watch midnight horror school episode 31 and give me a honest review of everyone in the episode!
In episode 31, Mr. Salaman tells the class about the evil spirit Count Boroso Jiki, warning them not to say the incantation "shigiwosuitorufu" near his grave. I don't know what exactly that means because I don't speak Japanese, but I'm assuming it's the equivalent to saying "Beetlejuice" three times.
Anyway, Zobie, who dozed off in class that day, ends up saying the incantation after Hikky and Liddy tell him about it. Count Boroso then takes possession of Zodie and steals all of the students' powers. It takes them a while to figure out what's going on, but when they do, they learn from Zobie's test answers that Count Boroso cannot deny the request of a lady.
With this knowledge, Liddy tricks Boroso into demonstrating three of her classmates' powers, the last one being Kabo's ability to make pumpkins fall from the sky. Boroso is then crushed by a giant pumpkin which allows all of the students' wonders to return to them. It is then revealed that Boroso's daytime form was a vacuum cleaner that was thrown out despite still being functional. His plan was to steal everyone's wonders and take over the world to get revenge against the humans for abusing him.
My first thought was that this whole thing wouldn't have happened if Zobie had paid attention in class, but then I realized that if he hadn't summoned Count Boroso the night before they were going to take a test on him, the class may not have figured out how to defeat him. So the lesson I got from this was: don't' give away personal information because somebody could use it against you.
I did like how the characters were designed (Hikky's head is a dual colored pencil, Liddy's is a piano, Borocca's is an umbrella, etc.), and how each of them has a special power based on their daytime forms. My only complaint is that there is no English dub of MHS. I'm lucky there was a fan subtitled version of the show on YouTube (and an unlisted one at that).
So with that being said, I still have one question. Just why was this episode banned in Japan?

I know the actual reason that From Another Planet with Love was banned (Alien Spell's resemblance to hibakusha (survivors of the atomic bombings))
But this is genuinely the most frightening episode of this show so far, I could see this being upsetting to young children even if it weren't considered offensive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe it's the grainy VHS quality or maybe it's something about Akio Jissoji's directorial style (harsh, surreal lighting, extreme close-ups and a lot of lense distortions that gives everything a very unnerving quality) but this episode is genuinely super creepy!! Even Dan looks pretty spooky when he flies in, cast in silhouette by the harsh sunlight with his eyes glowing like two headlights.

I spent an hour and a half of intense researching trying to find a banned on all online platforms and tv Powerpuff girls episode that treats topics like opposition to the government, dictatorship, mass control and religious stuff It is also a 23 minutes long rock musical, and it is way more intense that you would expect from a Powerpuff girls episode and I'm not surprised that it got banned, there is also a jack black gnome.
Saw it years ago after another intense researching but the page I found it (sub spanish) got deleted and also many clips from YouTube (there where some of the songs with the video posted but not anymore). You don't know the feeling of watching it again after many years and still knowing the songs, they are fire too
The episode is called "See me, feel me, Gnomey"
I don't know if I should post the link, I found it on internet archive.org, you can find it there writing the name (yes, the intense research was useless at the end)
This is the video where I learnt about the existence of this, it's in spanish tho, but there are many others

Could this bitch enter the Tumblr sexyman polls???
[Spoiler: the girls fucking kill the gnome, like, they literally kill him, he dies and they laugh]

FUN FACT:
Did you know that the reboot of the 2018 show of mine called Joseph's World had a lost episode that was going to be made, but it was cancelled for the idea of being too disturbing and sad?
It was going to be made as the first episode, but was immediately cancelled and replaced with the strep episode since the episode had no comedy, silent and unsettling scenes, and other content that wouldn't fit the show.

#OnlyonOneNETnewsInvestigates: The Epilepsy Episode of Pokémon Anime breaks their silence in Japan and was concluded for a National Breach of Televised Incident [#ClassicNews]
AN IMPORTANT FAIR WARNING to our NEWS READERS: The following news article may seriously contain a suggestive photosensitive epilepsy content. Readers discretion is STRONGLY ADVISED! Also, Reporting our news article without a consent is strictly punishable by law. We are frankly NOT responsible in our small news organization experience for any of it’s wrong doing. Thank you!
TOKYO, JAPAN -- Over 25 years of its controversial classic episode in Season 1 as Pokémon: The Original Series per classification of The Indigo League broke their silence on national television overnight, both before on Christmas Day in mid-December 1997 and mid-April of 1998.
Japanese kids and teens were targeted nationwide, with some occasional future adults suffering their adverse health effects including epileptic seizures, vomiting, irritated eyes and other related symptoms, due to the use of a flashing strobe effect upon its first and only airing.
The investigation was now concluded as JOCX-TV 8's Fuji TV in Tokyo from a morning news programme called "Nice Day". Our research team tells us exclusively to OneNETnews, the episode entitled "Electric Soldier Porygon" which can be found from a partial lost media in Japanese TV listings of Episode #38.

The blame was put on a scene depicting an explosion, encountering to 2 missiles as detonated with a Thunderbolt move, followed by 5 seconds of flashing red, white and blue lights from the eyes of the most popular character named Pikachu, who was an electric rodent-like creature type of Pocket Monsters. Pre-Kalos Correspondent (Ash Ketchum) reached out for a comment to OneNETnews, shortly immediately after the lock-in classic taping episode.

Despite a lot of emergency calls, JOTX-TV's Tokyo 12 (now currently known as TV Tokyo Ch. 7) was first to air the said episode; as well as the rest of TXN Network affiliates and other selected first-run syndicated TV stations in Pokémon anime. The show went on hiatus for a few months where the ongoing talks for a controversial banned episode nationwide.

Several moments after the new classic episode ended at exactly 6:51pm on Tuesday night (December 16th, 1997 -- Japan local time), over 700 children and teens (partially excluded themselves for adults) have tuned in that night and was rushed to a nearest hospital all across Japan. The predecessor generation of millennium spiked their televised ratings to nearly 20%, as according to the Video Research Survey (VRS).

In a public press conference the following day as one Programming Division Manager of TV Tokyo Ch. 12 named Hironari Mori told Fuji News Network (FNN), the damages are done unnoticed after a massive Photosensitive Epilepsy incident on national TV for kids and teens altogether: "When it comes to the ugly situation that took place no matter the root cause, this happened because people watched something we put on the air. So I'd like to end by saying that, we apologize for what happened. We don't know how this is all going to play out, but if we can't figure this out by next Tuesday night (December 23rd, 1997), we're thinking we'll have no choice but to have the show taking a break next week", Mori said in a translated Japanese dialect. So far, there were been no demands for damages from the parents, but added that the network was considering compensation for the families.

TXN morning variety news presenter of Oha Suta and a Japanese voice actor named Koichi Yamadera, the televised viewer advises to limit what you are watching for epilepsy problems and other health-related concerns during the banned episode of Pokémon anime: "As you all know after the last night's airing on Tuesday night of Pocket Monsters, some people started to feel bad and even collapsed. Well, a lot of people are working right now to figure out how in the world something like this happened. We would like to ask you to please hold off on watching videos, either to rewatch the episode or because you missed it the first time, until they find a clear cause for what happened. Because if something like this were to happen again, all the people who love Pokémon, where everyone else too, would really sad", Yamadera said also in Japanese dialect.

Fuji TV releases a full statement during the said morning news programme: "The so-called Pokémon Panic occurred in our living rooms, with the repercussions continuing to be felt everywhere. We understand the techniques used in that particular episode are common in the animation industry. We do not fully understand the exact relationship between the show and the various symptoms that have appeared. But we here at JOCX-TV 9's Fuji TV are prepared to meticulously check any animation we're planning to air in the future to make sure it is safe to air".
Nintendo's powerhouse of flagship gaming franchise of Pokémon in Japan was no effect of it and was not connected through the anime for now. The English dubbed of Episode #38 in the United States of America (U.S.A.) will not air a banned episode and was later skipped for worldwide syndication as a safety pre-caution.

Fast-forward to late-June 2019, a smartphone case holding a virtual normal type known as Porygon was reportedly featured as an easter egg during a new game trailer of Pokémon Masters. There will be a little probability, for a return of the said Pokémon and was soon to be lifted once the anime will be re-debuted in a different generation.
TV Tokyo will soon charge with injury caused by corporate negligence, including all Pokémon animators and the entire production staff of Oriental Light and Magic (OLM). The anime itself automatically cancels out if proven guilty after the Series Premiere of Season 1 as according to the National Police Agency (NPA). But right now in the present, Pokémon anime continues to move forward for more new seasons. There is no sign at all for cancellation in the animated series, which is due to a popular demand.
Since both companies between TV Tokyo and OLM complies all the broadcast standards & laws, the Corporate Negligence will be stripped out in court for total violation and for a permanent closure of the said Japanese TV network. After almost 2-3 decades of the controversial epilepsy episode, the investigation has now been concluded forever.
The management and staff of TXN Networks including TV Tokyo publicly apologize all the national viewers in Japan, as well as the first-run international syndication. Pokémon anime assures their viewers with great care and the responsibility of the animation industry. Porygon is history of existence of Pocket Monsters in the world of anime.
