saying your fine

once you get back he’d set you down before helping you with your wounds

he’d be so gentle, like he’s afraid he might break you

even though it’s literally stopped bleeding at this point

once he’s done he’d make you and him something to eat

don’t offer helping because he’ll say no since you’re “injured”

once hes done cooking, you two would enjoy each others company

watching whichever anime hes currently on

huijun - bike rides and park dates

stop ok this would be so cute

like imagine huijun coming to pick you up

and he’s got like that cute little smile

yk the one where he’s like ᵔ ▿ ᵔ

and like he has flowers for you

and you made a cute little picnic

NO WAIT

you guys made it together yesterday

omg like those aesthetic whipped cream sandwiches and cute little desserts and some fun fruit

and everything’s cut like flowers or hearts

and while you’re making it huijun

mr “pro chef”

gets bored and starts a mini food fight

it starts with him putting a little bit of whipped cream on your nose

and when you look at him like

“what just happened”

he can’t help but laugh at how cute you are

and so that starts a food fight

flour, whipped cream, and other ingredients are everywhere in the kitchen

you and huijun both covered in flour

but it’s ok

bc you two had fun

anyways back to the main point

so huijun stops by your house

and since it’s such a beautiful day outside instead of driving

you two take your bikes

it’s only a few miles away

he always made sure he was biking on the side closest to the cars

and to keep right next to you

so that way he could talk with you

and just make sure you’re ok

and when you get there you two lay down a blanket under a tree

and just eat, talk a little, be cute

he’s definitely the type to prefer to listen then talk

i also feel like he’d def tease you

maybe make you do aegyo for a strawberry

or tickle you when you took the last macaron

stop you two are too cute

and then after eating because it was so filling

you two decide to take a nap

and it’s just so peaceful and calm and cute

omg i love you two

junhyuk - late night convenience store runs

this is the exact opposite of huijun

instead of the cute calm date

bros causing havoc at 1 am on the way to the convenience store

it all started bc you went over to his place to play some video games

you were only supposed to be there until 9

and at 11 you said one more round and then im going home

but yet there you were at 1 am

wearing one of his hoodies to be more comfy

the only light coming from the screen infront of you two

it was also deadly quiet as the rest of the boys went to sleep

telling the two of you that you better not be up extremely late

after the round finished junhyuk got up and walked into the kitchen

you heard a dramatic sigh from him as he realized they didn’t have any good snacks

so junhyuk being ever the gentleman

is now dragging you down the street to the nearest 24 hour convenience store

junhyuks holding your hand, rambling about anything and everything

from the last show he watched, to a cat that just ran by to the song he’s working on

you’re just listening

a little too tired to fully process what he’s saying

when you get to the store he passes you a basket and starts stalking up

grabbing anything that catches his eye

he even grabbed some things he knew you would like

bc he loves you <33

walking home, junhyuk refused to let you carry anything

and when you protest he says

“fine you can carry this”

and gives you his hand

right before you make it back

junhyuk stops dead in his tracks

staring into the darkness before asking you

well more like telling

that there’s a playground and the two of you are going

and so you and junhyuk spend a few minutes at the playground before heading back and falling asleep

completely forgetting about all of the snacks you just spent the last hour going to get

📎 how you got close to the notoriously known for being a bad boy, yang jungwon.

📎 genre : fluff // unedited

- you both had comp class & happened to be placed in the same group.

- fortunately you were in the same group as your girl best friend & she happens to be good friends with the 2 males in your group, one of them being, yang jungwon, the bad boy and other being, bang junhyuk (aka win).

- he looked scary but your friend told you that he was not that bad like those rumors circulating around.

- everything was going fine, you were sitting beside your friend & junhyuk.

- however she was getting on your nerve. it sounded ridiculous but she was googling your full name on the internet. (we all do that)

- you complained to junhyuk which he only responded with a laugh. adding on to your nightmare, he decided to google "is y/n a duck?" before going back to play geoguesser (—.—)

- meanwhile everything was happening between the three of you, jungwon couldn't help can overheard the conversation. he smiled but thank god the mask covered the lower half his face.

- you huffed your cheeks in frustration before moving on to sit the opposite side of the table with jungwon.

- he raised his brows at you before continuing to "do" his work on the comp.

- you looked over to his comp to only see him on y8, playing a bus driving game.

- picking up the courage you called him out.

- "yah jungwon, you are suppose to do your work", you leaned over to watch him play the game.

- he chuckled before continuing to play the game. "I finished my part, have you finished yours?", he asked. you nodded your head.

- "are you really that interested in buses?", you leaned against your chair.

- "not really, anyways this is you", he spoke pointing to the girl who had just entered the bus in the game. "what!? that's a little girl!", you exclaimed. he laughed before patting your head.

- "this is you and you're taking bus (no.) home", he spoke.

- you looked at him stun. it was the bus you always broad home after school but how did jungwon know if he always took the train back.

- "how did you know?"

- "you stay near (place) & how I know? that's a secret", he cheekily smiled under his mask.

- you rolled your eyes at him. "whatever stalker", you spoke, earning a laugh from him.

- junhyuk and your best friend eyed the both of you while you both conversed.

- you picked up his phone, struggling to open the camera from the lockscreen.

- suddenly jungwon slide his hands over yours, opening the camera app for you.

- your cheeks heat up from embarrassment. "thanks...", he only hum in responses, getting back to the game.

- you snapped some photos of yourself and some with him.

- let's add on the video of you on his phone, talking mid way and him stun that the bus drove off cliff in the game.

- you looked at him 👁️👄👁️

- he broke into a laughing fit while you smack his shoulder. "yah! you killed me", you huffed. "oops", he ruffled your hair.

- welp you both got closer after that very day but I guess he wasn't as bad as people thought he was.

- although your group did get scolded by your teacher for being loud but at least you all finished your work.

That's been the issue for a while now. Exhausting them with money making activities. Everything is about money and more money. Don't know how the 7 men feel about it. If I have to guess, they aren't happy. They might want on focus on music and dance and whatever their passion is. It's definitely not in building cookie kingdom. At least BP girls are ambassadors for big fashion brands. What do Bts get? Kitchen appliances and mobile games. Its sad.

I mean, I personally can't possible know if they're happy about it or not. How much do these deals contribute to their individual financial situation? Maybe they love to earn more money however that is possible or maybe they hate it because they need to do all these ads. But it's also a big deal in the industry to be the face of a brand. Perhaps they wouldn't mind getting involved in other businesses, apart from being idols, especially now when their daily activities will change, some are entering their 30s, doing military service. Priorities change, money do need to be invested and not just in real estate and luxury goods. Wasn't Jungkook already a creative director for his brother's brand? I mean, it become fairly obvious that he had prior experience when he designed that hoodie for the individual merch collection.

Ultimately, happy or not about brand deals, it's for them to know and for us to speculate.

Take Coway for example. It was bought and rebranded by Netmarble. The company is owned by Bang PD's cousin, Bang Junhyuk, who is also a major shareholder in Hybe. That explains why BTS are advertising home appliances, among others.

Build Up Episode 2: 숨 (Breath)

Welcome back to another recap of MNET’s Build Up. In the last one, we covered Something Like That, and I got myself a new bias! In this one, we’ll be taking a look at The Hardest Song on the Show (along with all the other songs), 숨/ Sum / Breath. Let’s do it!

As has become traditional on the show, the judges talk about how this is the hardest song. They say that about literally all the songs, though. Vocal Coach Guy (VCG) wonders aloud if the guys chose the song voluntarily, or if they were forced to do it because no other songs were available. No, that was mostly Every Moment of You.

Breath was originally performed by Park Hyo Shin, who, per Wikipedia, “is a South Korean ballad singer and musical theatre actor known for his emotional vocals.” His songs have reached number one on k-pop hot 100 charts, beating established acts like A*pink. Breath came out in 2016 and hit number 1 in Korea. Here’s a cover of it by Chen from Exo, and here’s a cover of it by Jungkook from BTS, and here’s Bang Chan and Lee Know reacting to the original version. I just like covering my bases.

It’s a sad song, but it’s a bit hard to say what it’s actually about. It seems to be about being depressed and lost and not really wanting to face reality. I’ll let you read the lyrics and decide for yourself.

The guys come up to the sound of athletic guitar music, like they’re ready to wrestle or box or something. It’s…

LTR: Lim Junhyeok, Choi Haram, Jeong Inseong from KNK, Lee Hwanhee from Up10tion

Lim Junhyeok, the one who was a member of Day6 for about six months, introduces himself as a singer-songwriter. He was V5.

Choi Haram introduces himself as the “icon of challenge”. He’s a musical actor and was V8.

Jeong Inseong is from KNK and seems to have a certain fanbase out there. He was V6. He introduces himself as the main vocal of KNK with a “soft charisma.”

Lee Hwanhee is from Up10tion, but you might remember him better from Boys Planet. He introduces himself as the cutie of team Breath. He smiles big, and then just a tiny bit looks like he wants to evaporate.

“Why do I keep going on these shows omg when will people just like my voice it’s a good voice I hate dancing I just want to sing oh god…” --Hwanhee, probably

The show makes a lot of their “prince-like visuals.” Are they handsome? You guys know by now that I have no idea who is or isn’t considered handsome by other people.

Eunkwang gets right to the point and says it’s an extremely difficult song, so did anyone there choose it voluntarily? Haram, looking dapper in his pinstripes, says it was his first choice. The judges ask why.

Time for a flashback!

I’ll tell you now the order that the guys join. Inseong was in 11th place and chose it first, then Haram in 21st place chose it. Hwanhee came right after Haram, while all other options were still open, so it’s fair to say that at least those three consciously chose the song as their best option. Junhyuk was tied for 38th and had a choice of either Every Moment or Breath, and chose Breath, so it wasn’t really much of a choice for him.

We see the guys talking about how Breath is hard and wondering who would want to tackle it. But we also see the other guys asking Haram what he wants to do, and he always answers “Sum” (Breath).

Side note: Kpop songs where you can hear the word “sum”! It’s in the first line of Sugar Rush Ride by TXT (saenggageun got sumeul meomchweosseo), it’s at the beginning of the chorus of Mmmh by Kai (Mmmh mmmh, sumeul naeshwigo baeteo like…), and of course it’s in the first line of Breathe, performed by Lee Hi and written by Jonghyun (sumeul keuge swieobwayo). Those were just the first few songs I thought of. If you open your ears, you’ll hear “sum” a lot.

We learn that Haram is a pianist as well as a musical actor.

Huh huh. Pianist.

Haram explains that he hasn’t engaged much in Korean music as he pursued classical music, but Park Hyoshin’s songs were his first exposure to singing. “I know it’s a really dangerous choice,” he interviews, “but I really wanted to sing the song that raised my dream on stage.”

Hwanhee takes the wrong route up to Breath and ends up going all the way around. Isn’t that just how things go for Hwanhee? He needs General Gunwook to boss him around.

As Junhyuk arrives on the team, we get to see a little of his life. (I found a nice video on Youtube of this part, if you want to watch it. )

He says that he writes and sings his own songs, confirming my suspicion that songwriting is his true love, not singing exactly. He says that he has been releasing singles, and even teaching students at an academy.

Pianist, Idol Main vocals, Singer-songwriter

Haram and Junhyuk take the lead on dividing harmonies almost immediately.

Inseong asks Hwanhee, what she would do now? And Hwanhee says, “I guess… take a breath?”

“They talked about music stuff a lot,” Hwanhee interviews. “To be honest, I don't know much about that. They were using difficult musical words so I couldn’t say anything. It was scary/” See? He needs someone to boss him around. Luckily, he has Haram and Junhyuk!

Hwanhee tries singing his part, using a lot of vibrato, and Junhyuk confirms my good opinion of him by suggesting that Hwanhee dial back the vibrato a lot. It’ll give it a more casual, conversational feel.

Haram is so glad to have Junhyuk on his side to help, and we see a little montage of Haram working really hard. Does this mean Haram will be top tier?

My thoughts:

This was a great performance. All four of them had voices I found myself liking a lot. Listening with my eyes closed, I was still able to pick out Hwanhee (I mean it’s pretty obvious) but I was listening to the others blindly and I found I had a positive opinion of all four voices. I don’t even want to nitpick them too much since I really thought this was all very good. I didn’t even mind the song -- I put this on my playlist.

Haram’s voice is so full and mature, it’s almost incongruous with his youthful looks. I really like how he sings, though I’d prefer if he used a little less vibrato. There may have been moments when he was very slightly off pitch, but I couldn’t swear to it because the song’s melody isn’t super clear to me. I also would have preferred if he sang with his eyes open. But those are nitpicks. His voice is lovely.

Side note: He and Hwanhee are both wearing suits that are way too big on them. What’s up with that, stylist unnies? Did you ask them to wear sweaters and they said no so you punished them with giant suits?

Inseong’s voice is rich like Haram’s, but not quite as deep, and a bit smoother. I have no criticism. He also does a great job harmonizing with Hwanhee, singing in a sweet falsetto. I know I’m not saying a lot about Inseong, but it’s just because I have no notes! He did great.

If you read my Boys Planet recaps, you know that I really like Hwanhee’s voice and always have. I think he sounds a lot like Baekhyun from Exo, and that is fully a compliment to both of them. He uses more vibrato than I would have liked here, but that’s a preference thing. I think he did great here, and I hope he won a few fans, since I feel like not many people supported him on Boys Planet. But isn’t it satisfying when it’s his turn to sing? I love his full belts.

I wasn’t thrilled with Junhyuk in his teaser performance, but I find his story so sad and affecting that I was really rooting for him. So I was so glad to find out that the full, bright, satisfying belts I heard with my eyes closed belonged to Junhyuk. He also proved himself singing low as a counterpoint to Haram later in the song. Ok, his vocal color is a tiny bit sharp in tone (not pitch), but not unpleasantly so. He can get a tiny bit nasal, but it’s never anything “bad.”

The harmonies were great overall, and I credit those to Junhyuk and Haram.

I don’t know who I’d pick as my top tier, I really don’t. Every time I think I’ve decided on someone and type his name, I immediately change my mind to someone else. This was a strong team, in my opinion.

The MNET Edit is kind, as is usual on this show. It was funny for me to hear one of my biases (Baekho) compliment another one of my biases (Hwanhee). But it seems that the judges didn’t like Junhyuk -- they were squirming around uncomfortably during his high belts. Well, I liked it, you dumb dumbs.

Hong Seong Jun is enjoying the singing. I think. I guess?

When the song is over, everyone applauds and says they did a good job.

VCG says that the song is hard to sing well, then tells Haram that he enjoyed his singing, for not trying to imitate the original singer too closely, but instead singing it in his own style.

VCG goes on to say that Junhyeok was disappointing with “one thing” -- his voice was too “bare” in the chorus. He wanted to hear his “modal voice”, which I think meant his chest voice. I disagree, personally. I think having the contrast of Junhyeok’s voice was refreshing. But I guess that’s just a matter of taste. Also, since VCG said that Junhyeok was disappointing with “one thing”, the implication is that VCG must have had a lot of compliments for Junhyeok as well that we didn’t get to see.

We don’t hear them say anything about Hwanhee or Inseong.

The judges vote, and it’s unanimous -- they all vote for Choi Haram.

That seems fair -- his singing was impeccable, and he also helped devise the harmonies.

Haram pretty much can’t believe it.

He almost looks like he’s going to pass out for a second, then says thank you and promises to keep working hard to justify his win.

As the guys leave the stage, the judges say that they’re glad that the difficult song worked out so well. Then VCG adds, “It’s so nice to have an audition with just singing. I’m used to dancing too and this is much better.”

Ok, my friends, I’ll post this much so that I can keep going crazy with as many screen shots as I want. Just two more songs to go! I fear I’m going to fall further and further behind… Sigh. Well, thanks for sticking with me and being patient. I’ll see you in the next one, which is going to be Decalcomanie, originally by Solar’s group Mamamoo. That should be interesting! See you then.
