Usually, I would go on a rant about TDE and their main artists taking forever and a day in-between albums to put out music. But I’m not going to do it. Because SZA dropped one of the greatest anthems for the niggas in I Hate U back in December. So I can wait another 34 years until her album is ready.

Calling all Freddie-philes, and in particular anyone familiar with pre-Queen/verrry early Queen Freddie...

So! This comes from Part 5 of the fabulously information-packed Queen Before Queen series transcribed and posted by @melisa-may-taylor72.

From Queen Before Queen, The 1960’s Recordings - Part Five: Ibex, Wreckage, and Sour Milk Sea, here. I’ve included the entire section for context, but the last paragraph is what has me...curious. Pertinent bits bolded by me.

Why did Freddie ask another guitarist to come play with Queen, specifically to “jam a bit” with Roger and John?

This guy didn’t have his own guitar, so he tried to play the Red Special (and couldn’t). Were they (Freddie) thinking of adding another guitarist? And if so...why?

The group was set by that point, so...why?

I am unendingly curious about this, and I’ve never seen it mentioned outside of this article. I think I did a few half-hearted Google searches, but nothing came up. If you know, hit me up with that sweet, sweet, knowledge. Thanks!

“When Sour Milk Sea broke up it was a terrible shock,” admits Chris. “It was fairly acrimonious. Rubber had basically bankrolled the band by buying all the equipment, so he took back his Gibson SG Standard that I’d been playing and my Marshall stack, and I was pretty fucked. I was just eighteen. Our drummer, Rob Tyrell, went off with Rubber in another band, and I went off to work in Huntley & Palmer’s bakery in Reading for months on end to get the money to buy my own guitar.” And, as Chris revealed to Mark Hodkinson, “I was planning to form another band with Freddie, but not having a guitar and not having much money put the kibosh on the idea”.

“We liked Freddie,” admits Rob Tyrell. “He was fun. But he was quite a schemer in a way. He had other things cooking. I could feel it in my bones he wasn’t really interested in us. He knew he was good. He kind of used us as a stepping stone.”

Freddie had been through three different groups in less than seven months. What next? “He finally persauded Brian and Roger to form that band,” recalls Mike Bersin. Having known and observed each other for a while, Freddie, Brian and Roger were more compatible than Freddie had been with relative strangers like Chris Chesney and Jeremy Gallop. All the new band needed now was a name.

The previous summer, members of Ibex, Mike Bersin in particular, had began to refer to Freddie, and indeed to Roger Taylor, as “queens” or “old queens” — as Freddie’s letter to Celine Daley shows. And Freddie was obviously far from averse to the term. Brian and Roger put forward the Grand Dance (from C.S. Lewis’ ‘Out Of The Silent Planet’ trilogy) as a suggestion for their new outfit. “But they decided on Queen as being more direct,” adds Mike Bersin. It had, of course, been Freddie’s choice. By this time, Freddie had changed his own name, too. Bulsara was too exotic, too Zanzibar. The explanation of his replacement comes from Chris Chesney. “Freddie was a Virgo,” he reveals, “and Mercury was his ruling planet.”

“Later on,” concludes Chris, “when they auditioned John Deacon, Freddie made some overtures for me to come and play with Queen. I hadn’t played for a few months, but they wanted me to jam a bit with Roger and John. It was really awkward, because Brian’s guitar was unplayable if you’re used to playing a proper, commercial guitar. It wasn’t what I wanted to do. And anyway, by then, I felt they had the chemistry in Queen just right.”

The fandom is very very weird about Edwina. I prefer Kate but I don’t think being pissed off with your sister because you found out at the altar that her and your fiancé loved each other makes her a terrible person. I think people seem to wilfully think the worst of her.

There was a small meltdown on Twitter about an article saying she is back to continue her ‘entangled’ love life in S3, and so many people thought that meant the love triangle was going to continue in S3, which is nonsense (at least - I think it is?)

I feel like there is a big opportunity for Edwina to have her own love story, to explore her relationship further with Kate, for her to truly realise what she felt for Anthony was naive, possibly be a friend of Eloise or Penelope given they have fallen out? And her finding out more about who she is and what she wants, maybe alongside Eloise. Or even if she was only in a few episodes - I saw people thinking it was weird that she wasn’t in the epilogue and that it shows she is still pissed off when it could mean anything, she could be inside reading because she hates Pall Mall.

I get the concerns about too many subplots but I’d rather Edwina then a lot of others, and there is more space for her to actually have an arc given her story in S2.

What do you hope to see for her in S3?

I prefer Edwina to almost all the Bridgertons so I’m biased. But I think she’d so great with some solid subplots lol. I don’t need another season of Eloise and Benedict exploring heteronormativity. Or Daphne fooling the audience into thinking she isn’t a rapist because she’s helping a ship get together.

Honestly unless its Francesca having the least problematic courtship with John or Gregory and Hyacinth teaming up to run away to Uncle Nicholas and Aunt Georgie’s because everyone at their house is certifiably emotionally stupid…I think I could live without it as far as subplots go. Throw in a Kanthony happy childfree plot point (because the more I think about it the less I want to see them with kids already its a boring and overdone storyline people can do more than have kids y’all) and I’m set for B plots for siblings. Give me Will and Alice or Gen instead.

But if Edwina is S3…and I’m not certain she is. Nor do I think I want her in S3 I hate the discourse that people have had about this character a vast majority of it being microaggressive.

BUT if shes in S3 I want these story lines for her (listed in order of preference):

Edwina’s gay awakening. Girl is out of her sister’s purview. Allowed to explore things she wants for the reasons she wants and not to be a good wife and realizes she also likes women. (Bc show!Edwina is bi book!Edwina is a lesbian). Falls in love with a down on her luck woman. They run away together. The Queen bankrolls their life together.

Edwina marries the Prince. Mostly because Freddie Stroma is a cutie, Prince Friedrich is a cutie, and Edwina outranking Anthony for the rest of her life is just really special to me.

Anything else

Edwina/Bagwell I just don’t like him.

Or alternatively just this fic:

It in my top favorite Bridgerton fics. And I’m not usually an OC fic reader but the male love interest this fic author has written is so compelling and at times has me swooning. It reads like a darker HR. And it also asks the question what if Bridgerton didn’t need a minimum of 1 white person to sell a ship. This is the best I’ve ever seen Edwina written and I recommend everyone read it.

If Edwina never shows up in S3 this is my canon ending for her lol.

Kelsey Harris has some explaining to do. Although in recent court proceedings she essentially said her memory is fuzzy, in a deposition that was played in court, Megan Thee Stallion’s former friend says she saw Torey Lanez shooting at the Texas rapper.

Reports TMZ:

As you know, Kelsey has been hesitant, to say the least, to give up many details while testifying this week, but on Friday prosecutors played audio of the entire interview she did with cops earlier this year … when she spilled every detail from that July 2020 night.
